East Fork State Park Campground accommodates pets throughout its extensive grounds with sites that vary from wooded secluded spots to more open areas. Campers bring dogs to enjoy the spacious camping loops where sites are paved and relatively level. The park maintains clean restrooms and shower facilities while providing full hookup options for RV campers with pets. Stonelick State Park Campground also welcomes pets at its camping areas which include tent sites, RV spaces, cabins, and glamping accommodations. Both parks enforce standard leash policies and require pet owners to clean up after their animals. Fire rings and picnic tables come standard at most pet-friendly sites. The bathrooms are extremely clean with hot water always available, though some visitors note the shower pressure can be unusually strong.

Multiple hiking trails around East Fork Lake provide excellent pet exercise opportunities, with several miles of paths where dogs can accompany their owners. The park features a 2.5-mile bike trail connecting to a nearby small town where supplies can be obtained. Pet owners should be prepared for potentially muddy conditions after rain, particularly along shoreline areas. The campground layout includes several different site types, including private wooded areas and sites that extend into forested sections where multiple camping parties can join together while maintaining separate accommodations. This arrangement works well for family groups camping with pets. East Fork's mature trees provide good shade coverage for keeping pets cool during summer camping sessions.

      Lebanon-Cincinnati NE KOA

      Fantastic Place

This KOA sets the bar for the Ohio locations we have visited. The bathrooms are amazing and private. The tent site we had was huge and there were actually trees for our suspended tent and hammocks. The dog park wasn’t huge, but larger than most. The campground was completely full but still quiet and peaceful. The staff are amazing.

      Cowan Lake State Park Campground

      Large Campground

Autumn is the best time to camp in Ohio. Lots of small bathrooms. Lake access. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was due to the fact there was no quick reentry. Had to wait for rvs in front of me to register.

      Oak Creek Campground

      Easy place to stop

Nice campground with several pull through sites for big rigs. Pool and new dog park with a very nice play area for the kids. We prefer site 18 which offers nice privacy and os next to a stream.

      East Fork State Park Campground

      Overall great state park

Generous sized campsites, a lot of them are wooded which we prefer, with around 400 sites there are plenty to choose from! Bathroom/shower facilities are updated and usually well maintained. There is a large public beach but it's on the other side of the park so you have to drive all the way around to get to it, no short cuts. They have a camp ground beach but it's been closed the last 2 years. Lots of hiking trails, bridal trails and a bike path. Wish list for this park: Boat rental, dog park, dog beach/water access. Overall a beautiful park.

The Landing at Bear Creek RV Park

      Work in Progress

This is newly opened and a lot of work still needs to be done. Currently there is no dog park, hiking trails or bathhouses like it states. Many of the spots aren’t even finished yet.

When looking at the camp map don’t plan on having access to the creek or river. Your lucky if you can even view it.

The ground is all sand. So while if it rains you won’t get muddy, but the sand is a pain and gets everywhere.

The Landing at Bear Creek RV Park

      Family Atmosphere

This is the best campground we have stayed at. We have been here all summer and we’ve had no complaints. The owners are great people who are always here working and interacting with the campers. Splash pad, pavilion, playground, Gaga pit, and dog park are a few of the great amenities. Each lot has a fire pit and the lots are large. They do activities for the kids every weekend and also have bands! It’s a fun place.

      Family kamp

All in all I think this is an amazing campground for a KOA. It has a jump pad for the kids very small dog park. The sites are very close together but we are here during the week so that’s not an issue. We have cable which is also nice. They have gaga ball a basketball court a laundry area. The roads are gravel and I do have a swimming pool in the summer. The store is great and has pretty much everything that you could need

The Landing at Bear Creek RV Park

Best full time campground on the Ohio River!

We are full-time RVers and this is by far the best park we've stayed at! It's peaceful and beautiful, everyone (especially Management) is so friendly and fun! The laundry facility is one of the greatest amenities as we've stayed other places without one, so we truly appreciate it! The splash pad is fantastic for children and adults alike! There's a dog park, and a kids kangaroo jump pad as well. The view of the river is beautiful! On weekends there's entertainment and/or cornhole tournaments to bring everyone together. The park is maintained perfectly and I've enjoyed calling it home! By far the best park in Southern Clermont County! Must see!

      East Fork State Park Campground

This Park Has a Little for Everyoen

This was our first time camping here and it was a large park. There was several miles of bike trails , bridle trails and hiking trails. There is also a beach and marina for campers away from the main beach and marina for those just visiting the park for the day.

The nature center offered movies in the evening for guest.

The park was very clean and maintained. Trails were well marked and the camp hosts were very friendly.

We were there over Labor Day weekend and it was a quiet park except for the occasional golf cart late at night going by.

I did see a few dogs off leash which is always a pet peeve of mine.

      Verizon cell coverage was good.

    Guide to Bethel

Camping areas around Bethel, Ohio sit at an average elevation of 850 feet above sea level in the rolling foothills of southwest Ohio. The region experiences four distinct seasons with summer temperatures averaging 75-85°F and winter lows frequently dropping below freezing. Most campgrounds in the area feature a mix of wooded and open sites on terrain that ranges from flat to moderately sloped.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: At Cowan Lake State Park Campground, the 700-acre lake offers excellent fishing. "The park features mini golf (small nine-hole course), soccer, basketball, tennis, volleyball, corn hole, boating, and bicycling" according to Lee D., who notes there are "several hiking or paved biking/walking trails" available.

Observe wildlife: Big Bone Lick State Historic Site Campground offers unique wildlife viewing. "There are a lot of little trails that criss cross each other and a lot of informational signs and a little museum. This is not a destination for serious hiking, but is perfect for families," explains Lynn G. The park is known for its "live bison" which is a "pretty sweet experience" according to Zoe S.

Paddling adventures: Kincaid Lake State Park Campground provides water recreation options just 40 minutes from Bethel. "The boating area is nice and has your typical 'outdoor' facilities you would find at a rest area. The scenery of the water and trees are amazing," notes Lisa S., who recommends bringing extra leveling blocks for RVs.

    What campers like

Spacious campsites: Stonelick State Park Campground offers sites that accommodate various camping setups. "Our spot was right next to a small Pollinator trail that led to the water. My little ones had a blast riding their scooters around the round about," says Jess H., who appreciated the clean restrooms and convenient facilities.

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention the well-maintained bathrooms at Stonelick State Park Campground. Craig C. notes, "Plenty of well kept restrooms spread throughout the camping area. Bath house is clean and modern. There is potable water in multiple sites and a double sided dump station."

Pet-friendly amenities: Many campgrounds near Bethel welcome pets with designated areas. "The dog park is a nice feature," notes one reviewer about A.J. Jolly Park & Campground, which offers pet-friendly camping near Bethel, Ohio with lakefront views and wooded sites that keep pets cool during summer months.

    What you should know

Varying site conditions: Kincaid Lake State Park Campground requires preparation for uneven terrain. "The campground is good for tent camping but iffy for others. I would definitely bring extra leveling blocks," advises Lisa S. Another camper, Brittany G., adds "most sites are pretty un-level" which can be challenging for RVs.

Limited phone service: Some campgrounds have spotty cellular coverage. Lee D. reported at East Fork State Park that "for a park so close to a large city (Cincinnati), I was surprised the cell service was so lacking (on Verizon). We eked out one and occasionally two bars of 4G."

Seasonal restrictions: Many campgrounds have limited operating seasons. Big Bone Lick State Historic Site operates from April 1 to October 31, while others like Cowan Lake State Park Campground remain open year-round but with reduced services during winter months.

    Tips for camping with families

Playgrounds and recreational facilities: A.J. Jolly Park & Campground offers numerous family-friendly amenities. "The main playground is extremely nice. About 1/3 mile walk. They do have a small playground in the RV section," notes Jeffrey D., while another reviewer mentions the "splash pad, pavilion, playground, Gaga pit, and dog park are a few of the great amenities."

Educational opportunities: When camping with children, Big Bone Lick State Historic Site provides learning experiences. "The museum and gift shop have a lot of educational stuff which would be excellent for a home schooling trip. A good interactive grade school age children campground," suggests Shelly S.

Swimming options: Several campgrounds feature swimming areas. Lisa S. notes that Kincaid Lake State Park is an "Awesome place to swim during daytime hours, just remember to use caution and don't go out of designated area."

    Tips from RVers

Leveling challenges: Cowan Lake State Park Campground offers paved sites but preparation is needed. Kim H. reports, "The asphalt pad was decently level; a picnic table and fire ring were included." Johnothan R. advises the park "Has water to fill tanks and Dumping Stations to empty as needed, so great semi-boondocking."

Full hookup availability: Some campgrounds offer limited full hookup sites that book quickly. Tucker's Landing offers "Sewage, water, and electrical were all surprisingly well maintained and clearly visible. Each spot had plenty of space for activities. Each plot also has it's own concrete slab for your RV, so you don't have to worry about parking in the mud," according to Daniel G.

Site selection strategy: For pet-friendly camping near Bethel, Ohio, RVers should research specific site layouts. "There was significant variety in the types of sites: some were quite wooded while others were full sun. Some sites were much larger than others," advises Kim H. about selecting the right spot at Cowan Lake.
