Best Cabin Camping near Peoria, AZ

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Cabin rental options in Peoria, Arizona include Pleasant Harbor RV Resort and Desert Shadows RV Resort, both offering basic cabin accommodations with electricity and water hookups. Pleasant Harbor cabins feature lake views with proximity to water activities, while Desert Shadows provides more urban conveniences. Most units include standard furnishings like beds, tables, and basic kitchen facilities. Bathroom access varies by location, with some cabins offering private facilities while others utilize shared campground restrooms and showers. "Large clean spots. All spots are fenced, descent pool and small store if you need anything. We stayed in the loop near the entrance," notes one visitor about Pleasant Harbor.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Shangri La Ranch offers more secluded cabin experiences with access to recreational amenities including two swimming pools, one heated, plus volleyball courts and nature trails. Leaf Verde RV Resort and Destiny Phoenix RV Resorts maintain cabin units suitable for families year-round. Most properties require advance reservations, especially during peak winter visitor season. Pet policies differ significantly; Pleasant Harbor allows pets in certain cabin units while other locations may restrict animals entirely. A recent review highlighted: "Been going here over 6 years and I always look forward to my visits. They have 2 pools, volleyball, darts, horseshoe, pool tables, hot tub, sauna, nature trails, a cafe open on weekends."

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Kitchen facilities typically include mini-refrigerators and microwaves, though some properties offer more complete cooking setups. The Pleasant Harbor cabins provide access to an on-site convenience store for basic provisions, eliminating the need for trips into town. Guests staying at Mesa Spirit RV Resort or Mesa Gardens RV Park can access urban amenities within minutes. Cabin rates generally range from $50-$100 per night depending on amenities and season, with many properties offering weekly rate discounts for extended stays. Heating and cooling systems are standard in most cabins, providing year-round comfort despite Arizona's temperature extremes.

Great value as a TT member

We stayed at this property from 12/28/2020 - 01/11/2020.  This was our first experience with a TT/Encore property.  The RV site we were assigned has a rock pad, was moderately spacious, level, in full sun, and a fire ring or picnic table was not provided.  There was a pool, hot tub, lodge, pickleball, mini golf, shuffleboard, dog park, laundry and a fitness center on the grounds.  The nearest grocery store was within 5 miles as well.

    Good place - Quiet

Convenient to SE Phoenix area. Far enough from the freeway to be quiet. An oasis surrounded by fields. Clean restrooms, pools, grounds, roads, sites. Nice folks working there. Refundable $20 deposit to get bathroom key. Did not use laundry. Stayed 3 nights. Very open, but a tree between each rig. Not much shade. Full hookups but no CATV. $73 per night. I will. Stay here again when I’m in the area.

    Clean

Large clean spots. All spots are fenced descent pool and small store if you need anything. We stayed in the loop near the entrance. Quite loud with all the cars coming and going. Marina for boat rentals with a shuttle to take you back and forth. Strong WiFi. Kids were able to zoom without any issues.

Was a beautiful and comfortable place to stay

We stayed in the cabin and it was beautiful! There are parks or playgrounds for the little ones, the area was peaceful and clean, the cabins are clean and affordable, and it had the perfect amount of woods & wildlife. A family of dear would come to our cabin and graze each morning as I sat on my cabin porch with a cup of coffee. The staff is respectful and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay.

    Disappointed

Well we stayed here for two nights and frankly I wasn’t very impressed. The Campground is really only for permanent residents, everyone else ends up in a dirt lot essentially. Nearest bathrooms were a bit of a hike, so were all amenities. We paid for water and electric. The noise level was crazy... especially as we have a pop-up. I guess they don’t really enforce quiet hours. We got in late and finding our campsite was hard in the dark if you’ve never been there before. Lots of bugs at night. Honestly you pay $50 a night just to be by a lake and for me it wasn’t worth it 🤷‍♀️.

    Great Desert Oasis

We loved this park in the Arizona Desert.  Close to everything, yet set up to feel like you're in your own little village.  The amenities at this park are outstanding and the neighbors are super friendly.  Sites are decent size!  We loved the three pools, multiple hot tubs and modern showers and laundry rooms.  This park can be hard to get into because of its popularity.  Highly recommended!  Check out our video of this great RV report on Youtube at:  https://youtu.be/gDr1Z9NGhr8

Great campground centerally located to Phoenix and Scottsdale. Was only planning to stay 2 nights but ended up extending my stay. Full hookups and laundry/showers in house. Also have a cute patio area to hangout as well as a clubhouse with WIFI. RV park backs up to a park with a coded gate so easy access to playground/big grass area for dogs. Park is fully fenced with gate. Very clean and well kept.

I booked online at like 4:30ish (their office closes at 5). The gate codes for entry and club house were in the confirmation email as well as the manager called me at like 5 til to confirm I had codes and everything I needed to get it - so appreciated! Manager was also very friendly also when I asked for recs and about extending my stay. Have weekly and monthly rates on top of nightly ones. Would come back.

    Get curb parked for $27

We stayed here 2 weeks when we were new Thousand Trails members (it came with the RV), but since we showed up the first night at sunset, we were curb-parked that night.. Which is when one of the very lovely security staff there let us know that it's less expensive (for non‐TT members) to get one of those curb spots (with electric, & close access to showers, pool, laundry) than to get a regular spot. So this time, having let TT expire, we tried this out- no reservation (I did call ahead, but indeed, curb spots are unreserved), just show up at dusk or later, and this very nice, truly chill but soo ginormous resort let us park right in the front/middle for the night. And swim. And do laundry. They put cones around us, and said we could put out our slide-out! Checkout's at 11. There's a Jack-in-the-Box .4 miles from where they park ya. We plan to use this again!

Guide to Peoria

Cabin camping near Peoria, Arizona offers options within a 30-45 minute drive radius, with elevations ranging from 1,080 feet in the valley to over 6,000 feet in mountain areas like Crown King. Summer temperatures in Peoria often exceed 105°F, while winter overnight lows rarely drop below 40°F, making cabin rentals popular year-round. Most cabins require advance reservations, especially during January through March when snowbird season brings higher occupancy rates.

What to do

Lake activities at Pleasant Harbor: Located at Lake Pleasant, Pleasant Harbor RV Resort offers cabin campers access to water recreation. "There are several different RV/Camping options at Pleasant Harbor Marina / RV Resort... Out on the 'flat' with just water and power (dump station on site)," notes Robert G. Cabins provide convenient access to the marina where "free shuttle to haul kayak to boat ramp" is available according to Margaret T.

Mountain exploration: For those seeking higher elevation cabin experiences, Crown King Area (Horsethief Basin lake) provides forest surroundings at approximately 7,000 feet. "This majestic spot is roughly ~26 miles (from Bumble Bee) of bumpy dirt roads, steep terrain, switchbacks, and the occasional one vehicle bridge," writes Justin M. The area features fishing opportunities as "The lake fish species present include Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Channel Catfish, and Muskie."

Hiking trails and natural areas: Cabin campers at Happy Endings Retreat can enjoy hiking opportunities. Paul Z. reports, "I boondocked for a couple days and enjoyed the quiet solitude of the canyon, enjoyed hiking, and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets." The retreat offers a more secluded cabin experience away from urban settings.

What campers like

Swimming options: Multiple pools rank high on cabin campers' appreciation lists. At Shangri La Ranch, "They have 2 pools (one is heated), volleyball, darts, horseshoe, pool tables, hot tub, sauna, nature trails, a cafe open in the weekend," according to Rachel Ann B. This provides climate-controlled swimming regardless of season.

Fruit trees on property: Some cabin properties feature mature landscaping with edible benefits. At Destiny Phoenix RV Resorts, guests appreciate the "orange, lemon, and grapefruit trees everywhere," as Missy C. notes. The fruit trees provide shade, visual appeal, and potential snacks depending on season.

Cleanliness and maintenance: Clean facilities consistently receive positive mentions. "Well kept, clean and friendly people," writes Gregg K. about Desert Shadows RV Resort. Facilities receive regular attention with Justin M. mentioning "port a pottys which were actually clean" at Pleasant Harbor.

What you should know

Access challenges: Some cabin locations require specialized vehicles or careful driving. Crown King Area requires "high clearance vehicle (4x4 highly recommended)" according to Justin M., who adds there are "many areas that are only single vehicle width." Weather can further complicate access as there's "extremely limited travel available while snow is on the ground."

Variable pet policies: Rules regarding pets differ significantly between properties. Leaf Verde RV Resort provides "a dog park" according to Dawn F., while Mesa Spirit specifically notes "NO pets-allowed" in their policies. Always confirm pet rules before booking.

Cabin size limitations: Most cabin rentals have strict capacity limits. Paul Z. notes Happy Endings Retreat cabins work well for "boondocking for a couple days" but might not accommodate larger groups. When booking, specify exact party size as some properties have age restrictions.

Tips for camping with families

Pool access for children: Properties with swimming facilities provide important recreation for families with children. Mesa Gardens RV Park "backs up to a park with a coded gate so easy access to playground/big grass area for dogs," according to Jules S., offering additional play space beyond the campground.

Age restrictions exist: Some cabin properties maintain adult-only policies. Nadine A. reports that at Mesa Spirit, "When she showed up, she was told she would have to leave as children were not welcome." Always confirm child policies before booking.

Playground proximity: Properties near public parks offer expanded recreation options. Jules S. notes Mesa Gardens has "easy access to playground/big grass area" adjacent to the property, providing additional space for children to play.

Tips from RVers

Cabin alternatives: RVers sometimes use cabins when their vehicles need maintenance. Leaf Verde RV Resort offers flexible options with Sara H. noting, "curb spots are unreserved, just show up at dusk or later... for the night. And swim. And do laundry." This provides an affordable cabin alternative at $27 per night.

Full hookup availability: Most cabin properties also accommodate RVs with varying hookup options. Jim K. notes Pleasant Harbor has "360 full hook ups. 100 water and electric only spots. Lots of dry camping spots," providing flexibility if traveling with multiple units or friends in different accommodation types.

Gate access systems: Many cabin properties use security systems requiring codes. Jules S. appreciated that Mesa Gardens provided "gate codes for entry and club house were in the confirmation email as well as the manager called me at like 5 til to confirm I had codes and everything I needed."
