    Son’s Guadalupe

A nice campground right on the Guadalupe River!

We really enjoyed Son’s Guadalupe! It’s a beautiful setting, cabanas and glamping tents on a small hill overlooking the Guadalupe River with it’s huge cypress trees and giant limestone bluffs. The glamping tent was perfect for us. It had 2 queen beds with foam mattresses, 1 twin bed, bedside table with fans and the best part: AC! It’s a very family friendly location compared to others on River Road. We tubed Whol we stayed there as well. It’s a nice setup as they take you up river to float back down to your glamping tent and/or cabana.

    Ranch 3232

Perfect for different types of camping

You have the choice of camping at a tent site, park your RV, to glamp in a yurt or cabin, or even walk out to a more secluded “TentRR” site. Regardless of what choice you make, there’s a community kitchen with small appliances/dishes and the bathhouse with showers, toilets, and vanities. It really is the best of both, especially if you’re trying to camp for several days and would like to stay relatively clean and well fed. We’ve stayed there three years in a row now!

    Cute campground

It was a cute place. A lot of the RV spots are taken up by people who live there. The glamping tents are super cute. The regular tent camping is nice and grassy. Dogs have to be on leash 24/7 that was the only bummer.

Our Family loves Son’s River Camp!

We stayed in one of their air-conditioned glamping cabins. It was very nice and clean and the AC stayed very cold. They have private, lockable, full bathrooms right behind the cabins. The place is very pretty and the staff friendly. We loved tubing and kayaking the San Marcos River! It’s a great getaway!

    Great family experience!

We had a fantastic time at Son’s Geronimo! Their glamping cabins are super nice and had everything we needed including AC, WiFi, full kitchen, fire pits, hammocks etc. We have a family of 6 and the setup was perfect: 2 queen beds and 2 twin beds. The property itself pretty large and has a lot of creek frontage. We kayaked, paddle paddle boarded, swam, fished and more! They also have lots of amenities: 2 pools, 2 hot tubs, volleyball court, basketball court, game room, horseshoe pits and more. We will definitely be back!

    Son’s Island - Temporarily Closed

A tropical oasis right here in Texas!

Son’s Island is awesome! What a great experience we had. We stayed in one of their glamping tents. It had 2 queen beds and a twin bed but the best part is it had air-conditioning and it stayed very comfortable. You get to use the cabanas for free at night from 7:30 PM - 10:00 am when you rent a tent but you must also rent a cabana for the day if you plan to stay. It is well worth the money. Each cabana comes with its own private dock, lots of comfortable seating, electricity, water, BBQ pit, picnic table and hammock. We heard lots of people rave about this place. It definitely surpassed our expectations!

    Son’s River Ranch

    Our favorite River property!

We loved everything about Son’s River Ranch! The staff is great, the place was very clean and we had a blast! Our glamping cabin was nice, it was well worth the money to not to have to set up a tent and do all that work. Plus the AC kept us very cold and comfortable at night and the kitchenette had everything we needed to cook and make meals. We rented a cabana for the day too and it was fun to hang out and relax by the river and BBQ. The next day we tubed and kayaked. They have a wristband you can buy for the day that is good for unlimited kayaking and tubing, we did both! The trip took about 2 hours by tube and an hour by kayak. They have shuttles to bring you back up to River Ranch when you are done. I highly recommend this place!

    Son’s Guadalupe

Great time on the Guadalupe River!

My family and I all visited Son’s Guadalupe in August for a quick getaway. I grew up camping, tubing and swimming in the Guadalupe growing up so I wanted to share that experience with my three sons but being from the area I also know how river rd can be rowdy at times in the summer. I was happy to find out Son’s recently opened up a place out there as we had visited a couple of their other locations and they had been very family friendly. We rented a cabana for the day as well as an air-conditioned glamping tent to stay overnight. We had such a great time! The cabanas sit right on the bank of the river and have everything you need including: seating, picnic table, BBQ pit electricity and water. The river is a bit shallow at their location for swimming (much of the Guadalupe is) but it the perfect depth to get in relax and cool off. This section of the Guadalupe River is very clear and flows great for tubing. We rented some tubes and they took us up river a couple of miles to float back down to our cabana which was very convenient. The scenery on the tubing trip is absolutely gorgeous, huge cliffs and cypress trees! After a fun day it was nice to relax in a comfortable tent with AC! The mattresses were foam and very comfortable. You do have to bring your own pillows, sheets and blankets though. For bathrooms, they have 5 individual bathrooms up top with showers. Overall we had a great time and I’d recommend the place. It can get a bit crowded on weekends so go during the week if you’re not wanting to be around crowds. Also, they rent everything a-la-carte, so if you plan to stay the night you need to tent a cabana or covered picnic table during the day. There website does a good job explaining everything but it’s a bit different if you haven’t been before so be sure to read through your reservation before heading out.

    Son’s Guadalupe

    Extremely expensive

There's a new racket on the Guadeloupe River y'all. We made reservations for a Glamping tent for Father's day weekend. The price was high@$199.48 a night but we thought ok so we don't have to setup a tent plus it has A/C. I made the reservation for 3 nights with 20% off total was$560.24. I was not told at the time of making this reservation that I would also need a day reservation and that would cost extra. I would not have made the reservation if I knew it was going to cost a minimum of$380 for 1 day!$199 was bad enough. So someone else can rent the cabana right next to our tent during the day and could possibly go into our tent and help themselves to all our stuff! No sir! So in order to have access to our tent and make sure no one else rents the cabana next to us it will cost$478! WOW!!! for 24 hrs This also means that I can't leave our cooler, chairs or tubes at our tent. So every morning we have to load all our stuff up like we are checking out and leaving. Load all your stuff and put it in the truck while we are out floating the river then come back at 7pm unload and settle in all 3 days. What kind of crocodile snot is this?) I got my email confirmation and thought I was set. I called today and found out that the$199.48 is only for the hours of 7pm to 10am. What in the blue blazes is that? I have a reservation for 3 days! I can only be on the property from 7pm to 10am. I was informed that I needed day use and to rent a table or cabana to be on the property from 10am to 7pm below are the prices and breakdown of cost. I was told that this is the only property that is owned by the Sons company that makes you leave at 10 am and requires an additional rental for the other half of the day. I enjoy floating the river but I can tell you with absolute 100% certainty that I will not be floating from 10am to 7pm so this property requires you to pay extra to be there at any time between 10 and 7. Site# A Reservation date April 24$199.48@ night@ 3=$560.24 with 20% discount Pinic table cost$181.40 Saturday$81. 40 Sunday Cabana cost$279. Love Love Love This Park

Blanco State Park is just beautiful. It sits right on the shores of the Blanco River and we had a gorgeous view of the water. The restrooms were in top shape and our site had a covered picnic table.  In our trip around Texas, this was one of our favorite state parks.  Easy to book online and very inexpensive with our Texas State Parks pass.  We were even able to walk into the cute town of Blanco and enjoy some fantastic BBQ at Old 300!  Would love to return.

    Thousand Trails Medina Lake

So far in our FT living this is one of our top 5 TT campground

Well it isn't the newest campground around. As a matter of fact, it could stand a few upgrades. But they are minor and do not take away from the breathtaking views, wildlife abound and the overall peace and serenity with staying at this campground. We stated close to the water which btw is just water and electric. If you want full hookups you will need to be a short distance away from the lake. About a 1/8 of a mile. We were lucky to be there on two beautiful winter days in Texas, days were in the low 70's and nights around 40. Prefect as the picture taking. We will no doubt be back when passing through. Oh and btw, you will have to travel up and down the Hill country of Texas to get there. It in itself is a beautiful drive.

Nice campgrounds with even nicer facilities

I cannot express how impressed we were with these restrooms. Seriously cleanest and newest restrooms we’ve seen at a SP in Texas. Had some very unafraid raccoons run up to our site. Yelling and tossing rocks near their feet did not deter at all. Had to interrupt our dinner and put our food away to get them to leave us alone. The tent pad was large enough for our massive tent and one other 2p tent. Great trees for hammock hanging and a picnic table. Favorite thing was the restroom though honestly.

    Bending Oaks Ranch RV Resort

    Excellent for a Private campground

I dont normally stay at private campgrounds as I am on a mission to visit every public campground in the great state of Texas. We needed to stay in Fredericksburge for a family affare and this fit our needs perfectly. plento of room to walk the dogs, level sites and easy access to the area.  If I am ever in this area again and need a campsite I will state here.

    Stone Creek RV Park

    Just off i35

Super easy to get to off i35 between New Braunfels and San Antonio. The park is nice but could use some updating. The daily sites are up front and those are kept up, but if you walk around the park the ones near the back that are mostly monthly rentals could use some TLC. The playground was okay but the dog parks were nicer. It was cold so we skipped the pools but they have two.

We stayed three weeks here after being caught in the Texas Arctic vortex. They were very accommodating considering we extended our stay twice. The location is super convenient and about 30-45 minutes from the River walk.

    Nice lodge and bathrooms

The setting is beautiful in the Texas Hill country. The lodge and pool are fantastic. There is also Gaga ball, a basketball court, a play ground, game room and ping pong. Activities in the lodge for kids. The bathrooms were very nice. I was a little disappointed with the river. It was quite a walk to the river and it was very very low. Other than that, everything was great....I’m just a river girl and wished for more. The RV spots are small and close together. We had to put our table behind our small travel trailer because there was not any room next to us.

Great Shade - Lots of Road Noise

Pulled into our site a little before dinner time. All sites seem to be pull through, so that’s nice but if you get an even number site in the pecan loop be aware of the proximity to a bust county road with a lot of road noise.

The pecan loop has the most shade, important in Texas in the summer.

Electrical box is old, rusting and the breakers are loose with wires visible. Use your surge protector here - well, always use a surge protector but especially here.

Water pressure is low so be prettier that too.

    Texas Camping at its finest

We loved the quiet and peace of this RV Resort nestled in Texas Hill Country.

The Park: they have a large pool area with cafe and snacks. The property is large and spaces are spread out through out the park. The big draw is the Guadalupe River, Canyon Lake, and the woods and hills.

They have hot shoes, bath houses, laundry.

The sites: Gravel and mostly level, very few sites were unlevel. You’re surrounded by hills so it is nice and quiet. They are full hook up sites. Each site had a fire ring and picnic table. Small deer herds would move through the park each evening. Many of the campers feed them corn and they know the sounds and come running out of the hills.

The campground is near grocery and hardware stores. Within an hour are several bigger towns with more stores.

Cellular: T-Mobile was decent but not great. They do have Campground WiFi that worked faster.
