Really nice spot, but not well cared for

There are 3 different camping areas: Peninsula North, South, and West. We stayed at Peninsula North. All three sites are dispersed, so no water and minimum amenities. It was a beautiful spot right up the hill from the water. The bathrooms were all closed when we got there (not sure why, under-staffing maybe), so there was toilet paper everywhere. There was also a decent bit of trash, which is always frustrating to see. Overall it was a beautiful and free place to spend Labor day weekend when everything else was very crowded.

Waterfront property

See my related reviews for Peninsula Camp ground for more information leading up the final camp site.

Really crowded area with limited parking. However, if you arrive early enough you could occupy one of the few tent sites on the narrow peninsula portions of this area. The facilities here needed some real attention.

Bring your kayak, boat, or fishing rod and enjoy your day. I took a couple of photos looking back at it as that was the best way view the area without walking through camp sites.

The air field had a large dumpster and was home to several RVs. There is access to a few more camping spots along the lake shore.

Frequently Asked Questions

What facilities and amenities does Peninsula Campground offer?

Peninsula Campground features dispersed camping with minimal amenities. The campground is divided into three areas (North, South, and West), all offering primitive camping experiences. There are no water hookups available. Bathroom facilities exist but may be closed at times due to maintenance or staffing issues. The campground has limited parking, especially during busy periods. For tent campers, there are select sites located directly on the narrow peninsula portions with proximity to the water. Due to its primitive nature, campers should come prepared with their own water and supplies.

Where is Peninsula Campground located at Rimrock Lake?

Peninsula Campground is situated at Rimrock Lake in Washington State. The campground is divided into three distinct areas: Peninsula North, South, and West. Each section occupies different portions of a narrow peninsula that extends into Rimrock Lake, providing waterfront access and views. The peninsula setting creates a unique camping experience with water visible from multiple directions. Due to its layout on the peninsula, parking can be limited, especially during peak times.

What boating and water recreation options are available at Peninsula Campground?

Peninsula Campground offers excellent water recreation opportunities due to its location on Rimrock Lake. The campground provides direct water access, particularly for sites situated on the peninsula. Boating is a popular activity, with opportunities to launch watercraft nearby. The North section of the campground is positioned just up the hill from the water, allowing for easy lake access. The peninsula setting creates multiple water access points for swimming, fishing, and other water activities. Visitors should be prepared for potentially crowded conditions during peak season as this is a popular water recreation destination.

What do visitor photos reveal about Peninsula Campground?

Photos of Peninsula Campground showcase its distinctive peninsula setting with multiple water views. The three camping areas (North, South, and West) display different perspectives of Rimrock Lake, with some sites positioned directly on the narrow peninsula and others set slightly higher with overlooking views. Images reveal the primitive, dispersed nature of the campsites with minimal development. The North area appears to have sites positioned up the hill from the water's edge. Visual documentation highlights both the beauty of the lakeside setting and the somewhat crowded conditions that can develop during popular times. The natural environment with lake views is clearly the campground's defining feature.
