"The sites are well maintained with ample vehicle parking that offer substantial distance from the neighboring sites, giving room to bring multiple vehicles or a boat along with the RV," noted one visitor about the area.

Access to several parks requires careful navigation, with some travelers reporting concerns about bridge weight limits. One RV owner mentioned: "We crossed a 10-ton bridge when leaving and lightly drug the rear of our RV getting onto the bridge." Dump stations are available at most parks, though hookup placement varies considerably. Several reviewers mentioned poorly positioned sewer connections requiring extra-long hoses. Many parks maintain year-round availability with reservation systems. Pet policies generally allow dogs with standard restrictions, though dedicated dog parks are limited. Basin RV Resorts receives positive comments for its cleanliness and pool facilities, while East View RV Ranch earns praise for accommodating longer stays. Cellular service is generally reliable throughout the region.

    Rocky River RV Resort

Beautiful campground for long term residents

RV camper here. I rate campgrounds from the viewpoint of wanting a place for a brief family vacation. When we arrived here we made a reservation online (easy) so that was good. But the woman up front had trouble finding our reservation and was unpleasant (happily we had a screenshot). I think she’s one of the owners. It wasn’t a great way to feel welcomed especially with COVID where most parks have contactless check in anyway. Despite the customer service, the stay was otherwise uneventful.

Good: The park has beautiful river access and was very quiet. Anyone in the area can get the same river access by parking to the side of the bridge over the river on 190 and walking down. Landscaping is beautiful and security is good. Almost every site is a pull through.

Bad: The park is almost entirely full of full time residents with everything from FEMA trailers and 60s era camper vans to new Grand Designs. Lots of sites have permanent structures/trailers/patios and there’s bits of trash in high use areas like around the dumpsters and picnic area. The sites are also gravel and not concrete. Sites are close together.

Neutral: There are some cool looking cabins by the dumpsters. We didn’t go in them though, of course.

Summary: This may be a peaceful option for long term residents but I wouldn’t vacation here if I was looking for a weekend getaway. Average rating.

    Cedar Breaks Park

    Beautiful big sites

The sites are large which means you aren't right on top of your neighbors. Lots of shade. Each site has its own shelter with picnic table, grill and fire pit. Electric and water but no sewer. The sites along the outside of the loop have lake views and are level. The sites along the inside are scary unlevel! Some of the big rigs were backed in and jacked up 4 feet or so in front. Saw a lady break her ankle stepping out of her camper. Be prepared to level your camper! I suggest odd numbers 19-35 and even numbers 36-42 as the most level sites with the best lake views.

The park has hiking trails, boating and swimming access, but none of these are accessed right at the camp area.

Restrooms are very basic with no hot water. They were clean but a little creepy for showers. I used the toilets there during the day and my camper shower and toilet at night.

    Jellystone Park™ Austin North

    Dream campground

Amazing resort. Great monthly rate. They go above and beyond with their amenities providing an indoor play room, full kitchen, business center, etc. Very family friendly resort with plenty of activities planned. Lots of full time families staying here long term which makes for a fun time. The one downside was that we didn’t get the sites that we had put a deposit down for. There seems to be a lot of turnover in the office so when we checked in it wasn’t the same lady who had helped us pick out our sites and reserve them. We travel with my parents and always try to stay next to them but they were unwilling to accommodate that even though they originally told us they would. All in all I do recommend this park for the amazing ambiance and amenities.

    Airport Park - Waco Lake

    Airport Park COE, Lake Waco

Airport Park on Lake Waco, in Waco, TX. We really like this park. We were in site 27, which our camp side is shady during the afternoon and evening. Each site has a fire ring, bbq grill, & lantern post. The RV parking pad is asphalt and long. Big Rigs would have no problems here. When we arrived the gravel pad was raked all nice and neat. 50 amp sites are $26 a night. The loop we are in doesn't have the nice restrooms. We are in the loop that has sites 16 - 36. To me, these are the nicer RV sites, if only the restrooms were better. The other 2 loops have really nice restrooms, with private shower rooms. Site 24 looks to be the pick, as it has shade pretty much all day. We will definitely come back to this camp ground.

    Sunset RV Park

    Peace in Hill Country

I typically rate campgrounds as they fit into 1 of 5 categories. This campground will be rated as a Basecamp — grounds that offer a comfortable home base that you’re happy to return to after a day of exploring the surrounding area. Ratings for this category are based on: Value to cost: 5 Overall grounds: 4 Utility of sites (hookups, layout, accessibility): 4 Local Attraction Proximity: 4 Reservation Process/Ease of Getting a Site: 5 Amenities: 4 Customer Service: 5 Cleanliness: 4

A really lovely spot in Dripping Springs, Sunset RV Park is a small park in Hill Country outside Austin (this is not the one near Lake Travis). It’s clear that this is a destination spot for snowbirds to the area as most everyone was set-up for a long-term stay and we saw very few folks come and go during our one-week stay. The park is very quiet with close attention paid to COVID precautions (this is the first park we encountered that was 100% contact free check in).

The park is built somewhat into a hill, so some of the turns are a little tricky and our spot was a bit uneven. The space itself was a very wide asphalt driveway with a picnic table and metal fire ring below a stone wall, perhaps a bit close to our neighbors as I wasn’t totally certain it was definitely ours to use.

The amenities are pretty basic- clean laundry and bathrooms and a good enough wifi signal to allow us to use the internet easily. There’s also propane available on site. I enjoyed the layout of the grounds and each site was afforded some privacy thanks to the set-up and tiered spaces. The weekly rate of $300 was very reasonable.

Excellent access to Hamilton Pool (make reservations!), Reimers Ranch and Westcave Discovery Center. Also about 30 minutes to most of Austin including SoCo, McKinney Falls SP and 6th Street.

Reservations were made by phone with a very friendly woman and, as I mentioned, check in was contactless, so we really didn’t encounter anyone else aside from a friendly wave from folks maintaining the grounds in golf carts. The place is a nice find outside Austin and very close by to family for us, so we’re happy to have found it and will return!

La Hacienda RV Resort & Cottages

La Hacienda RV Resort and Cottages + Lots of Amenities

I'm always on the lookout for new campgrounds nearby my town. It's nice to have a few places to escape to for a quick day or weekend trip. I searched on thedyrt.com for campgrounds nearby and noticed a group of listings near Lake Travis in an area called Hudson Bend. I decided to check them out.

If you are looking for a short, mid or long-term place to RV camp or cabin camp near Lake Travis on the Hudson Bend penisula this might be your best option.

The facilities are modern, clean and offer many amenities. And the people that I talked to that were staying at the park seemed to be friendly and happy with their choice of facilities.

At the entrance there is an office that is open during typical business hours 9-5. Next to the office there was a small pool and courtyard. And next to the pool was a group meeting room.

The park offered a variety of options from short, mid and long-term stays. One gentleman that I met and talked to said that he was a snowbird and had stayed at the park for the past four years every summer. This appeared to be the norm.

There are RV sites that offer back-in parking and drive-through parking. There are also little multi-color cabins that can be rented. The grounds looked like they were well taken care of. There was some open green space and what appeared to be a fenced dog walking area. Each of the RV sites offered a picnic table and electric and water hookups.

The only downside to this RV park was that it was not located directly on the shore of the lake. To access the lake one must drive down the road and visit the marina. Also, the park is rather large, so some might feel there is a lack of privacy. I wouldn't say that this park has great access to nature, it is more of a modern RV park.

Overall, if you're a mid to long term vacationer you might really enjoy this site. If you're looking for access to nature, you might look elsewhere.

    Live Oak Ridge

    Excellent Restful Campground

Live Oak Ridge COE Campground is excellently maintain and is a very low-key, restful place to land.  Large sites with ample vehicle parking that offer substantial distance from the neighboring sites give room to bring multiple vehicles or a boat along with the RV.  The sites are well maintained by the hosts who are not obtrusive and just keep a low profile to ensure things are clean and go well. The restroom area is also clean and has showers and toilets. A better-than-typical playground is set in a great interior place for all to enjoy. Water access is through the boat ramp, so don't expect to launch from your RV site since they are elevated far above the water. We stayed in Site 7 (and later extended it to Site 6). Both were easy to back into and fairly level with nice concrete pads, grills, and wonderful covered picnic tables. Both had tree coverage on one side. There are nature trails across the main road and access to Belton and their small but awesome riverwalk area, historic Salado, Still Hollow Lake, the Belton dam (we could see the mural from both sites), Chalk Ridge Waterfalls and Temple, TX within a few minutes. This is a great landing spot for many nearby activities EXCELLENT National Park pricing for 50 amp and water hookups with dump site available.

    Cedar Breaks Park

    Had a great stay!

I am new to the rv life and own a used Coleman Bayside pop up camper. I own a business in Austin and love escaping to the woods at the end of the day.

Im wrapping up a 10 day stay at Cedar Breaks Park campground and will return for sure!

Lake Georgetown is the main attraction and is beautiful, quiet & clean.

The park & campground is easy to find and easy for larger or vehicles with travel trailers / campers in tow. Many grocery stores / restaurants / shopping / medical facilities are close by also (within 2-5 miles)

Sites all have 30, 50a and water hookups (im not sure about sewer hookups at sites but they do have a sewer dump station at front of campground) more than adequate restroom & shower facilities located in the center of the campground.

The staff is absolutely amazing, they are friendly, knowledgable and accommodating.

ROOKIE MISTAKE #1 “GET THE AFTER HOURS GATE CODE” After setting up camp the first day, I realized I needed food for Grady (my silver lab) and drove to Walmart. WELL, I didnt pay attention and got locked out. I didnt have the after hours gate code & had to park out front and walk down to my site & wentback up in the morning to get my truck. Not a huge deal, but a lesson I learned lol

Guide to Cordell Hull Lake

RV sites near Cordell Hull Lake offer year-round camping access in central Texas. The area experiences hot summers with temperatures regularly exceeding 95°F and mild winters. Most campgrounds maintain gravel sites with varying levels of shade, though Cedar Bend RV Park features concrete pads that can accommodate larger vehicles.

What to do

Fishing opportunities nearby: Berry Springs RV Park serves as a convenient base for accessing nearby fishing spots. "They are a mile or so off of I 35 which makes this easy to access. They have ample space and lots of amenities. Nice choice for long term or just passing through," notes Steve & Ashley G.

Visit historic areas: Sites around Salado provide access to local attractions. One camper noted about Tranquil Gardens RV Park: "This small little park has been very peaceful so far. The people are wonderful and it's very pet friendly. Amenities are lacking and the price is high but over all if you need to stay in the area we recommend it."

Evening campfires: Several parks host community gatherings. At Salado Sky RV Park, "They host campfires regularly which was super fun! Many of the people there have become our friends," according to Meldyn B., who stayed for over six months.

What campers like

Private spaces: The spacing between sites varies considerably between parks. At North Crest RV Park, campers appreciate "wide private shaded cement slips. Nice not to be within 5 feet from your neighbor," as Doug M. notes.

Clean facilities: Parks maintain varying standards for their bathhouses. "The bathhouse is exceptionally clean. The camper pads are level," reports Karan W. about North Crest RV Park.

Seasonal shade: Trees provide crucial relief during hot months. "The well kept grounds provided natural shade to keep our camper cool," writes Deanna C., who stayed during a summer heat wave.

What you should know

Bridge weight restrictions: Some access roads have weight limits. Check routes carefully before arrival, particularly with larger RVs.

Storage options: Some parks offer extended stay capabilities. Texas Station RV Park 2 combines "full hookup parking lot within a storage facility," according to Ty M.

Security features: Several parks implement security measures. At Texas Station RV Park 2, "The RV park is gated and you need an access code to get in," reports Debbie J.

Variable phone reception: Cell service quality fluctuates throughout the area, with strongest coverage near major highways.

Tips for camping with families

Private bathroom facilities: North Crest offers "two full baths in total privacy. Can be used as family baths," notes Deanna C.

Proximity to attractions: Consider travel time to points of interest. "We are out in the country! That's EXACTLY what I needed for my recovery," shares Alexia G. about East View RV Ranch.

Water access restrictions: Not all parks permit tent camping. Crystal C. reports about Tranquil Gardens RV Park: "Around Salado there is not a lot of opportunity to be close to the historic areas and have tent camping... it does not accept tent campers at all!"

Temperature considerations: Summer visits require cooling strategies. One visitor stayed at North Crest "under a huge covered shelter which was great for shade on this 95 degree day."

Tips from RVers

Level sites: Cedar Bend RV Park provides "level and spacious sites, which is important for RVs to ensure stability and ease of setup," according to Alley R.

Access for large rigs: Many parks can accommodate substantial vehicles. "Roads are wide and pad was fairly level, hard packed gravel. Very easy to get set up," reports Alejandro G. about East View RV Ranch.

Late arrival policies: Some parks offer after-hours check-in. As tom H. explains, "One phone call and everything was handled by Emily - she even met us right at the gate and guided us to our spot. Sites are level, wide, and even shaded."

Overnight convenience: For travelers passing through, some sites allow keeping vehicles hitched. "Very reasonable $55 for full hookups and a convenient place to spend the night. So level we didn't even have to unhook," notes tom H.
