    Ike Kinswa State Park Campground

    Camping amongst the tall trees

This campground is on Mayfield Lake where the Cowlitz River flows into the lake. We were in loop D, which was the only open loop along with the cabins (cabins are loop C and attached to loop D). This is a partial hook-up loop. Full hook-ups are in loop A. The campground is heavily wooded which is really nice for shade, though it can make it tricky to get into a spot if you have slide outs. As we were on the outer part of the loop in a pull-through site, we had a view of the woods and quite a bit of space between neighboring sites. We could not see either of the neighboring sites while sitting by our campfire. There was a trail to the trash compactor next to our site, but it did not seem to be heavily used. The trash compactor is probably a good 1/4 mile down this trail by the dump station. It was very quiet at night, which was fantastic! Very good Verizon cell service. The day use area is out of the campground and across the main road. There is a playground and beach area. It would have been nice if there was a playground on the campground side of the park.

    Toutle River RV Resort

    I5 access

We stayed 3 nights at Toutle River RV Resort now owned by RV Inn Style chain. Quiet and respectful campers with paroling friendly staff. I5 access is perfect, although road and train noise could be bothersome for some campers as the campground is nestled in between. The camp store and pool were open. The playground, disk golf and basketball hoops accessible but the pickle ball courts had been removed since we last visited. Sites range from open to treed with many of the pick nick tables needing refurbished. Full hookups with gravel pads for 70+$$ per night. WiFi isn’t free, must be purchased. We had spotty cell service with Verizon though we were directly off I5 corridor. The public restrooms were clean, but mostly under construction while we were camping. Many full timers w/park models and trailer/RV’s sprinkled throughout the park. All-in-all we will stay here again in the future and happy to do so.

    Copalis Beach RV Resort

    RV resort and campground

This an ideal beach access resort. There is a very nice pedestrian walkway bridge over a small stream and then a short walk through the dunes to a beautiful ocean beach. During certain times of the year vehicles are allowed to drive on the beach through various access points within a couple of miles of the resort.

We visited this resort during the off-season in November and during the middle of the week. There were only 8 other campers in the park with a few long termers. You can purchase a membership but it is not necessary to stay here. Visitors are welcome but it can be very busy during the summer time and holidays. I would call for availability.

This is an older park and facilities show their age but the bathrooms and showers were very clean. There is a dedicated tent only area and a few cabin rentals. RV sites are side by side and back to back. There is no shade. RV sites are full hookup with water, power, sewer and cable. There is also a dump site on location. Wi-fi is available for a fee, otherwise not accessible. We forgot to sign-in to our Winegard Gateway before arriving so we had data but no Wi-fi. Gravel sites with a little grass and fairly level.

Pet friendly but dogs must be leashed. Our dog had a great time running on the beach and walking the trails in the dunes.

Propane and ice available on site.

There is a community fire pit and portable propane fire pits are allowed at the sites.

Not all sites have picnic tables.

The town of Ocean Shores is about a 20 minute drive.

On site resort manager, Timothy and his wife, were very friendly and always willing to help.

    Pacific Dunes Resort

    Close together spaces

Smaller rv gravel sites. Difficult for guests to back in due to sharp cornersand tight smaller spaces. Space just for 26' travel trailer no room for tow vehicle. Used extra parking by dumpster. All utilities included. Nice wooden privacy fence behind all the rv sites. Picnic table and firepit with movable grill on it. Propane grill next to sand play area. Wifi was good. NO Cell reception for T-Mobile or Verizon.

Andersen's Oceanside RV Park & Cottages

    Please read

This is long but I wish someone wrote it so I knew what I was atleast spending our money on. I’ll first write about the website and how it lies and then my experience, with pictures. For context, we have a 43-foot fifth wheel that stands at a standard height of 13’6”, totaling approximately 60 feet in length with our truck. Discrepancies in Site Descriptions: Forested Sites: 1. The website advertised three large grassy areas. In reality, one was occupied by the campsite manager. Though there are two sites remaining, the one closest to the store backs up into low-hanging branches that could easily damage our solar panels and things on top and was not in an area or wide enough for us to back in our 43’ fifth wheel. 2. Amazing for Slides: The two available sites might work for slides, but the most narrow spot would have posed a significant risk. Which is the one we were supposed to have. If you don’t have slide toppers, your slides would be filled with leaves and branches. 3. Size Claims: The website states sites are 100'x50'. The owner specifically state that they are 70'x20' and none of the sites are100’x50’. 4. Surface Quality: The site closest to the store was somewhat gravel, but weeds were growing over it. Further back, it became more uneven, with slopes and hills leading into grass rather than a proper gravel pad. 5. Connectivity: The advertised satellite, TV, and Wi-Fi were virtually non-existent. Wi-Fi in the other areas was terrible, leading to frustrating experiences trying to connect. 6. Fire Pit: We booked a spot with a fire pit, which we were told would be moved to our site from the forested area. However, we never received it. Thankfully, we brought our own. Prime Sites: 1. Surrounding Environment: Claims of being quietly surrounded by grassy dunes and playful pines are misleading. While there are sand dunes, the pines are very far from the sites; you are primarily in a campground without immediate tree access. 2. Proximity to Beach: this was accurate it was a nice walk 3. Size: Again, the owner mentioned that all sites are 70'x20,' contradicting the 100'x20' claim online. Our fifth wheel did not fit adequately, forcing us to deal with dirt and litter behind us. 4. Patio Description: The site described a sand entry on their site and a beauty-barked entry when you go to book. It is in fact sand which is why I purposely booked the forested site 5. Wi-Fi Quality: Rather than excellent Wi-Fi, we experienced frequent disconnections, and often it only worked late at night when the campground was quiet. Overall Experience: Upon arrival, I was met with the owner stating that we didn’t need to get out of the truck, which seemed convenient at first. However, once led to the incorrect site, I expressed our booking for a forest site, only to be told they preferred to place us elsewhere because of our size(which we did specify during booking) The roads were a bit narrow for turning around a big rig despite them saying big rig friendly, and backing into a suitable site required a three-point turn, making it an complicated process. When I approached the office regarding a refund for the site difference, the owner reeked of pot(I usually don’t care but I would rather do business with someone sober than argue with someone stoned). the owner was immediately confrontational and dismissive. Despite my attempts to explain the situation, he insisted that all sites were the same and refused to acknowledge the misleading size and price differences. His behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable. When I asked him about price and size difference he kept saying it was all the same and the only difference was the forested site got a fireplace for free and it would follow me however we never did get it. How wife at one time during the argument came out and said she would give us a refund for the difference and he told her to shut the hell up. He then told us to either take what we were given(at the lesser price) or take a full refund and leave. I later discovered that the owner has a history of confrontations, as noted in various reviews, which further dampened our experience. In conclusion, the forest and prime sites are not worth the price of$125 per night. I also never received the promised fireplace, which was an additional disappointment. Having booked in March for an August stay and specifically choosing the forested site, I expected a much better experience. Overall the difference in price between what I booked and what I got was$135 for the 4 nights.

    Hoquiam River RV Park

    Close to beaches

This campground is about 45 minutes south of Quinault Lake in Olympic NP. So it adds a lot of extra time and miles to explore ONP. It is about 20 minutes to the beaches, which was great. You can drive your car right up onto the beach, which was awesome. The showers and laundry were very clean. Site were full hookups, but very close together. Sites are very close together with no privacy. There are many long-term RV's here. The area fronting the river is very well landscaped and offers fire rings, benches, grills, and a nature path to walk your dog.

    Lake Sylvia State Park Campground

    Hidden Gem

Set in a former logging camp above the town of Montesano, park life revolves around a large swimming and fishing lake. This site is super family friendly and pet friendly too.

There is a playground on site and TONS of old logging roses turned bike trails.

There are plenty of tent and RV sites and s few primitive sites for campers. There are showers a flushing toilets.

    Riverbend Campground

    Nice campground with friendly staff

Interesting the other review was for a first time out with their travel trailer!  Same for us!

We got site 106 which was the furthest one out, it was right along the river.  The site has a concrete slab and fit our Jayco 174BH perfectly.

This site does is a back in, but the slab is at a 90 degree angle from the drive.  So you will have to back your trailer around a corner if you plan to park it on the slab.  Didn't see other sites like this.

The campground did have a very small selection of items to buy, but mainly snacks.  They do fill propane tanks, but only during week days.

The site had water and electrical, but no sewer connections.  they do have a nice dump station.

The camp ground itself did have at least 2 pet areas neither are fenced so a leash is required, along with a playground for the kids.

We have Verizon and had no issues with cell signal at this campground.

Also, this is a private campground, so they have a guy that stands at the gate to open it when guests come arrive.

    Kemp Olson Memorial Park

    Good for a quick overnight

Quaint and quiet town. Small quiet park with electric and water and a dump station. Site two is a pull through that is not set up right to have your awning on the correct side (see photo). Other pull through was too small for our 33’ tt. Sites adequately spaced for some privacy. Nice playground for kids and horseshoe courts. Dog friendly. Nice drive over white pass from Yakima.

Guide to Oakville

Woodland camping options near Oakville, Washington provide access to the diverse ecosystems of southwest Washington at elevations ranging from 150 to 500 feet. Located approximately 30 miles from the Pacific Ocean, the area experiences mild maritime climate with summer temperatures typically reaching 70-80°F and winter lows averaging 35-45°F. Rain falls primarily between October and May, creating lush forest environments and well-maintained campsites.

What to do

Hiking trails: Thousand Trails Chehalis offers access to trails through wooded areas and along waterways. "The campground is at an elevation of 150 ft... the pavement turns to hard-packed gravel as we looped around once to find our campsite," noted one visitor about exploring the surrounding areas.

Blackberry picking: Seasonal berry harvesting provides a natural treat at many campgrounds. "Our site has electricity and water hook up. The site was level and has plenty of ripe blackberries for picking," shared a Thousand Trails Chehalis visitor who enjoyed this summer activity.

Disc golf: Toutle River RV Resort features a complete course for outdoor recreation. "There's a frisbee golf course that we didn't use but looks fun," mentioned a reviewer who appreciated the outdoor activity options available at the resort.

River access: Hoquiam River RV Park provides scenic water views and activities. "The area fronting the river is very well landscaped and offers fire rings, benches, grills, and a nature path to walk your dog," according to a camper who enjoyed the waterfront amenities.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Consistent maintenance makes for comfortable stays at several campgrounds. "The showers and laundry were very clean. Site were full hookups, but very close together," reported a visitor to Hoquiam River RV Park.

Family recreation centers: Toutle River RV Resort provides multiple entertainment options. "There's a swimming pool, basketball court, huge playground, volleyball, disc golf course, picnic table areas and woods to run in," shared a camper who appreciated the variety of activities available.

Quiet environments: Reiki Ranch offers tranquil settings away from busy locations. "The area is well watered and green even in hot heat. But there's not too many good areas for a hammock," noted a visitor who enjoyed the peaceful surroundings.

Casino proximity: Little Creek Casino Resort RV Park combines camping with entertainment options. "Full hookups for the rver. Sites to 70 ft. No firepits is a downside but the upside is the best seafood bar in the area," mentioned a reviewer who appreciated the convenience of on-site dining.

What you should know

Variable power service: Electrical connections can fluctuate at certain facilities. "The worst part for us, however, was that the power was really variable. Sometimes it would spike to 130 volts and then drop suddenly to 110," cautioned a visitor to Thousand Trails Chehalis.

Site conditions vary: Midway RV Park maintains differing site types and quality. "We stayed here for a sporting event and did not know what to expect. It was very clean, well kept, and quiet after dark. No fire pits and store closes early," noted a visitor about their experience.

Seasonal considerations: Campground conditions change throughout the year. "Weather was sunny upper 70's, the nights low 60's. This is a very quiet campground," shared a Thousand Trails Chehalis visitor describing summer conditions.

Reservation requirements: Many facilities require advance booking. "Make sure you get a site that is large enough for both the RV and your vehicle as there is no extra parking. We picked a 50 ft site which allowed us to park the RV and still have room for our towed car," advised a Little Creek visitor.

Tips for camping with families

Playground options: Sun Outdoors Gig Harbor offers limited child-focused facilities. "Pet friendly, but not many attractions for children (no playground, no pool)," noted a visitor regarding activity planning.

Summer activities: Organized events enhance the camping experience for children. "Kids are helping review campgrounds we visited this summer. They loved that there was scavenger hunts for pigs in morning, tractor rides in afternoon, face painting, slushees, movie in lodge, crafts," shared an enthusiastic family about Thousand Trails Chehalis.

Tent camping areas: Options exist for non-RV camping families. "This is definitely a RV resort, but there are 5 or 6 tent camping sites under some big trees which provide shade almost all day," mentioned a Sun Outdoors Gig Harbor visitor about alternative accommodations.

Nature trails: Walking paths provide outdoor education opportunities. "The little walking trails along the river were gorgeous. Again, for a tiny town, this site was a treat," noted a visitor to Hoquiam River RV Park.

Tips from RVers

Hookup extension needs: Washington Land Yacht Harbor requires specific equipment preparation. "All connections are in the back so imagine hooking up at a parking lot at the concrete stoppers. Sewer and electric, make sure you got enough tubes and extensions," warned a visitor about setup requirements.

Satellite reception: Tree coverage affects connectivity at various rv camping near Oakville, Washington. "The spaces are very close together, but there are a lot of trees and it's very well kept," noted a Sun Outdoors Gig Harbor visitor.

Food options: Several sites provide convenient dining. "Judy's Country Kitchen located at the entrance has great food. The breakfasts were amazing," shared a Midway RV Park visitor about nearby meal options.

Laundry facilities: Amenities vary between campgrounds. "WiFi isn't free, must be purchased. We had spotty cell service with Verizon though we were directly off I5 corridor. The public restrooms were clean, but mostly under construction while we were camping," reported a recent visitor to Toutle River RV Resort.
