Lyman Run State Park Campground and Hills Creek State Park Campground offer cabin accommodations with varying levels of amenities near Sabinsville. Cabins at Hills Creek feature two bedrooms, full kitchens with microwaves and coffee makers, comfortable furniture, and covered porches. Electric hookups are standard at both locations, with most cabins providing refrigerators and indoor seating areas. Lyman Run's cabins are situated in wooded settings with fire rings and picnic tables approximately 50 feet from parking areas. "We were impressed with the 2 bedroom cabin. The kitchen had the usual plus a microwave, toaster and coffee pot. The furniture was comfortable for a cabin and the porch was delightful to sit on during a rainy morning," noted one visitor to Hills Creek.

Rustic and modern cabin options exist throughout the region, with Ole Bull State Park Campground providing year-round availability. KOA-style cabins near Watkins Glen include amenities like small refrigerators, television sets, and bunk beds suitable for couples or small families. Pet policies vary by location - DB Adventures and Canyon Country Campground welcome pets at their cabin sites, while others may restrict certain breeds or require additional fees. Advance reservations are essential, particularly during summer months when cabins book quickly. A camper at Watkins Glen/Corning KOA wrote: "Our cabin was barebones but it was clean, had a TV, small refrigerator, a bunk bed and full. Plenty of room for two people!"

Most cabins require guests to bring their own linens, towels, and personal items. Kitchen provisions differ significantly between locations - modern cabins typically include basic cooking equipment and utensils, while rustic options may only offer outdoor fire rings for meal preparation. On-site camp stores at locations like Pine Creek Vista Campgrounds and DB Adventures sell firewood, ice, and limited groceries. Cabin rates vary seasonally, with weekday stays often priced lower than weekends. Pennsylvania state park cabins typically rent for full-week minimums during peak summer months but offer more flexible scheduling during spring and fall seasons.

      Retreat at Fern Hill

      Clean, private, swimming!

Stayed here multiple times. Cabin is clean, large firepit, huge patio, great swimming pond with a slide. Cabin included many kitchen items as well as there being a full size freezer/fridge, tables and chairs on the patio. Pet Friendly but no fenced area.

      Hills Creek State Park Campground

Well established and popular- perfect for groups

This is one of the main attractions for the area. Locals come here when the weather is nice.

We stayed in yurts, which are round tents ($38 per night). We had a cozy wooden deck and slept four people in two bunk beds. We also had a cooking stove, refrigerator, heat and electricity.

There is plenty of fishing and hiking to go around.

Really recommend this campsite if you have a little extra money to spend and are looking for a light getaway with friends.

If you're looking for a secluded place for yourself or with a loved one, I would look around the area for a less-popular campsite.

      Happy Acres Resort

Nestled in the mountains of PA

Stayed for 5 nights with a partial hook up for our brand new 32 foot travel trailer. Other reviewers had mentioned that sites were small, so we specifically asked for a larger site. We ended up getting a corner site right on the edge of a hill looking down on the main office and playground. It was perfect. Playground was huge with multiple playsets suitable for all ages. Bathrooms/showers we're clean and well kept. There was a basketball court, shuffleboard and carpet pool that you could borrow equipment for. Our son and his family rented a wolf den cabin and it was very clean as well. Internet access was spotty, as expected but WiFi at the main office was good. We enjoyed the small, but very clean pool. Would definitely go back. Pet friendly, but there isn't a dog park/off leash area. Staff were friendly and helpful. Right across the street from little pine state park.

      Potter County Family Campground

      A great campground!

The campground is run by a family who is super nice. The cabins and the bathhouses were extremely clean. I stayed on a full hookup site that had water/electric/ sewer. The sites have Picnic tables and fire rings that are cleaned out.

The campground was really close to Cherry Springs, where we could go stargazing! It is also close to Lyman Lake where we could go swimming and kayaking and fishing.

I had an amazing time here and I already have other reservations because it was great for big families!

There is also a huge ATV trail right across the road that my neighbors rode at all day!

      Watkins Glen State Park Campground

      Kid friendly, beautiful.

We (family of 5) stayed at Watkins Glen State Park 8/12/20 to 8/16/20. We were tent camping in Seneca Village and had an absolutely BEAUTIFUL site. There was a good mix of tent and RV campers. The bathrooms were clean, the showers were nice and warm. Quiet hours are enforced from 10pm to like 7 or 8am. Firewood and ice are available at the ranger station. Each “village” has a playground for the kids in addition to the large playground near the pool at the entrance to the campground. We didn’t use the pool (though it was open) but got plenty of use out of the playgrounds. The nicest playground was in Tuscarora Village. Tuscarora and Seneca had very nice sites. Onondaga felt like the sites were a little closer to each other or closer to the road. I did not explore any of the other villages but most sites are wooded and offer privacy and seclusion. We had an amazing time hiking and exploring the area and can’t wait to go back.

      Watkins Glen State Park Campground

      Like Stepping into Another World!

Wow, what an absolute delight! From the gorgeous hike up the Watkins Glen Gorge to watching the sunset over Seneca Lake to enjoying some wine from the grapes grown in the region, the Finger Lakes regions is hard to beat for total family entertainment. We came for a couple nights to check it out and stayed for over a week!

The campground at the state park is a classic one, with six loops each representing a native tribe from the area. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring, with no bells and whistles. You can choose from non-electric or electric sites with full-hookups.  We stayed in site #9, just across from the bathrooms, in the Cayuga Loop (non-electric). There is not much privacy between sites, but we were there the week after Memorial Day, so hit it during a lull period. The bathrooms are old, but kept clean and the showers are awesome. There are a couple of playgrounds for the kiddos, picnic areas/shelters, and a pool. There are also some nice cabins for those not interested in camping.

But, the campground is only the beginning of what this area has to offer! Just a short walk from the campground, you will find Watkins Glen Gorge. Entering from the main entrance (as early in the day as you are willing to get there to avoid the crowds) will afford you a walk through what feel like you have stepped into another country (or world for that matter). It is truly one of the most spectacular gorges I’ve ever seen in the U.S.!  Photos simply don’t do it justice.

In addition to great hiking and gorgeous waterfalls, this area is filled with bike trails, water sports of all kinds on Seneca Lake, Farm Sanctuary, the Watkins Glen Int’l Raceway, an extensive wine trail and more! Watkins Glen is a small town, but has all that you need to resupply…including more ice cream shops than I’ve ever seen in just a few city blocks.

We did our usual reservation-less “pull up and see what they have open” style of camping, but during the main season or race weekends, this place is nuts!  You’ll definitely need to plan ahead and make reservations if you plan to be here during the silly season. Note: Prices are lower on weekdays and you get a reduced rate for your second night, too. Bonus!

      Watkins Glen State Park Campground

      GORGEous campground in NY

We went looking for waterfalls to hike and the Gorge hike is located in this state park. We camped for 2 nights at site 166 in the Onondaga Village camground. The site is spacious and has a picnic table and fire ring. Although it was gravel, there are some sites with grassy areas. Our site was right behind the shower house which had clean, hot showers and restrooms. There are water spigots to fill containers located throughout the campground. Most sites don’t have electric and water except on one loop for RVs. We hiked through this park and the Gorge, and unfortunately we lost our camp photos when one of our phones fell in the Gorge and we couldn’t retrieve it. This is a great Basecamp for neighboring parks and trails. We will definitely be back again. Check the website for closures and hours as some things are weather dependent.

    Guide to Sabinsville

Camping cabins near Sabinsville, Pennsylvania provide access to the Pennsylvania Wilds region with elevations ranging from 1,400 to 2,300 feet. The area experiences distinct seasonal variations with moderate summers averaging 75-80°F and winters dropping to 15-25°F. Late spring through early fall offers the most comfortable conditions for rustic accommodations in this forested region of north-central Pennsylvania.

    What to do

Stargazing opportunities: Cherry Springs Dark Sky preserve sits just 8 miles from Ole Bull State Park Campground, offering exceptional night sky viewing. "We decided to go mid October due to a new moon and a trip to Cherry Springs to see the stars! Ole Bull was just a short drive from Cherry Springs," notes Kelly C.

Creek activities: Multiple cabin rental locations provide access to waterways for recreation. At Ole Bull State Park Campground, visitors can wade and explore Kettle Creek. "There is a park, water to swim in, fishing, biking and hiking trails. Electric hookups and firewood for sale," reports Shee N.

Trail hiking: The Pine Creek Rail Trail connects with several cabin rental areas. At DB Adventures, cabins provide access to river floats and hiking. "A fantastic hidden gem next to the picturesque pine creek. Perfect for a river float on your tube or kayak with a nearby shuttle service," writes Missy.

    What campers like

Spacious cabin layouts: Beyond basic accommodations, some facilities offer surprisingly comfortable cabins. "The modern cabins are available for a week at a time in the summer. We paid for the week but knew we could only stay for 5 nights," notes Barbara S. about Hills Creek State Park Campground.

Clean facilities: Visitors consistently mention the cleanliness of cabin and bathroom facilities. At Lyman Run State Park Campground, "Bathrooms are newer with a nice, new system for 'composting' I guess. No odor at all. And nice and clean," shares Peggy S. "Nice hiking trails, beach area by lake, fishing and then the stars!"

Privacy levels: Cabin spacing varies significantly between locations. Canyon Country Campground offers sites that balance privacy with accessibility. "Sites are not very level nor private, but the staff is great and the grounds are walking distance to the canyon. Met some great fellow campers here, biked the river trail, and hiked the state park," explains Pamela H.

    What you should know

Year-round availability: Some cabin accommodations remain open during winter months for visitors seeking off-season experiences. Ole Bull State Park Campground operates year-round with seasonal adjustments to services. "This park is in Potter County in the PA Wilds. The campsites are flat, some in full shade and others out in the open. Electric sites are available with water access to fill tanks but no water hookups," explains Kristen D.

Cell service limitations: Many cabin rental areas have limited or no cellular coverage. At Lyman Run State Park Campground, "No cell service, so you really get to get away from everything," mentions Katie S., highlighting the disconnected nature of these accommodations.

Advance planning: Especially for cabin rentals near popular attractions, early reservations are essential. Pine Creek Vista Campgrounds offers limited cabins that book quickly. "They have games for the kids, a small playground, bingo games for the adults, movie nights, clean outhouse restrooms, and a nice atmosphere," reports Harlee B.

    Tips for camping with families

Pet policies: Family cabin rentals often have specific pet guidelines that vary by location. At Canyon Country Campground, "Very dog friendly with a tower you can walk up to enjoy the view," notes Jen O., though visitors should confirm current pet rules before booking.

Educational programs: Several state parks with cabin rentals offer nature programs for children. Hills Creek State Park Campground provides regular educational activities. "The rangers offer educational programs that are free of charge!" shares Amanda H., noting the additional value for families with children.

Swimming options: For families with children, cabin locations with swimming facilities provide valuable recreation. At Stony Fork Creek Campground, "The pool was nice and the rec center had a lot of activities for kids. The pond offered fishing and pedal boat rentals," reports MJ B., highlighting multiple water recreation options.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection: When booking cabins near Sabinsville, Pennsylvania, location within the campground matters significantly. At Hills Creek State Park Campground, "We weren't impressed with the camping area. There was very little shade in most campsites so we were glad we had a cabin," advises Barbara S.

Seasonal considerations: Cabin camping in fall and spring provides different experiences than peak summer. Ole Bull State Park Campground offers excellent shoulder season cabin options. "We camped here since I was a little kid. Great place for groups and kids. There is a park, water to swim in, fishing, biking and hiking trails," recommends Shee N.

Utilities and hookups: For those seeking more comfort in cabin accommodations, utility availability varies widely. Stony Fork Creek Campground provides full-service cabin options. "The sites are in a long row. Small lake. It looks like they are about 50% seasonal. Horseback riding nearby," describes Jean T.
