Looking for some elevation?

This is the highest elevation east of the Mississippi. Very great views with lots to do. Hiking, camping and more. Great place to watch the sunset and sunrise.

Fabulous

This amazing campsite it at the base of Big Tom. It’s a moderate hike to and from the campsite with great views. There’s fire rings and lots of sites to choose from. I recommend packing in enough water for your stay because there is not a water source at the site. Also no cell service.

Nice Big Site

Weather was far from good so I quickly decided this site would work. It was pretty level, had a nice fire pit. It was very foggy all day with off and on rain. My mistake was not paying attention to where the runoff was. This morning I had a small stream running through my camp. This site had plenty of room however.

Best view in the high country!

Primitive camping and a perfect uphill 1.9 mile hike to the top of the world! If you're going in the winter I recommend hiking poles for hiking in the snow.

Walk the Appalachian Trail!

Beautiful camping on top of the mountain balds! Watch the sunrise and sunset, but pack appropriately for the wind. The Appalachian Trail passes through this campsite!

Perfect Primitive Camping/Backpacking

Great free primitive camping. If all you need is a fire and a tent, this is the spot for you. The Linville Loop is also an amazing 3-4 day backpacking trip for anyone up to the challenge.

Wonderful site for a getaway

This is a wonderful site to park a RV. The site is so clean and so well maintained. And everyone is so nice. The owners are incredible and accommodating and very quick to respond to any question. There is a beautiful hiking trail. There are cabins to rent if you don’t have a RV. We had the best weekend. Highly recommend! We will be back.

My favorite place

Across the road from the “resort and spa” that houses the rent-by-the-hour hot spring hot tubs. Situated along the beautiful French Broad River. They offer cabins (primitive to full amenities), RV sites, tent sites with electric, tent sites without and primitive tent sites way at the beach with no tables or fire rings. Plenty of shade and trees. Bath houses. The campground is now gated. The AT runs right in front of it as it passes through the adorable little town. There is a little outdoor outfitter, a couple restaurants… beautiful hikes which ever direction you go.

Loved staying here!

A bucket list trip to step foot on the APP and spend time wandering Hot Springs NC.

Non existent

I lived under mellow mushroom and know for a fact that there is no tent camping here. There are paid parking lots on king and queen street, and have seen campers be able to stay there. But NO tent camping here in downtown Boone. Be better off trying to camp at local park or greenway I think, but there’s so much to offer around, find a nice tucked away spot like trash can falls less than 15 away from there.
