Best RV Parks & Resorts near Jacob Lake, AZ

Kaibab Camper Village provides full hookup RV sites in Jacob Lake, Arizona, operating seasonally from May 14 to October 15. Within 30 miles, Kaibab Paiute RV Park in Fredonia features 58 pull-through sites with both 30 and 50-amp service options, making it suitable for larger RVs. Seasonal availability varies significantly among RV parks near Jacob Lake. While Hitch-N-Post RV Park in Kanab operates year-round, most facilities in the immediate Jacob Lake area close during winter months due to heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures. Cell service can be inconsistent throughout the region, with stronger Verizon signals reported at lower elevations. Many travelers noted the importance of scouting ahead when navigating to certain RV campgrounds, particularly during spring thaw when roads may be muddy. Dump stations are available at most RV parks, though some charge additional fees for non-guests. Pet-friendly policies are standard across most facilities, with designated walking areas at larger resorts. Propane is available at Jacob Lake Inn adjacent to Kaibab Camper Village, and several RV parks offer on-site firewood for purchase, though fire restrictions may apply during dry summer months.

Mather Campground — Grand Canyon National Park

    Perfect!

Since there are so many reviews for this place I’ll keep it brief!

    -$18/night, no hookups

-There’s a dump station with threaded and non threaded potable water as well as non potable water near the entrance, free for campers.

-There are also water spigots throughout the campground.

-No hookups here at this campground but there’s an RV park up the road with full hookups

-Generator hours are limited to 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening.

-The shuttle system is wonderful and is the reason we stayed here for so many nights. We were able to explore the whole park easily. (Being in a motorhome with no tow vehicle and only our feet and bikes to get around really limits our radius of exploration).

-The grocery store is close by and it’s great! It’s got a ton of souvenirs and any supplies you might need, and the groceries are decently priced and there are a lot of vegan products and a great beer selection!

-Laundry on site Showers are $2.50/5 min

-Their waste bins are single stream- trash and recycling all go in the same bin. Per sign at visitor center they recycle glass, plastic, and aluminum.

-Verizon had 5G signal, ATT had LTE, and TMobile as always lagged behind with roaming service.

Lees Ferry Campground — Glen Canyon National Recreation Area

    Arizona camping at its finest

If I had to describe Arizona camping then this would be the perfect campground description. Such a beautiful area with a pristine CG to boot.

More red than green, awesome views of the Colorado as well as easy access which I benefited from due to the float trip we came for, and wonderful people camping here in numerous different setups. Everything from vans to RVs to toy haulers and cars with tents.

Clean restrooms and some of the best in the entire state IMO, as well as water and for the big rigs there’s a dump station but my site didn’t have any other RV amenities so I’m pretty sure that’s it

Couple great hikes nearby that give even better views of the area and if you can handle the heat I’d recommend them

Fishing is per the usual in the Colorado and it wasn’t too great for my trip but probably more my fault

Marble Canyon is nearby if you need anything but it’s extremely quiet right now

It stayed pretty busy over my 2 day stay. When I pulled in on a Thursday I was able to grab 1 of 6 empty spots. By the time i left Saturday it was full constantly. As usual my cell service wasn’t very dependable

Trailer Village RV Park — Grand Canyon National Park

    Pleasantly Surprised at Trailer Village

We stayed two nights in Trailer Village RV Park at the Grand Canyon. We made reservations for our site four months ahead. That was necessary as the campground was full when we arrived! The sites were a good distance apart and there was green space between the RVs. Our site was on the end of a row, and there was a large grassy buffer between the site and the road. We even had plenty of room to put up a tent. Picnic tables, charcoal grills, and full hookups were all provided, including, to our surprise, cable TV! There was no WiFi and our Verizon cell signal was 1-3 bars throughout our stay. No video streaming, but text and email were fine. We have a 17' travel trailer and that plus two vehicles fit well into the parking garage area. There is also an overflow parking lot and you can pick up the Blue Line bus right at the Campground entrance station, which we did! Public bathrooms were clean and stocked, although we did not use the showers so cannot comment on those. Trash and recycle were available close to each loop.

Wahweap Campground & RV Park — Glen Canyon National Recreation Area

Great view with horrible customer service

This is a great RV Park. The location is superb. The space between sites is very generous. Interior roads are very easy to navigate for big rigs. Very quiet at night. This place is designed right. Site was big enough for our 40 foot 5th wheel. The views of Lake Powell were awesome! The campground is maintained very well. Wifi is almost useless and there is no cable. Due to the location there are no TV channels with antennas. My only reason for not giving it five stars was the staff in the camp store/ registration. We have been to many campgrounds and the staff in the camp store were some of the worst we have ever dealt with. They do not greet you or smile. If you ask a question you will get an answer that is probably incorrect. They do not try to help or explain anything. We camped at Wahweap RV and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Lone Rock Beach Primitive Camping Area — Glen Canyon National Recreation Area

One of my favorite winter boondocking spots!

We camped here Feb 4-7 2021 and there were about 4-5 other campers on over a mile of beach. Our nearest neighbor was about 100 yards away. During the day on the weekend more people showed up for day use but there weren't ever more than 30 people on a HUGE stretch of beach. The beach can accommodate any size rig easily. The most important thing to remember when getting there.... SCOUT AHEAD! Either on foot or with a 4x4 so you can plan your route out to the beach. One wrong turn and you will be up to your frame in soft sand. But there are plenty of hard pack routes to get out there as long as you scout ahead. I saw a 45ft class A, I have a 35ft toy hauler, people were driving 2 wheel drive cars out there for the day. I did pull a Mini Cooper out that was stuck up to the frame and I almost got stuck with my 4x4 Ram truck. So planning is key. This is going to be one of my go to winter camping spots. I don't like camping with lots of people so Feb was perfect. Temps were high 50s during the day and lows were high 20s. Never more than a breeze and not a single bug to be found. Summer is a whole different story, I'm sure. Lake Powell is notorious for wind/sand storms in the afternoons but we didn't have any of that. The potable water fill, flush toilets, and showers were closed for the season but the vault toilets on the beach were open. The Pilot gas station that is a 3 minute drive has a dump station and potable water that worked out perfectly. I can't recommend this spot enough! YouTube video link: https://youtu.be/6hqRPstunaM

Mather Campground — Grand Canyon National Park

Close to South Rim Visitor Center

The sites are well spaced in the woods with picnic tables and fire rings. The bathrooms are spread out and have flush toilets (not vault). There are pay showers near the registration desk. There are no electric hookups or water hookups but there are water sources and an RV dump station. Get up early and have access to the Rim trail with few people around. By noon the trail is packed. If you get a chance stop at Desert View as well.

Guide to Jacob Lake

Jacob Lake, Arizona sits at an elevation of 8,000 feet on the Kaibab Plateau, creating cooler summer temperatures compared to lower elevations in the region. The area receives significant snowfall during winter months, with most campgrounds operating seasonally from May through October. Forest Service roads near Jacob Lake can become impassable during spring thaw when mud conditions prevent access.

What to do

Hiking near Grand Canyon North Rim: Camp at Kaibab Camper Village for easy access to North Rim trails. "Saw the north side of the Grand Canyon. Nice amenities. Not too expensive, and quiet," notes Brian M. about using the campground as a base for exploration.

ATV trails from RV parks: Kaibab Camper Village provides access to nearby off-road trails. "If you're looking to ride your dirt bike/ATV, this might be the perfect site. We didn't bring ours, but we wished we had since there are trails near by the site," explains Beth G.

Dark sky stargazing: The high elevation and minimal light pollution create exceptional stargazing conditions. "The beauty of the night sky will turn your spot into a planetarium," reports Allison from Dark Sky RV Park & Campground, located just over the Utah border.

What campers like

Clean shower facilities: Shower quality varies across campgrounds, with some requiring quarters. "The bathrooms are port-o-potties with outdoor sinks, and everything was super clean. We paid $25 for a tent spot. The showers were super clean, plus had full lockable rooms enclosing them. It was $2.25 for 5 minutes," notes Reese W. at Kaibab Camper Village.

Affordable tent options: Kaibab Paiute RV Park in Fredonia offers cost-effective tent camping. "Tent spots were $12 and there were plenty of openings so we weren't directly next to anyone which was nice," reports Rachel who appreciated the site layout.

RV park community events: Some RV parks organize social gatherings. "Every Thursday evening the owners host a dinner for the campers. We enjoyed pizza and ice cream with a choice of beverages during our stay," writes Susan G. about Grand Plateau RV Resort.

What you should know

Seasonal operations: Most Jacob Lake area campgrounds close during winter. "We stayed near the Showers and Bathrooms which was super handy. Showers are $2.25 for 5 minutes. Tall trees, super cozy," reports Erin T. about the seasonal Kaibab Camper Village.

Limited camping options: Bauers Canyon Ranch RV Park serves as an alternative when primary campgrounds fill up. "We ended up here as a last resort from other campgrounds filling up, but it was honestly much better than what we had hoped," notes one camper about finding backup accommodations.

Distance considerations: Many campgrounds advertise proximity to national parks but require significant driving time. "45 minute drive to the rim. 'Jacob Lake' is a pond - set your expectations accordingly," advises Beth G. about Kaibab Camper Village's location relative to Grand Canyon North Rim.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Grand Plateau RV Resort offers family facilities including a pool and playground. "After a day of hiking, I enjoyed unwinding in the hot tub while gazing at the star-filled sky. The pool area is equally inviting," notes one visitor.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Local campgrounds provide access to wildlife observation. "On the drive into the park you can see deer (lots at twilight) and bison," reports Beth G. about routes near Jacob Lake.

Pack for variable weather: The high elevation means temperature fluctuations, even in summer. "A cool, high elevation park for hot weather stays," notes Les G. about Kaibab Camper Village, emphasizing the temperature difference from lower desert regions.

Tips from RVers

Level site importance: Hitch-N-Post RV Park provides flat parking areas. "Sites exactly fit a 36' motorhome with extra room. My Satellite 16KS and F150 short bed were longer than the site by 4 feet," notes Jack D. about space limitations.

Water pressure considerations: Some campgrounds have high water pressure that can damage RV equipment. "Just keep in mind one thing: they have a high water pressure. So if you don't have a good hose or a pressure regulator, it might be blown. You can ask the host for lending you a reduction," advises Krzysztof at Hitch-N-Post RV Park.

Space between sites: Site spacing varies significantly between rv campgrounds near Jacob Lake, Arizona. "It's a nice campground, but the spaces are right on top of each other, which for me is undesirable.... but, if everything else is full, you'll welcome the spot!" explains Michael J. about Kaibab Camper Village.
