The Best Walk-In Camping Near Conway, Arkansas

A best kept secret!  And one of the most beautiful privately owned campgrounds  in central Arkansas.  We offer riverside camping on the banks of the North Fork of Cadron Creek, a spirited Class II whitewater stream loved by paddlers.  Here you can camp under the stars or under a canopy of towering pine trees or even in a cave. There is swimming, fishing, hiking, climbing, and a Ninja rope course with zipline and slackline, Frisbee golf course. foraging field, and trails for further fun and exploration.   

Now if you are new to camping?  Or hate bugs,  thorns, or wild critters? Or simply don't like being outside and in a primitive setting? Then this is NOT the place!! REPEAT: This is NOT the place!! But if you want to sneak away and find a lovely little place to unwind, commune with nature, and get lost in time, then Pinnacle Springs Campground is where you need to be. 

Here one can camp in total solitude or with friends and family as we have sites that that can perfectly fit nearly every need from open field camps large enough for a family reunion or gathering to a total solitary and traceless "wilderness experience".     

No traffic noise here! Rather, you'll be soothed by the sound of cascading water echoing off the bluffs-- great for outdoor sleeping and keeping the air fresh and alive. Many of the camp sites are equipped with a heavy picnic table, fire pit and grill, lamp post and level tent site. And if you like to swing-- we have trees! Hammocks and slacklines are the best no trace tree thing ever! And although Pinnacle Springs Campground lies in an off-the-grid wilderness setting there is good cell phone service, a water hydrant can be found near the front gate behind the store, and electrical outlets for recharging phones and such can be found on the ridge at nearby Camp Toasty.  Downwind and further from the river is a clean and sanitized porta-potty-- and more can be found elsewhere on the property.

Guests are encouraged to explore any of the trails that criss-cross the property especially if you like waterfalls, scenic views, cascading streams, and goat trail bluffs. The trails to Tanner Pool and Lil' and Big B Falls are especially popular after a heavy rain, Bluff Trail offers a nice perch for viewing the river below, and the 1+ mile"circuit trail" is a great way to start one's day. There is even a 10-acre foraging playground-- oxalis, nettle, ginger, mint, poke, etc., a 1/2 acre fishing pond-- suitable for"storing" any fish you catch but may not wish to clean and eat-- and a nine hole frisbee golf course on the slave-built terraces where cotton fields once laid(first tee near bench by front gate). I could go on and on-- this is a pretty awesome place with hundreds of acres at your disposal. It is rough, rugged and unruly yet we call it home-- a place where everyone regardless race, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, political views, religion, national origin, or culture is welcomed to come enjoy nature's marvelous works and wonders. Unwind. Kick back. And enjoy! Campsites with electrical hookups are available at nearby Camp Toasty and both properties give you access to the full array of amenities offered by Cadron Creek Outfitters. We also offer kayak and canoe rental, guide and shuttling service, and have four separate campgrounds on the banks of Cadron Creek to support multi-day paddling adventures.  
  
Only three rules:  

IMPORTANT RULE #1: This is a no trash park-- pack out what you pack in! Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but some great memories and photos.

IMPORTANT RULE #2: This is DIY camping!! We love welcoming people to the creek but we are not here to pander to your every whim so if primitive wilderness settings give you pause or concern then please, please, please camp elsewhere.

LASTLY-- MOST IMPORTANT RULE #3:  Be kind and considerate.  To one another, to the stewards of the land, and most especially to the flora and fauna and land that makes Pinnacle Springs Campground special.   Thus NO saws, axes or shovels.

Pinnacle Springs Cabin

Maumelle Campground sits along the beautiful Arkansas River, offering boating, fishing and birding for outdoor enthusiasts. Recreation The Nuttall Trail runs through the park, offering visitors hiking opportunities. Anglers will find a selection of crappie, bream, hybrid bass, white bass and more. A boat ramp is provided for campers to enjoy the river. Maumelle Campground offers 128 spacious campsites with electric hookups, along with eight large group picnic shelters. Amenities include a dock, hot showers, a boat ramp and playground. The campground is set on the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, a series of navigation pools used to help ships navigate upstream toward Oklahoma. The Arkansas River is one of the Mississippi's largest tributaries, flowing 1,450 miles from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, through to Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Wintering eagles can be seen in large numbers along the Arkansas River. Most of these eagles migrate from Canada and the U.S. Great Lakes region. Nearby Attractions The Pinnacle Mountain State Park is just two miles from the campground. The 13 mountain trails here range from easy to strenuous, and each one promises captivating scenery. The campgrounds feature a total of 125 campsites (including 26 pull-through sites). Thirty-five of the sites—the Class AAA sites—have 30 and 50 amp electrical, water, and sewer hookups. The 90 Class B sites offer 30 amp electrical and water hookups. All sites are reservable. Campsites are divided into four campground areas. Each includes a modern bathhouse with hot showers and flush toilets. Area "A" is near Lake Bailey and include sites along the lakeshore. Areas "B," "C," and "D" are located on the south side of Ark. 154 in wooded settings.

 Other campsite choices in the main camping area include a 44-unit Rally-style Area with 20 amp electrical service available for camping clubs. 

 A trailer dump station is centrally located near the Rally-style camping area.

 Petit Jean is Arkansas's only state park with its own airport.
