Best Cabin Camping near Elberta, AL

Cabin accommodations near Elberta include rustic and furnished options at several campgrounds. Gulf State Park Campground offers cabin rentals with full amenities including electricity, running water, and climate control systems. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp Resort provides cabin options with varying levels of furnishing. The Gulf Shores-Pensacola West KOA features cabin rentals with picnic tables and fire pits outside. Blue Angel Park in nearby Pensacola offers cabins and yurts as alternatives to tent camping. "The cabins are clean and have a pinterest beach vibe," noted one visitor about Navarre Beach accommodations.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Blakeley State Park features primitive "Squirrels Nest" cabins with limited amenities - essentially open-air structures with two walls and two screened walls, wooden platforms for beds, and outdoor deck space. More luxurious options include fully furnished cabins at Gulf Shores RV Resort and Sugar Sands RV Resort. Most cabin sites require advance reservations, particularly during summer months when beach access is in high demand. A camper wrote, "We stayed in one of the two Squirrels Nest, which are primitive cabins... There's a sink (but no water) and a cabinet, and outside a large deck with bench seating."

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Kitchen facilities vary widely between properties - some offer full kitchens while others provide only basic outdoor cooking equipment. Fort Pickens Campground cabins include fire pits and picnic tables for outdoor meal preparation. Bella Terra of Gulf Shores provides more upscale cabin accommodations with modern amenities. On-site camp stores at several locations, including Gulf State Park and Jellystone Park, stock basic provisions, though many visitors prefer to bring supplies or shop at nearby markets in Gulf Shores or Foley. Cabins at Military Park Pensacola Naval Air Station include cottages with more extensive furnishings than typical campground cabins.

    Blakeley State Park Campground

Very large park, hiking, camping, battlegrounds

Blakely State Park is a very large State Park, with different choices for camping. There are larger primitive tent sites, smaller tent sites with power/water hookups, RV sites, two primitive cabins and 2 newer cabins which are very nice. There's TONS of hiking, a battleground for history buffs, a playground, a boatdock, lots of hiking, horseback riding etc.

I stayed in one of the two Squirrels Nest, which are primitive cabins. Basically open air cabins. 2 walls, a roof and 2 walls of screens. There are two wooden platforms for beds. A twin and a queen, and barstools to sit inside and look out into the woods, over the hill in which they are nestled. There's a sink (but no water) and a cabinet, and outside a large deck with bench seating. Below is a fire pit and picnic table. There is a shared porta potty outside of the two cabins. These cabins are a bit of a drive out in the woods, so make sure your vehicle is up to it. It's very peaceful out there. My cabin was inhabited by mice at night, so I kept my food in airtight plastic paint bucket containers & my belongings covered by garbage bags on one of the platforms and had my air mattress inside a pop-up mosquito tent, so the mice did not bother me. I was after all in their house. I sprinkled peppermint oil around my gear & my bed platform to keep the mice away. Next time I will have my food in a large cooler so that the wildlife is not attracted.

There are hiking trails by these sites, as well as, steps down the hill, leading off into another trail.

i would stay there again. Great place to get away.

    Navarre Beach Camping Resort

    Southern Hospitality at its Best!

Staff: once again the entire staff is a living definition of southern hospitality. The moment you step on the property you are greeted with staff that actually want to be there, everyone from office, store, clubhouse and maintenance. They do an amazing job at setting a welcoming and accommodating atmosphere for all patrons. 5 STARS! Accommodations: Grounds: well maintained and clean; Pool Area: Clean and pool is HEATED. Cabins: clean and have a pinterest beach vibe! Pet Area: clean, double gated, lighted with bench poo bags supplied! Pet friendly. Pier and beach area very clean with swings and super comfortable lounge chairs to soak up all the sun and breeze. Pier is great for fishing and benches along the pier provide a great way to view sunrise and sunset. Club house: during our stay they hosted an amazing THANKSGIVING dinner and a paint night; also features a large screen tv and seating areas for those occasional rainy days. On the weekends they have breakfast on the grill, best breakfast I've had in a long time(shout out to the cook and staff:) Playground area is lighted with a box of sand toys and various other toys to keep the kidos busy. Atmosphere: There is NO OTHER campground in the area that beats the atmosphere at this campground. The staff and the care they take to make sure everyone's experience is the best is hands down the best in this area. I honestly can't think of one thing that would have made our stay more enjoyable. This is the second time I've stayed here.

    Beach front

This beach front campground is beautiful, quiet, and relaxing. Under new ownership they seem friendly and helpful. Dog friendly park that is away from the major city hubs, nothing but the beach is walkable. Our site was level with a grill, fire pit, picnic table and a wooden deck.

    Milton-Gulf Pines KOA

    Nice KOA Near Beaches

Nice campground, gravel site with small pad with picnic table and fire ring. FHU, and plenty of activities and amenities for our granddaughter. Playground, mini golf, large outdoor Connect Four game. Nice dog park, camp store and pool, but too cold to swim. Didn’t use facilities, but looked clean. Tents and cabins in backside of the park. I would reserve there if possible some interstate noise upfront. Staff friendly and took us to our site. Love the bike trails nearby.

    Mystic Springs Recreation Area

    Remote Primitive and Wild

Pros: Covered tent sites (we tent camped) portapottys, free for up to a week, boat launch, spaced out sites (pretty private). Has picnic tables, fire pits, and grills. Cons: Sites flood, lots of gaters (if you have small pets this is sketchy), gets a little busy on the weekends with the boaters, it's reaallllly far from the next town but there's a gas station 15mins away. Get gas before you go back to camp. It's beautiful and clean. About 45mins to pcola

    Meaher State Park Campground

Very close sites, on/near the Bay.

I have done tent camping at this park a couple times. All of the sites are close together and the ants are ridiculous. I had read reviews about the ants prior so I came prepared. Each site has a picnic table & fire ring. There is a boat launch, which is popular, a pier and also 2 cabins that you can rent. This is a popular park for RV's. And of course there is a shower house & covered picnic tables.

I chose a specific site with water view which was enjoyable. The street lights throughout the park are very bright, so if you're light sensitive when you sleep, use a darker tent. All the sites have power & water hookups.

    Mystic Springs Recreation Area

Primitive site with fire ring, grill, trash can, , large portapotty and nice water view.

I’ve camped at Mystic Springs numerous times. I book the group site. Very large & spacious. Perfect for a large group or multiple people. Plenty of room for several tents. It has a fire ring, grill, covered structure with 2 picnic tables, a garbage can and a large portapotty. It’s generally very quiet. It’s a gated site so to me it feels more secure. People do walk through the site occasionally but not too often. It’s primitive camping so no power & no potable water. Most sites have water view.

    Harper - Blakeley State Park

    Beautiful Well Maintained Huge Park

April 4, 2021 Camper Van Site: Harper #7 Primitive $20 Over 2,000 acres crisscrossed with trails. Interesting replication of the ghost town of Blakeley which disappeared around 1830, but before then it rivaled Mobile in population and economy. Harper loop, where I camped, is at least a mile into the woods and has no hook ups. The sites have picnic tables and fire rings and offer decent privacy. Bath house is 7 minute walk. My shower was cold. Dumpsters near bath house. Staff house nearby. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Wish I could stay more than two nights.

    RV park closer to entrance.

Guide to Elberta

Cabins near Elberta, Alabama range from waterfront accommodations to wooded retreats. Located in Baldwin County where the average summer temperature reaches 90°F, the region's coastal proximity creates humid conditions with afternoon thunderstorms common from June through September. Winter overnight temperatures can drop into the 40s, making cabin amenities particularly valuable during cooler months.

What to do

Beach exploration: 10-minute drive from most Elberta cabin sites to Gulf Shores beaches. "We had a blast taking our kids for the first time camping. This is a great place to go if you do have kids," notes a visitor about Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp Resort.

Historical sites: Fort Pickens tours provide military history lessons within 30 minutes of Elberta cabins. A visitor to Fort Pickens Campground reports, "Many parts of the fort and old batteries are open and available for exploring. Climbing on top of some of these areas offers spectacular views of the bay and gulf."

Wildlife viewing: Alligator spotting along nature trails near cabin accommodations. "Went hiking along the trails and found 3 baby gators hanging out!" shares a camper at Gulf State Park Campground.

Water activities: Fishing ponds available at several cabin sites. "There's absolutely everything you need right here! They have tent spots, cabins, rv spots, sail boat rentals, paint ball, frisbee golf, and anything else you could want!" explains a visitor to Blue Angel Park.

What campers like

Cabin variety: Premium options with outdoor amenities at higher-end resorts. A guest at Bella Terra of Gulf Shores shares: "Some more expensive sites have cabanas, outdoor kitchens, and overlook the lakes. It is fairly large which is nice for dog walking or exercising."

Family-friendly activities: Scheduled events keep children entertained at select cabin campgrounds. "The kids loved all of the Saturday activities. Campsites have a fire pit, so we made s'mores. They have a store with everything we needed, which was really nice," reports a camper at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park.

Proximity to attractions: Most cabin sites within 15-minute drive to beaches, shopping centers and entertainment. "The location is ideal to do all the Gulf Shores must-do's. The park is nice, clean, and the sites were spacious," notes a visitor about Gulf Shores RV Resort.

Water features: Swimming pools and splash pads available at several cabin locations. "We stayed in one of the bungalows and it was so pretty and had everything we needed. The restaurant in the park has great food. There are also great biking trails. Keep your eyes peeled for wonderful birds and alligators!" shares a Gulf State Park visitor.

What you should know

Reservation timing: 3-6 months advance booking recommended for waterfront cabin locations during summer season. "Sugar Sands RV Resort" is "Only 8-10 minutes to the beach. Very clean bath houses. Easy to navigate campground road with tons of room to back into back-in sites."

Cabin amenities: Bring your own linens for all cabin rentals in Elberta area. Most provide beds and basic furniture only.

Pet policies: Dog-friendly cabins available with pet fees around $10-15 per night. "The shallow waters in the bay are great for surf fishing and kayaking and there are many access points," notes a visitor to Military Park Pensacola Naval Air Station, adding "Dog friendly beach right at the campground."

Weather considerations: Hurricane season runs June through November with potential for evacuation orders. "We were escaping Nicole and after 9 hours on the road we were trying to find a place in Gulf Shores," shares a camper who found refuge at Gulf Shores RV Resort.

Tips for camping with families

Activity schedules: Check ahead for organized family events at cabin campgrounds. "Enjoy taking the grandkids to Jellystone campground in Elberta, Alabama. Lots to do with their activities, wagon rides, group s'mores campfire, fishing, crafts," a visitor explains.

Swimming options: Call about pool hours which often run 9am-8pm seasonally. "The pool is awesome! Also has a big hot tub. The park is clean. There's a dog park and they have a few small tubs of treats for the pups. The pool has extra beach balls to play with," says a camper at Pirates Cove RrrrV Park.

Educational opportunities: Naval museum visit makes an excellent day trip from cabin accommodations. "Walking distance to the Pensacola Lighthouse and National Naval Aviation Museum. Dog friendly beach right at the campground," shares a Military Park Pensacola NAS visitor.

Safety considerations: Fire pit rules vary between cabin locations with some prohibiting open fires. "Gulf State Park" features "Pretty busy with over 400+ sites but an older crowd. Very relaxing and well kept."

Tips from RVers

Site selection: Request specific location when booking cabin stays for better experience. "We prefer to stay in Loop A because there are way fewer sites in that section and you don't get the feeling of being crowded like in Loops B – E. There is also more shade in Loop A which is very welcomed in the summer," advises a Fort Pickens camper.

Seasonal considerations: Winter bookings offer lower rates and less crowding. "We camped here a couple days in our way to FL. The campground was great, they could stand to have a few more tall trees for just a little more shade - it got a bit hot being about 5 miles north of the beach," notes a Sugar Sands RV Resort visitor.

Provisioning stops: Stock up on groceries in Foley before arriving at cabin sites. "The campground is about 10 miles from the nearest convenient store or restaurant so it is best to stock up on groceries before you come," explains a Fort Pickens visitor.

Insect protection: Bring ant spray as several cabin areas report ant hills. "Bathrooms were updated and clean. Campground not near the park restaurants. Would be a long walk to get to them. Decent hookups," shares a Gulf State Park visitor.
