Bastendorff Beach Park

I noticed right off the bat that the campsite was very big and very nice. There is a spot for tents, rvs and there is a few cabins that I could see. I did not see any yurts. There is a very clean good sized bathroom with flushing toilets. And a shower room one for men one for women by the bathrooms. There is a nice playground for the kids, lots of kids riding their bikes and scooters around here so be careful with driving. Most of the parents let their kids just ride their bike around without watching them and a couple of kids came up on my blindside, thankfully my husband spotted them. There is a nice lookout spot with bench’s to view the beach. There is a big gazebo to possibly have parties etc with lots of tables and bench’s. This place is big but walkable. And it is dog friendly!

I stayed at bastendorff for a night during a solo road trip down the Oregon coast. The sites are packed in super tight, and at least the one I was staying in had a 3 foot tall bush serving as the only privacy barrier between myself and my neighbors who were about 5 feet away from me on either side. I can see how this place would be awesome for families with kids, but was a bad match for the solo getaway I was looking for.

Site 40 was excellent! A berm of at least 10 ft surrounds. Big part of the site. Firewood delivered to site :) Brand new hot free showers close to the site. There is a day area open to the public overlooking the beach so lots of kid noise during the day but far off from our site. Beach is Ez access (maybe 1/4 walk or drive) Stayed 2 nights. Will def return!

Beautiful campground, walking distance to the beach Green everywhere plenty of room for everyone, tranquil and peaceful privacy between rv spots.

Staff super nice and accommodating. Lots of trees. Most sites have a private feel. Close to beach. Very nice day use area with awesome view of ocean. Clean. Near Charleston and a nice fish market and other amenities.

The best experience for relaxing and recentering!!! Beach at your fingertips! Recommend a little work on shower area but still very doable! I will be back!

Easy reservation system, had to call a couple times for questions, and staff extremely helpful and friendly. Received an email about 2 weeks before our departure to the RV site that said they had to move our site due to a long term rental that came in. Little dissapointed as we wanted a spot w/more space between sites. But we were just passing thru staying only 1 night, so not a deal breaker.

New park with beautiful landscape and ample space in sites. Would have given a 5 star rating if they did not have a $25 dump fee on top of rate. Did not use.

Well laid out park. Sites aren't too close to each other. Great views of the ocean.

Clean facilities – showers, cleaning stations, sinks, and flushable bathrooms. Campsites are crammed together, minimal privacy. Need to walk down a steep fairly busy road to get to the beach.

Nicely separated sites for RV's and tents. Electric and water with separate dump station. Cabins available. Reservations needed ahead in summer. Plan ahead. Beach located down below for long walk but most people drive down and park and walk. Great dog beach. Near Sunset, Cape Arago, Shore Acres. Great seafood to cook at camp at Chucks in Charleston or grab z Fresh Bay Shrimp cocktail.

If it is foggy, you will hear the horns all night and all day. We were able to sleep through it.

It is a tightly packed campground. Don’t expect a lot of personal space.

The campground is in a nice secluded location with easy access to the beach. The sites are nice, separated but not very private. The amenities are basic. Restrooms and showers are dated and need updated.

This is a reservations only campground. Beyond that (which is see as a negative), it is a very nice little campground. Sites are a bit tight, but some have a little shrubbery separating them to make you think you have some semblance of privacy. Clean bathhouses, great little park area out front with a playground and rentable pavilion (with sinks!!), and the beach is just a short walk down the road. You will hear the fog horn all he time but it’s not really loud or distracting. Kinda quaint. Be sure to have a tide chart for the beach!

I booked this campground and site based on photos on another camping website. The photos showed a fairly private site. Many trees have since been removed and shrubs trimmed quite low, sites are fairly close together, offering little to no "privacy". The campground is very clean and of course being on the Oregon coast, it is beautiful there. The RV sites are paved, however the site we were in the pad was quite narrow, allowing only 1 foot of space before you step off the edge. The site was also poorly designed as it flooded completely one of the nights we were there. The upper loop appears to have nicer sites. The campground is dog friendly which is nice, but the campground host had a small dog that yapped constantly.

Very nice campground close to the coast. Sits on a cliff, so it’s a bit of a walk down the main road, down/up a hill. Worth it! Sound of the ocean is magical. Spots are close but trees provide privacy. Very dog-friendly place. Our spot has a lot of room for outside seating and cooking.

A great local place

I can imagine that if you have an RV this campground would be an absolute gem. Nice sites, some tucked away into the hillside a bit to offer a little privacy. Others are far more open, but still with trees around. Very clean restroom. Lovely host. Gorgeous views from the bluff overlooking the bay. They have a grassy open area and a well equipped pavilion for group gatherings.

Love every part of this beach area! And the hidden Cave is extra super cool!

A great size for a park overlooking the ocean.  Not a ton of privacy between sites, but there's a smaller number compared to some of the huge coast campgrounds.  It's cozy therefore, and certainly set off the highway so as really to be ensconced in ocean auras.  You can view the water from a hundred yards up a cliff, or hike down and explore.  Your viewing choices alternate between rich green trees or the Pacific.

Great jumping off point for cape arago & sunset bay!

We really enjoyed our stay here at Bastendorff beach. North bend is near by and it’s just a beautiful place in Oregon right on the coats. Loved watching the fog roll in and exploring the tide pools.

This campground seems better for RVs and cans rather than tent camping. Nice facility with playground, bathrooms, lots of amenities. Views of the beach/ocean from the playground area. There is free dispersed camping just down the road at Bastendorf beach under a small grove of trees, vault toilets only.

We only spent a night here. But it was fantastic. We met some other overlanders that have been living in there rig long term had dinner and breakfast with them. When your camping here theres camping right on the beach..or the road directly on the beach anyways. Theres also camping tucked into these little tree groves..there were signs saying no camping in there but people camped in there anyways. There were also some caves on the ocean to explore a short drive away. That was pretty rad.
