Best RV Parks & Resorts near Chandler Heights, AZ

Several RV parks accommodate travelers in the Mesa and Apache Junction areas near Chandler Heights. Monte Vista RV Resort provides concrete parking pads and patios at all back-in sites, suitable for rigs up to 40 feet. "This park is associated with a very large senior retirement village. All amenities you would expect and meticulously maintained," noted one visitor. Mesa Spirit RV Resort offers full hookup sites with 50-amp electrical service on rock pads that accommodate large rigs, though spaces are moderately sized with no fire rings or picnic tables provided. Both Encore Countryside and Encore Golden Sun RV Resort in Apache Junction provide year-round access with 50-amp electric, sewer, and water hookups, though reviews indicate spacing can be tight at Countryside.

Most RV parks in the area enforce age restrictions, with several being 55+ communities that maintain specific rules about noise, pets, and visitors. Dump stations are limited within parks; Monte Vista and Fiesta Grande offer sanitary dump facilities, while others require guests to use offsite services. Cellular reception is generally strong throughout the region due to proximity to Phoenix metro areas. Laundry facilities are standard at most properties, though WiFi quality varies significantly, with one reviewer noting "the park wifi really sucked" at Mesa Spirit. Pet policies differ between locations - most allow pets with restrictions, but Mesa Spirit reportedly prohibits them. During winter months, advance reservations are essential as snowbirds fill many parks from December through March.

    Picacho Peak RV Resort

    Well maintained, views for days.

This 55+ RV park and resort is well maintained. Most people appear to stay long-term, but they have short term spots available without reservations. We aren't in the "55+" age bracket, but if you call ahead, they will likely let you stay without any questions (we're 2 adults and 1 dog).

The park has a large number of park models in the back; the RV spots are in the front of the park, closer to the I-10. Most sites are pull-through sites, with some back-in sites. All sites have a view of something. Most sites have white fence panels between for privacy, but if you're staying over it might be worth driving through to check out the available sites before choosing one.

That brings me to the procedure for overnight camping here. We arrived on a weekend, so the front office wasn't open. Next to the office door, there are two clear boxes -- one with envelopes and the second with maps. The envelopes have site numbers and are available for short term stays. You can compare the site numbers to the map to make sure you get a spot perfect for you. Most sites have both 30 and 50 amps, but the map will identify the ones with only 30 amps available.

The road and train noise is noticeable outside, but not a big deal inside the camper. We did hear the trains sometimes at night, but nothing obnoxious.

The amenities are amazing: putting green, pickleball, horseshoes, dog runs, pool...you name it. The residents were friendly -- lots of golf carts, electric-assist bikes, and small dogs. Despite some large political signs, it was welcoming. We'll be back.

    Roosevelt Lake - Cholla Campground

    Great canpgroup

This was our first time camping here and we will most definitely be back. You can reserve all odd numbered campsites online. Even numbers are first come first serve. There is a boat ramp located at the front of the campground. Not ideal lake access for fishing or swimming because of steep hills down to lake. Potable water available. Dump station is currently open 24/7. Bathrooms have running water and flush toilets and also showers. Multiple playgrounds. Each spot has covered table and fire ring. Loose gravel pads. Most are fairly level. Some spots aren’t big rig accessible.

    Budget RV Park

Now called Sundance West RV Resort

I think if you're  looking for a place to winter, this is a good Campground.

Pros: Very clean, nicely landscaped for AZ, staff friendly, good grocery & dining options nearby. Lots of OTA channels, pool, corn hole, laundry, dog park, activities  etc.

Cons: pull through was long, but not quite level, WIFI does not reach the pull through sights in the back at all .... and they know it. Couldn't figure out how to hook to their cable. Permit to wash your rig $10 for the season.

Guess that should have been our first clue... they have a season. Sort of winter camp for snowbirds. If that is what you are looking for, it is very nice.

We were in the area to visit friends, dump/pump/resupply after boondocking, and do Taxes. Not having wifi was kind of a big deal for us. Being told we'd have to use the internet in the clubhouse wasn't  going to cut it. Who wants to drag all their personal financial information to a common area?

Normally  it would not have been a big deal, we do have a Hotspot, but at $431 weekly rate, $80 nightly, in this day & age, routers for wifi to the whole park should be a given.

Otherwise we did enjoy our stay here, and met some great people.

    Monte Vista RV Resort

This park really lives up to its Name “Resort”

My wife and two mini-Daschunds stayed in a 40 ft Fifth Wheel. All the sites are back-in but all have concrete parking pads and patio. Gravel surrounds each campsite and we have noticed maintenance crews raking the gravel every other day. Close to all the fun stuff on the Superstition Mountains. This park is associated with a very large senior retirement village. All amenities you would expect and meticulously maintained. All the staff that we came in contact with was very nice and helpful. You can’t go wrong staying at this park

    Picacho Peak State Park Campground

    Beautiful desert sunsets!

This is a beautiful place to camp most of the year. The Summer sun ☀️ can be brutal of course. I love to stop here on my way to New Mexico. There is something about being in the middle of the desert with the backdrop of the mountains and cactus 🌵 that just helps you breath a little better. Watching the sunset each night is breathtaking. This campground is just off the road but far enough back that you don’t hear all the road noise. Each spot has a picnic table with awning so you have some protection from the sun. Each spot has a fire pit and smaller rocks that make a nice “bed” for your tent ⛺️. The spots are pretty far apart so you don’t feel like you’re right next to your neighbor.

The campground has a total of 85 electric sites for both tent and RV camping. Sites are suitable for RVs and/or tents. You can have up to 4 cars on each site. There are 4 sites that are handicapped-accessible. Unfortunately there aren’t any water or sewer hookups available. There is a dump station available. Access to all sites is paved. Sites are fairly level and are located in a natural Sonoran Desert setting.

$30 per night / per vehicle (October – May) $25 per night / per vehicle (June – September) Additional vehicle $15 per night / per vehicle Group Camp Areas: $15 per night / per vehicle + Group Reservation FeeBoth back-ins and pull-throughs are available. No maximum size limit (except no tractor-trailers allowed).

    Cave Creek Regional Park

    Close to Town, Pretty Sunsets

While I prefer to be further out, sometimes it’s nice to be somewhere with all the services. I have a pretty basic self-converted camper van. Showers, dump station, electric and water hookups here. Gated at night, feels safe. Surrounded by homes but for its proximity to town its sunset views are fab. Close to a Frys and Home Depot. My onlllly reason for 4/5 stars is the surrounding homes have very noisy dogs. But overall this is pretty perfect for being so close to real life!

    Cave Creek Regional Park

    Great for hiking and relaxing

Maricopa County Park in Cave Creek. Very well taken care of.

The park has beautiful hiking trails and a great nature center, which offers activities.

Some hiking trails are within walking distance of the campground, others you will need to drive to.

The campground itself is very clean. It is quiet and the campsites all have electric and water hookups, picnic table and fire pit.

There is an older area, sites 1 through 42, which offers more space in between the spaces. the newer area, sites 43 through 55 are closer to each other, but still doesn't feel crowded.

    Canyon Lake Marina & Campground

    Loud but beautiful

The campground itself was decent. Clean, basic spots with fire pit and picnic table. Fairly level, very little shade. We were in spot 135 which was a higher price because it was "waterfront" but all of the spots were pretty much waterfront so really not worth the extra money. The spots on the west end had grass and trees so they were actually nicer. If you're into kayaking or paddle boarding this is a great place to go. If you go to the east it's super quiet and calm and it goes back quite far. No boats go back there, it's peaceful and gorgeous. That was our favorite part of the trip. The drive to get there was a little scary in the RV, the turns on the 88 were very tight so you have to go super slow, but it's doable. We have a 25 ft motorhome, but there were much bigger rvs there too. At night there was a lot of noise from the road, seems like the 88 is the place to go on a motorcycle and they fly by at high speeds until about 10:30 at night. Super annoying cause it's loud but it at least didn't go too late. We also did the Dolly Steamboat dinner cruise and the food was amazing and the scenery was beautiful. No sewer hookup or dump station but you can pay $20 for a pump out. All in all a good place to stay.

Guide to Chandler Heights

RV camping near Chandler Heights, Arizona offers options within driving distance of Phoenix while providing desert landscapes and mountain views. Winter temperatures typically range from 40-70°F, making the region popular with seasonal visitors from December through April. Camping facilities near Chandler Heights include several age-restricted RV resorts with varying levels of amenities and site configurations.

What to do

Hiking nearby trails: Both casual walkers and experienced hikers can access San Tan Mountain Regional Park trails, located a short drive from most RV parks. "We have met great people here and enjoy that you can walk or bikeride directly from the RV Park," notes a visitor at Eagle View RV Resort.

Casino entertainment: Some campers enjoy gaming options at nearby tribal casinos. Eagle View RV Resort is "accross the road from a casino if you like to gamble," making it convenient for evening entertainment without long drives.

Organized activities: Many RV parks offer scheduled events and classes. "This is a busy little 55+ RV community. There are many who live there full time, but many who come and go like we do. There's lots of activities like shuffleboard, pickleball, billiards, card tables, bocce ball, karaoke, bingo, concerts, seminars and exercise classes," explains a camper at Encore Fiesta Grande.

What campers like

Community atmosphere: Many campers appreciate the social aspects of these parks. A visitor to Valle Del Oro RV Resort shared, "This community has so many organized activities for residents. They have almost everything you would need on site. Everything for activities, concerts, games and shows."

Pool facilities: Swimming pools are a valued amenity in the desert climate. "We loved the three pools, multiple hot tubs and modern showers and laundry rooms," reported a camper at Mesa Spirit RV Resort, highlighting the cooling options available.

Clean, maintained grounds: Well-kept facilities receive positive feedback. A guest at Encore Fiesta Grande noted, "The sites are FHU and we were surprised how large and clean they are. If you are a Trails Collection member, this resort is free for two weeks at a time."

What you should know

Age restrictions: Most parks enforce minimum age requirements. "This 55+ community is very well organized," mentions a Mesa Spirit RV Resort visitor, while another reports being turned away: "When she showed up, she was told she would have to leave as children were not welcome."

Reservation timing: Winter months require advance planning. "This park can be hard to get into because of its popularity," notes a Mesa Spirit RV Resort camper, reinforcing the need to book early from December through March.

Site sizes vary significantly: Some parks have tight spacing issues. At Encore Countryside, a camper observed, "Spaces are close together. This park is more than a RV Park with amenities than a rv resort. I believe of 500 sites with over half the park being cabins and pad trailers."

Tips for camping with families

Check age policies: Most resorts near Chandler Heights have age restrictions. "This park is associated with a very large senior retirement village," notes a camper at Monte Vista RV Resort, indicating its primary demographic.

Consider alternate camping options: Families with children should look at regional parks rather than RV resorts. Eagle View RV Resort offers more flexibility and "walking paths and trails are throughout the park," making it more suitable for active families.
