    Black Moshannon State Park Campground

    Family fun!

Nice clean and quiet campground. The address online took us to the ranger station. Turn left BEFORE bridge. Couldn’t see sign from the road. The section we were in was “no pets allowed”. My kids loved the beach, swimming was not deep. Beach was big with adjacent playground. Lots of pavilions all over. The area was a little crowded for my liking.

    Pioneer Campground

    Don't rent Cabin 1

Looks cute from the outside but once you get in you are immediately disappointed. The cabin had a smell, a wrinkly floor, and was very dark. There is a lack of any shelf or cabinets and only minimal hooks to put your things. Even the TV was on the dining table and you can't use the remote from the bed either. We used the table benches and top of fireplace to place our stuff. We also had no AC. The signs on the wall said make sure you turn off the AC, but no AC. Our friends stayed in cabin 6 and it was so cute, bright, and had AC. Our other friend stayed in 2 and it was much better than ours as well. 3 was better too.

In addition they would not honor a AAA discount due to already paying, what?!

    Knoebels Campground

Clean, quiet, inexpensive, fun place to camp!

Knoebels campground is situated next to Knoebels amusement park and offers sites for tent campers and RVs, as well as cabins.

There is electricity at every site but not water. There are fill stations throughout the campgrounds. Most sites are level and shaded. There are nice sturdy wooden platforms for tent campers.

The bath houses are clean and well maintained. There are outside sinks with mirrors, laundry facilities, shower stalls, and toilet stalls. Or if you prefer there are also traditional bathrooms with showers.

Quiet hours are enforced between 10p and 8a.

Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. Wood is available by the bucket near the check in building. Sites are inexpensive and are all a short walk, or free shuttle ride, to the park!.

    Little Mexico Campground

    Friendly Staff

Little Mexico is a nice campground with lots of activities in the summer, situated on Penn’s Creek about 15 minutes from Lewisburg, PA. We camped there twice this summer and had enjoyable visits. The road leading to the campground is narrow and winding, but we didn’t experience any trouble. Check in was a breeze as all the paperwork and payment were taken care of prior to arrival and all we needed to do was pick up our gate pass, map and head to the site. The employees in the front office are amazing and some of the friendliest you will meet. The other employees we interacted with during our stays were equally as friendly and helpful!

Overall the sites are good sized, level and the majority have full hook-ups. The water pressure is good, electric stable, and good cable TV connections. There is no internet at the sites and only a moderate cell phone signal. Most of the transient sites are right next to each other with little barriers between. Tubs of wood can be delivered to the site and this good quality firewood! For$10 a load, stock up because it burns well with little obnoxious smoke.

There are various activities each weekend during the summer, a huge pool, playground, mini-golf, and of course Penn’s Creek to float. The only negative would be some of the seasonal sites do not feel the quiet hour times apply to them. Overall, Little Mexico is a nice campground in a beautiful location, with great people operating it!

Russell P Letterman Campground — Bald Eagle State Park

    Relaxing week great sites

Stayed in the modern camping section. Easy access to camp ground. The check in process was just to drive to the site and set up which was different but very easy. The sites are private on the sides with some green space to play on. Lots of extra places to park extra cars or bring a second vehicle with a boat.

The kids had fun riding the bikes around the loop and taking the short cuts cut in around the loop. We had fun walking to the foot bridge to go fishing.

The camping area was very quite both mornings and evenings. We saw the park rangers drive through multiple times per day.

The bathrooms were clean. There are no shelfs in the showers (except for a bar of soap) but they had hooks to hang your clothes.

The racoons were a fun surprise on our last night! We left the grease trap from the Blackstone out and the they found it. We did not see any bears though we heard they are there.

We had smoke from Canadian forest fires so haze in the pictures is smoke not haze or rainy days! The walking trails are great. You can see the largest white swamp oak in Pennsylvania!

Definitely check out Penns Cave too.

    Pettecote Junction Campground

    Soul Cleansing

Petticoat Junction campground is nestled in the PA Grand Canyon with Pine Creek on one side and the Rails to Trails on the other of the campground. This ideal location provides a nice tranquil environment with opportunities for active adventures. It had been several years since our last stay at PJC, but the new owners have done amazing improvements and upgrades to many areas of the campground which are greatly appreciated. Everyone we interacted with(owners/employees) were friendly and gave us the feeling that they were glad we chose to stay with them.

There are a variety of camping options from season sites, primitive sites, cabins, glamping tents, and RV hook-ups for water and electric(along the creek). We stated in one of the water/electric hook-up sites along the creek, which was wonderful. Very flat and larger than average in size, which was nice not being on top of your neighbor. Water pressure was very good and the WIFI signal was better than many campgrounds we have stayed.

The location of PJC is perfect for fishing, floating/kayaking, and biking/hiking the rails to trail. There are many nearby hikes throughout the canyon for the more adventures travelers. The office has biking/tubing/boating rentals for its campers. Additionally the firewood for sale is priced well and is very good quality, not the cheap smoky pine found in most places. If you need a break from civilization to reset and relax, I highly recommend PJC!

    Paradise Stream Family Campground

Most well kept campground I’ve ever visited.

Paradise stream is a beautiful campground. They go above and beyond to keep the grounds immaculate. The fire pits are even top notch. There are many activities including boating on the lake, fishing, pedal carts, shuffle board, mini golf and swimming. The staff is very friendly and goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. Planning another visit this year.

Guide to Loganton

Glamping near Loganton, Pennsylvania offers elevated outdoor experiences in a heavily wooded region of the Allegheny Plateau. Located in Clinton County with elevations ranging from 500 to 2,300 feet, the area experiences distinct seasons with warm summers and cold winters. Most glamping sites feature electrical hookups and enhanced comfort features compared to traditional camping, though access roads can be narrow and winding.

What to do

Fishing in Penn's Creek: At Poe Paddy State Park, visitors can enjoy excellent creek fishing. "I grew up camping here and it's a great place to stay! Penn's Creek runs beside it...it's a lot of fun to float the creek. Great fishing too!" notes Rebecca G.

Lake activities: Foster memorable water experiences at the 1,730-acre lake within Bald Eagle State Park. "We loved it here! Very beautiful, nice hiking trails and a beautiful lake. Clean grounds and bath houses," shares Chris G. The lake supports motorized boating, kayaking, and swimming during warmer months.

Hiking through state forests: Explore numerous trails through dense woodland areas. "The campground is in the middle of the dense Bald Eagle State Forest with lots of hiking opportunities," says Joanna H. Many trails connect camping areas with natural landmarks and offer wildlife viewing opportunities.

Wildlife viewing: Watch for local fauna including eagles, deer, and smaller woodland creatures. "We love this park and usually rent a boat and swim and watch the eagles all day. One of the best experiences ever," reports Sara W. from Russell P Letterman Campground.

What campers like

Private wooded sites: Many glamping locations offer secluded settings among trees. "The sites are private on the sides with some green space to play on. Lots of extra places to park extra cars or bring a second vehicle with a boat," explains Erik E. Sites typically feature fire rings and picnic tables.

Creek access for cooling off: Several campgrounds provide direct water access. "We had site 108 and had a site path right to the creek. I wouldn't recommend big campers as most of the spots would be a pain to back into. But if you're looking for a quiet campground in the woods, this is it!" remarks Jolene J. about Poe Paddy State Park.

Minimal light pollution: The remote setting creates optimal stargazing conditions after sunset. "The campsites were nice and clean. The lake was beautiful but I loved the Nature Inn which is where I had my morning coffee overlooking the lake," mentions Ricki F., highlighting the balance of comfort and nature.

Quiet atmosphere: Most glamping locations maintain peaceful environments. "Very nice quiet campground. Level spots. Large lake to boat and kayak. Beautiful scenery," notes Shirley M. Most sites enforce quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

What you should know

Limited cell service: Many glamping sites have poor or non-existent mobile coverage. "There is NO cell service and park rangers do 'rounds' but aren't stationed at the site. There are a couple of water pumps, several well-maintained pit toilets, and an emergency phone," cautions Joanna H.

Weather preparedness: Mountain elevations can create temperature fluctuations. "Stopped over on my cross country drive and pitched a tent before a thunderstorm -- dicey! Did not die and the facilities were solid," shares Dan X., emphasizing the need for proper equipment.

Facilities vary widely: Bathroom and shower options differ between locations. "Bathrooms are clean. There are no shelfs in the showers (except for a bar of soap) but they had hooks to hang your clothes," explains Erik E. Some properties like Happy Acres Resort offer year-round accommodations.

Wildlife awareness: Local fauna includes bears and raccoons. "The raccoons were a fun surprise on our last night! We left the grease trap from the Blackstone out and they found it. We did not see any bears though we heard they are there," notes Erik E.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Select locations with specific family features. "Jellystone Park has a ton of activities for kids, fishing ponds, and plenty of spark to keep this place around for years to come!" reports Brittany V. about Jellystone Park Camp-Resort at Milton. Many sites offer playgrounds and organized activities.

Biking opportunities: Several campgrounds feature safe cycling areas. "The kids had fun riding the bikes around the loop and taking the short cuts cut in around the loop. We had fun walking to the foot bridge to go fishing," shares Erik E.

Educational programs: Check for ranger-led activities. "We discovered one of the evening talks about the eagles nesting in the park and the ranger set up binoculars for us to try and see the nest," explains Cheryl W.

Cabin options for less experienced campers: For families new to outdoor experiences, cabin rentals provide comfort. "My family and I stayed here one night during a motorcycle trip. We rented 1 of the cabins they have on the property and it was great all of us fit comfortably we were able to have a campfire out front and sit at a picnic table," shares Danielle W.

Tips from RVers

Site selection considerations: Research specific sites before booking. "Definitely look at pictures of your site before reserving. The distance between spots was good. Roads were a little narrow but manageable," advises Greg J. Some locations can accommodate larger rigs, but access roads may present challenges.

Hookup variations: Verify what connections are available. "I'm not sure about other sites, but we did not have a water hookup, just a spigot we could fill from. The dump station worked fine and was clean. Power pole was in rough shape but worked," notes Greg J. about Little Mexico Campground.

Level sites: Most RV-friendly locations offer relatively flat parking. "The park has basic, water & electric as well as a few full hookup up sites. The sites are very spacious with a picnic table and fire rings and are easy to back into even with a rig as big as ours," explains Cheryl W.

Seasonal considerations: Plan according to weather patterns and availability. "We stayed at Bald Eagle several times and have enjoyed our stay... The views are spectacular in the fall with beautiful foliage!" shares Cheryl W.
