Lake City, Pennsylvania sits along the southern shore of Lake Erie, offering campers access to both lakefront and inland camping experiences. Uncle Johns Elk Creek Campground provides tent, RV, and cabin accommodations within Lake City proper, while nearby options include Eriez Campground with its mid-April to mid-October season. The surrounding Erie County area features additional established campgrounds like Sara's Campground, which operates from April through October with direct beach access, and Lampe Marina Campground, known for its paved sites and proximity to Lake Erie. Virginia's Beach Campground in North Springfield and Folly's End Campground in Girard round out the local options, all within a 20-minute drive of Lake City.

Most campgrounds in the Lake Erie region operate seasonally from spring through fall, with few year-round options available. Reservations are strongly recommended during summer months when lakefront sites fill quickly. As one camper noted, "The location is awesome as it is right across the road from the beach." Lake Erie's weather can be unpredictable, with strong winds common along the shoreline. Sites near the water tend to be more exposed with less privacy but offer better views and cooling breezes. Inland sites typically provide more tree cover and protection from elements. Cell service varies throughout the area, with some campgrounds reporting spotty coverage for certain carriers.

Waterfront access represents the primary draw for many campers visiting the Lake City area. Fishing opportunities abound, with multiple piers and boat launches available. Bike trails connect many campgrounds to beaches and nearby attractions, with one reviewer noting, "There is a bike trail that loops Presque Isle that starts in front of Sara's." Campground amenities typically include electric hookups, water, showers, and dump stations for RVs. Privacy between sites varies considerably, with some campgrounds offering spacious, well-separated sites while others place units closer together. Families particularly appreciate the proximity to Presque Isle State Park's beaches and attractions, though the park itself does not permit camping.

      Shenango Recreation Area Campground

      Love this place!

I've been coming here since I was born. I'm always drawn back to my roots. It's a great family campground with sites and hookups for everyone. No store, but Hermitage and Transfers PA are both 3 to 5 minutes away for whatever you need. Firewood is 20 dollars per tub but you get a ton of good dry wood. If your into RTT Like me check out old duck loop or new duck loop for some awesome sights. Playgrounds for the kids. Ranger activites on the weekends. Well policed and patrolled. Just a great place and beautiful lake! Fishing is top notch as well. Clean bathrooms and showers. Ice is available at check in, firewood at host site 55.

      Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA Holiday

      Another job done

First time at a koa. Wasn’t a bad experience but I was there from march thru December instead of getting the season rate they charged me the monthly rate it cost me $3000 extra and I was treated like a seasonal camper had to mow my own grass and take out my own trash so I will not be staying at another koa

      Two Mile Run County Park

      Beautiful Forrested Camping

What a hidden gem this place is! Located deep in a county park in the forested rolling hills of PA. Every site is huge and mostly private. Combination of paved main roads and gravel dirt camp loops. Most of the sites look relatively flat. The whole park is spotless clean, no trash anywhere! Bathrooms and showers are clean and maintained regularly. There is no camp store! Stock up before arrival. Firewood and ice. Can be outside the park at a bait shop and local farm about 2 miles away. Or just stop in Oil City first. You can grab a site online .....site unseen and be happy on arrival. Definitely on my must return list. Happy camping!

Jamestown Campground — Pymatuning State Park

      Awesome place to camp

Pymatuning Lake Campground is a huge 700 site family oriented campground. Sites are large and clean and your not packed in. Bathrooms and showers are OK but they are clean. Best part of being here is the awesome fishing. Know for huge black crappie, walleye, and small and big mouth bass. This is the place to go fishing.

      Chautauqua Gorge State Forest Campground

      Great Free spot

I would 100% stay here again. Hubby & i enjoyed it and was not busy at all. A family friendly place. I have a 16 ft long travel trailer and was great but i would not recommend anything bigger. There’s only 2 spots for travel trailers, camper van’s and the rest of the 6 spots are for tents. First come first serve. You can only stay here 3 nights max

Wolfkiel Run Shelters — Oil Creek State Park

Do not camp in oil Creek State Park you are in danger

I suggest not camping or hiking in oil Creek State Park because there is a wild and crazy guy carrying a badge in a gun out because everybody a bad time and hand out fines like they are welcome gifts. I will never camp again let alone at oil Creek State Park and it has been over 20 years that this officer has ruined everything for me just because he is a little weasel that does not respect or care about anybody he just wants to write tickets and fines when you are trying to have a recreational enjoyable time in the woods do not think that you are okay there are still crazy cops out there trying to ruin everybody's good time!

Virginia's Beach Lakefront Cabins and Camping

      Beautiful campground on Lake Erie

Several shaded, grassy RV campsites face the lake.  There are cabins to rent that are right near the lake.  It's a mix of short-term and long-term/permanent rentals.

A large grassy area for children to play on.  There is a small fishing pond near the office.  A rocky beach and boat dock w/launch ramp.  A fire ring for nighttime bonfires.  Owners are friendly and accommodating.

I've stayed there the past two years, am going back this year, and will be going back as long as I'm able to travel from California to Pennsylvania.  Sunsets over the lake rival those over the Pacific Ocean.  I love the place!
