    Nine Mile Canyon Ranch

    Rustic and scenic

This is a nice campground to stay in if you want to explore the canyons.  The location is perfect for day trips into the canyons to search for petroglyphs and historic cabins.  The scenery is amazing.  The campsite had a real nice covered picnic table and a fire pit. There were no hookups but they say they have potable water you can use.  They also have firewood you can purchase but we brought our own.  We did not use the showers but they do have them available.  The bathrooms have flush toilets and running water and were very clean.  There are historic cabins you can rent or you can camp in your tent or RV.  We were there in April and it wasn't too busy so it was pretty quiet.  I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone who wants to explore the area.

The 9 mile Canyon Ranch has a little bit of everything. RV spots, tent camping, cabins. There are clean bathrooms and showers for $3. You can hammock in some spots. Best to call in ahead so they get you a best part with some of the trees.

Beautiful area. No service but there is Wi-Fi at the house. The lady there was SUPER nice and answered all my questions and was very willing to help and make sure I had a good stay.

I slept in my Bronco but my spot had a campfire and picnic table. Enjoyed my stay.

    Nine Mile Canyon Ranch

    Great Campground!

Nine Mile Ranch is a great campground outside of Wellington, UT and a good base camp to check out Nine Mile Canyon. They have historic cabins they have used for camping cabins, RV and tent sites. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. Super friendly and knowledgeable camp host. I would definitely stay again!

    Nine Mile Canyon Ranch

Quiet, low key base to explore

We stayed in a campground spot with grass, fire pit and a kind of splintery picnic table. We had the area to ourselves. We were next to a  stream on the other side of a fence. Deer came to visit. Cottonwood trees all around, had not yet leafed out, but I imagine nice shade in summer. 2 very clean single stall restrooms with flush toilets and lavs a short walk away. The campground could use a bit of TLC, yet we loved our stay, because so peaceful. They also have cabins and pull through camping with shelters. Very nice person checking us in.

    Castle Gate RV Park

    Tranquil!

Beautiful RV Park!! Friendly service! Escorted to our Site# 201 which backed up to the Price River. Site was super level for us. Great space between neighbors on our side of the park. There is a picnic table. However, we took our chairs down to the river bank each evening. So tranquil and relaxing! Laundry room is nice and all machines were in working order. We did not use the restrooms but took a peek in and they are all clean and look new. Beautiful mountain scenery as well. AT&T, T-Mobile Cell Service were excellent. No issues with their WiFI. So many cable channels! If there was one Con, it was that the dog park/run area was muddy. Looks like they are watering the area to maybe get more grass to grow. However, there are plenty of other grassy spots with Dog Waste Stations and bags to walk your dog. Street traffic noise can be heard. We do have a white noise machine and it did not interrupt our sleep. Enjoyed our relaxing stay here! Highly recommend!

    Orange Olsen

    Great cabins for the cost.

I really want to give a poor review so no one else will take my future reservations.  However, they really are in a great location and easily accessible.  The Dwelling is large enough to hold a really big family or two couples with small children.  The cabin is pretty small but large enough for a family of four.  Both have showers, toilet, with running water.  The lake is about a mile down the road. The nearest open boat dock is on the other side of the lake (~3 miles).  The ATV trails are endless and right out the driveway is access to Skyline Drive AKA God's Country.  Fishing is good at Joe's spring and fall. Summer time is better for swimming and wake boarding.  The smaller lakes and ponds are better suited for summertime fishing.  Luckily the are short drives.  Not much of a rock climber but I know the only reason my in-laws come is to go drag themselves up a rock while I wet a fly.  Overall a pretty laid back place to spend a few days relaxing.

    Castle Gate RV Park

    Very nice park

I travel in either a van or a fifth wheel and would be happy to bring with one to this lovely park! It has lovely amenities, nice spaces and quite the view. I think it’s new. The private restrooms are better than home! A nice big shower, toilet and sink, a chair, hooks and nicely lit. They have convenient lights over the door on the outside of the of the building. Red is occupied, green is available. The laundry facility is new, clean and comfy; it’s right off the office and mini store. Speaking of the office, the staff are kind and helpful. The grounds are spotless and a river runs next to the park. The only drawback could be the railroad tracks nearby, but I love trains and they went by slowly and infrequently.

    Shady Acres RV Park

    Good place to rest, quiet

Stayed here for 3 nights in 37' 5th wheel. RV park is quiet. It's a little old, but not run down and not trashy at all. Some grassy sites. Mostly Gravel, some sandy areas. Not muddy if wet. Good hookups. Pet friendly. I feel a little bad for giving three stars, but I should give it four because there's always availability it seems. I know many of you are a bunch of softies so I don't want to skew the reviews with my four-star. This is in the middle of the desert! Hot days and cool nights. 50 amp. Fresh Water. Sewer hookups. Have video here of drive through

Guide to Huntington

Camping cabins near Huntington, Utah are situated in central Utah's Castle Country at elevations between 5,000-9,000 feet, creating distinct seasonal camping conditions. Summer temperatures typically reach 85-90°F during the day while dropping to the 50s at night, with occasional afternoon thunderstorms common in July and August. Winter brings significant snowfall, limiting accessibility to some higher-elevation cabin sites.

What to do

Explore Nine Mile Canyon: Located near Nine Mile Canyon Ranch, this area offers exceptional archaeological sites. "We spent countless hours hiking around this area, seeing as many petroglyphs and pictographs as we could," notes one visitor. The ranch provides information about hidden granaries built by indigenous people.

Fish at Green River: Green River State Park Campground offers access to fishing opportunities along the Green River. "The river front park and pier are good for fishing and a safe place to let the dogs play," shares a camper. River access is convenient for multiple fishing spots.

Golf during your cabin stay: Several Huntington area campgrounds are located near golf courses. At Palisade State Park Campground, "There is a great golf course right next to the lake/campground. The restaurant at the golf club has really good food," according to a visitor.

What campers like

Clean, modern bathroom facilities: Castle Gate RV Park earns praise for its bathroom quality. "The private restrooms are better than home! A nice big shower, toilet and sink, a chair, hooks and nicely lit," mentions one camper. Another adds, "They have convenient lights over the door on the outside of the building. Red is occupied, green is available."

Riverside cabin locations: Multiple cabin options back up to water features. "We backed up to the river, and our lot was very spacious," notes a Castle Gate RV Park visitor. Another camper shared their routine: "We took our chairs down to the river bank each evening. So tranquil and relaxing!"

Trail access: Direct trail access from several cabin locations provides recreation without driving. A visitor to Orange Olsen mentioned, "The ATV trails are endless and right out the driveway is access to Skyline Drive AKA God's Country."

What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Weather impacts cabin camping year-round. A visitor to Palisade State Park Campground mentioned, "Family comes here every year around Mother's Day. This year we went May 17th and it was still cold. The water was very high."

Booking challenges: Popularity makes reservations increasingly difficult. "It is getting busier so it's harder to get a reservation," notes one Palisade State Park camper. Summer weekends fill months in advance at most cabin locations.

Noise factors: Some cabin locations experience noise from nearby transportation routes. At Castle Gate RV Park, "There is a set of train tracks nearby so that may matter if you're a light sleeper." Another camper noted, "Street traffic noise can be heard. We do have a white noise machine and it did not interrupt our sleep."

Tips for camping with families

Water activities for kids: Green River KOA offers family-friendly water options. "Pool, playground, showers, shop, full hookups, pull through sites, etc. Tent camping area was pretty small, but close to the bathrooms and pool for kiddos," shares a visitor. Several cabin locations offer boating activities for older children.

Multi-family accommodations: Some cabins accommodate larger groups. At Orange Olsen, "The Dwelling is large enough to hold a really big family or two couples with small children," states a camper who found the arrangement practical for extended family trips.

Recreation areas: Heritage Grove Campground provides dedicated family recreation spaces. "Had very clean restrooms and showers. Lots of amenities like a playground and volleyball net," notes a visitor. These common areas give children safe places to play within campground boundaries.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling requirements: Pay attention to leveling needs when booking. At Pleasant Creek Ranch Camperworld by Osiris RV Resorts, a camper noted, "The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because some of the sites aren't level and are pretty close to each other. I had to use 3 yellow square leveling blocks on the left side."

Electric hookup positioning: Check utility placement when making reservations. At Green River State Park Campground, a camper observed, "In the older loop with big trees the electrical boxes are on the passenger side. It worked out for us, but make sure your cord is long enough."

Water pressure variations: Some cabin sites have unusually high water pressure. At Castle Gate RV Park, a camper advised, "Their water pressure is outstanding in fact they recommend a pressure regulator on the supply line."
