Best Cabin Camping near Bedford, OH

Cabin options within 30 miles of Bedford include both rustic and modern accommodations at several established campgrounds. Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA offers cabin rentals with electricity and basic furnishings, while West Branch State Park provides more rustic cabin experiences with limited amenities. A visitor staying in a KOA cabin noted that "Family rented a cabin and it was disgusting. Dirty furniture-dishes-run down. Toilet looked like someone died in it." Woodside Lake Park and Roundup Lake RV Resort also feature cabin rentals with varying levels of furnishings and amenities, typically including beds, limited kitchen facilities, and proximity to shared restroom facilities.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. KOA cabins generally include beds and basic furniture but require guests to bring their own linens. Pet policies vary by campground, with Streetsboro KOA allowing pets in select cabins for an additional fee. Roundup Lake RV Resort operates from May through October, limiting winter cabin options. According to one review, "For $250 a night our recommendation is get a hotel-cheaper and cleaner," suggesting visitors should carefully research cabin conditions before booking. Some campgrounds like Woodside Lake Park maintain cabins with heating for shoulder season visits when temperatures drop.

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Basic cooking supplies such as microwaves are available in some units, while others rely on outdoor fire rings or community grills. The on-site stores at Streetsboro KOA and other campgrounds stock essential items including firewood, ice, and limited groceries. For more substantial provisions, grocery stores are located in Streetsboro and surrounding communities. Cabins at Penitentiary Glen Reservation and American Wilderness Campground offer varied accommodations but typically lack full kitchens, making meal planning an important consideration for extended stays.

    West Branch State Park Campground

Well kept campground with access to beach and dock

Each campsite in on a leveled cement pad and comes with a fire ring a picnic table. There is plenty of room around your site and you don't feel crowded. Most sites offer nice tree coverage for shade. The restrooms and showers are very clean and well taken care of. There is also a laundry facility and sink outside each one for washing dishes and water fountains throughout the park. There is a nice beachfront for swimming and then a dock that be reached from outside the park. A beautiful lake for kayaking or boating. The store has most camping needs in it and once a week they host an ice cream social. Has a very nice playground and a sand volleyball court. There are some hiking trails, but nothing extensive.

    Roundup Lake RV Resort

Great Lively Place with lots of Amenities

Starting off, everyone from the employees to the other campers were super friendly! My boyfriend and I rented The Park Model Cabin which was sort of a half trailer with a full bathroom and full kitchen. The bed was the only detractor of our trip, as it was mostly springs. We brought our air mattress in for the second night and slept much better. The themed weekends throughout the season are fun and festive and there are a lot of activities to do and participate!

Sun Retreats Geneva on the Lake

It's Easy to Love this Campground

As newbies to all things RV, we needed a place in Ohio to break in our new travel trailer. Indian Creek is family and pet friendly with all the amenities and even a great lookout spot across the street where you can take in a Lake Erie sunset. We loved the clean bathrooms and appreciated the staff's effort to maintain services while encouraging social distancing. All of their COVID-19 policies were well spelled out online and in signage across the resort so that you knew what to expect. All of the staff wore masks and bathrooms were cleaned often. Some of their usual events and programs were unavailable but they offered craft kits for children to pick up and do at their own campsite in lieu of the usual program. We enjoyed their beautiful put-put course and ice cream stand. They did not allow outside visitors in the resort. The only thing that threw us off was that the bathhouses were closed at night and we didn't know that until we tried to use them. The resort is expanding and adding new sites. They are planting lots of trees (it looked like one at each site) so the resort should become more park-like and less parking lot as they grow. We really liked the back-in sites with water and electric hookups because they were larger and more private and wooded. The fire ring was so easy to cook on that now I'm spoiled! The camp store/gas station was convenient and well stocked with camping supplies. Golf carts are available to rent if you need them to navigate this huge park. We rode our bikes instead. There is a township park just down the road towards Geneva-on-the-Lake proper that we used to spend some leisure and exercise time near the lake. We look forward to visiting this RV resort again in the future!

    West Branch State Park Campground

    Wooded Waterside Sites

Make reservations! (6 months in advance).  Waterside sites fill up quickly! Check in is very easy as you pass the camp store on your way in. All campsites have a fire ring and picnic table.  West Branch has private, spacious, shady sites. We can launch our kayaks right from our campsite. The shower house and bathrooms are large and clean. There is even a book exchange shelf at the shower house in case of rainy days. The park office loans games and sports equipment to campers. Washers and dryers are also at the shower house. There is an outside sink to wash up dishes. Bring your boat or kayak. There are many inlets to explore or fish. There is a small beach at the campground but a larger one on the other side of the lake. There is a boat launch at the campground.  There are playgrounds for the children. An ice cream social is held on Saturday evenings that my children always love to attend. There is a newer dog park near the intersection of Rock Spring  and Esworthy roads. There are many scenic hiking trails at West Branch. Bridal trails are located on Esworthy Rd. West Branch is our favorite campground and we make sure to visit every year.

    Mosquito Lake State Park Campground

    Great State Park Campground

We just got back from our first trip to Mosquito Lake State Park Campground. All in all, it was a great experience.

We stayed in site 67, which is a waterfront site, with electric. The water is about 25 yards from the pad, but is visible from the entire site. The site was spacious, but not as private as some of the others. There is some woods between this site and the sites on either side, but other sites are visible. The fire pits and picnic tables were staggered, so it created some distance to make it feel more private.

The campground as a whole, was very quiet. We stayed from Wednesday to Friday. The group next to us seemed a little rowdy when we first pulled in, but by 10:00 there was no noise anywhere near us.

Most sites seemed pretty level from side to side, but where we were, several had a slope from front to back. Away from the waterfront, most sites looked pretty level. The amount of space between sites varied from site to site. Some sites had woods on both sides, while others were pretty open. Some had nice large grassy areas, others were much smaller. Sites from 214-224 are in a cul de sac and are water front, but they were pretty close together with very little privacy between sites, if any. They are very close to the water though.

There are bathrooms and water scatter about, but from what I saw there was only 1 shower house.

Wal-mart and other shopping and restaurants were about 3 miles away. Park was easy to get to, only one turn for us off the highway. Lake was great for kayaking and paddleboarding. Very nice dog park in a different part of the park. There is a boat launch accessible from inside the campground.

Dump station has 2 lanes which was nice when checking out. Fresh water fill up was also located near the dump station.

    Cabins could be better

The bunk beds have very thin rv style bunk bed mattresses. And the master bed mattress was a weak memory foam. Needs to invest in better mattresses.

    KOA Lake Milton Berlin Lake

    Cabin

Last August rented Cabin. It was beautiful and very clean. The owners were great and very helpful. !! Cabins are a little high in price. No WiFi,. KOA should lower the prices due to that. Activities are great keeps the kids interested. KOA should have on all camping sites Life Guard if there is water sports involved.Game room was nice and clean.Change machine needs to stay stocked.Fishing lake was great. I think with full swing in Season they should offer more activities for adults too.Camp Store should be more orangized. Bathhouse was very clean!.Trash was picked up every day and the Park very clean.! We have booked another Cabin for May 2021. They have a limited rental on Life jacket s. Bring ur own.!

    Findley State Park Campground

    Organized Group Site 2

It was difficult to find pictures or reviews of the Findlay group sites. It honestly seemed to me that they didn't exist, so I thought I'd do the service of taking some pictures.

The group sites are away from the main campsites, so you should have plenty of space for your group to set up and enough distance between them to not disturb the peace if you have a large group. OGA2 is heavily forested, I'm not sure about OGA1. There are plenty of trees so both hammock and tent campers should be accommodated. The fire pit is large and there are 4 picnic tables.

The campsite is about 75 yards from the parking area, and there is a vault toilet right before the parking area.

Guide to Bedford

Camping cabins near Bedford, Ohio provide access to the forested terrain of northeastern Ohio with an average elevation of 1,050 feet above sea level. The area receives around 40 inches of annual rainfall, creating lush surroundings for cabin camping between May and October. Several campgrounds maintain year-round cabin accommodations, though amenities vary significantly by location.

What to do

Water activities at multiple lakes: West Branch State Park Campground offers excellent kayaking opportunities on Kirwan Reservoir. "We took the inflatable kayaks out on the lake twice and it was so smooth and clear," notes a visitor. The park also features "a huge slide" and multiple beaches for swimming.

Fishing spots for all skill levels: American Wilderness Campground provides well-maintained fishing areas. "We loved the beach and the fun we have had this is our favorite place to camp," writes a visitor. The campground maintains stocked ponds for reliable catch-and-release fishing.

Hiking trail networks: Wooded trails connect many campgrounds to surrounding natural areas. At Countryside Campground, "A nice path through the woods down to the Mogadore reservoir, where you can fish and kayak," makes outdoor exploration convenient. The Buckeye Trail connects to several footpaths leading to water access points.

What campers like

Private, wooded sites: Penitentiary Glen Reservation Campsite receives praise for its seclusion. "Its like you have the forest to yourselves out here," writes one camper. The remote sites require a longer walk-in but provide exceptional privacy.

Clean facilities: Findley State Park maintains well-kept shower facilities. "Either new or remodeled recently, it was clean and comfortable (not always a given!)," reports a visitor. The park also offers full hookup sites for those seeking more amenities while maintaining natural surroundings.

Family-friendly atmosphere: Woodside Lake Park offers recreational options for all ages. "The swimming pond has inflatables and boat rentals. There's good fishing, and typically lots of activities," notes a regular visitor. The campground provides a camp store with essential supplies for those who forget items.

What you should know

Seasonal operation limitations: Most cabin facilities operate between May and October. Roundup Lake RV Resort runs "from May 1 to October 31," limiting winter cabin options. Campgrounds that remain open year-round like Findley State Park have reduced services in colder months.

Site conditions vary widely: Some campgrounds require preparation for unlevel terrain. At West Branch State Park, a visitor reported: "Our site was labeled slight slope. That was a joke. We were only off 2 inches side to side but front to back we had to lower the front 15 inches."

Water quality considerations: Well water quality differs between campgrounds. Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA maintains treated water systems, while at other locations visitors note "very clean and well taken care of" bathroom facilities with reliable water supplies.

Tips for camping with families

Activity planning for children: Jellystone Park offers structured recreation. "This place is AMAZING for families with kids! Tons of planned activities (about every hour) for everyone to enjoy. Huge pool, gem mine, mini golf, and homemade ice cream!" writes a family camper.

Beach access considerations: Most lake beaches close at specific hours. At Streetsboro KOA, a parent noted "Swimming (wish it were open a little later…)" when planning evening activities. Alternative entertainment options include fishing ponds and playgrounds when beaches close.

Wildlife awareness: Maple Lakes Campground provides spacious sites with natural surroundings. "This is a big campground where you are not on top of your neighbors. There is a lot offered and great place for kids," reports a visitor. Parents should note that wildlife sightings, including raccoons, are common at many campgrounds.

Tips from RVers

Hookup availability: Full-service sites fill quickly at state parks. At West Branch State Park, "Make reservations! (6 months in advance). Waterside sites fill up quickly!" The park offers limited full hookup sites but numerous electric-only options.

Leveling requirements: Prepare for uneven terrain at several campgrounds. West Branch campers recommend: "Check in is very easy as you pass the camp store on your way in. All campsites have a fire ring and picnic table. West Branch has private, spacious, shady sites."

Site selection strategy: When booking at older facilities, research site location carefully. For optimal cabin experiences, campers recommend selecting locations away from main roads and near amenities like bathhouses and water sources.
