Best RV Parks & Resorts near Wake Village, TX

Several RV parks near Wake Village provide full hookup options for motorhome travelers. Texarkana RV Park & Event Center offers pull-through sites with 50-amp service, though spaces can be narrow with site poles potentially interfering with slide placement. Shady Pines RV Park provides level sites with water, electric, and sewer hookups at $38 per night, operating year-round with big rig accommodation. Forest Lake RV Park features electric, water, and sewer connections with designated spaces for larger motorhomes. Amazing Acres RV Park in Atlanta includes 50-amp service and can accommodate walk-in and drive-in RVs. "Sites are gravel and very level, did not have to use our automatic levelers, impressed," noted one visitor about the Texarkana KOA.

Most RV parks in the region maintain gated entrances for added security, though reviews indicate gates at some locations may be non-operational. Cell service varies significantly between parks, with Buffalo Bayou RV Park offering 4G Verizon coverage at 4-5 bars. Dump stations are available at select locations, though some feature only basic PVC pipes protruding from the ground without proper water spigots for cleanup. Pet policies are generally accommodating, with designated dog areas at larger facilities like Texarkana RV Park & Event Center, though one review described the dog park as "a 6ft x 6ft chain link square." Seasonal considerations include extreme summer heat, with temperatures reaching 100°F during peak months, making pool amenities particularly valuable for extended stays.

    Piney Point

    Nice clean COE campground

Nice well spaced sites with level concrete pads. Lots of trees for shade in most sites. Beautiful views from the sites on the bluff. It has been quiet every time we were there . Playground ,boat ramp , nice clean showers and rest room. the staff has always been helpful. Most sites are water and electric but there may be some with full hookups . If not , there is a dump station . Very family friendly . No swimming area , but at my age that is not a big deal.

    Buffalo Bayou RV Park

    Not what we expected

Made a reservation via telephone for two days a month in advance, but was not given a site number. When we pulled up to the office there was a note with a telephone number to call, but no answer. I saw a gentleman walking around and it appeared he saw us. After waiting about 10 minutes, I decide to driver further into the park. The gentleman I saw earlier was one of the owners/ managers, I would would have expected him to go to the office to meet the newly arriving guests. I will say that he was friendly enough and later, his wife stopped by to collect the fee and she too was friendly. The park itself has full hook ups and is on the banks of the bayou. The campground require you to sign a waiver because of the water moccasins from the bayou and because of the potential of falling tree limbs. The. Campground is pretty sandy so leveling may be problematic for big rigs. The do allow long term guests to store all kinds of equipment and gear, the site next to us look like a junk yard. Our fellow campers seemed friendly enough with the gentleman on the other side from the junk yard introducing himself.

Texarkana RV Park & Event Center

    Great park, but tight spots.

Texarkana RV Park is a very nice, clean, and friendly RV park. They have a gated entrance for extra security. The park has nice amenities such as pool, playground, laundry, restrooms, dog run, and park-like setting with duck pond. Most sites are pull-thru and plenty long, but narrow. Beware of your slide placement before parking, as site poles may be in the way of a slide fully opening. Each site is gravel with a patio and they have 50 amp FHU. We enjoyed our stay at this campground and would definitely stay again. 👍🏻😊

    Millwood State Park Campground

    Nice Park Overall

We are from TX and came to Arkansas for a wedding. This was my first out of state, state park so keep that in mind. The sites are clean and well cared for. There is exactly ONE pull through site that we were fortunate enough to get. The rest are on a tight road. The highway runs right by the pull through site so the road noise can be loud at times. I recommend staying by the lake if you don’t need a pull through site. There are 2 walking trails and a few playgrounds. No fishing off the pier. The lake is BEAUTIFUL, we saw an alligator (I was quite excited about that). The dump station is a pretty tight squeeze but doable if your site doesn’t have a dump (ours did). ATT cell service SUUUUCKS here. I repeat, it suuuuuucks lol! Picked up 4 TV channels on the 1 rainy day we had. All in all, I would stay here again, just wouldn’t compare it to TX State Parks, because well…. I learned this weekend everything is indeed bigger in Texas.

    Texarkana KOA

    Cozy Campground in T-Town!

Cute and clean! Great for a few nights or longer. Pool, playground, laundry, and showers. The whole place is clean and neat. Easy to access from the I-30 service road, pull through sites available. We live in a 45' 5th wheel and had no trouble at all. FULL HOOK-UPS! 30 and 50 amp.

    Beavers Bend State Park Campground

    Weekend at Acorn- 19

We spent our first weekend in our new 38’ toy hauler. Site 19 is nice and peaceful but not on river. Would have preferred a river side site like 18 or 20. 1 is actually the most private. 19 is a handicap spot so lots of concrete to spread out on! Quite and lot of nice hikes and fishing within walking distance

Guide to Wake Village

Wake Village's RV parks offer convenient access to several regional attractions including Wright Patman Lake and the Texarkana area. Most campgrounds in the region maintain concrete or gravel pads with varying degrees of tree cover for shade. Summer weather includes high humidity with temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F from June through September, while winter nights can drop below freezing in December and January.

What to do

Fishing at Forest Lake RV Park: The park features a stocked fishing pond for catch-and-release fishing. "Good-beautiful grounds with a fishing pond. Large, flat spots," notes one camper, though they also mention the nearby train can be noisy. The fishing pond at Forest Lake RV Park provides a convenient option for those who want to fish without leaving the campground.

Visit nearby restaurants: The location of many Wake Village area RV parks provides easy access to dining options. "Full hookups and close to a lot of restaurants. Only downside is there are several potholes on the entrance to the campground. Have to go very slow," reports one visitor about Sunrise RV Park. Most restaurants are within a 10-15 minute drive from the major RV parks.

Enjoy on-site recreation: Some parks offer recreational amenities beyond the basics. "There is a pool," notes one camper about Sunrise RV Park. Another visitor at Texarkana RV Park & Event Center comments, "Would visit again when in Texarkana, very clean and a lot of activities for families!"

What campers like

Park security: Gated entrances provide peace of mind for many visitors. "They have a gated entrance for extra security," mentions a camper at Texarkana RV Park & Event Center. Though the existing description noted some gates may be non-operational, campers still value the security features when functional.

Quality bathrooms: Clean facilities receive specific praise. "We did take a shower in the morning and they have great bathrooms. They are large and extremely well taken care of. The shower, sink and toilet are all in one locked room," reports one visitor. Another adds, "I would stop here again on my way down to Houston just for the bathrooms."

Convenient locations: Proximity to highways makes these parks practical for travelers. "Excellent staff who are accommodating. One night, full hookups was less than $40. Nice site. Close to a Pilot gas station and I-30," notes a visitor about Sunrise RV Park. The strategic location of Wake Village RV parks makes them popular stopover points.

What you should know

Seasonal weather challenges: Summer heat can be extreme, while spring brings storm risks. "This area smells really bad," notes one Forest Lake RV Park visitor, referring to the humidity and pond effects common during warmer months.

Noise considerations: Proximity to transportation corridors affects some parks. "Very loud and very close train nearby," warns one camper about Forest Lake RV Park. Light sleepers may want to request sites furthest from highways and railroad tracks.

Wildlife awareness: The region's wooded areas and water features attract insects. "Ants everywhere," reports one camper at Shady Pines RV Park. Bringing appropriate insect repellent is advisable, especially during warmer months when ant activity increases.

Tips for camping with families

Seek parks with recreation options: Look for parks offering family-friendly amenities. "There are full hookups and clean restroom. Close access to retailers also," notes one visitor about Texarkana RV Park, which also includes "playground, laundry, restrooms, dog run, and park-like setting with duck pond."

Consider noise sensitivity: Children's sleep schedules may be disrupted at some locations. One visitor at Forest Lake RV Park cautions about the "very loud and very close train nearby." Requesting sites furthest from noise sources can help maintain family sleep routines.

Look for fishing opportunities: The fishing pond at Amazing Acres RV Park provides entertainment for children. "Beautiful place to stay with the most amazing owners. So friendly, so attentive. The place is clean and peaceful," shares one visitor. On-site fishing gives children an accessible outdoor activity.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling expectations: Many RV parks in the region feature well-maintained sites. "Friendly service at check-in. A couple of sites were available for us to chose from. We choose A4 backing up to the catch and release pond. Level site," reports one visitor at Shady Pines RV Park. Proper leveling reduces setup time and improves the camping experience.

Length considerations: Some parks accommodate larger rigs better than others. "We drove in this time with a longer rental unit with a trailer attached and found ourselves in a couple of tough turns trying to get to our spot. Wider lanes and intersections would be appreciated," notes one camper about Texarkana RV Park & Event Center, suggesting careful navigation is required for larger setups.

Slide-out planning: Before finalizing parking position, check for obstructions. "Beware of your slide placement before parking, as site poles may be in the way of a slide fully opening," cautions a visitor at Home Sweet Home RV Park. Taking time to position properly can prevent frustration later.
