Beautiful campground with great hosts

We stayed at Lonesomehurst for two nights at the start of July. The campground is in a beautiful location right on the lake, however be aware that this lake is predominately used by motorised boats which can be loud. The overall campground is very well maintained, the bathrooms are in excellent condition and the camp hosts are lovely. This is an RV forward campsite but there were a few tents when we were there.

We stayed in site 20 which I would not recommend as it is directly adjacent to the toilets. It is positioned in the inner loop and has direct eyeline to the toilets with no privacy. Luckily the toilets did not smell at all due to the good management. We were rooftop tent camping and made the most of the site by using the electric plugin to create ambiance. The sites across the way have a great view of the lake. Site 19 is stunning if you can book it, it’s got a great view and has good privacy. We were able to have breakfast there one morning as the occupants checked out early.

All in all, great campground if you can get a lake spot. Generators can be loud at times but the policy is that they have to be turned off by 10pm. Most people didn’t use generators but there was one who had his on all day. Great vicinity to west Yellowstone for people who want to explore the park during the day and come back to the campsite in the evening.

Sweet and simple

Stayed here at the end of a day in Yellowstone. I had reserved a spot, but I wish I had waited because apparently there were a few cancellations and no-shows at excellent sites (this is June 2022 after the flooding up north, possibly why?). 10 was huge, level, and lakefront!

Other campers were staying up to two weeks (!)! and had clearly made friends at the end of the loop, they were a bit noisy into the evening. One gentleman told me he is a local and comes out here every year. It is a bit of a distance to Yellowstone and there are closer choices, so if you need to max your time at the park maybe this wouldn’t be ideal, but it was beautiful in its own right and the lake was great for recreational use, very quiet and clean. Mosquitoes were aggressive but repellent helped a bit.
