Ochoco NF-Ochoco West - Prineville Area

    Great Place

This is a great place.  The cabin is vintage and takes you back in time.  It was clean and comfortable.  The out house was very clean.  There is no water so you need to bring your own.  The Fridge and stove worked really well, we did have issues trying to get the lights to work.  But we had lanterns so it was not a problem.  We were visited by some cattle that were grazing near by.  Bring your own cleaning supplies and bedding.  The beds are full size with trundles under neath, there are two of them.  There is a small table with chairs in the kitchen.  There  is a picnic table and fire ring outside as well.

    Sunny Valley Campground

    Very nice!

We were here for a quick overnight in our 24' travel trailer. The place is very nice with tent, cabin, and RV sites. Our site was partial HU but they do have full HU sites. Bathrooms and showers were clean. It's close to I-5 bit the road noise was not bad and a chorus of frogs throughout the evening distracts from it. We were in spot 67 which was spacious and offered a great deal of privacy. Picnic table and fire pit on site. The nearby covered bridge is neat to see.

Valley of the Rogue State Park Campground

Brilliant blue waters in an intrepid forest.

This beautiful camp ground is a must! They have Cabins and camp sites available. I would advise reserving far in advance. The park and sites are well taken care of and a wonderful environment for a peaceful stay with hot shower facilities and restrooms.

Family and pet friendly, you will have direct river access to The Rogue River and its brilliant blue waters. Located down it's own little valley, this gives it the seclusion you are looking for and the access to town, if needed, only about 20 minutes away.

This camp ground is well worth any drive you may have to take to get there. Gorgeous!

Rainbow Bay at Lake of the Woods

    Great spot for the family!

My entire family has stayed here twice for family reunions and it has been a great spot for the entire family! They have cabins (tiny houses) for rent as well as spots for RVs! The lake is absolutely stunning and a great size for boating and fishing. The tiny cabins do have some critters living in them but as long as you don’t leave food on the counters you should be okay!

Valley of the Rogue State Park Campground

Great campground for an overnight heading north or south in southern Oregon

    Willow lake

Wilderness Camping with the basics - A hidden Gem

What a fantastic lake! Secluded in the mountain back country of the Southern Oregon area - not far from Medford / Grants Pass / Siskiyou National Forest / Crater Lake

Great boating lake for water sports, good fishing, excellent hiking and great campsites and in nearby campgrounds not listed on The Dyrt yet, you can get some really secluded sites that are just beautiful... but do not expect more than an outhouse and a spigot, a picnic table (maybe a bear box?) and fire-ring- which to me is PHENOMENAL camping. Fresh water, a bathroom and nature. Works!

The Willow Lake County Park offers more amenities though and great wilderness. Its a beautiful little gem and gets amazing weather- from warm and sunny to random rainy thunderstorms that do not last long. Truly God-sent sunsets and sunrises.

Great place to make some wonderful memories with streams, creeks, the lake, the forested areas, trails, canyons, fishing, hiking, canoeing and more.

Valley of the Rogue State Park Campground

    Trying the yurt thing 💜

We had a relaxing time during our stay at the campground the yurt was warm and cozy, and has a beautiful skylight that you can open if you so choose. You will need to bring your own bedding as it’s only provides you with the furniture there’s electricity as well, but no other amenities in the yurt. The facilities were clean and easily accessible. We would definitely stay here again

Guide to Phoenix

Cabin rentals near Phoenix, Oregon typically operate from spring through late fall, with most facilities closing during winter months except for Riverpark RV Resort. Situated in the Rogue Valley at approximately 1,600 feet elevation, this area experiences hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Winter cabin options are limited to year-round facilities in Grants Pass and Central Point.

What to do

Fishing access: Lake of the Woods Resort offers cabin renters prime fishing opportunities. "This place has a dock and water access for guests. Fishing is great but crowded during peak weekends," notes a frequent visitor.

Hot springs soaking: Jackson Wellsprings provides mineral pool access with cabin stays. "An amazing peaceful place to be just outside of Ashland. Developed hot pool for day use, with a discount if you are staying there overnight. Sauna and steam room available," writes Michelle H.

Riverside recreation: Riverpark RV Resort features cabins with Rogue River access. "25 sites are right on the Rogue River. We are definitely the best park in Grants Pass," states a reviewer who enjoyed river activities directly from their accommodation.

What campers like

Mineral water facilities: Jackson Wellsprings earns praise for its therapeutic waters. "Historic mineral water soaking facilities onsite appear to be clean; note that they, and the restrooms, have the sulphur odor normally associated with natural springs," mentions Coral C.

Seasonal entertainment: "This place has a dock and music on weekends during the summer months. The restaurant serves good food with reasonable prices," reports a Lake of the Woods Resort guest.

Clean bathrooms: Valley of the Rogue State Park Campground maintains quality facilities. "Clean hot showers were super appreciated. Our dogs enjoyed playing in the grass here," notes Jessica C.

What you should know

Highway proximity: Valley of the Rogue State Park sits directly alongside Interstate 5. "The park is near a highway, so if you're the camper who wants to sit outside your camper and read a good book to the sounds of nature, this might not be great," explains Charlotte L.

Mineral water odor: Jackson Wellsprings has natural sulfur smells. "The drinking water and shower water smell like sulfur which is a bit nauseating," reports Alicia F.

Lake water levels: Howard Prairie Lake Resort experiences seasonal drawdowns. "Has always been one of my favorite mountain lakes, but if you're looking for recreational fun, pass. They drain the lake for irrigation of lower fields and lakes. This causes muddy shores and sad views," warns Shawn C.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly options: Medford-Gold Hill KOA provides family amenities. "Small, dry campground. We did get a shady site. Close enough to other attractions. Clean and well maintained," shares Debra G.

Prairie Lake activities: Howard Prairie Lake Resort offers diversions beyond water sports. "We kayaked, rode bikes and got ice cream on our way out. Huge campsite, with access to water," reports Jennifer A.

Swimming alternatives: When water levels are low at Howard Prairie, consider other options. "The lake is empty now (2021) and it's a nice surprise to cross the barren lake bottom to see many different terrains. Would be a nice discovery trip for kids finding lake bottom treasures," suggests Jessica M.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: Medford-Gold Hill KOA requires planning for larger vehicles. "Pull thru sites are short my 35 footer and car just fit. Multiple sites car were sticking in to the road making it a little close pulling out in the morning," cautions Charles S.

Year-round options: Riverpark RV Resort operates throughout winter. "This park is only a couple miles from town yet seems like you're a world away. Plenty of shade too," says Kay C., noting its proximity to services while feeling remote.

Private accommodations: For those seeking quieter cabin camping near Phoenix, Oregon, consider On Sacred Grounds Relaxation Retreat. "Everything was great, RV electrical was perfect (30 and 50 amp available), and loved the scenery and teepee," writes a satisfied guest.
