    West Branch State Park Campground

Well kept campground with access to beach and dock

Each campsite in on a leveled cement pad and comes with a fire ring a picnic table. There is plenty of room around your site and you don't feel crowded. Most sites offer nice tree coverage for shade. The restrooms and showers are very clean and well taken care of. There is also a laundry facility and sink outside each one for washing dishes and water fountains throughout the park. There is a nice beachfront for swimming and then a dock that be reached from outside the park. A beautiful lake for kayaking or boating. The store has most camping needs in it and once a week they host an ice cream social. Has a very nice playground and a sand volleyball court. There are some hiking trails, but nothing extensive.

    Roundup Lake RV Resort

Great Lively Place with lots of Amenities

Starting off, everyone from the employees to the other campers were super friendly! My boyfriend and I rented The Park Model Cabin which was sort of a half trailer with a full bathroom and full kitchen. The bed was the only detractor of our trip, as it was mostly springs. We brought our air mattress in for the second night and slept much better. The themed weekends throughout the season are fun and festive and there are a lot of activities to do and participate!

Sun Retreats Geneva on the Lake

It's Easy to Love this Campground

As newbies to all things RV, we needed a place in Ohio to break in our new travel trailer. Indian Creek is family and pet friendly with all the amenities and even a great lookout spot across the street where you can take in a Lake Erie sunset. We loved the clean bathrooms and appreciated the staff's effort to maintain services while encouraging social distancing. All of their COVID-19 policies were well spelled out online and in signage across the resort so that you knew what to expect. All of the staff wore masks and bathrooms were cleaned often. Some of their usual events and programs were unavailable but they offered craft kits for children to pick up and do at their own campsite in lieu of the usual program. We enjoyed their beautiful put-put course and ice cream stand. They did not allow outside visitors in the resort. The only thing that threw us off was that the bathhouses were closed at night and we didn't know that until we tried to use them. The resort is expanding and adding new sites. They are planting lots of trees (it looked like one at each site) so the resort should become more park-like and less parking lot as they grow. We really liked the back-in sites with water and electric hookups because they were larger and more private and wooded. The fire ring was so easy to cook on that now I'm spoiled! The camp store/gas station was convenient and well stocked with camping supplies. Golf carts are available to rent if you need them to navigate this huge park. We rode our bikes instead. There is a township park just down the road towards Geneva-on-the-Lake proper that we used to spend some leisure and exercise time near the lake. We look forward to visiting this RV resort again in the future!

    West Branch State Park Campground

    Wooded Waterside Sites

Make reservations! (6 months in advance).  Waterside sites fill up quickly! Check in is very easy as you pass the camp store on your way in. All campsites have a fire ring and picnic table.  West Branch has private, spacious, shady sites. We can launch our kayaks right from our campsite. The shower house and bathrooms are large and clean. There is even a book exchange shelf at the shower house in case of rainy days. The park office loans games and sports equipment to campers. Washers and dryers are also at the shower house. There is an outside sink to wash up dishes. Bring your boat or kayak. There are many inlets to explore or fish. There is a small beach at the campground but a larger one on the other side of the lake. There is a boat launch at the campground.  There are playgrounds for the children. An ice cream social is held on Saturday evenings that my children always love to attend. There is a newer dog park near the intersection of Rock Spring  and Esworthy roads. There are many scenic hiking trails at West Branch. Bridal trails are located on Esworthy Rd. West Branch is our favorite campground and we make sure to visit every year.

    Mosquito Lake State Park Campground

    Great State Park Campground

We just got back from our first trip to Mosquito Lake State Park Campground. All in all, it was a great experience.

We stayed in site 67, which is a waterfront site, with electric. The water is about 25 yards from the pad, but is visible from the entire site. The site was spacious, but not as private as some of the others. There is some woods between this site and the sites on either side, but other sites are visible. The fire pits and picnic tables were staggered, so it created some distance to make it feel more private.

The campground as a whole, was very quiet. We stayed from Wednesday to Friday. The group next to us seemed a little rowdy when we first pulled in, but by 10:00 there was no noise anywhere near us.

Most sites seemed pretty level from side to side, but where we were, several had a slope from front to back. Away from the waterfront, most sites looked pretty level. The amount of space between sites varied from site to site. Some sites had woods on both sides, while others were pretty open. Some had nice large grassy areas, others were much smaller. Sites from 214-224 are in a cul de sac and are water front, but they were pretty close together with very little privacy between sites, if any. They are very close to the water though.

There are bathrooms and water scatter about, but from what I saw there was only 1 shower house.

Wal-mart and other shopping and restaurants were about 3 miles away. Park was easy to get to, only one turn for us off the highway. Lake was great for kayaking and paddleboarding. Very nice dog park in a different part of the park. There is a boat launch accessible from inside the campground.

Dump station has 2 lanes which was nice when checking out. Fresh water fill up was also located near the dump station.

    Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™- Akron/Canton

    Cabins could be better

The bunk beds have very thin rv style bunk bed mattresses. And the master bed mattress was a weak memory foam. Needs to invest in better mattresses.

    West Branch State Park Campground

    Love the Lake!

This state park has a lot to offer with the highlight being a large 2,650-lake that appeals to fishermen, boaters, and swimmers. The park is over 5,000 acres and not only has camping but hiking, volleyball, fishing, playgrounds, picnicking, hunting, horseback riding, and more.

The campground is divided into three loops with nearly 200 sites. Campsites include those with full hook-up (50 amp), electric only (50 amp), and some with no electric. This campground is suitable for everything from large RVs to tents. Sites and roads are paved and each site has a picnic table and fire pit. In loops where there is no water directly at the site, water spigots are scattered throughout. The restroom/bathhouses in our loop were really nice, modern, clean, and had laundry facilities which is a real plus at a state park campground. Campsites can be reserved online up to six months in advance. Since we were here in April, the campground was practically empty and getting a site was no problem. But, if you want one of the 29 full hook-up sites in the summer, you better book early.

We really enjoyed the hiking trails and being able to leave our campsite and be right on the trails. There are approximately 12 miles of hiking trails and an additional 20 miles that are open to horses and snowmobiles. (Be aware that hunting is permitted in certain areas.)

The park is about 15 miles from Cuyahoga Valley National Park which is a fantastic place to explore with a lot going on for the whole family! If you are interested in football, the National Football Hall of Fame is just down the road in Canton. The town of Hudson has a pretty, historic downtown with a fun old soda fountain.

We would definitely stay at this campground again. It was a perfect place to stay while visiting family in the nearby town of Hudson. Loved having a paved site with full hook-ups especially since there was a lot of rain while we were there. The lake was perfect for kayaking and had we been able to stay longer we would have spent more time on the water.

    Findley State Park Campground

    Organized Group Site 2

It was difficult to find pictures or reviews of the Findlay group sites. It honestly seemed to me that they didn't exist, so I thought I'd do the service of taking some pictures.

The group sites are away from the main campsites, so you should have plenty of space for your group to set up and enough distance between them to not disturb the peace if you have a large group. OGA2 is heavily forested, I'm not sure about OGA1. There are plenty of trees so both hammock and tent campers should be accommodated. The fire pit is large and there are 4 picnic tables.

The campsite is about 75 yards from the parking area, and there is a vault toilet right before the parking area.

Guide to Beachwood

Cabin accommodations near Beachwood provide access to surrounding state parks and natural areas within 30-40 minutes of the city. The region experiences cold winters with regular snowfall and warm, humid summers with temperatures typically ranging from 20°F to 85°F throughout the year. Local cabins serve as convenient bases for exploring Cleveland's eastern suburbs and nearby recreation areas.

What to do

Water activities at West Branch: The reservoir at West Branch State Park Campground offers multiple water recreation options throughout the warm season. Visitors can launch boats from the campground boat ramp or direct from waterfront sites. "Great site! Shades lots of space semi private area. Right off the water with area to tie boat for easy water access," notes one camper who enjoyed the direct water access.

Fishing opportunities: Many local cabins provide fishing access, either on-site or nearby. The fishing pond at Countryside Campground connects to Mogadore Reservoir via a wooded path. According to a visitor, "There is a nice path through the woods down to the reservoir, where you can fish and kayak." The multiple small ponds at Streetsboro KOA also offer fishing opportunities.

Hiking trail access: Cabin rentals serve as starting points for local trail networks. Penitentiary Glen Reservation cabins provide convenient access to surrounding gorge trails. A recent visitor reported, "Even with the colder weather it was nice and cozy. Plenty of fire wood provided and a short distance away from the gorge to walk." Big Creek Park also offers "small, well-marked, accessible, and easily walkable" trails suitable for families.

What campers like

Privacy and spaciousness: Headwaters Park cabins provide secluded settings with lakefront views. "Campsite G is the one. It is an open lean to with a stone fireplace facing the inside of the three sided wooden structure," notes one visitor who appreciated the setting. Many cabins at West Branch State Park also feature good separation between sites.

Clean facilities: Well-maintained bathhouses and shower facilities enhance the cabin camping experience near Beachwood. Countryside Campground receives consistent praise for cleanliness. One guest observed, "The bathrooms were clean, the showers were nice and the pool was well kept. Each site comes with a fire ring and picnic table both in good condition." This attention to maintenance is important for comfort during longer stays.

Proximity to attractions: Cabins provide convenient access to Cleveland attractions and Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA is strategically located for exploring both. "We stopped here for a couple nights to go to a Cleveland Guardians game and go to Cuyahoga National Park. It was within great proximity to both," shares one visitor who appreciated the central location.

What you should know

Reservation timing: Securing cabin reservations requires advance planning, especially for waterfront locations. One West Branch camper advises, "Make reservations! (6 months in advance). Waterside sites fill up quickly!" This is particularly important for summer weekends and holidays.

Site characteristics: Cabin sites vary significantly in size, levelness and access. Some Findley State Park campers recommend researching specific sites before booking: "I would recommend doing some research on campsites as they range from small to large for the same price." Some premium sites may require early arrival to navigate into position.

Water quality concerns: Some facilities in the region have well water with mineral content issues. One camper at Woodside Lake Park reported: "I spent hundreds of dollars trying to filter and clean up the water to no avail. It damages everything." Always check water quality details when booking cabin accommodations without municipal water connections.

Seasonal considerations: Many cabin facilities near Beachwood operate seasonally from April/May through October. Swimming amenities typically close after Labor Day regardless of temperature. As one visitor noted, "We went before Memorial Day but it was a nice medium sized pool," indicating seasonal limitations even at year-round facilities.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: American Wilderness Campground cabins provide access to numerous family activities. "We had a good time taking the kids to the arcade," reports one visitor. Other family favorites include gem mining, organized weekend activities, and themed events during holiday weekends.

Playground access: Many cabin locations offer playground equipment for younger children. Countryside Campground receives positive feedback for its kid-centered amenities: "Kids trick or treated and all campers were very friendly. Due to cooler temps pool was closed. The small putt putt course was still open for kids to play. Playground was a hit for our 8yr and under kids."

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Cabins offer chances to observe local wildlife, though precautions are needed. A Streetsboro KOA camper shared this experience: "Every night we were visited by raccoons, they stole our trash on the first night but the other nights we kept everything out of their reach. There were fun little raccoon hand prints all over though." Parents should supervise children and secure food items.

Tips from RVers

Cabin alternatives for RVers: Roundup Lake RV Resort provides both RV sites and cabin options when travelers need extra space for guests. "We camped in a 33' TT in a pull through site. Sites are close but shady and large enough for trailer and our truck," noted one RVer who appreciated the layout.

Campfire considerations: Fire ring quality varies between cabin locations. One West Branch camper reported challenges: "The fire ring was pushed so far down in the mud we were unable to get good air flow to start a fire." Travelers used to RV amenities may want to bring portable fire pits as backups for problematic cabin fire rings.

Leveling requirements: RVers accustomed to self-leveling systems should note that cabin sites may present similar challenges. A visitor observed: "Our site was labeled slight slope. That was a joke. We were only off 2 inches side to side but front to back we had to lower the front 15 inches." Similar elevation issues may affect comfort in cabin sleeping areas.
