    Airport Park - Waco Lake

    Filthy women’s restroom

This park is a short drive to all of Waco attractions including the famous Silos. We stayed Friday and Saturday nights.

    Pros:

    • Very friendly gate attendant

    • Extremely quiet park except for arriving/departing aircraft at Waco Regional Airport

    • Great view of the lake as trees/shrubs are minimal

    • Clean campsite

    • Very clean campfire pit

    • Most sites had a nice distance from neighbor sites

    • Crushed granite surrounds the site’s asphalt parking pad so no muddy mess after rain

    • Pedestal BBQ grill, fire pit with grilling grate and aluminum picnic table at each site

    • Some sites had aluminum roof pavilion over picnic table

    • Some sites had lantern pole

    • Park roadways in good condition

    • Entrance gate locked at 10pm

    • Plenty of TP in women’s restroom

    • 4 bar signal AT&T

    Cons:

    • Filthy women’s restroom. Human feces on floor. Two of the three stalls locked for days. One remaining stall the door would not close and latch. Sign posted on door that restrooms were cleaned Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, but the human feces were on the floor Friday night, Saturday all day and Sunday morning. Exterior door would not close completely.

    • No water to sinks in women’s restroom

    • No soap dispenser and no hand dryer in women’s restroom

    • Men’s restroom door locked Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning

    • Exterior door to one shower room was unable to be closed

    • Extremely low water pressure to campsite

    • No site privacy due to minimal trees/brush throughout the park

    • Low hanging tree branches over roadway and campsite pad

    • Our campsite pedestal BBQ grill was extremely corroded

    • No wildlife sightings- not even a squirrel

    • NOT A DARK SKY FRIENDLY CAMPGROUND! Boat launch lights across the cove lit up most of the campground. Large lights on the toilet/shower building that made it nearly as bright as daylight!

    Clean toilets and showers

    Plenty of TP in restrooms

Sewer connection at rear of parking pad. Bring the looooong stinky slinky!

    Live Oak Ridge

    Wonderful COE campground

We had a 3 night stay here and it was our first experience with a COE campground. It is located on Belton Lake. It is a gated entrance and the gates locked at 11:00pm. Our site was situated at the end of the loop and it was very spacious. It had water/electric with a dump station. It had a picnic table and fire pit. It also has a laundry room near the entrance. There is a playground, restrooms, and showers. There is also a boat dock. It is a very well kept campground. I did not use the bath house, so I cannot give a review on how it looked. The laundry room was spacious and the machines were in working order. It was a perfect campground. My review would have been 5 stars but there is no swimming area.

    Blue Sky I-35 RV Park

    Good breakfast

I stayed here on my way to Houston, I didn't use the shower, laundry or gym, the hosts were really friendly and they will give you hot breakfast. If you want less road noise try parking in the back away from the highway. My spot had 30amp, water and sewer.

COE Navarro Mills Reservoir Oak Park

    Clean-up on Site #11

    Pros

    Discount with National Park pass

    Shady

    Quiet

    Dark sky friendly

Nice metal roof cover over concrete picnic table

Saw park ranger drive thru during daylight

    2 bars T-MOBILE

Successful streaming with T-MOBILE hotspot device

    Cons

So day #2 without any TP in men’s restroom.  Went to front gate to report it and was told they would call it into the Army Corps of Engineers as gate volunteers have no stock of TP on hand.  Never saw any TP before leaving on third day

Toilet facility #1 women’s had raw sewage throughout deep enough to cover your foot. Site 11 has electrical hook up at rear on the door side of the camper

Site 11 water connection is centered at the rear of the parking pad.

    Site 11 unlevel.

Numerous piles of charcoal ash throughout site 11 campsite not in the fire pit.

Concrete picnic table needs degreased as surface has lots of large greasy stain

Site numbers are painted on the concrete picnic table so extremely difficult to see in the dark.

    No WIFI

Wolf Creek - Navarro Mills Reservoir

    Great little lake

This is a great little lake and campground, especially for fishing and boating. The campground offers nice, secluded campsites with full hook-ups. They each have a table & fire pit. The campsites are clean and well maintained. There are several fishing piers and boat loading docks. The lake is clean and great for tubing, standup paddle boarding or just swimming. There is also a roped off designated swimming area with a small beach. The campground is usually not crowded except for big summer holidays. Lots of wildlife like deer, etc. The public restroom & showers are clean and well kept. There also is a dumping station and a park host is on duty 24 hours a day. No hiking though but walking around the lake is really enjoyable. Bring your own water crafts because there isn’t any rentals offered here. Very low key & enjoyable.

    Airport Park - Waco Lake

    Chilling by the Lake

We setup right next to the Lake Waco, we enjoyed a light breeze coming off the lake most of the time. We arrived after the gate house closed but before the gates closed. Sites look level but we needed to reposition a couple times to get everything thing level and maximize the view. All sites come with covered picnic table and fire ring. Not many trees so shade is hard to find. Was a great place to stay and is close to Waco. Only negative was the bathhouse needed some attention. But overall this is a good place to stay

    The showers gave me life

I’ve spent a lot of time in Belton, but never at this campsite. I was delayed by a day due to tornadoes in the area, so I was already frustrated when I arrived to find that no one mans the entry gate…ever. I also did not receive my confirmation email upon booking, which contains your code to enter the gate, but luckily enough they have a number posted you can call and camp hosts within sight of the gate who can help you get in. I was on loop 4, which has the best shade, but some of the sites can be a little crammed in (and it can become loud on the weekends which is to mostly be expected). No sewer hookups, but they do have a dump station on site. Another perk is the private boat ramp for campers along with covered picnic tables at the less shaded sites and a playground for kids. My favorite part was honestly the showers though—they were so fantastic! The bathroom is heated in the cooler months and the water pressure and hot water can’t be beat; it’s the best camp shower I’ve experienced! I also had good enough service with AT&T to work with my phone’s hotspot, but Verizon was pretty poor and even streaming videos was choppy, though you can call and text as usual.
