Dewey Bridge Group Sites

BLM Land — Moab Field Office encompasses Dewey Bridge Group Sites, a riverside campground that accommodates RVs up to 50 feet alongside tent camping. The sites sit directly on the Colorado River, where Stephanie C. notes "4x4 required, no hookups!" Access involves navigating rough roads that can challenge standard vehicles.

The campground spreads across open terrain with both designated sites and dispersed camping options. Individual sites feature picnic tables and fire rings, while vault toilets serve the area. Cottonwood trees provide some shade along the riverbank, though much of the camping area remains exposed. The boat launch attracts paddlers and anglers accessing the Colorado River. Summer temperatures can be intense, prompting one reviewer to recommend bringing "lots of water and tarps for hot sunny days."

Weekdays typically see fewer visitors, but weekend crowds arrive quickly to claim the limited sites. The $100 group site fee reflects the specialized nature of this accommodation, though individual sites cost significantly less. Road noise from Highway 128 occasionally breaks the otherwise quiet setting dominated by cricket sounds and river flow.

For smaller groups preferring individual sites, Hittle Bottom offers similar river access with different terrain features just south of this location.

Literally on the Colorado River. Bring lots of water and tarps for hot sunny days. You can dip in the Colorado River. Just be safe.

Great campsite

$20/night or $10 with Senior Access Pass. Either sites along the River or shady spots among the cottonwoods. Clean pit toilets. No other services. Good place to stop for the night along the way to Arches.

An oasis by the Dolores

Just past the recreation area on the left heading north, there is an additional campsite on the right past the old Dewey Bridge. The site contains several designated sites as well as dispersed camping by the Dolores. We had an amazing time camping here during the week, but it got quite a bit busier when the weekend hit. We enjoyed our experience. 4x4 required, no hookups!

Wonderful place

This is a great place to stay with access to the river. The only disappointing thing is that there are limited sites and they fill up quickly most weekends. And if you have a camper that is larger than 25 foot the dispersed camping areas are very limited. I really hope the BLM has plans to expand this campground by at least 5 sites in the near future as I think they would still be full often.

Frequently Asked Questions

What amenities are available at Dewey Bridge Campground?

Dewey Bridge Campground offers clean vault toilets but limited services beyond that. There are campsites situated along the river as well as shady spots among cottonwood trees. The campground includes a boat launch for river access. No water or other utilities are provided, so visitors should bring plenty of water, especially during hot days. The location offers direct access to the Colorado River where campers can cool off, though caution is advised.

Do I need reservations for Dewey Bridge Campground?

Reservations are not explicitly mentioned, but the campground has limited sites that fill up quickly on most weekends, suggesting a first-come, first-served system. The fee is $20 per night, or $10 with a Senior Access Pass. If visiting during peak times, arriving early is recommended to secure a spot. Weekdays tend to be less busy, while weekends see increased traffic. During off-peak seasons like July, you might find the campground much less crowded or even empty.
