    Bewabic State Park Campground

    Semi Private Campsites

Campground was well maintained. When we arrived there was no one working the check in station however we were able to use the phone provided and get checked in to our site. Campground is on a lake and there is a nice hiking trail around the island. The site we stayed in was surrounded by trees giving us some privacy. The only thing I was not satisfied with was the fact that the bathroom smelled like cigarette smoke, there was however a no smoking sign posted.

    Lost Lake Cabins

Cabins only at this location but just down the road is a campground

The road in to the cabin campground is beautiful. Tall trees stand guard as you enter an even more peaceful area than the forest you were driving through.

There is a communal parking area with a few of the cabins in sight. You can reserve the cabins individually or get several for your family or group. You can see some recreation areas near the parking area.

The Lost Lake Campground is just down the road. This has a larger beach and boat launch. The lake is perfect for fishing. There are also several short trails and longer ones nearby.

Drive a bit further than Lost Lake Campground to Chipmunk Rapids Campground. There you will find a wonderful artesian well where you can fill up on great drinking water.

    Paint River Hills Campground

Quiet campground right by town and ORV trails.

Great little campground. It's small, clean and quiet. You self register for check-in, there's a bathroom building with 3 stalls and two showers(women) and hot water. We purchased an RV site($20) even though we were camping in a tent so our truck and trailer would fit and it comes with water and electricity at the camp site. Each campsite comes with a picnic table and fire ring. The ORV Route is right outside the campground entrance and you can ride to the trail. You can also get ice and gas at the gas station in town by taking the alley. We stayed again in 2020 in Our RV. They have 4 pull through sites with full hook-ups;$25 a night. 50/20 amps, high water pressure.

    Hi-Pines Campground

Wide open space great if you have kids!

This campground is wide and very open. We arrived on a Sunday and the weekend crowd had cleared out, so nice and quiet. One thing is— do not plan on doing laundry on a Monday. The personnel use all the machines to wash linens and towels from the cabins after folks check out. One dryer did not heat very well. The entry to the laundry is a step up and I stubbed my toe because the threshold was not secured.

    Pine Valley Lodge

Great view, Cabins run down and Beach was a mess

We have been coming here for a long time. It is under new management and we thought things would get better. While we were here other guests trashed the beach and had dogs running and using the bathroom throughout the campsite. The rules for dogs were to keep them on leashes and clean up after them. These rules were not being followed which caused the beach, in the past is lovely, but with the dogs using it as a bathroom the beach smelt like poop. Nobody in our week of staying cleaned up after them so we needed to go somewhere else to swim. If your place is pet friendly please make sure to keep up with your own rules. The cabins are run down but showers are hot and the utilities are still able to be used

    Peshtigo River Campground

Great for Families and a weekend getaway!

I grew up about 10 minutes away from this campground and it is still an awesome place to go when we are looking for a “staycation”!

It’s right by an elementary school so it’s a very safe area, across the road from an AMAZING playground that all ages will love, also about 50ft from a beach! The beach isn’t huge, and is open to the public so at times it gets crowded but is very safe and clean. The beach is on the peshtigo river and is great for kayaking, paddle boarding, boating, jet skiing, and tubing! There is a boat launch less than half a mile towards town on the river that is open to the public! Also includes a skatepark!

There also are two pavilions on parks grounds, both covered. One is smaller on the beach and includes grills and tables, and the other one has a stage on it for performances!

This campground is a mix between RV’s and tenting so you get the best of both worlds! Forget some necessities? No Worries! You’re a 10 minuet drive from Walmart and within walking distance of a cafe and gas stations! There are bathrooms, water hook ups, picnic tables, fire pits, and parking.

(I unfortunately do not have any recent pictures because I lost all of them but google really does a great job of showing what I’m talking about!)

    Pine Grove Campground

    Halloween starts early here!

This weekend there was a screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas (one of our favorites) and loads of cool decked out campsites. Only a few places with full hook up and ALL by the dump station. Nice amenities, lake, splash pads, mini golf, splash pad outdoor pool, golf car rentals, outdoor movies, a full size haunted house!

    Peshtigo River Campground

    Beautiful Spot on the RIver

A few years back, I was a briefly a white water rafting guide for a company that rode on both the Menominee and Peshtigo Rivers. This camp does a great job on their tubing and river-based activities. People come from far and wide to enjoy the camp's outdoor offerings. The campground has a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes it easy to stick around. The cabin are cozy and well furnished. I only regret that I hadn't visited sooner!

Diamond Lake Family Campground and Trout Farm

    Family Oriented, Family Operated

My friends and I love camping here because of the huge wooded sites, quiet family environment, and excellent service provided by Jen, Joe and their whole family. As a privately owned campground, they take their rules and security seriously to make sure their campground is safe, clean, fun, and quiet (during quiet hours). If you're looking for the party campground, this isn't it. If you're looking for lake fun (no boats) during the day and relaxing by the fire at night, this place is a must.

Guide to Wabeno

Cabin rentals near Wabeno, Wisconsin provide accommodations throughout the Nicolet National Forest region where elevations range from 1,600 to 1,750 feet. Winter temperatures often drop below zero with summer averages in the mid-70s. Most cabin facilities remain open during winter months but require reservations 3-6 months in advance for summer weekends.

What to do

Waterfall exploration: Several waterfall hikes connect to camping areas within 30 miles of Wabeno. Goodman Park offers "private sites and spacious grounds" with "beautiful waterfalls and creeks to swim in within a very short walk," according to visitor Elisha S.

Slippery Rock adventures: A unique natural water slide awaits at Chute Pond Park, where hiking trails lead to this local favorite. Emily K. notes: "Slippery Rock is a waterfall from the river that you can actually slide down. They also have a rock you can jump off as well into water."

Fishing opportunities: Multiple lakes provide fishing access near cabin sites. Pete W. from Chute Pond Park shares, "fishing is also good for the outdoors men or women," while other visitors mention Jack Lake and Game Lake as productive fishing spots with species including bass, panfish and pike.

What campers like

Spacious, forested sites: Campgrounds in the area offer more private settings than typical RV parks. At Goodman Park, Kimberly M. appreciates that it is "very well maintained and managed. Very nicely wooded. So gives privacy to sites."

Clean facilities: Bathroom and shower buildings receive consistent praise at several locations. Beth M. from Heavens Up North Family Campground notes: "Clean, friendly staff, not trying to nickel and dime you for everything. Reasonable prices, good services."

Camp stores: On-site conveniences prevent trips into town for forgotten items. Amy A. from River Forest Campground reports they have "a convenience store that magically has anything anyone may ever forget for peace of mind that you won't have to leave your secluded nature sanctuary."

What you should know

Site accessibility varies: Not all cabin locations accommodate larger vehicles. At River Forest Campground and Outdoor Retreats, Emily W. found "the site we booked was very level and spacious for our toy hauler," but other locations have more limited access.

Pet policies differ: While many cabins allow pets, restrictions apply at certain locations. Wildman Adventure Resort prohibits pets at their cabin facilities, while Kosirs Rapid Rafts and Campground and many others allow them with damage deposits ranging from $25-50.

Amenity variations: Cabin interiors range from rustic to furnished. Ron G. describes River Forest as "very rustic," while others offer more comforts. Campground reservations fill quickly between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Several cabin locations maintain play equipment for children. Langlade County Veterans Memorial Park receives praise from Rebecca B.: "This county park hits all the important stuff. Great sites. Electric sites. Nice restrooms with flush toilets/showers. Store. Fireword on site. Clear water for swimming and no motorized boats. Playground, sand volleyball court."

Swimming areas: Natural swimming holes provide cooling options during summer months. Two Snoops notes that Chute Pond Park is "Very children and family oriented, some shorter trails, fishing area, playground, beach."

Recreational rentals: Kayaks and boats available at some locations save packing space. Makenzie S. mentions: "This year they also have now available kayaks for rent at $20 per hour" at Chute Pond Park.

Tips from RVers

Site grading considerations: Not all cabin and RV sites are level in this hilly region. Kristine O. from Holly Wood Hill Campground notes the area is "vary hilly" while Tonya B. warns "Yards on upper sites are cramped and unlevel."

Dump station access: RV campers should verify dump station availability before booking. Tonya B. reports at Holly Wood Hill: "Dump site is unlevel and leans away from hose hookup making it difficult to fully flush holding tanks. Driveway to get in and out of dump site is rough and quite tight for a camper longer than 35ft to maneuver around."

Winter utilities: Only select cabins maintain water and electrical services during winter. Charles M. from Langlade County Veterans Memorial Park participated in their "Frozen Butthang 2023" winter camping event, noting he "Loved the whole experience, the cold, the snow, the hammock camping."
