Canton Lake offers several RV accommodations with Big Bend Park providing 30-amp and 50-amp electrical hookups at lakefront sites with water access. Located in Canton, Oklahoma, Big Bend operates seasonally from April through October with most sites featuring covered picnic tables and lake views. The park includes back-in spots arranged at angles for privacy on different elevation levels, accommodating larger vehicles. Territory Route 66 RV Park & Campgrounds in Hinton provides 18 full-hookup sites including 50-amp service, while Wanderlust Crossings RV Park features spacious sites with sewer, water, and electrical connections. "This is a beautiful area with plenty to offer. The signage getting to the park was great but within the park not so much. Be careful of low hanging branches if you have a taller RV."

Roads throughout the region are generally well-maintained, though some campgrounds require advance reservations during peak seasons. Big Bend Park becomes particularly busy on summer weekends, with many campers recommending online reservations. A sanitary dump station is available at the park entrance for guests without full-hookup sites. During winter months, Big Bend offers free camping with no amenities. According to one visitor, "Very nice campground with most sites on or overlooking the water. We were in site A10 which was a nice site overlooking the lake with shade in evening, but sunny most of the day." Pets are permitted at most area RV parks, with Territory Route 66 and Wanderlust both offering pet-friendly accommodations. Cell service varies by location, with stronger signals typically available near Interstate 40 campgrounds.

    El Reno West KOA

Easy access- ridiculously close to neighbors

We were in Site# 66. We had Full hook- up with a paved pull-through.
We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep.

The site was easy to level. Our site was not shaded with limited trees. In eight years of RV-ing, we’ve never had such little space between us and our neighbors. We literally walk out our door into their sewer. (See pictures) My husband can touch both RVs with his arms outstretched.

The lot did not come with a concrete patio, picnic table, or a fire ring. Some lots had a picnic table. We did not request one since we’d be eating at our neighbor’s sewer.

It is an easy access to the campground from highway -(right off the highway).

There is free WiFi. They offer Cable TV and there are many local channels).

They do not sell wood here.

They do not provide garbage service at your site but there are many barrel drum trash cans that can be accessed.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. They do not provide golf cart rentals. There is really not a need to have a Golf cart because it is a smaller campground.

They do have a Swimming pool (not heated & freezing). They have a fishing Lake on property (it is hidden behind some cabins so you could stay here & never know the lake is here). There are two Buffalo that are owned by the owners of the restaurant and trading post above the KOA (who also own the KOA).

There is a Playground and jumping pad for kids. They have a basic general store.

There is not a snack bar/restaurant on site but there is a restaurant at the top of the hill.

The streets are paved and good for riding bikes. There is not really anywhere to ride bikes outside of campground.

This is a RV park but also have many cabins for rent and tent areas.

They have 2 shower houses. The shower house has the typical stalls. These are kept very clean.

There is a laundry facility. It is a cash only facility. You’ll need to get change in the main office while they are open (no change machine). There are approximately 6 washers and 6 dryers. It is approximately $2 to wash and $2 to dry a load.

They have a fenced in dog park.

Bugs were an issue and bug spray was definitely needed.

There were no trails to hike in the campground.

We’ve noticed that the casinos nearby mainly offer slot machines only (very few have live tables (craps, roulette, blackjack,etc.).

    Wanderlust Crossings RV Park

    Nice quiet spot

Only stayed one night but would have stayed longer. Quiet place with nice landscaping. Concrete level pull thru with full hookups. Picnic table and fire pit at each lot. Has dog park, basketball court, playground and laundry facilities. Cellular good plus free wifi up to 800mb but can upgrade for $5. Cost was $45 a night but offered military discount. Gift shop does not have much but there is a gas station down the road that is easy in/out. Would have given it 5 stars if the nice lady who checked us in didn’t lie to me when I asked if there were vending machines in laundry room as we did not have detergent and she said no. Thank goodness we walked down there anyways.

Territory Route 66 RV Park & Campgrounds

    Great Travel Stop

We stayed here one night while traveling. There are several long term sites, with very nice, well kept RV’s. The short term sites are out in the open and all but one are large pull throughs. Full hookups. Sites are very level. The restrooms and showers are really nice and clean. You have to pay $3 for a shower. There is a washer and dryer for use by guests, and it costs $3 to wash and dry a load. We showered and washed clothes. Very nice. Lots of grassy areas to walk the dogs. This campground is on farm land and in beautiful countryside. It’s very peaceful and relatively quiet considering it’s right on the old Route 66. Just a little traffic noise every now and then. Would definitely stay here again if in the area. There is a casino nearby.

    Water-Zoo Campground

    Excellent

There is not much about this campground online so we sort of were coming in blind. When we got there we were pleasantly surprised. The campground entry point is located in the far back of the parking lot of an indoor water park, The Water Zoo. Only one way in and one way out, which was a plus keeping crime down or keeping people from driving fast through the park. Drive down a paved road through the tree (not too worry) and wow, a little hidden gem. We stayed there two nights during the week. It was quiet, hardly anyone there. The grounds were kept clean and grass was cut short. They even came out and mowed the lawn again before departure. The bathrooms were clean and seperate from one another. Each restroom had a toilet, shower and sink. Ladies, no mirrors. There is a code to get in which I liked because it keeps riff raff out (not that there was any.) There are full hook ups, sewer included on some. We pretty much had the pickins and in our opinion lot 37 was the best pick. Not all sites had fire rings or sewer hook ups, this one did. It was also a pull through site with lots of shade. The grounds are surrounded by trees which gave it a feeling of being in the woods. It had everything we needed, nice slab, nice tables, store within walking distance and an indoor water park that is open year round. For those with horses, this campground is horse friendly. There is a place to house them overnight. Highly recommend this place. We will definitely be going back.

    El Reno West KOA

Pretty lake, great playground, paved roads, Buffalo!

This was a great KOA. Paved roads were great for bike riding, beautiful lake along the back side of the grounds, nice large dog run, clean and plenty of machines in the laundry area, super cool playground with outdoor workout equipment too.

Sites are VERY close together in the larger rig area up front but we’re some nice wooded smaller sites toward the back. And pull through sites were super easy to get into. Plus the kids got a big kick out of the two Buffalo on the grounds!

    Red Rock Canyon Adventure Park

    Gorgeous sites, crappy bathrooms

Awesome surroundings, incredible hikes, broken pool, showers and toilets were very rough but worked well.

Trees at site, a grill, picnic table. 2 shower and bathhouses both far from site. Lovely creek behind us.

Worth it for the hikes, sites, and views. All awesome. Best of all were the endless wildflowers on the ridge hike.

Dump station but water hookups and electric. Sites are close to one another but not cramped.

    Verizon and ATT worked well!

Came for pool, it was out of commission. When I asked about it they gave a half refund, this wa very appreciated! Nice staff too.

    Big Bend Park

    Very Nice

On the west side of the lake. The campground is open to the public and considered private. Gated with well-maintained roads, old-growth trees, landscaping, ample sized back-in sites with asphalt, covered picnic tables with prep area, and grills. Some tent sites with water. Each r.v. site has a spigot and shore power. Some are 50 amp and others are 30 all with 15. Each site has a view of the lake. Playground and public toilets. Boat ramp. Convenience store at corner. Very nice, we will be back.

Guide to Canton Lake

Canton Lake camping offers diverse options beyond the standard RV experience. Located in northwestern Oklahoma at an elevation of 1,615 feet, the lake covers approximately 7,900 surface acres with camping areas primarily on the western shore. Winter campers should note the seasonal operation of most facilities, with temperatures regularly dropping below freezing between November and March.

What to do

Disc golf course: Big Bend Park features a challenging disc golf course adjacent to the campground. "The park has a very nice, challenging disc golf course beside the campground," notes a Big Bend Park visitor.

Spring exploration: Roman Nose State Park offers unique geological features to explore. "We love to go wade in the springs. Nice and refreshing. Camping is quiet and fun," shares a camper at Roman Nose State Park.

Route 66 tourism: The historic highway runs near several campgrounds. "Within 5 miles of restaurants, laundromat, groceries, fuel, historic sites, tourist attractions, seasonal splash park and paved walking trail," mentions a Territory Route 66 reviewer.

What campers like

Lakefront positioning: Sites at different elevation levels provide privacy while maintaining views. "Since sites are on different levels, most everyone has a good view of the lake. Sites are not too close and are at an angle, which makes it more private," explains a Big Bend visitor.

Covered picnic areas: Many sites feature practical shade structures. "The picnic tables were all covered," notes a Big Bend camper, making outdoor meals more comfortable regardless of weather.

Winter camping deals: Seasonal price variations make off-season stays affordable. "A wonderful campground that is free in the winter with no amenities available at that time," shares a Big Bend Park camper who stayed in February.

What you should know

Site availability changes seasonally: Summer weekends require advance planning. "We were here on a Saturday night in mid-August and the campground was only partially full," reports a Big Bend visitor, but this varies by season.

Bathhouse proximity: Facilities may be distant from some sites. "We didn't use the bathhouse because it was so far from our site," notes a camper at Big Bend Park.

Weather considerations: The region experiences extreme temperature shifts. "The signage getting to the park was great but within the park not so much. Know where your going before hand if you can," advises a Roman Nose State Park visitor.

Tips for camping with families

Hidden gems: Some parks offer unexpected amenities. "Miniature golf, paddle boats, hiking trails, golf course and pool. There is a little store and restaurant in the park. You can even rent a teepee for the night," explains a Roman Nose visitor.

Playground access: Multiple rv parks Canton Lake visitors mention child-friendly facilities. "Gated with well-maintained roads, old-growth trees, landscaping, ample sized back-in sites with asphalt, covered picnic tables with prep area, and grills... Playground and public toilets," notes a visitor to Big Bend Park.

Indoor options nearby: Alternatives exist for inclement weather. "Roman Nose is a popular State Park with many activities to keep you entertained & beautiful scenery," mentions a reviewer, noting indoor facilities at the park lodge.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: Choose sites based on shade needs. "We were in site A10 which was a nice site overlooking the lake with shade in evening, but sunny most of the day," shares a Wanderlust Crossings RV Park guest.

Clean facilities priority: Several RV parks near Canton Lake earn praise for cleanliness. "Sites are concrete and very roomy. A real jewel at a very reasonable price," notes a Wanderlust Crossings visitor.

Low clearance awareness: Tree branches can be problematic. "Be careful of low hanging branches if you have a taller RV," cautions a visitor about certain rv parks Canton Lake areas.

Dump station location: Plan ahead for sanitation needs. "Dump site on outside of facility," mentions a Big Bend Park visitor, highlighting the need to factor this into arrival and departure logistics.
