The Cottonwood Campground is a developed camping site an semi-alpine setting. The site features 18 campsites, fire rings, water, picnic tables, Accessible vault toilets, garbage collection, and can accommodate large recreational vehicles. Season of use runs June 1 to October 31. The Green Mountain Loop Road above the campground is open June 15 - December 1.
Wild Iris is one of the most beautiful sport climbing areas in the U.S. It's hard to beat a warm summer day spent climbing the white limestone pockets of Wild Iris. And to top it off, you'll belay comfortably beneath a peaceful canopy of aspen trees. Sublime. The climbs are mostly short, and occasionally sharp, but the climbing and experience is more than enough to compensate for these minor drawbacks. There are plenty of routes from 5.9 on up to 5.14, so most climbers will find more than enough to stay busy. Wild Iris is located at Limestone Mountain at an elevation of 9,000 feet. The climbing season begins when the snow melts (early June) and can last into Fall. The high altitude makes summer climbing pleasant, but be aware that the weather can change at any moment - wind and cold storms are common all summer. Many of the climbs face south, so also be prepared for warm temps! Remember this is Wyoming - land of the extremes! A number of primitive spots are available for camping, and an outhouse is located just up from the main parking lot. Closest supplies are located in Lander. The Lander Bar comes highly recommended for food and drink - it's a climbing tradition!

Green Mountain is located in southcentral Wyoming about ten miles south of Jeffrey City and about 50 miles northwest of Rawlins (as the crow flies). It contains the Cottonwood Campground, the only developed recreation facilities in an alpine setting in a several hundred square-mile area. Named for the green timber which covers it, Green Mountain and its neighbors, Crooks Mountain to the west and Whiskey Peak to the east, comprise a small mountain range by Rocky Mountain standards. Green Mountain has no hard rock core but was formed from sediments eroded from the much older Granite Mountains just to the north. Crooks Mountain and its adjacent Crooks Gap and Crooks Peak were named after Civil War veteran and Indian fighter General George H. Crook. The area has spectacular views of the surrounding Wyoming landscapes and excellent deer and elk hunting. If you're a rock hunter, both jade and agate are found in the surrounding areas. Wild horses can be seen in the area year-round. Green Mountain does have a seasonal closure that runs from December 1 to June 15.

The site is somewhat remote with a 10(+) mile drive along a rough gravel road. Once you get into the treeline it's becomes very scenic especially in the fall with the Aspens turning colors. Great campsites with tables and fire rings set along a mountain stream.

TravelerNice, clean, and quiet. This campground is a high quality BLM site. Spaced out well, in the pine trees. Beats crowded, packed in gravel CG's any day. The GPS coordinates posted are wrong. Use these instead. 42.305400 N 108432568 W at 8,219 ft. elevation. The camp host gave us things to do, and directions. We didn't go to "Miners Delight", but did go to "Atlantic City", and "South Pass City". Atlantic City has a walking tour map, that can be picked up on Main street near the Mercantile location. It was fun to follow the map and see the sites. South Pass City has a restored mining town section. Very interesting to see. It's more of a museum setting, vs the usual souvenir selling tourist trap. Fun to explore and see how the miners lived back then. Highly recommend.

GuideJust what we needed driving from the Tetons back to Denver. It was easy to find, was right on the route, and was far enough from the highway that traffic was just gentle light noise. Felt very safe! When you turn off you’ll see a sign that says “Mineral Road X” and the coordinates on this listing took us right to a large, gravel/dirt patch. Plenty of room to camp! I enjoyed a night of cowboy camping under the stars. There were quite a few mosquitoes though! Bring your bug spray!

Tucked back in a quiet neighborhood. Friendly, helpful office manager. Bathrooms were big, modern, and clean with separate shower rooms. 50 cents for 5 minutes per shower with plenty of hot water. Sites were level & easy to get into. Nothing fancy - just a good overnight spot.

We planned to stay for at least couple of nights but following morning after with beautiful sunshine, clouds gathered and viscus thunderstorm arrived from nowhere. Blowed our seat cushions away to nearby creek, which had pretty strong flow and current. It started to feel unsafe and we quickly packed and left. It was a shame as the site and location was very nice.

TravelerSet several miles from the highway down a gravel road. If using a gps do not turn into the grass path, there’s an actual gravel road about another 200 feet or so. The gravel road leading into it can be quite narrow.
Absolutely stunning site. There’s a stream that runs through some of the campsites (they have bridges over it). You pay (self register, $6 a night) on site (first come first serve so take a quick spin to find an open spot before registering). The bulletin board where you do this is a ways into the camp but impossible to miss.
I went in October and it was very cold at night. Also lots of hunters there for Antelope. I didn’t get to poke around as much as I wanted as I had no orange clothing with me. 
GuideThis is a very nice campsite. The campsite host was super nice and helpful and recommended the perfect campsite for us. The whole area was very clean as well as the toilets. The sites themselves are very spacious and well kept. For $6 a night it’s pretty impressive. Potable water is also readily available.

GuideThe camping spots are immaculate and there are plenty to choose from (hypothetically) however, I arrived at 3:30pm on a tuesday and there were barely any spots left. The cell service for verizon at the campsite was also terrible, i hiked about a mile around and up the mountain for two bars to text family but nothing at camp. Bathrooms are okay, better than nothing ! The road is also hard on cars, especially 2WD but it is possible!

GuideRoad in is in good shape. Sites are fairly large and we were able to find one with our 39ft fifth wheel without a problem! When you get the the hiking parking lot/bathroom, stay left. Great views of the quarry and surrounding valleys. Verizon cell signal is decent, was able to stream movie at night with light much delay. My husband worked during the day on his hotspot, only had a little interference when heavy clouds moved in later in the day.

This camp is right across the hill from the larger Atlantic campground. They are very similar in what they have and offer. It isn’t as big as the larger Atlantic camp which is nice to have less crowds.
It is $6 a night which a a bargain for the site. You have lots of trees, picnic tables, fire pits, a bathroom and a hand powered pump!

The office staff was really friendly and very efficient. Gravel site required minimal leveling. There are some shade trees. Not much to look at aesthetically, but had what we needed for a one night stay.
Good news is electrical and water all worked the way it is supposed to!
GuideWe needed a couple of days rest. Stayed here in a back in site FHU’s 30amp didn’t use the facilities. The lady was supper nice at check in. It is just dirt and gravel no grass or trees. Pinedale Wy. is 10 miles from the RV park. It’s not pretty but the 30amp was very strong and AT&T was good and Sprint was full bars with MIMO. Very quiet it’s a good spot for a short stay.
TravelerThe spots were shady and it was not crowded at all. There were only about 5 other groups at the campground. You could even walk down to the lake. It got a bit windy at night. This campground is also nearby Devil’s Tower Nat’l Monument, which is a can’t miss if you’re in this area of Wyoming.
TravelerSite 17 has two picnic tables, one on the gravel parking pad and one down a short flight of steps. The fire ring is by the bottom picnic table. The entire campground was clean including the vault toilets.

ScoutIt was very noisy with rucks blasting by on the freeway. The site wasn’t very clean and all close together in a gravel parking lot. We hooked up to the water and when I tried to cook with it, the water smelled and had some stuff floating in it. It didn’t seem safe to use, so we unhooked and had to use the reserve in our tank.
RangerNice stop for other destinations. A little right and smaller. Close to Scenic byway by Boysen State Park. Wouldn’t recommend for longer stay as there are so many other fantastic campgrounds in this area.

This is my second time staying here, it’s not bad. Definitely windy and there are few spots with trees but not really. The water is great especially if you have a boat, or paddle board. The big negative to me is the bathroom situation there really far away for some spots. But all in all it’s good spot to stay!
