I pulled up and it looked abandoned and unsafe—something from a horror movie. The bathroom literally had trash dumped out in front and the some of the campsites were unkept. It's trek to get back there for such disappointment. Left as soon as I could, ended up sleeping at a rest area.

They have several back-in spots, some with partial hookups and some with full hookups. Most of the spots are well-shaded from the trees. A specific area is designated for tents only, and some cabins can also be rented. It was a 5-minute walk downhill to reach the lake, which had a very long and nice boat ramp deep enough to accommodate just about any boat. Regarding cell service, I got 3 bars of LTE with my iPhone. Overall, it was a nice, quiet, shady place to visit, and I will definitely be back.
The layout of this campground packs sites too close together. It feels more like tailgating in a parking lot than camping. Other than that, this park is pretty great. It's a very short walk to the beach and a stone's throw from Westport. It's even got some decent trails for hiking around a bit. The bathrooms are pretty standard fare for state Park bathrooms, however, the free showers were a great plus.
Right up next to the shores! Nice little private tent spots. Free cold shower. Friendly camp hosts and staff.
It’s a great, fairly secluded spot, large sites, beautiful to be in. Don’t forget to reserve your site in advance and get your Discover Pass!
I came for my birthday and had a great time. Staff was so friendly and helpful, and the place was clean. They have a little store in case you forget something and firewood that’s way cheaper than buying elsewhere. People were fishing, paddle boarding and swimming. I would absolutely go stay there again!
James and Jordyn were so helpful and accommodating to any need that arose. The nearness of the trail to the beautiful beach was a huge plus. Super relaxing ...hope to return soon!
We arrived at 10pm with 2 exhausted kids and someone had sniped our site! We went to the Campground Host and not only did they get us into an emergency spot (which was actually better) they gave my kiddos each a little toy. They even checked on us each day to make sure everything was going well in the new site.
Capmground is a fantastic resort that truly exceeded my expectations. The serene environment provides a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure every guest feels welcomed and well taken care of. The amenities are top-notch, with clean and comfortable accommodations, a beautiful pool, and plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained. The on-site restaurant serves delicious meals that cater to various tastes. It's an ideal destination for both relaxation and adventure. I highly recommend Capmground for a memorable vacation experience.
I recently stayed at Kid Valley Campground and had a fantastic time. It’s the perfect spot for anyone who loves nature and adventure. The campground is ideally located for exploring the Mt. St. Helens area, with great hiking and biking trails nearby.
As an avid fisherman, I was thrilled with the easy access to the Toutle River and nearby lakes. The salmon and steelhead fishing were excellent, and I also enjoyed a short drive to Coldwater Lake for some great fly-fishing and Silver Lake for bass and trout. Winter activities are also a big draw here. There’s hunting, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling in the nearby Toutle State Forest.
One of the highlights for me was how family-friendly the campground is. It’s a perfect spot for kids to explore and play games like Toca Boca around the campsite. They offer special rates during hunting season, which is a nice bonus for hunters. Overall, Kid Valley Campground is a wonderful blend of relaxation and outdoor adventure. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy the natural beauty near Mt. St. Helens.
Primitive campsites. Free campsites. Quiet.
I gave this park a high rating primarily because of its location. It is a great place to launch your Mount Saint Helens exploration, with a Washington State Visitor Center you can walk to from the campground. We had hookups but our site was very close to the site next to us and we had no privacy there. If you don’t need hookups, I would recommend the loop that has 32 - 54. These were much more private and actually had better Wi-Fi than our location. Bathrooms are convenient and have free showers. There was better hot water at the bathroom on the loop with sites 32 - 54.
Fairly large and level site with an amazing view. No water. First come first served and this one goes quickly!
There was a handful of large pull out spots along this road. Nothing fancy and not secluded but got the job done
Seaquest has something for everyone. My campsite was not close to the road , but I stayed when Johnston Ridge was closed, so maybe road noise would be a factor at other times.
Some pluses here include: some private sites, lots of trees, bathroom / showers, playground, open areas, close to other points of interest. And for those who can’t live without it: WiFi.
Although bathrooms were clean, I believe they could use an upgrade. Showers in particular.
We were able to snag a space (last minute). The store and grill were well stocked, great food and service. Easy access to lake. There are cabins available as well as camping. Quiet at night too.
Nicely maintained property, with spacious sites, great restroom facility, acres to gorgeous meadow and evening star viewing. Tom was gracious and welcoming host. Enjoyed our stay!
So beautiful, so well maintained. The meadow over the bridge is a hidden delight. Constant attention to the grounds regularly. Exquisite!
Had an amazing time as always. Bring your kayak, paddle board or boat. The water is awesome. Fishing is good for trout out on the water. All camp sites are clean and ready when you arrive.showers are clean if needed
Campground was simple, full hookup at the top of a hill above a small river. Our campsite had a little trail that went down to the river however was steep as hell and was a bit jarring for the kids.
Only issue we had was the trees made starlink almost useless. Even in the open field at the center we had issues and there is no cell service at all.
So if you're just camping it's excellent and cheap option,
but if you need to work it's a bit rough.
Kid Valley Campground is a fantastic destination for families looking for a serene and adventurous getaway. Set in a quiet forest and an old homestead, it offers a convenient base for sightseeing, hiking, and biking in the Mt. St. Helens area.
The proximity to fishing opportunities at nearby lakes and the famous Toutle River adds to its appeal. I recently sent my 6-year-old child to Kid Valley Campground, and it was an incredible experience for him. It was his first time going away, and I gave him my iPhone to stay connected.
He enjoyed playing Toca Boca World Mod, which kept him entertained during downtime. The weather was perfect, and he had a blast camping with his friends at night. The campground's location, adjacent to the Toutle River and a few miles from the Green River, provided excellent opportunities for salmon and steelhead fishing.
The nearby Coldwater Lake and Silver Lake offered great fly-fishing and bass and trout fishing, respectively. In winter, the campground's proximity to the Toutle State Forest, with its 35,000 acres open to snowmobiling, makes it an excellent spot for hunting,
cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. Year-round elk viewing on the road to Mount St. Helens is a treat, and the nearby Winston, Toutle, Coweeman, and Margaret units offer fantastic hunting opportunities. Overall, Kid Valley Campground is a wonderful place for family camping trips.
The combination of beautiful scenery, outdoor activities, and great weather made for an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to explore the Mt. St. Helens area.
Nice campground by to the river and close to Olympic
Clean bathrooms and showers Heated pool is nice Wonderful trail to the beach Friendly staff
Recently we spent the 4th of July weekend at Jarrell Cove and we had a great time. The campground is very family friendly (we have a toddler) and quiet. They had more amenities than I would expect: they had free wifi, loaner life jackets, little library, and kids packets from the park (coloring pencils, bookmark, coloring page). Bathrooms are clean with a shower. A short drive to Harstine Island state park is great for collecting sand dollars and clams, you see a ton of little crabs and we went kayaking. I read previous reviews and they do have deer that roam and when we pulled up there was one at our site to greet us.
My grandson loves coming here with us the two ponds they stock with fish. The second time here the only drawback is some of the vegetation is overgrown and could use some trimming
Shower is out of service. No email or warning about that
