Best RV Parks & Resorts near Limaville, OH

Several RV parks operate year-round in the greater Limaville area, including Evergreen Park RV Resort which offers full hookup sites with water, sewer, and electric connections. Roundup Lake RV Resort in Shalersville/Mantua provides both full hookup and water/electric sites on its lakefront property from May through October, with big-rig friendly pull-through options available. "The sites are close but shady and large enough for trailer and our truck," noted one visitor about Roundup Lake. Berlin RV Park & Campground in Millersburg accommodates large motorhomes from April through December with 50-amp electrical service, while Countryside Campground in Mogadore offers a mix of 30-amp sites from May through October.

Throughout the region, RV dump stations are standard amenities at most parks, though their quality varies considerably. Pets are generally permitted at all locations, with most parks including standard amenities like picnic tables, fire rings, and trash service. Fall camping requires advance planning as many parks operate seasonally and close between late October and early May. Some campgrounds like Scenic Hills RV Park provide electric and water hookups but lack shower and toilet facilities. Sites at certain parks may present leveling challenges, with one camper at Punderson State Park noting they "saw one RV with auto levelers with his tire about foot off the ground" due to uneven terrain. Cell service generally remains reliable throughout the region, though WiFi quality at campgrounds receives mixed reviews.

    Tomlinson Run State Park Campground

    Nice little State Park

Tomlinson Run is a small state park situated in the northern panhandle of West Virginia nestled between eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. Plenty of things to do there including but not limited to…. Mini golf, hiking trails, biking, swimming, fishing, paddle boats, parks for the kids, and of course the camping. The campsites here are mainly gravel pads with the exception being the asphalt handicapped spots (2). Most spots are 30 amp with a few 50 amp (new for 2021). The park also has a few primitive spots available and some yurts and cabins to rent. I have a 38’ fifth wheel and the spots are tight for it (even the couple pull thru). Campground facilities are clean but dated. They state new facilities are coming soon. The campground is at the top of a hill and the spots are wooded and shaded. I would consider the camping to be spaced generously (room to stretch out). They have a small camp store and information available. A breakfast is available during peak season for a small fee. They do have water and a dump station available (free for campers to use).

    Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA Holiday

    Happy Camping

Relax, breath, and camp. Perfect spot.

This Campground is quiet, full of fun, for families or older people. Beautiful area.
Many pull through lots, with patios. 50. 30. Full hookup, (sewer and Electric) back in, pull through, tent sites, cabins, teepees. Swimming pool, private bathrooms and showers. Fishing lake, swimming lake, trails. Children play areas. Basketball, bad mitten/volleyball, Dog wash, dog parks (2), private fenced dog sites. (2)- pull through site. Golf cart rentals, and seasonal sites that are being updated, but all are decorated nicely, and kept up.
KOA is revamping some of this campground. Work in progress, but awesome stay.

    Amish Country Campsites

    Amish campsite

Very small campgrounds literally next to if not part of a corn field extremely cramped back if our camper was 2ft from the camper behind us and 15 ft from the campers left to right. When we left we had to knock on camper doors to ask folks to move their cars so we could pull out of out parking spot. The other campers were very nice lots of local folks they were fun to talk to. The camp site did have clean showers. Hot water. And. Clean restroom facilities. The dump station isn’t the best it is on a hill so dumping ones waste tanks completely could be a challenge The owners were polite but short The sites aren’t the best the electric is only 30 amp. And very dated they did have water hookups at each site. I didn’t take any pictures as there wasn’t anything to see at the campground other than campers packed in like sardines It is close to town and the shops. Everything closed at 5:00 including gas stations As they say any port in a storm. So as a last resort I guess it’s is okay. Just don’t plan to leave after 5:00 pm unless you have a full tank of gas. No ada camp sites. They are pet friendly

    Atwood Lake Park Campground

    Incredible!

The Atwood Lake Campground is a true gem in a beautiful area of eastern Ohio! We’ve visited the Atwood region many times in the past but have never camped - but after this visit we’ll be back for sure. The campground is relatively new, with the campground area being completely revamped beginning in 2017. There are two overnight camping areas with seasonal sites in a separate section; we stayed in “Camp H” which is the newest area. There is a huge bathhouse with two sets of men’s and women’s restrooms and shower facilities along with a very nice laundry area. Adjoining the bathhouse area is a beautiful pavilion and children’s playground - all of which overlooks Atwood Lake. The campsites are nicely spaced though if you’re in the inner loop as we were or even some of the outer ring sites you’ll be looking right into your neighbor’s site. All sites are FHU on level concrete pads and include a metal picnic table and fire ring. If needed there are two very well equipped dump stations if you prefer to use them instead of the sewer connection at your site. Many sites are on cul de sacs directly on the lake with docks and fishing areas adjacent to the campsites. Lots of hiking trails, paved bike paths, a swimming beach and restaurant are in a nearby area. We loved the campground and will return soon!

    Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

    Tomlinson Run State Park Campground

    Very wooded campground

General: 50-site (all but six with electric hookups) campground plus two yurts and three cabins. Two sites are handicap accessible.

Site Quality: The sites have gravel pads (except the handicap-accessible ones which were paved). The sites were completely covered with leaves when we were there which made it challenging to determine where the actual (narrow) pad was. Sites appeared to be level. A fire ring and wooden picnic table complete the site.

Bathhouse: A little dated but clean. Two of the stall doors did not latch properly. Didn't use the shower so cannot comment but there was a sign indicating it took a while for the water to warm up.

Activities/Amenities: There is a small camper store, laundry, and a playground. In season, there is lake swimming and a boat dock. There is a fishing area, mini-golf and disc golf, and several short hiking trails. Unfortunately, since we arrived late afternoon and had to depart early the following day (and were camping off-season), we could not take advantage of any of these things. What we lose in activities, we gain in a quieter camping experience with fewer crowds, which is generally preferable for us!

    West Branch State Park Campground

    Love the Lake!

This state park has a lot to offer with the highlight being a large 2,650-lake that appeals to fishermen, boaters, and swimmers. The park is over 5,000 acres and not only has camping but hiking, volleyball, fishing, playgrounds, picnicking, hunting, horseback riding, and more.

The campground is divided into three loops with nearly 200 sites. Campsites include those with full hook-up (50 amp), electric only (50 amp), and some with no electric. This campground is suitable for everything from large RVs to tents. Sites and roads are paved and each site has a picnic table and fire pit. In loops where there is no water directly at the site, water spigots are scattered throughout. The restroom/bathhouses in our loop were really nice, modern, clean, and had laundry facilities which is a real plus at a state park campground. Campsites can be reserved online up to six months in advance. Since we were here in April, the campground was practically empty and getting a site was no problem. But, if you want one of the 29 full hook-up sites in the summer, you better book early.

We really enjoyed the hiking trails and being able to leave our campsite and be right on the trails. There are approximately 12 miles of hiking trails and an additional 20 miles that are open to horses and snowmobiles. (Be aware that hunting is permitted in certain areas.)

The park is about 15 miles from Cuyahoga Valley National Park which is a fantastic place to explore with a lot going on for the whole family! If you are interested in football, the National Football Hall of Fame is just down the road in Canton. The town of Hudson has a pretty, historic downtown with a fun old soda fountain.

We would definitely stay at this campground again. It was a perfect place to stay while visiting family in the nearby town of Hudson. Loved having a paved site with full hook-ups especially since there was a lot of rain while we were there. The lake was perfect for kayaking and had we been able to stay longer we would have spent more time on the water.

    Great stop for one night

Great campground on the smaller side, so not too much traffic driving around. Our site was gravel and fairly unlevel. Did our best to level it out but still have water collecting to the left. We lucked out and got a pull through last minute.

Water pressure was low. ATT cell coverage was full. Lots of shade so couldn’t use our Starlink internet but the campground internet was great. Even had video camera meetings on it while working in the morning.

Worth noting we were having some rig problems (slide out stuck in) and after calling four local places not one of them returned our calls. Only stayed the one night because we need to move on to get this fixed.

    Shenango Campground

    Huge COE

After getting off I80, our RV GPS wanted to take us on a wonky route, so we followed Waze and the campground’s(CG) web instructions that took us across the causeway on N. Hermitage Rd, then a right turn off on Birchwood Rd, which led us to take a left turn back across N. Hermitage Rd to get back to the Shenango Rec Area turn. Once we got to the CG, check in was quick and very easy. Just happened, our next door neighbor/camp host checked us in and told us we could get water off their site so we proceeded straight to site 199 that’s a back in with electric(50/30 AMP) only plus one of the better spaced sites in the CG. We had to maneuver a couple of times to get into the 90 degree site but the road was wide with no obstacles to prevent swinging into the site. We quickly found out that our 50 AMP connection had issues and after reporting it, a maintenance crew came within 20 minutes and fixed a bad breaker. We got 3 bars on Verizon and a handful of OTA channels. Due to the amount of mature trees, satellite would be iffy depending on your site. There are no FHU sites(camp host sites have electric& water). Electric sites are centrally grouped within the loops and spaced closer together than most COEs. The majority of the sites within this CG are dry camping and they too are fairly close together. The sites right on the lake were all dry camping. With all the dry camping sites in this CG, its nice that they allow generator use during non quiet hours. Quiet hours here are 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. There are water spigots periodically located within the loops and the CG map identifies where they are. There’s also a two-lane dump station located near the entrance but there is no potable water. There are signs stating no alcohol in the park, but people were openly drinking. We also noted that the contractors who clean the restroom/shower facilities start early in the morning and close the facility while cleaning, which was inconvenient for the dry campers just waking up. If we were to stay at this CG again, we’d come during the week and get a dry camping site on the water.

Guide to Limaville

Campgrounds near Limaville, Ohio offer rural retreats within easy reach of the Portage Lakes region and Amish Country. Summer temperatures typically range from 70-85°F with cooler spring and fall camping seasons from April through October. Most campgrounds in this area feature gravel pads with varying degrees of shade coverage, especially important during July and August when humidity levels peak.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Kool Lakes Family RV Park provides excellent fishing access for families. "Our kids age 4 and 8 fished from sun up Saturday to about noon and then sporadically after that throughout the day. That night we hunted large bull frogs. All catch and release," reports one visitor. The park has both dedicated fishing lakes and swimming areas, though you should bring your own bait as the camp store doesnt stock fishing supplies.

Amish Country explorations: When camping near Limaville, short day trips to Amish Country reveal roadside attractions and local culture. "The campground is right in the middle of Amish Country with easy access to shopping and food and other great experiences like the large cuckoo clock in Sugar Creek," notes a visitor to Berlin RV Park & Campground. Most Amish businesses operate Monday through Saturday with limited Sunday hours.

Water recreation: Several campgrounds feature swimming lakes with additional amenities during summer months. "The beach looked inviting and lots of fun things for kids of all ages," writes a camper about Roundup Lake RV Resort. Water activities typically run from Memorial Day through Labor Day, weather permitting, with some campgrounds charging separate fees for lake access.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Bathroom cleanliness rates highly in camper reviews of RV sites near Limaville, Ohio. "SPOTLESS bathrooms and I mean SPOTLESS. Lots to do for kids. Sand Volleyball, basketball court, tetherball, corn hole area and playground," reports a visitor to Berlin RV Park & Campground. Most campgrounds provide shower facilities with varying levels of privacy and water pressure.

Friendly management: Staff responsiveness earns frequent mention across multiple campgrounds. "When I first got here the 2 owners went above and beyond in so many ways. Unfortunately they didn't have a 50 amp site available so the owner gave me 30 amp converter at no cost and also helped me hook up my gray water and black water connections," shares a camper at Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground. This level of personal service appears common at smaller, owner-operated campgrounds in the region.

Seasonal activities: Many campgrounds organize themed weekends throughout the camping season. "The themed weekends throughout the season are fun and festive and there are a lot of activities to do and participate!" notes a visitor to Roundup Lake RV Resort. Activities typically include holiday celebrations, craft sessions, and outdoor games from May through October.

What you should know

Reservation timing: Advance planning becomes crucial during peak seasons. "We camped here the second weekend in December and had the park mostly to ourselves. There were only 3 other campers there," writes a visitor about winter camping at Evergreen Park RV Resort. Most campgrounds in the area fill quickly for summer holiday weekends, requiring reservations 3-6 months in advance.

Site spacing considerations: Proximity to neighboring campers varies significantly between campgrounds. "Very clean and nice campground. I only negative for me was the campsites are very close to each other," notes a camper at Evergreen Park RV Resort. Site dimensions and privacy levels should factor into campground selection, especially for those seeking more secluded experiences.

Seasonal operations: Operating schedules differ between facilities with varying closure dates. Most campgrounds open between April and May, closing between October and December. Year-round options remain limited, with Evergreen Park RV Resort being one of the few four-season facilities in the area.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Countryside Campground offers family-friendly amenities that appeal to younger campers. "Well kept smaller campground. Kids trick or treated and all campers were very friendly. Due to cooler temps pool was closed. The small putt putt course was still open for kids to play. Playground was a hit for our 8yr and under kids," shares one visitor. Most playgrounds remain accessible throughout the camping season regardless of pool closures.

Swimming options: Lakes provide natural swimming areas at several campgrounds. "We've stayed here twice, and both times have been great. It is beautifully set up with a small lake for swimming, playgrounds, pavillions, games, events, music etc," writes a camper about Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground. Swimming areas typically open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, weather permitting.

Fishing for kids: Stocked ponds make fishing accessible for younger anglers. "Our family really enjoyed staying here, and our kids especially loved swimming and fishing in the lake," reports a visitor to Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground. Most campgrounds do not require fishing licenses for private ponds but do enforce catch-and-release policies.

Tips from RVers

Leveling challenges: Site conditions vary significantly across campgrounds near Limaville. "We had difficulty leveling one night in lot 3 but traded to #4 the next night and did fine. The many pull thru lots looked like a good level base," notes a camper at Berlin RV Park & Campground. Carrying extra leveling blocks remains advisable for most RV sites in this region.

Hookup positioning: Utility connection locations require planning at some rv sites near Limaville, Ohio. "The one and only issue is that water and electricity is located in the rear area of RV, while sewer connections are toward the front. I personally used 50' of water line and 30' of sewer line," advises a visitor to Scenic Hills RV Park. Extra-length hoses and cords prove useful at many area campgrounds.

Seasonal amenities: Indoor facilities at some campgrounds provide year-round recreation options. "We camped here the second weekend in December and had the park mostly to ourselves. The game room was nice as well as the indoor pool," reports a winter visitor to Evergreen Park RV Resort. Off-season camping offers quieter experiences with reduced crowds but limited outdoor amenities.
