Best RV Parks & Resorts near Todd, PA

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Several RV parks near Todd, Pennsylvania provide full-hookup sites suitable for various rig sizes. Raystown Lake/Saxton KOA at Four Seasons features big-rig friendly sites with 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections available year-round. "Our site had a gravel pad, but the surrounding area was not level and you had to climb up a 2-3' incline to get to the fire pit area," noted one camper about nearby Lake Raystown Resort. James Creek RV Resort by Rjourney accommodates RVs with both 30 and 50-amp electrical hookups, water connections, and dump station access, though it lacks full sewer at individual sites. Friendship Village Campground & RV Park offers 70 sites including pull-through options with level gravel pads that can accommodate larger motorhomes.

The topography around Todd influences RV site accessibility, with some parks positioned on hilly terrain requiring careful navigation. Most RV parks in the region remain open year-round, though amenities like pools typically operate seasonally from April through October. According to one visitor at Friendship Village, "The lanes are wide and the curves are easy even with a large rig... The sites were nice, large, and level, we didn't even have to unhook our toad from our Class A." Pet-friendly policies are common across most parks, though restrictions apply in designated areas. Weekends fill quickly during summer and fall foliage season, so advance reservations are recommended, particularly for travelers needing specific amenities like 50-amp service or pull-through access. Many parks provide on-site firewood sales and sanitary dump stations.

    Jellystone Park™ Williamsport

    KID FRIENDLY

This is a huge campground geared around kids. We didn't bring any with us this time and were just staying here overnight. We are in pull through site 753, pretty level gravel site, full hookups, picnic table and fire ring. The site wasn't well cleaned, grease dumped in the gravel, dead grass, lots of stink bugs! Also had to finagle the cable line to get it to work. There are very clean showers and restrooms, large camp store, restaurant, mining for kids, Waterpark, and pool. Many cabins, pull through, back in, and tent sites.

    Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA

Awesome campground while exploring Gettysburg Battlefield!

We couldn't have been more pleased with this campground! The usual variety of sites, back-in and pull through, 50/30/20 amp service with full hookups.  Cable has the usual channels, about 20, available for $2.00 per night.  WIFI is free and we had good service, even though we were quite far from the office.  The site was level and needed no additional blocking, a fire pit and picnic table with ample outdoor sitting room.  A wooded setting gave plenty of shade and lent to the atmosphere of having more room than we actually did.  Located about 4 miles from town it is far enough for that country feel but close enough to be convenient.  The camp store was well stocked with basic needs as was the gift shop.  Trash is picked up daily, just leave it at the entrance to your site when you leave in the morning.  Cell service wasn't the best, Verizon had about 2 bars.  I can't say enough good things about the staff, from check-in and being escorted to our site with help backing in to filling up the propane on the way out everyone was courteous and helpful.  We felt secure at all times, and noticed a staff member frequently driving through on a golf cart.  A dog playground, kiddie playground, pool, putt putt, and other activities for the family.  All in all a very positive experience and a definite thumbs up for this campground!!

    Twin Bridge Campground

    Great Site, Great Staff

Took our new Fifth Wheel for a shakedown trip and decided to try Twin Bridges Campground. Staff was polite, amenities are great and clean, and everyone was friendly and polite. Big spacious sites, and a honeywagon to make things easier (there weren't any full hookup sites the I saw besides the long term spaces). Would definatley stay here again.

    Little Buffalo State Park Campground

A Hidden Gem In Central PA

The campground has approximately 35 sites, most with water and electric, which is rare for many PA state parks. The sites are mostly level, gravel, and good sized for averaged sized RV’s. Larger rigs may have some issues with site length on a few sites, so check ahead of time, but there are a couple pull through sites. Fire rings and picnic tables are at each site, but no wifi in the campground area. We did have cell phone service at our campsite.

The sites along the outer side of the look are more wooded than the inner sites.  The bathhouse is modern, very clean and well maintained. A playground is near bathhouse in the campground, along with several hiking trails. The dump station is easily accessible. Firewood is also available for purchase at the campground.

The campground is located across the road from the actual state park, which is beautiful and well maintained. A large lake is the centerpiece surrounded by multiple hiking trails, picnic areas, and a large swimming pool/aquatics area (in season). The road going to the park and campground is well maintained, with very wide shoulders for easy access, biking, and running. Fishing and boat rental are available on the lake.

We had a wonderful weekend at LBSP and plan to include it on our “Go-To” places to visit and camp.

    Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA

    Camping Gem Near the Battlefields

We had a great stay at Gettysburg/ Battlefield KOA Holiday in Gettysburg, PA.

We stayed in a level pull-thru site(#14) with deluxe picnic table, swinging Adirondack glider, and fire pit. The site was big enough for our motor home and Jeep. Full hook-ups with 50-amp service.

Lots of mature shade trees made the site more comfortable given the July heat. The paver patio with seating and natural landscaping with well-placed boulders made it quite comfortable.

Wow, what a great place to stay when visiting the town of Gettysburg and nearby battlefields.

From the escort to our site and friendly interactions with the staff, we immediately felt at home. The site was covered with clean gravel(which I like to keep sand and dirt outside), the camp store was well-stocked, the pool was inviting, the utilities all worked great, daily trash collection was convenient, immaculate landscaping, and a 2:00 PM check-out make this place a gem when visiting the Gettysburg area.

Just 15-minutes to historic sites, restaurants, and breweries.

    Everything seemed clean and well-maintained.

Bottom Line: This is a great campground in a great location and we can’t wait to go back!

    THINGS I ESPECIALLY LIKED:

    1. Beautifully landscaped site

    2. Well maintained and clean campground

    3. Close to town of Gettysburg and battlefields

    Happy Hills Campground

    Lots of regulars

So this is my second time at Happy Hills Campground in Hancock, MD from June 25th-28th. It being relatively close to the home is the reason for choosing it because of doctor appts for the kids.

The site I was in (F1) was really small and very close to the neighboring site. We got lucky no one was camping next to us. It had full hook-ups (30amp/water/sewer) and a pull thru site with picnic table and fire ring. It was $40/night. This campground is mainly for monthly site rentals with more than 3/4 of them permanent sites.

Lots of golf cart and ATV traffic with no quiet hours that I am aware of. We weren't informed the pool would be open and you had to sign up for two hour timeslots to get in. This must have been information only available to the regulars here. Also cell service (Sprint roaming most of the time) is terrible and the campground wifi is spotty at best. The camp store was closed due to COVID so if needed anything you had to go to town.

Bathrooms were clean. Never checked out the showers but heard they were free.

    Overall, I wasn't a happy camper. I don't think I will be back.

    Black Moshannon State Park Campground

    No cell, no problem!

General: 73-site campground; most have electric hookups, and some are FHU. Pets are only permitted at selected sites. There are also 20 (13 rustic and 6 modern) cabins. Cell service is extremely limited to non-existent (Verizon).

Site Quality: Pads are gravel and most appeared to be level. Site 70 was at the end of the loop which is why we picked it. A picnic table, fire ring, and lantern hook complete each site.

Bathhouse: As has been our experience in all PA state parks, the bathhouse was pristine, and the shower (for no additional cost) was clean with plentiful hot water and was very much appreciated.

Activities/Amenities: Coin-operated laundry. A playground is in the campground and there is an additional one at the swimming beach. The swimming beach is open from mid-May to mid-September, from 8 am– sunset. Electric motorboats are permitted on Moshannon Lake. Boat rentals are available in season. Permits are required. 24 miles of hiking trails, including two trails directly from the campground to the lake. In the summer, there is a camper store/concession stand. Hunting is allowed in season. There are 4.3 miles of mountain biking trails.

I used to think Oregon State Parks were the best, but Pennsylvania State Parks have them beat by a mile. We have yet to be disappointed by the amenities(especially the clean bathrooms) offered at the half-dozen state parks we have visited so far.

    Cowans Gap State Park Campground

Great state park in southern PA.

We stayed in camping area A during mid April this year. It was a nice state park. Hiking, fishing, a lake, long creek. Clean bathrooms, heated bathhouse. Our site was #80 and had electric on it, water was just across the road. It was level, with a picnic table and fire ring. The ground was some pretty aggressive gravel, but it kept the ground pretty dry, and it had rained a fair amount in the days before we arrived. Very spotty cell service with T-Mobile. Some spots were more level than others, and others, some looked tricky for larger trailers. Weather was all over the place (as to be expected in this area in mid April. Had all four seasons in 5 days. Would revisit for sure. Totally forgot pictures of the site, but it was pretty typical for a state campground.

    Rocky Gap State Park Campground

    Always a great time!

This place is awesome! Our site (15) was a spacious pull through with great view of the mountain through the fall foliage! Our friends were in the site next to us (17) which was also nice and there was a wide walking path between them. Family also stayed in one of the rental cabins (21). Sites are spaced far apart in the section we were in with lots of foliage for privacy. There is walking path behind the loop along the lake that goes to the beach area and camp store. Easy access to the bath house with several paths off the loop. I recommend the pull through sites for their size and privacy but most sites looked great. The cabin was cute. It had a queen bed, bunk beds, side table and front porch with a couple windows. Picnic tables are large and fire pits were placed perfectly for our site.

Guide to Todd

Raystown Lake sits at around 760 feet above sea level in central Pennsylvania, with the surrounding campgrounds nestled in the Appalachian foothills. The hilly terrain makes for variable campsite conditions, with many RV parks situated on uneven ground requiring leveling equipment. Winter temperatures often drop below freezing from November through March, with occasional snowfall affecting winter camping options.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Raystown Lake offers multiple access points for anglers, with bluegill abundant at locations like Tautman Run and Aitch. "Raystown Lake has multiple access areas that are probably 15-20 minutes away - we fished at Tautman Run and Aitch - both were accessible and had lots of bluegill to steal our worms," notes a camper at Raystown Lake/Saxton KOA at Four Seasons.

Weekend events: Many rv campgrounds near Todd, Pennsylvania schedule regular activities for campers. "We stayed during Bigfoot weekend. It was super fun as our family likes bigfoot fun. We started out Friday night getting the offered $12 bbq plate that included pork burnt ends, beans and potato salad," shares a visitor at Timber Run Campground.

Miniature golf: Several campgrounds maintain on-site courses. At Friendship Village Campground & RV Park, families can enjoy "mini golf, fishing, and special events on weekends," according to one reviewer who mentioned these activities were available even during off-season visits.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Bathroom quality varies significantly between campgrounds. "Beautiful location! Excellent service, really nice owners that are very helpful and friendly. Clean and luxurious bathrooms and restrooms," writes a visitor at Honey Bear Campground.

Jumping pillow: This popular feature at select campgrounds provides entertainment for children. "For tent campers I recommend staying in the area of sites 5-25 as there is a very nice bathhouse very close by. The best sites if you have kids are sites 145-171 as those are right beside the jumping pillow, playground and gaga ball pit," suggests a Friendship Village camper.

Movie nights: Campground entertainment includes outdoor films. "The property had a movie showing in their barn on Saturday night (Despicable Me) and they also seem to schedule a lot of live entertainment, mostly Bluegrass," notes one visitor to Friendship Village Campground.

What you should know

Seasonal changes: Most rv parks in Todd, Pennsylvania area have different amenities available depending on when you visit. "We went camping here for the first time this weekend. Although it was the off season there was still tons to do," explains a camper at Friendship Village who visited during cooler months.

Site leveling challenges: The mountainous terrain creates uneven camping surfaces. At James Creek RV Resort by Rjourney, sites may require additional equipment for proper RV setup, with water and electric hookups available but no sewer connections at individual sites.

Highway noise: Some campgrounds experience traffic sounds that might affect light sleepers. "Nice campground, clean and plenty of activities for the kids. The only thing we didn't like was all of the road noise. This campground is located by 2 major highways and truck traffic and Jake brake are constant all night long," warns one Friendship Village visitor.

Tips for camping with families

Pool schedules: Swimming areas typically have specific operating hours. "The pool hours are a little later than most campgrounds as they open at 11 through the week and 12 on Sunday," notes a visitor to Friendship Village, adding "Neither pool has provided seating so you will need to bring your own camp chairs or towels."

Educational programs: Some parks offer structured learning activities. A visitor at Timber Run Campground shared, "On Sunday we had pancakes and later a visit from RayCEP which is an education program that PA DNCR provides talking about various outdoorsy type things. This is primarily for kids, but we sat and listened too."

Playground locations: Consider site proximity to play areas based on family needs. "There are many playgrounds spread out across the property as well as a jumping pillow and a very well-built gaga ball pit," mentions a Friendship Village reviewer who stayed at site 41.

Tips from RVers

Alternative travel routes: Local knowledge can save significant driving time. "One last tip: if traveling from the Altoona area, go out through Martinsburg over Cove Mountain Rd - it saves you 30 minutes to an hour," advises a camper at Timber Run Campground.

RV site selection: At Friendship Village, "For big rig campers, you need to stay at the upper portion of the campground at sites 200-500," recommends a visitor who found the campground well-suited for larger vehicles.

Utility access: Water connections may be shared between sites at some campgrounds. "We shared 1 water source with 2 other campers. In order to hook anything up, you had to be in your neighbor's space," warns a visitor to Western Village RV Park, indicating the need to verify hookup arrangements before arrival.
