    Tree Cabins RV Resort

    Awesome staff and amenities

This is a real cozy, well taken care of site with a very accommodating staff. Each spot has a grill and fire pit with plenty of parking space, there’s clean spacious showers/ bathroom and kayak rentals for the water access on site. I’d definitely come back with my RV and rent a cabin for my friends.

4 J Riverway Frio River Cabins & RV Park

    Great place for summer vacation!

We had a great time at 4J this past weekend. It was our first time staying at 4J, and I was impressed. I stayed in the Kyle cabin and the place was nice and clean. I wiped certain areas just to make sure and it was spotless. The beds are very comfortable, didn’t expect that. The front office employees were very nice. The common areas are really nice. 4J is right next to the Rio Frío, it’s very shallow, but it was perfect for our kids(8, 6, 1 year old). We really enjoyed our self. Forgot to take picture.

    Bandera Crossing Riverfront RV Park

Fairly New Park, More Amenities Coming Soon

This park has been open for just over a year. They are adding amenities, but for what is there right now, it was a bit pricey. Yes, I'm sure the pricing was upped due to Mardi Gras weekend. It will be nice when tables and grills/fire rings are added for each site, but right now, it's basic full-hookups and not much more.

    Check In: 3p Check Out: 12 p

    Length of Stay: 3 Nights

💲 Cost per night $59 (price will be $75/night for Mardi Gras weekend 2023)

    Discounts: Good Sam 10%

    📝 Site#38 Notes:

    • Water
    • Max amp: 50 Sewer
    • Wifi
    • Site Pad: level, gravel, long (it was a back-in site, but it's been upgraded and is super long pull-through)
    • Utilities were close to the front. Parked camper and pulled the truck behind it instead
    • Close to neighbors, but room enough for tables and such (if you brought them)
    • No privacy between sites

    👍🏻 Pros:

    • Overflow parking nearby if needed
    • Close to the river
    • Big area to walk dogs or kids to play by the river (watch for sticker burrs in some areas)

    👎🏻 Cons:

    • Front row closest to the road- a little road noise
    • No tables, fire rings or grills at campsites
    • No shade trees
    • No wind brake

    📝 Park Notes:

    • River access - but it's pretty low right now. Won't be kayaking or even tubing anytime soon
    • Some deer in the park
    • Cabins
    • Some large fire rings on the outskirts of park, but not at sites
    • 3 miles into Bandera - close but nice to get away during big event weekends
    • There was a food truck on site, but it wasn't open this weekend

    In process of being built:

    • Great Lodge (should be ready by March) - Office, Store, Restrooms/Showers
    • Zipline
    • Yurts
    • Amphitheater
    • Pool/Hot Tub

    Dos Rios RV Park

Rv park with some decent tent sites

It’s not super private and there are only 2 bathrooms (one men’s and one women’s) serving the entire site and the shower is inside the bathroom so if someone is showering you may be waiting quite awhile to be able to potty. The site was clean and each tent site came with some extra tables and chairs and a picnic table. Had a grill and a fire pit at ours. Dumpster available so you don’t have to take all your trash with you.

    Kerrville-Schreiner Park

X-Texas State Park Operated by City of Kerrville

This is an X-State Park that the City of Kerrville assumed operation in 2004. Very popular, nice park, but it’s really beginning to show its heavy use. Bandera Highway splits this park with check-in on the Guadalupe riverside of Bandera Highway. FHU sites in Deer Field Loop, which require a gate access code for access, are a good distance from the next site, with the site across the road are closer. Asphalt parking pad fairly level. Wooden picnic table, metal fire pit with cooking grate. Utility hook-ups in good condition at our campsite. The picnic table is at least 50 feet from the camper parking pad, which is chained to the concrete pad it sits on. Noise from Highway 173 and the approach pattern for the Kerrville Municipal Airport, so lots of low flying aircraft. Otherwise, campers were quiet and respectful. Deer came very close to us while sitting at the fire pit. Toilet/shower facility clean; women had 2 sinks, 2 toilets and 3 showers. There are two washers and two dryers on the backside of the Deer Field Loop toilet/shower facility, but the washer lids were ripped off, but lying there. Easy day trips to Hill Country towns from this park to include Fredericksburg, Austin, New Braunfels and San Antonio. In Kerrville, don’t miss Grape Juice Restaurant, brand new HEB open November 2020, Belks and Gibson’s Store.  Camp Verde General Store and Restaurant is only a 20-minute drive.

Guide to Kerrville

Cabins near Kerrville provide access to outdoor recreation in the Texas Hill Country at elevations ranging from 1,600-1,900 feet. The Guadalupe River flows through the region, creating riparian camping environments. Seasonal temperatures vary dramatically from hot summers to occasional winter freezes, affecting cabin rental availability and riverside activities.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Johnson Creek RV Resort offers catch and release fishing in their creek, set among 100-year-old pecan trees. "We stayed here for a week and did some motorcycle day trips. Good base of operations for hill country adventures. There's a nice playground, putting green, a stream for catch and release fishing," notes a visitor.

Hiking trails: Kerrville-Schreiner Park maintains a network of hiking paths accessible from cabin areas. "Kerrville park has great in town trails. Guadalupe River access& nice warm showers in the restrooms," reported one camper. The park's trail system connects different camping zones while providing wildlife viewing.

Wildlife viewing: Texas Hill Country Resort in nearby Medina offers cabin guests hiking opportunities with panoramic views. "Take the hiking trail to the observation deck and see the whole valley!" recommends one visitor. White-tailed deer and small mammals are commonly spotted near cabins in early morning and evening hours.

What campers like

Spacious layouts: River Trail Cottages & RV Park receives praise for its uncrowded riverside setting. "Great spot near downtown, peaceful by the Guadalupe River. Big lawn, fire pits, grills—perfect for a picnic!" notes one camper, highlighting the balance of open space and proximity to town.

River access: Cabin stays at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park include water recreation options beyond standard amenities. "The river is very shallow, with pools scattered throughout. We walked out until we found a nice pool to sit in, and relax," shares a visitor. Cabin guests can access the river via dedicated walking paths.

Clean facilities: Bathrooms and shower facilities receive consistent positive mentions from cabin campers. "The bathrooms were always clean and even have private showers. They also have very nice cabins for those who don't have r.vs," notes a visitor to Old River Road RV Resort. Most cabin properties maintain strict cleaning schedules for shared facilities.

What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Winter cabin rentals offer different experiences than peak summer stays. "We found this park as we were traveling and they were very helpful over the phone. Great staff and friendly! All sights are concrete and very clean and beautiful park. Close to the highway but couldn't hear any traffic at our sight," notes a Buckhorn Lake Resort visitor.

Pet policies: Many cabin rentals welcome pets but enforce specific rules. "If you have pets getting a back-in site may give you more room to let them move around if tethered to your camper during some outside time," advises a Johnson Creek RV Resort & Park visitor. Pet deposits typically range $15-25 per stay.

Reservation timing: Cabins near Kerrville book quickly during peak seasons. "We've camped at this park for years and love it! It is a former state park and now so we'll maintained. Lots of wildlife and Guadalupe River access for swimming, fishing, and kayaking," explains a Kerrville-Schreiner Park visitor, highlighting why advance planning helps secure popular cabins.

Tips for camping with families

Water recreation options: Beyond standard swimming areas, look for cabins with diverse water features. "For water attractions there is a small water park with big slides, a fun water zone for the smaller kids, and a couple of regular pools, plus one indoor pool," explains a visitor to Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park, detailing options beyond standard river access.

Wildlife feeding opportunities: Some cabin properties offer structured animal interactions. "There are goats and mini horses you can feed so our kids loved that. Fun playground for kids, too!" shares a visitor about Johnson Creek RV Resort. Morning feeding times provide educational opportunities for children.

Activity scheduling: Cabin stays with children benefit from strategic planning. "Needed a quick stop before we headed on our trek to UT. Such a great find! Our kids were so excited and there was so much to do," notes a Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park visitor, suggesting morning water activities and evening recreation options help structure family time.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: Cabin campers should consider lot location and privacy needs. "We We stay down by the river. The road was real close to the site that we stayed in period over all the camp grounds are nice well maintained and not stacked on top of each other. Went for a walk and ride on the upper side of the park in that area is much quieter," notes a visitor to Kerrville-Schreiner Park.

Gate access: Several properties use security systems requiring codes or cards. "Remember to check in at the Ranger station over on the river side because you will need a gate code to access the hill side of the park," advises a Kerrville-Schreiner Park visitor, highlighting a practical detail often overlooked by first-time guests.

Noise considerations: Road proximity affects some cabin locations. "Some reviews noted a lot of road noise from hwy, but we were not anywhere near hwy, so NO noise. However, the south side of park is directly below airport approach and landing and pvt. jets and general aviation aircraft could be noisy," explains a Kerrville-Schreiner visitor, helping guests choose quieter cabin locations.
