We only stayed briefly here, but I wish it was more time! Looks like a great area to explore. We used it because it was really close to Yellowstone and we could reserve it and arrive late at night. Would love to go back!
Apgar sites are great! The forest in which the tents can be built is lovely. Anti-bear storage has to be shared between sites. Very close to Apgar village and Lake McDonald, which is a pretty nice place to relax and enjoy the views renting bikes or canoes. Also, a WiFi spot at the visitor center is not too far from there. Quick access to West Glacier too, in case you need gas or some camping gear. Loved this place!
This camping area is really close to restaurants and stores within Yellowstone, and is only a short drive from the north entrance of the park. We used this site as a base to explore North East Yellowstone. It can be easily reserved early mornings, and the places to set tents are leveled and dry, although someone thought it was a good idea to add lots of stones to the ground where the tents are set. Nice restrooms are close, and lots of elk and other wildlife wander around the area. Highly recommended!
Madison is close to all the attractions and wildlife that West Yellowstone has to offer. Camping sites can be easily reserved early mornings and the areas are pretty close to bathrooms (really good ones, I must say, compared to other public restrooms within the park). No place for showering, though, and anti-bear storage boxes have to be shared with other sites, so it can be tricky if you have lots of food to store.
We camped here for a couple nights for Cotopaxi's Questival. Awesome site! It has everything you need to enjoy a night out with the stars ✨
