Reservations are available at Aspen Point, a drive-in campground on the eastern shore of Lake of the Woods in Winema National Forest, with nightly rates running $32 to $140. The season runs May 1 through October 1, and sites accommodate rigs up to 120 feet. A dump station is on-site, though individual sites have no hookups, no electrical connections, and no water at the pad itself. Drinking water is available somewhere in the campground, though at least one recent visitor found the setup unclear.
Sites sit in a forested setting with direct lake access, which is the main draw for most campers. Fishing and swimming are the primary activities on the water. The campground sits close to a lodge and cabins, and on weekends, live music has been reported there. Mule deer have been spotted in the area. Campers note the sites are visible to one another with limited ground cover between them, and as Jennifer M. puts it, "your quiet might depend on luck of who you're situated with." The area also gives access to multiple hiking trails.
Facilities include toilets, picnic tables, and firewood for purchase. Pets are allowed. The campground hosts families and groups, including on weekday evenings, so expect company. Those who prefer more spacing between sites and denser old-growth canopy may want to consider Sunset Campground at Lake of the Woods, about a mile south, or Rainbow Bay just southeast of Aspen Point.
