Best RV Parks & Resorts near Malone, WA

Several RV parks surround the Malone, Washington area, offering diverse options for motorhome travelers. Little Creek Casino Resort RV Park in nearby Shelton provides year-round full hookup sites with 50-amp service and is designated as big-rig friendly. The park includes amenities such as a sanitary dump station, showers, and a market. Hoquiam River RV Park, located about 45 minutes west, features full hookup sites with both 30 and 50-amp electrical service, gravel pads, and picnic tables at each site. One RV camper noted, "Sites are very close together with no privacy, but the area fronting the river is very well landscaped and offers fire rings, benches, and grills." Olympic Gateway Cottage and RV Site offers a more intimate setting with just one RV site that includes water hookups, 30-amp electrical service, and is accessible for larger rigs.

Advance reservations are strongly recommended for RV camping in this region, particularly during summer months when coastal access is in high demand. Cell service varies significantly throughout the area, with Verizon generally providing the most reliable coverage. Most RV parks in the region are pet-friendly, though leash requirements are strictly enforced. Propane fill services can be found at select locations like Sun Outdoors Gig Harbor, approximately 40 miles northeast of Malone. RV campers should note that while many parks offer year-round access, some facilities may have limited services during winter months. Sanitary dump stations are available at most established RV parks, though Bayshore RV Park is among the few that offer sewer hookups without an on-site dump station. For RVs requiring 50-amp service, confirming availability before arrival is essential as some smaller parks only provide 30-amp connections.

    Ike Kinswa State Park Campground

    Camping amongst the tall trees

This campground is on Mayfield Lake where the Cowlitz River flows into the lake. We were in loop D, which was the only open loop along with the cabins (cabins are loop C and attached to loop D). This is a partial hook-up loop. Full hook-ups are in loop A. The campground is heavily wooded which is really nice for shade, though it can make it tricky to get into a spot if you have slide outs. As we were on the outer part of the loop in a pull-through site, we had a view of the woods and quite a bit of space between neighboring sites. We could not see either of the neighboring sites while sitting by our campfire. There was a trail to the trash compactor next to our site, but it did not seem to be heavily used. The trash compactor is probably a good 1/4 mile down this trail by the dump station. It was very quiet at night, which was fantastic! Very good Verizon cell service. The day use area is out of the campground and across the main road. There is a playground and beach area. It would have been nice if there was a playground on the campground side of the park.

    Toutle River RV Resort

    I5 access

We stayed 3 nights at Toutle River RV Resort now owned by RV Inn Style chain. Quiet and respectful campers with paroling friendly staff. I5 access is perfect, although road and train noise could be bothersome for some campers as the campground is nestled in between. The camp store and pool were open. The playground, disk golf and basketball hoops accessible but the pickle ball courts had been removed since we last visited. Sites range from open to treed with many of the pick nick tables needing refurbished. Full hookups with gravel pads for 70+$$ per night. WiFi isn’t free, must be purchased. We had spotty cell service with Verizon though we were directly off I5 corridor. The public restrooms were clean, but mostly under construction while we were camping. Many full timers w/park models and trailer/RV’s sprinkled throughout the park. All-in-all we will stay here again in the future and happy to do so.

    Copalis Beach RV Resort

    RV resort and campground

This an ideal beach access resort. There is a very nice pedestrian walkway bridge over a small stream and then a short walk through the dunes to a beautiful ocean beach. During certain times of the year vehicles are allowed to drive on the beach through various access points within a couple of miles of the resort.

We visited this resort during the off-season in November and during the middle of the week. There were only 8 other campers in the park with a few long termers. You can purchase a membership but it is not necessary to stay here. Visitors are welcome but it can be very busy during the summer time and holidays. I would call for availability.

This is an older park and facilities show their age but the bathrooms and showers were very clean. There is a dedicated tent only area and a few cabin rentals. RV sites are side by side and back to back. There is no shade. RV sites are full hookup with water, power, sewer and cable. There is also a dump site on location. Wi-fi is available for a fee, otherwise not accessible. We forgot to sign-in to our Winegard Gateway before arriving so we had data but no Wi-fi. Gravel sites with a little grass and fairly level.

Pet friendly but dogs must be leashed. Our dog had a great time running on the beach and walking the trails in the dunes.

Propane and ice available on site.

There is a community fire pit and portable propane fire pits are allowed at the sites.

Not all sites have picnic tables.

The town of Ocean Shores is about a 20 minute drive.

On site resort manager, Timothy and his wife, were very friendly and always willing to help.

    Pacific Dunes Resort

    Close together spaces

Smaller rv gravel sites. Difficult for guests to back in due to sharp cornersand tight smaller spaces. Space just for 26' travel trailer no room for tow vehicle. Used extra parking by dumpster. All utilities included. Nice wooden privacy fence behind all the rv sites. Picnic table and firepit with movable grill on it. Propane grill next to sand play area. Wifi was good. NO Cell reception for T-Mobile or Verizon.

    Hoquiam River RV Park

    Close to beaches

This campground is about 45 minutes south of Quinault Lake in Olympic NP. So it adds a lot of extra time and miles to explore ONP. It is about 20 minutes to the beaches, which was great. You can drive your car right up onto the beach, which was awesome. The showers and laundry were very clean. Site were full hookups, but very close together. Sites are very close together with no privacy. There are many long-term RV's here. The area fronting the river is very well landscaped and offers fire rings, benches, grills, and a nature path to walk your dog.

    Lake Sylvia State Park Campground

    Hidden Gem

Set in a former logging camp above the town of Montesano, park life revolves around a large swimming and fishing lake. This site is super family friendly and pet friendly too.

There is a playground on site and TONS of old logging roses turned bike trails.

There are plenty of tent and RV sites and s few primitive sites for campers. There are showers a flushing toilets.

    Riverbend Campground

    Nice campground with friendly staff

Interesting the other review was for a first time out with their travel trailer!  Same for us!

We got site 106 which was the furthest one out, it was right along the river.  The site has a concrete slab and fit our Jayco 174BH perfectly.

This site does is a back in, but the slab is at a 90 degree angle from the drive.  So you will have to back your trailer around a corner if you plan to park it on the slab.  Didn't see other sites like this.

The campground did have a very small selection of items to buy, but mainly snacks.  They do fill propane tanks, but only during week days.

The site had water and electrical, but no sewer connections.  they do have a nice dump station.

The camp ground itself did have at least 2 pet areas neither are fenced so a leash is required, along with a playground for the kids.

We have Verizon and had no issues with cell signal at this campground.

Also, this is a private campground, so they have a guy that stands at the gate to open it when guests come arrive.

    Kemp Olson Memorial Park

    Good for a quick overnight

Quaint and quiet town. Small quiet park with electric and water and a dump station. Site two is a pull through that is not set up right to have your awning on the correct side (see photo). Other pull through was too small for our 33’ tt. Sites adequately spaced for some privacy. Nice playground for kids and horseshoe courts. Dog friendly. Nice drive over white pass from Yakima.

    Kemp Olson Memorial Park

Nice, small and largely undiscovered CG

We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow, were meeting friends in the area and visiting Mt. Rainier. The CG has seen some recent improvements, including graveling of the 12 campsite pads. Some of the sites have picnic tables, none of them have fire pits, and only one, site 12, has a grill. We were in site 2 for 4 days in early September. Ours was one of 2 pull-throughs, but ours was on the inside of the loop, which put the utilities on the correct side, but the awing side was close to the road and a large tree, so we had to setup chairs and such on the utility side. Most of the sites are pretty well spaced. There were only a handful of campers here when we arrived on the Friday before the Labor Day weekend and come Saturday, there were only two left besides us. Unfortunately, one of the two remaining was a long-timer, maybe the grounds keeper(?), who often let his little dog run loose in the CG, and though friendly enough, it barked at those who passed near it. The park has a playground and a coin operated water fountain for the kids. There is an elementary school next door, so it can get a little raucous when the kids are outside. There were quite a few low hanging branches throughout the CG, but most were fairly small. I did mention this to the Toledo City Hall, who said they would put it on the list. Although there is a faded“Free WiFi Zone” as you enter the park, we were not able to detect one. AT&T coverage good, ranging from 3-4 Bars of LTE with speeds up to 15 MB/s. We were able to get DISH coverage on some of

Guide to Malone

RV campgrounds near Malone, Washington offer a mix of coastal and inland experiences within a 45-mile radius. The region sits at the southern edge of the Olympic Peninsula where elevations range from sea level to approximately 200 feet. Winter camping remains available at most locations, though seasonal rainfall averages 70-80 inches annually in this temperate coastal climate.

What to do

River recreation: At Hoquiam River RV Park, trails along the water provide natural exploration opportunities. One camper noted, "The little walking trails along the river were gorgeous. Again, for a tiny town, this site was a treat." The river area includes maintained nature paths suitable for dog walking.

Blackberry picking: Summer visitors can collect wild blackberries at several campgrounds in the region. A visitor to Thousand Trails Chehalis mentioned their site "has plenty of ripe blackberries for picking." The berry season typically peaks in August.

Beach access: Coastal campgrounds provide beach exploration within short distances. A camper at Hoquiam River RV Park shared, "It is about 20 minutes to the beaches, which was great. You can drive your car right up onto the beach, which was awesome." Beach driving requires a vehicle with adequate clearance.

What campers like

Casino amenities: Little Creek Casino Resort RV Park provides convenient access to dining and entertainment. A reviewer stated, "Full hookups for the rver. Sites to 70 ft. No firepits is a downside but the upside is the best seafood bar in the area." The resort offers multiple dining options onsite.

Waterfront camping: Waterfront sites rank highly among camper preferences. At Bayshore RV Park & Guest Suites, "The sites along the shore have an amazing view. The center sites, 17 &18 which is where we were at were not bad, no view but still ok and only 100 yards from the beach." Waterfront sites typically cost $10-15 more per night.

Family activities: Organized events enhance the camping experience at select locations. Thousand Trails Chehalis offers "scavenger hunts for pigs in morning, tractor rides in afternoon, face painting, slushees, movie in lodge, crafts, slushees, a great store, basketball court, pools." Most activities run Memorial Day through Labor Day.

What you should know

Site spacing varies: Proximity to neighboring campers differs significantly between parks. At Hoquiam River RV Park, "Sites are very close together with no privacy. There are many long-term RVs here." Site dimensions and separation should be confirmed when booking.

Extended stay policies: Length-of-stay rules vary between campgrounds. At Washington Land Yacht Harbor, campers should note, "after 29 days, we would have to leave for 3 days before we could come back." Always confirm long-term stay options when booking.

Electrical service quality: Power reliability can be inconsistent at some locations. A camper at Thousand Trails Chehalis warned, "the power was really variable. Sometimes it would spike to 130 volts and then drop suddenly to 110." RVers with sensitive electronics should consider using a surge protector.

Tips for camping with families

Recreation options: Look for campgrounds with dedicated family facilities. At Sun Outdoors Gig Harbor, "New laundry room almost complete, small dog run, exterior dog bath, clean restrooms, very accommodating staff, 1st Friday movie night." However, another camper noted it's "Pet friendly, but not many attractions for children (no playground, no pool)."

Shower facilities: Clean bathrooms rank highly for family campers. At Hoquiam River RV Park, "Bathrooms are clean. Laundry facility works really well." Family groups should confirm shower availability, as not all parks provide them.

Budget options: Affordable camping exists for those willing to sacrifice amenities. At Little Creek Casino Resort RV Park, "The dry lot is nicer than spending the night in a Walmart Parking Lot, but load and very bright. Maintenance vehicles go by at all hours of the night. I was charged $15 to spend the night in this lot."

Tips from RVers

Hookup positioning: Be prepared for varying utility connection layouts. At Washington Land Yacht Harbor, "All connections are in the back so imagine hooking up at a parking lot at the concrete stoppers. Sewer and electric, make sure you got enough tubes and extensions." Carrying extension cords and hoses is recommended.

Site selection strategy: Research specific site details before booking. A camper at Sun Outdoors Gig Harbor advised, "Make sure you get a site that is large enough for both the RV and your vehicle as there is no extra parking. We picked a 50 ft site which allowed us to park the RV and still have room for our towed car."

Weather preparation: RV campgrounds Malone, Washington and surrounding areas experience significant seasonal changes. At Thousand Trails Chehalis, campers find "Some sites are beautiful with woods separating the sites and level spaces. Others are in the open with very slanted spaces." Selecting sites with shade becomes important during summer months when temperatures can exceed 80°F.
