Hiking and biking enthusiasts will find direct trail access from Yellow Pine Campground, a Forest Service facility that accommodates both tent campers and RVs with water hookups. Located in Medicine Bow National Forest near Buford, the campground sits at $20 per night and welcomes pets, campfires, and alcohol.
The campground features a mix of pull-through and back-in sites, with most positioned in open terrain that provides views of surrounding hills. Sites along the outer edges offer some separation from neighbors through small trees, though these provide limited shade for hammocking or afternoon relief. "Everyone was very quiet when we were here," notes Sam Y., reflecting the respectful atmosphere despite the campground's popularity. The facility includes recently constructed restrooms that campers consistently describe as clean.
Sites accommodate large RVs, and the campground sees heavy use during peak season. Middle sites tend to be closer together, while perimeter spots offer more space. Fishing opportunities and equestrian trails complement the hiking and biking access. For those exploring the broader region, campgrounds near Medicine Bow National Forest provide additional options.
Reserve ahead during summer weekends, as this popular base camp for forest recreation fills quickly.
