Best RV Parks & Resorts near St. Henry, OH

Several RV parks surround St. Henry in western Ohio, with most offering electric hookups and varying levels of amenities. Poor Farmer's Campground in Fletcher provides spacious pull-through RV pads with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections, along with amenities like showers, toilets, and a camp store. "Very nice field rv camping. Well maintained and clean. The staff were very pleasant and curious and very helpful," noted one visitor about Poor Farmer's. Grand Lake St. Marys State Park, slightly northwest of St. Henry, features paved RV sites with lake views and electric service, though the campground layout resembles a parking lot in some sections. Wildcat Woods Campgrounds in Greenville offers both 30-amp and 50-amp electric service for RVs, with seasonal availability year-round.

Full-hookup sites are limited in the immediate St. Henry area, with most parks offering electric-only or electric and water connections. Grand Lake St. Marys provides a dump station for RVs without sewer hookups at individual sites. Several reviewers mentioned water quality concerns at Grand Lake, noting swimming advisories due to algae blooms, though this doesn't affect RV camping functionality. Cellular coverage is generally strong throughout the region. Most campgrounds are pet-friendly, though site spacing varies considerably between parks. Natural Springs Resort, located southeast near New Paris, provides big-rig friendly sites with full hookups for those willing to drive slightly farther. Reservations are recommended during summer weekends, particularly at state park facilities where sites fill quickly.

    Blue Water Campground

    Our stay at bluewater

The staff is extremely friendly, and try to accomadate with anything you could need. The campesites are fairly large with gravel pads. They offer water and electric hook-up for 30&50 amps. There is not a sewer hook up but they do offer a weekly pump out for a small fee and a dump station on the way out. The pool, ponds, playground and pavillion are all within walking distance from almost any site.

    Kiser Lake State Park Campground

    Quiet Park

This park is know for the lake that is kayak and canoe friendly since it doesn’t allow any kind of boat with a motor. It also features a beach , 2 playgrounds and several hiking trails. Just be careful if you hike with dogs since some trails intersect with a nature preserve which doesn’t allow pets.

The campground itself has 20 electric sites , 56 primitive sites and 4 camper cabins. All the electric sites are pull through and all sites have a fire pit but only the electric sites come with picnic tables.

Due to off season and COVID the camp store is closed and there is no camper host or park office staff around.

We did notice lots of downed trees on the poorly marked hiking trails. Some trails just started but no maps were around and no trails were blazed. It was hard to tell where we were headed or how long a trail was. I tried using the new Detour app and it wasn’t very accurate for this park.

We did have good Verizon cell coverage.

    Archway Campground

    Quaint Stop Over

Owner is a kind old man. Escorted us to our site and helped us pull in. 30 and 50 amp hook ups available. No sewer hookups but dump station onsite. Mostly pull through sites with lots of room between campers. Great location, right off I-70. Lowes, Walmart, Menards, and Dollar General very close by. Almost every restaurant or food type that you can think of close by. Fishing pond onsite that also allows swimming. Restrooms/showers very basic and dated. 5 stars for what it is. Not fancy, 5 stars for what it is. Family owned, no frills campground. Relaxing mom and pop campground with owners that go the extra mile to accommodate guests.

    Summit Lake State Park Campground

Nice state park with several trails around a beautiful lake

We stayed before the peak season opened up.  Potable water was available at the entrance but was not on yet in the campground itself.   The sites are well spaced out with a few pull through sites and many back ins.

Our site was a pull through and, while level left to right, required a good bit of leveling front to back.

Trails around the lake were nice with many opportunities for scenic photographs, etc.

There are not a lot of things to see or do in the area but we did visit the Wilbur Wright Birthplace as well as local community restaurants and grocery stores within about a 20 minute drive.

    Dayton KOA Holiday

    Very clean and shady

The campsites are shaded and pretty level. I am using a pull through and it is long enough for my RV and 24’ trailer. There is a very nice cement slab with a nice fire pit and picnic table.

    Indian Lake State Park Campground

    Nice place but crowded area

This was our last camping trip of the year and it was cold. The campground was nearly empty so that was nice but the surrounding area was very crowded. There was nearly no area on the lake that didn’t have houses. The campground was clean and well maintained. There are sites that have access to get out on the water via a small canal. Some sites had good shade, and others had no shade. Overall it was a nice place, but the lake seemed very busy, even in cold weather.

    Indian Lake State Park Campground

    Camping for families with children

This is definitely a campground for families and for those who want lots of company in there experience. There are no wooded areas in the campground so all spaces are open to all the other camper. Some shaded areas but mostly open land. Lots of activities for kids and families and even movies and music on the weekend.full power both 30 and 50 amp at almost all site and strong wifi where I was.lots of things going on up until about 10 pm. Then it quiets down. Nice place for families who want outdoor activities.

Guide to St. Henry

The St. Henry area of western Ohio offers several RV camping options within a 30-mile radius, with campgrounds scattered across the rural landscape. Most sites in this region sit at elevations between 850-950 feet, creating relatively flat camping terrain throughout Mercer and surrounding counties. Seasonal considerations include hot, humid summers with frequent thunderstorms and mild to cold winters that typically close seasonal campgrounds from November through March.

What to do

Swimming and water recreation: Natural Springs Resort features a spring-fed quarry with exceptionally clear water that stays cool even in summer. "The lake is nice and clear, pretty cold (would love to feel it in August or September). Fun to jump into and overall pretty," notes one visitor to Natural Springs Resort.

Fishing spots: Several campgrounds offer accessible fishing opportunities without requiring special permits. At Welcome Woods RV Campgrounds, you can fish at nearby Indian Lake, just a 10-minute drive away. One camper mentioned: "This is a nice little campsite about 10 min from Indian lake beach."

Weekend activities: Poor Farmer's Campground schedules regular weekend events during summer months. A visitor mentioned that "They usually have a lot of activities for the weekends planned," making it a good option for those looking for organized recreation.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Some campgrounds offer roomier sites than others. At Poor Farmer's Campground, visitors appreciate the layout: "Clean family oriented and spacious. Well run facility w good restrooms and showers plus electri hook up per site. Out in farm country so very little light pollution overall."

Kid-friendly features: Natural springs and streams provide natural play areas at some locations. "A stream that runs through the campground is nice for the kids to play in when it's too hot for them on the play ground," reports one camper about Poor Farmer's Campground.

Clean facilities: Dayton KOA Holiday, though farther from St. Henry, maintains well-kept grounds and amenities. "Excellent rural setting. One of the nicer KOAs. Great staff and facilities. Mostly level sites. Grass, trees, and a pond all very well maintained," notes a visitor to Dayton KOA Holiday.

What you should know

Campground management: Some locations have experienced ownership changes affecting quality. "The new owners of Stillwater Beach does not care about the local community nor do they care about family values. They are only interested in lining their own pockets with your hard earned money," warns a reviewer about Stillwater Beach Campground.

Bathroom facilities: Quality varies significantly between properties. At Welcome Woods RV Campgrounds, a camper reports: "The worst part for me were the bathrooms. The bathrooms come in two varieties. One is a outhouse type room it's a concrete 'toilet' with a toilet seat on it that drops into a hole in the ground and the other is a porta potty."

Site spacing: Some RV campgrounds near St. Henry, Ohio pack sites closely together. A visitor to Natural Springs Resort cautions: "If you like your awning to touch your neighbor's camper then this place is for you."

Tips for camping with families

Pool availability: Check pool hours before planning your stay if swimming is important. At Stillwater Beach Campground, one visitor complained: "POOL IS NEVER OPEN WHEN PEOPLE WHO WORK CAN USE IT DURING THE WEEK. WHAT AVERAGE PERSON CAN USE THE POOL FROM 12-5?"

Playground options: Some campgrounds offer better play structures than others. At Natural Springs Resort, a family noted: "Newer playground structure, but for younger kids - no swings."

Unexpected charges: Some advertised amenities may cost extra. Natural Springs visitors mentioned: "Wibit should be included or at least offer 1/2 hour slots," referring to the water play equipment that requires additional fees.

Tips from RVers

Travel connections: For overnight travelers, Love's RV Hookup locations provide convenient stops with basic amenities. A traveler at Love's RV Hookup-Bellefontaine noted: "A little loud at times. Hardee's restaurant is a different option for meals."

Site differences: At Natural Springs Resort, experienced RVers recommend requesting specific areas. "Full service campground. 30, 50 am full hook ups. Water and electric only hook ups, primitive RV and tent sites. Some sites are shaded, most of them seem to be year round rented. Most sites not shaded and small."

Seasonal timing: RV campgrounds around St. Henry, Ohio vary in seasonal operations. Dayton KOA Holiday typically opens April through November, while several smaller private campgrounds operate May through October with limited off-season availability.
