Best RV Parks & Resorts near Pinson, AL

Several RV parks operate within 30 miles of Pinson, Alabama, providing various hookup options and site configurations. Hoover Met Complex RV Park offers full hookup sites with 50-amp service, water, and sewer connections in a stadium parking lot setting. The pull-through sites accommodate big rigs with level gravel pads. "This is about the only place in the Birmingham area to stay in an R.V. It is essentially a large parking lot with RV pull through spaces," noted one visitor. Lakeside Landing RV Park & Marina in Cropwell features waterfront sites with electric, water, and sewer hookups, though reviews indicate the sites are "very unleveled with minimal gravel but almost all have a 6x9 concrete pad." Boaz RV Park

Cheap rates, and a great location.

This is a small rv park located in Boaz Al, its just down the street from the Boaz police station so its nice and quiet. They don't have a lot of amenities like pools, or playgrounds but its great if you just need a cheap place to stay. As of this review its $20 a night for either a 30 or a 50 amp hookup along with water and sewer. The monthly rates are $400 for 30 amp sites and $500 for 50 amp sites.

    Corinth Recreation Area

    Perfectly Designed for RV Newbies!

Loved this park! It was our first trip in our new Travel Trailer and it couldn't have gone better. We stayed at Yellow Hammer site #9 easy pull through with plenty of room. Not only did all the sites have amazing scenery but the roads were well maintained. Full hookups and AT & T cellphone coverage good enough for working from Trailer. Verizon cellphone coverage didn't work here. Each site fully equipped with fire ring, picnic table, and lantern poles. Wood available for purchase from host.

Beach & Bath houses were closed due to COVID-19

We spent a lot of time walking with our kids on the trails and riding scooters around the campsite roads. Nature trails were extremely well kept with great views on the water

Best site is Yellow Hammer #17

Lakeside Landing RV Park & Marina

    One and done

The view is fantastic if you are lakeside- but it stops there. Most rentals are along one row and a couple of the lakeside sites. Sites are very unleveled with minimal gravel but almost all have a 6x9 concrete pad. No pool, no fire rings, spotty wifi and frequent brown outs on power. Both shower points smell horrible but appear clean otherwise. Lots of long-term vehicles. People are friendly and pets are welcome.

    Cherokee Campground

More of a Long Term Living Area

Most of the pads were filled with long-term residents. The owners were very nice. The rate was reasonable. Our gravel pad was not wide enough to be a) level and b) slide/awning out at the same time. The electric hook-up was at the opposite end of the pad from the water and sewer hook-ups. Some neighbors were friendly, others were a bit suspicious of us as interlopers based on how many times they walked past our area. Overall, would only stay again in a pinch.

    Oak Mountain State Park Campground

    Updates please

At the regular campground, there’s only 30amp connections. Some have sewer and some not. There is no camp wifi. Swimming is quit a distance from campground.

The campground at the stables are pull through and 50 amp and full hookups.

Noccalula Falls Park & Campground - TEMPORARILY CLOSED

    nice but cramped

we stayed in a tent site in dec '22'' , the sites are very close together and the tent  site we were on hardly had enough space for our 3 person backpacking tent . there are fire pits, grills, and tables available on each site as well as water  . we appreciated the security gate and extremely clean and heated bathhouses with showers . the park has a nice playground and a pool we were unable to try during the winter months .  the campground is very close to town and as so expect alot of noise from traffic

    Thousand Trails Hidden Cove

    Bring your boat

This RV park is right on a lake, but a bit away from anything else. If you have any sort of boat, kayak, paddle board, bring it! There is hiking about an hour away at the Bankhead National Forest.

You can pick your spot when you arrive. I like that.

A and B sections are the original sections. C section is brand new with 50 amps hookup. All the big rigs there.

I was on C74 with a great backyard overlooking the hills.

Bathhouse is brand new and squeaky clean. You can see that almost no-one uses the campground shower because one of them doesn’t have a curtain to separate your dry clothes from the water. And neither of them have a caddy or any spot where you can put your soap.

Pool was not open when I was here in April which was a shame. It was hot enough. I would have enjoyed a swim, especially so we there is not much else to do. I don’t have a boat yet. 🙁

    A decent Thousand Trails campground.

I had no reception with Verizon but my AT&T hotspot had good reception.

Guide to Pinson

RV camping near Pinson, Alabama offers diverse options within a 45-mile radius, situated in the foothills of the Appalachians. This central Alabama location provides access to both lake-based campgrounds and more urban options. Cell service varies considerably between sites, with AT&T generally providing better coverage than Verizon across most campgrounds.

What to do

Fishing access: At Lakeside Landing RV Park & Marina, campers find "great fishing!!!" according to visitor Karin L. The park sits directly on Logan Martin Lake with "store and gas station on site" for convenience when preparing for fishing trips.

Water activities: Thousand Trails Hidden Cove campers recommend bringing watercraft. "If you have any sort of boat, kayak, paddle board, bring it!" advises Mara S. The campground offers "boat ramp access" and lakeside camping with "park for walking, biking, use your boat and kayak," adds Milagros B.

Sports facilities: For active families, the Hoover Met Complex RV Park provides "super easy to get in and out. Easy hooks ups and good WiFi available. Playground and rock climbing area a plus," notes Chris G. The adjacent sports complex offers multiple recreational options during your stay.

What campers like

Peaceful atmosphere: Many visitors appreciate the quiet environment at Greensport RV Park and Campground. One camper notes it's "a bit too close together for my liking but the facilities and staff are top notch. If you bring loved ones or like to socialize, this is a good place to be."

Convenience for travelers: Campers value easy interstate access for overnight stays. "Just 2/4 mile west of interstate 65 at exit 305. All sites are full service concrete pads with good Wi-Fi and lots of channels on the tv," reports Wendy T. about Palomino RV Resort.

Water views: Lakefront sites remain popular across most campgrounds. At Safe Harbor RV Park, "the sites have full hookups. The lake is right in front of the RV. The people that work here are very very nice," shares Pam H. The lakefront setting provides scenic views without leaving your campsite.

What you should know

Site conditions vary: Level sites can be hard to find at some parks. At Lakeside Landing, sites are described as "very unleveled with minimal gravel but almost all have a 6x9 concrete pad." Consider bringing additional leveling blocks.

Limited shower facilities: Several parks lack shower houses despite having hookups. At Safe Harbor RV Park, a camper notes, "No extras, no picnic tables, no shower houses, however everyone was friendly, and we had no issues with the water/sewer/electric."

Dining options: Local restaurants near campgrounds provide alternatives to cooking. "The owner at check-in recommended The Ark restaurant to us, which is within walking distance. We ate there and it was delicious," shares Becky P. about dining near Safe Harbor RV Park.

Winter camping considerations: While most parks remain open year-round, amenities may be limited in winter. "We were here during winter, so there wasn't a lot going on," reports Jason E. about Hidden Cove, though basic services remained available.

Tips for camping with families

Children's activities: GrandStand RV Park offers family-friendly amenities. "They are in the process of putting in many very beautiful upgrades and will be a place you will want to stay for a week/month," notes one reviewer. The park provides "double dog park open all hours" for families with pets.

Playgrounds: Several parks feature playground equipment. At Hoover Met Complex, "there is a nice kids playground and you can use the facilities inside the stadium as well as the restroom at the playground," mentions Luis. However, at Hidden Cove, one camper cautions "the wood on the playground needs to be replaced," suggesting some maintenance issues.

Scheduled activities: Greensport RV Park organizes events for younger campers. One visitor appreciated the "lots of planned activities for the kids" and mentioned their 9-year-old granddaughter enjoyed the experience, making it "a great time camping this weekend."

Tips from RVers

Levelness challenges: RVers should prepare for uneven sites at some parks. At Lakeside Landing, sites are "very unleveled with minimal gravel but almost all have a 6x9 concrete pad," requiring good leveling equipment.

Power reliability: Occasional electrical issues affect some campgrounds. At Greensport, one RVer reported "we did have a low voltage issue on line one of our 50amp service," though this was attributed to the regional electric provider rather than the campground.

Security systems: Several parks implement after-hours security gates. "If you are out after 9pm the gate will be closed. Make sure you check your email or text messages as the gate is opened with a QR code that is sent to you," advises one Greensport camper.
