Great campground, somewhat large and busy in the summer. Canyon gets a little humid, but the spring makes for a great refresher with its many pools and one large pool where campers dive off the rocks. Will camp here again but not in the height of summer.
Beautiful lake, wonderful views, great staff, and spacious sites. Wished there were a bit more trees though. Will be going back when we can.
Found this place last year and fell in love. It now our new annual start to camping season.
Vallecito is one of the most beautiful campgrounds I’ve been to so far. Grounds were clean, most of the campsite were large, bathrooms were kept clean, and the Vallacito creek can be heard throughout the campground. Only reason I gave it 4 not 5 stars was most furkids were not on leashes or leads so we always had pups running up on us while walking my pups. I mean I love letting my girls run free, but be more responsible people. I’d highly recommend this campsite.
Was a bit skeptical when we pulled up. Staff was perfect, very on top of this. Campground was clean, bathrooms were clean once they drained them. Of course you can only keep them as clean as the people using them. The creek, and pools were wonder and made a miserable hot day refreshing. Will camp her in the future and I highly recommend this camp.
Beautiful campground. Right next to the West Dolores river which drowns out any road noise. Private land next door has a few beautiful horses. Very pet friendly too. Very close to attractions like Mesa Verde National Park. Would have given it 5 stars if there were showers.
I grew up in this part of the state, but never knew this one existed. It’s a small campsite and not much more then vaulted toilets. But it was a very beautiful campsite. There was only a few people camping so it was very quit and peaceful. Easy access to shopping in Grants and real close to many other attractions like Bluewater lake, El Morro, and the Ice Cave. I would happily camp here again.
American Eagles and Ospreys fling around the lake and a snack shak what more could you ask for in a campground, except showers of course.
