Best RV Parks & Resorts near Danville, AL

Several RV parks near Danville provide full-hookup motorhome sites with varying amenities. Bama Campground & RV Park features 28 sites with electric hookups, water, and sewer connections, while Quail Creek RV Resort in Hartselle offers large pull-through sites with 50-amp service ideal for bigger rigs. Thousand Trails Hidden Cove in Arley maintains year-round operation with three camping sections—the newer C section specifically designed for large motorhomes with 50-amp hookups and spacious pads. Most parks in this region have gravel sites requiring minimal leveling, with Heritage Acres RV Park featuring premium concrete pads within a quarter-inch of level. "The concrete pad was within 1/4" of level and even had two sewer connections. Included in the premium site was a nice picnic table and a smaller two person table, fire pit, and nice large marble lighting."

Road navigation deserves consideration when planning RV trips around this area. Some campgrounds have concerning entrance features—one visitor at Northgate RV Travel Park cautioned about "a deep ditch on either side of the driveway when you pull in, so keep an eye on how your rig tracks." Cell service varies significantly between parks, with Verizon reception particularly spotty at Hidden Cove where it becomes "very sketchy, and non-existent depending on where you are in the campground." Several parks offer on-site dump stations, though availability of other amenities differs considerably. Pet policies generally permit dogs at most locations, with some parks providing designated pet areas. During peak seasons, especially in fall when foliage viewing increases tourism, advance reservations become essential as many parks fill quickly, particularly for the limited number of 50-amp full-hookup sites.

    Heritage Acres RV Park

    Up and coming RV park!

This RV park was still heavily under construction while we were there. In fact, I believe we were the first people to stay in our spot, a premium pull through. The playground was in the process of being completed and the game room wasn't functional yet but you can tell the owners are investing a lot of time and money!

The concrete pad was within 1/4" of level and even had two sewer connections. Included in the premium site was a nice picnic table and a smaller two person table, fire pit, and nice large marble lighting.

    Monte Sano State Park Campground

Top of the Mountain with Great Views

We heard from other campers that if you go to Huntsville, Alabama that you have to stop at Monte Sano State Park. We took our Class C up the mountain and was able to reserve full hookups in a nicely wooded area. Sites were level gravel with picnic tables and grill. Great place to bring a trail bike or take hikes. Pet friendly.

Redstone Arsenal RV Park & Campground

    Nice Military FAMCAMP

The campground(CG) was easy to find for our mid-October stay. We exited off on 14A to gate 9 where we went through the gate and then did a u-turn to take us back down past the golf course to the CG. We had no problem doing the u-turn with our 40' fifth wheel. We followed the signage to the CG and then into pull-through site 21 with FHUs. There was no formal check-in, but our name and stay dates were on the site post. The pads here are huge and the utilities including 50 AMP worked well. We got 3 bars on Verizon and 2 bars on T-Mobile along with a large selection of OTA channels. We could have used satellite as there are no trees near the RV sites. They have a nice fenced dog park plus a shower and laundry facility with 4 machines each costing$1. The WiFi worked well for a CG this size. Use Gate 8 near the commissary and BX versus 9. Gate 8 gives you an easier drive to the campground. Overall we enjoyed our overnight stay.

    Corinth Recreation Area

    Perfectly Designed for RV Newbies!

Loved this park! It was our first trip in our new Travel Trailer and it couldn't have gone better. We stayed at Yellow Hammer site #9 easy pull through with plenty of room. Not only did all the sites have amazing scenery but the roads were well maintained. Full hookups and AT & T cellphone coverage good enough for working from Trailer. Verizon cellphone coverage didn't work here. Each site fully equipped with fire ring, picnic table, and lantern poles. Wood available for purchase from host.

Beach & Bath houses were closed due to COVID-19

We spent a lot of time walking with our kids on the trails and riding scooters around the campsite roads. Nature trails were extremely well kept with great views on the water

Best site is Yellow Hammer #17

    Northgate RV Travel Park

    Northgate Camp Ground

This is a nice off the interstate travel park. Full hook ups. Pull through sights plenty long enough for our 40+ ft. motorhome with tow vehicle. Pull in at night out in the morning. Simple and not fancy. But fits the bill when needing a place with electricity and dump and fill water!

    Joe Wheeler State Park Campground

    Joe Wheeler is open

Basically there are two sections to this park. The newer section is very big rig orientated. Having been rebuilt due to hurricane, wide roomy sites well spaced, but not a tree in site. All sites both old & new are full hook up. The older section is very, very tight and not a one very level. The older section is fully treed, which makes things even tighter.

Good ATT & Verizon cell service. No wifi in campgrounds Not my first choice, bu it worked.

    Northgate RV Travel Park

    Good for Our Needs

Our GPS brought us right into the campground (CG) that is conveniently located off I-65 and US-31. Check in was pleasant and quick. They take cash or check. We were assigned pull through site D-1(water and electric 50/30/20 AMP) behind the office. The advantage of this site, is that it has a yard area as the other sites do not. This is a bare bones CG with no amenities. Most of the sites have FHUs. The pad was plenty long enough for our 40’ fifth wheel and F450 plus fairly level. However, if you unhook and leave, you have a long, slightly curved road to back up on to get back in position to hook your rig up unless the site next to you is empty. The utilities are in the middle of the pad and you can maneuver to suit your needs. Water pressure was good at 50 psi and we got 4 bars on Verizon. There’s no Wifi here but due to this CG being a parking lot, no issues with satellite. Like other reviewers stated, there’s a deep ditch on either side of the driveway when you pull in, so keep an eye on how your rig tracks. This CG filled up the Saturday to Sunday we overnighted and we were assigned one of the few water and electric only sites, but were still charged$45 same as the FHU sites? Overall, this CG worked for our needs.

    Thousand Trails Hidden Cove

    Bring your boat

This RV park is right on a lake, but a bit away from anything else. If you have any sort of boat, kayak, paddle board, bring it! There is hiking about an hour away at the Bankhead National Forest.

You can pick your spot when you arrive. I like that.

A and B sections are the original sections. C section is brand new with 50 amps hookup. All the big rigs there.

I was on C74 with a great backyard overlooking the hills.

Bathhouse is brand new and squeaky clean. You can see that almost no-one uses the campground shower because one of them doesn’t have a curtain to separate your dry clothes from the water. And neither of them have a caddy or any spot where you can put your soap.

Pool was not open when I was here in April which was a shame. It was hot enough. I would have enjoyed a swim, especially so we there is not much else to do. I don’t have a boat yet. 🙁

    A decent Thousand Trails campground.

I had no reception with Verizon but my AT&T hotspot had good reception.
