Dump stations are available at Wine Country RV Park and Horn Rapids RV Resort, though not all parks offer this service on-site. Cell service is generally strong throughout the area, with Verizon coverage reported as reliable at most locations. Pet policies vary between properties—Wine Country and Horn Rapids welcome pets, while Kiona West prohibits them entirely. The proximity to wineries makes these parks popular destinations, with several tasting rooms within walking distance of Wine Country RV Park. Winter travelers should confirm water hookup availability, as some parks winterize certain systems during colder months.

    Wine Country RV Park

    Quiet Overnight in Wine Country

I typically rate campgrounds as they fit into 1 of 5 categories. This campground will be rated as an “along the way” stay — grounds that you seek out for a night or two as a place to simply stay the night along your journey to regroup and get some sleep. Ratings for this category are based on: Cost: 4 Overall grounds: 4 Utility of sites (hookups, level ground, accessibility): 4 Noise: 5 Reservation Process/Ease of Getting a Site: 5 Layout: 4 Customer Service: 5

We only stayed at Wine Country RV Park as an overnight along our way, however, this could be a nice basecamp spot for people who love exploring wineries. The small town of Prosser has almost 30 wineries and tasting rooms in the immediate area and this park is in the midst of them all.

The staff is quite friendly and they offer tastings from local wineries in their community room frequently. It’s worth mentioning that mask-wearing seems to be finished here. To each their own, but I know it’s still very important to some.

The grounds are mostly well-kept though we did see some dog poop as we were walking around and some long term residents that took up more than their own space. The grounds are big-rig friendly and there is some grass between spaces. Premium sites have concrete pads while the lower cost sites are just gravel. The pads are mostly level, but slope upwards in some spots so unhitching can be just a little tricky. There is no privacy between sites, but the sites are wide enough for slide outs and chairs. Hookups were good, wifi was good enough for streaming (the park was only about 1/4 full while we were there). There is a pool and hot tub, both of which were closed for winter, and a small playground and basketball hoop for kids.

Price is reasonable, if a little high, for being in the middle of a bunch of wineries, and they take Good Sam and other membership discounts. The area is quaint with lots of farms (and some of the smells that go along with it). There is a cute bakery just over the bridge in the historic area of town called Jade’s. Give them a visit! Also, for runners/walkers/bikers... there is a very long path system that goes from Prosser and along the highway for miles into Sunnyside! It’s accessible about 1/2 mile from the park. Also walking distance is Vintner’s Village with a series of tasting rooms to visit.

A nice find for both passing through or staying a while longer if you’re into wines!

    Pioneer RV Park

Home is where you park it.

Great park for overnight, short term or long term. Moved in 11/25/19, today is 03/22/20. Full hook ups, incl water, sewer, garbage. Electrical is extra. Great people in the office. Park is paved grass at every sight. Close to town, convenient store close by. Showers, restrooms and laundry available for campers.

    Pasco Tri-Cities KOA

Good stop for a long drive - very friendly and helpful staff

We stayed here for one night on July 26, 2018.

The park is tight with very narrow spaces but well maintained. We were only stopping for one night on the way home and having a level, nice pull-through site, with hookups was nice. We never even unhooked the trailer but was spot on level. The park is pretty packed with many long-term residents visible through more permanent porches, 100 gallon propane hook up, and lots of potted plants.  Since we were traveling and the park was so clean, it didn't bother me at all but others have made note of that.

There is both dumpsters onsite but also site pickup of garbage by the park. That’s a nice unexpected service. The pool and laundry closes at 8pm but the showers are open 24 hours. The greeter was very nice and helpful, couldn't ask for any more.

    Circle H RV Ranch

    Disappointing

Moon travel guide said this was scenic rating of 8 out of 10. Yeah right!! This is mostly full time RVers. It’s right by a highway so there’s highway noise all night. The other side stares into an RV sales lot - ugly. Site 32’s hookups we’re broken - electricity wired wrong on both 30 & 50 amp(glad we caught it before plugging in!), water hookup wouldn’t flow. Will never stay here again, definitely not worth $57/night.

    Columbia Sun RV Resort

Great place even though in town

Although you can hear the traffic going by still a nice park. This is the trade off with being close to town but being close to civilization allowed us to go get items we needed and not have to rely on the usually overpriced camp stores. Enjoyed the pool and event centers. ALOT of full timers which doesn't bother me - not sure if we bothered them. No firepits but we knew that before going - brought a propane fire pit with us. Wifi was being upgraded but cell service with Verizon wasn't an issue. Will go back.

    Pasco Tri-Cities KOA

    Good 2nt wtop

    KOA Pasco/Tri Cities

    Pasco, WA

    #221, New section

    Gravel, easily leveled,  pull Through

Grass area between sites with picnic table.

Plenty long enough, did not have to disconnect

WIFI.... there but not very strong

    V 4g/3b, ATT 4g/2b ( no booster)

2nt stop to visit a friend in Walla Walla, which was busy with their Fall Fair and had no RV spots open.

Escorted to our sight. Nick was very helpful with local info on where to find what.

There is some road noise. We didn't hear it in our rig with the AC on, but you will hear it if outside.

Nice pool area,  playground for the kids.

Laundry is a little small for a park this size,  but it wasn't busy and we didn't have to wait.

Did not use the new bathrooms.

Access from the highway was good, and new section roads are easily navigable in a larger rig.

They do water at night, so don't leave anything out that can't get wet.

We would stay here again when in the area.

    Horn Rapids RV Resort

    Deluxe Park

OK, I need to be clear this is not really “camping” camping but more like glamping. This RV park is the best maintained park I have ever seen. The lots are not real big, but the landscaping is pristine ( think golf course) and overall the park is meticulously maintained. There is a really nice pool and hot tub, laundry room, showers, and a very nicely stocked store that includes hot food available. (Though we did not take advantage of that). Most of the sites here are taken up by permanent/long-term residents but there is no sense that they are junkie or like some parks like this end up looking, and there are plenty of short term/camper spots. We stayed here two nights visiting relatives who live here permanently.

    Fishhook Park

Remote CoE Campground on Lake Sacajawea

General: 41 RV sites with water and electric plus 11 tent sites in a grassy common area.

Site Quality: Reasonable separation between the sites. The back-in sites are wide enough to comfortably fit a TT, 5th wheel or RV and your toad or other vehicle side-by-side. The pull-through sites are very large. All sites have gravel camper pads and most appeared very level or had a level area. Our site, along with several others, had a nice view of Lake Sacajawea.

Bath/Shower house: Clean even if a little dated. Didn’t use the shower so cannot comment on that except that the hooks are located outside of the shower stalls so even though there is a swinging door to the shower area, privacy is compromised a bit by this design.

Activities: Unless you have a boat (there is a boat launch and dock), not too much to do here except relax. There is a small swimming area but no beach to speak of (grassy and pebbly area). There is a playground and horseshoe pits but no hiking trails that I could see.

To get to this campground, you drive past many miles of apple orchards and then suddenly, you see the lake and campground. There are quite a few trees for shade. Surprisingly good cell (Verizon) given the remoteness of the campground. Be aware there are train tracks nearby and you will hear an occasional loud train. It was very quiet on the Wednesday before Labor Day, but we were told it would be completely full on the weekend.

    Crow Butte Park

Good Public Campground on the Columnbia River

Just off Washington SR 14, on an island in the Columbia River, connected by a short causeway to the mainland.  The campsites lie on the landward side of a sandy butte that dominates the small island.  Trails over and around the butte (no rattlesnakes seen, though signs warned about them) provide great vistas of the Columbia River. Campsites are well-spaced (both back-in and pull-through), with electric and non-electric options. Reasonable cost for a full hookup at $40/night.  Showers said to be available, but we didn't use or see them.  As others have mentioned, the campground can be windy, although the higher numbered sites, roughly 32-50 (toward the butte, away from the mainland) tend to be calmer.

Guide to Prosser

RV parks near Prosser, Washington serve as convenient basements for exploring the Yakima Valley wine region, located at the eastern edge of the Columbia Basin. Average summer temperatures reach 90°F with less than 8 inches of annual rainfall, creating a desert climate ideal for vineyards. Most campgrounds in this area remain open year-round, though winter campers should confirm water hookup availability as temperatures can drop below freezing from November through February.

What to do

Wine tasting excursions: Visit dozens of wineries within a 20-mile radius of Prosser. Wine Country RV Park guests mention the convenience of nearby tasting rooms. "Great RV park on the heart of wine country," notes Louann R., while another camper points out that "Vintner's Village with a series of tasting rooms" is within walking distance.

Riverside activities: Explore the Yakima River for fishing, kayaking, and swimming during summer months. Beach RV Park sits directly on the water, offering easy access. "It's nice down by the water you can swim or fish. It also has a nice view of the sunset," says Michelle M.

Golfing: Several courses dot the Tri-Cities area, including one adjacent to Horn Rapids RV Resort. "Wow was this place fancy! If you're looking for a full-service sort of experience, look no further! Fantastic amenities and right across from a major golf course," explains Rachel A.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Many RV parks prioritize cleanliness, with bathroom facilities regularly maintained. At Columbia Sun RV Resort, campers appreciate the "beautiful golf course quality" grounds. "Gorgeous location on the outskirts of town. Has all the amenities and activities you want in a semi-urban RC resort / glamping get away. Heated pool and hot tub, game room and more. Excellent bathroom Facilites as well," notes Jeff M.

Spacious sites: Several parks offer room to spread out, with concrete or gravel pads. One camper at Columbia Sun describes it as "nice, clean, tidy, organised" with "lovely staff."

Walking paths: The area features extensive trail systems ideal for morning walks or bike rides. "For runners/walkers/bikers... there is a very long path system that goes from Prosser and along the highway for miles into Sunnyside! It's accessible about 1/2 mile from the park," notes a Wine Country RV Park visitor.

What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Summer temperatures frequently exceed 90°F, while winters can drop below freezing. "Winter travelers should confirm water hookup availability, as some parks winterize certain systems during colder months," advises a local camper.

Weight restrictions for pets: Some parks limit the size of dogs allowed. At Wine Country RV Park, one camper warns about "40 POUND LIMIT. We travel with our fur kids (over 40 pounds). Shallow minded management."

Reservation requirements: Umatilla Marina & RV Park across the Oregon border, approximately 40 miles from Prosser, requires advance booking during peak season. "Picked campground for an overnight stay. Right on the River! Little bit of freeway noise, but otherwise very quiet and peaceful. Level gravel sites with grassy area between sites," notes Roger M.

Tips for camping with families

Pool access: Several parks offer swimming pools for kids during hot summer months. Columbia Sun RV Resort features a heated pool with adjacent recreational facilities. "Has all the amenities and activities you want in a semi-urban RC resort," according to Jeff M.

Playground availability: Horn Rapids RV Resort includes play areas for children. "We were passing through and Horn Rapids was perfect for our use. It has a nice little mini mart, drive through spots, full hookups, playground for the kids, clean bathrooms/showers, and allows pets," shares Mel S.

Outdoor movies: Some facilities host summer entertainment. "Fun experience: the field next to the campground set up a outdoor movie night with free popcorn. The kids loved it and it was a great memory maker," describes Agnes B. about Umatilla Marina RV Park.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: Choose premium sites with concrete pads for easier leveling. At Wine Country RV Park, "Premium sites have concrete pads while the lower cost sites are just gravel. The pads are mostly level, but slope upwards in some spots so unhitching can be just a little tricky," explains one RVer.

Bridge noise considerations: Parks near the Columbia River bridges may experience traffic noise. "It is noisy with the bridge and Hwy right there beside the park," notes cindy about Umatilla Marina & RV Park, while adding that "Bathrooms and showers were excellent."

Pull-through availability: Many parks offer pull-through sites for larger rigs with towed vehicles. "Driftwood RV Park is small and very green Campground with just what you need as you're passing through. The caretakers of the property are available for questions and take great care of the place. Tables at each spot make it easy to cook and bathrooms are clean," says Alicia F.
