    Roundup Lake RV Resort

Great Lively Place with lots of Amenities

Starting off, everyone from the employees to the other campers were super friendly! My boyfriend and I rented The Park Model Cabin which was sort of a half trailer with a full bathroom and full kitchen. The bed was the only detractor of our trip, as it was mostly springs. We brought our air mattress in for the second night and slept much better. The themed weekends throughout the season are fun and festive and there are a lot of activities to do and participate!

    Camp Sandusky

    Very nice campgrounds!

There is so much structure and order to this campground! The grounds are laid out so nicely! One big circle with cross roads all along the way. You can camp however you'd like too! They have RV sites, tent sites and cabins. All mixed in together so you can travel with all your favorite campers. They do breakfast every morning in the front pavilion for $4.50 (all you can eat pancakes, 1 sausage and coffee) I haven't tried it yet, but its certainly popular. Laundry is open 24 hours a day and in an open area. Not the biggest fan of that due to needing to do laundry in the rain. Bathrooms are clean and standard. Row of toilet stalls and showers in a separate room. They have a stellar playground area, I don't have kids but even I was drawn to wanting to play on it. Very pet friendly around here. Close to downtown, near Cedar Point and all the other attractions over here. They have 2 pools, one being heated. We haven't had a bad rain storm while we're here but you can tell by the ground of our spot its going to be bad and super muddy. All in all this campground is pretty awesome.

    Lighthouse Point at Cedar Point

    Immaculate!

Absolutely beautiful RV park! Gorgeous views of Lake Erie and walking distance to the gate of Cedar Point. Beautiful landscaping and very clean. Staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Good little camp store with reasonable(ish) prices. Too chilly to swim but the pool looks nice. Bathhouses are updated, clean and very nice, but pretty far from about half of the sites. One section has premium sites with upgraded grills and fire pits and crazy good lake views. The regular sites are still well landscaped and each have a grill and an extra long picnic table, but no fire pit. You can bring your own fire pit if your site doesn't have one. No bikes or golf carts allowed on the grounds, but there are Cedar Point buses available day & night as well as rickshaws during the day. Until now I have held Disney World's Fort Wilderness as the penultimate place for camping but they could learn a few things from Cedar Point! We stayed five nights in a pull through sites, #231. I would love to snag a premium site for our next trip but it may be difficult because they allow you to book up five years in advance!

    Kelleys Island State Park Campground

    Vacation island campground

To reach Kelley's Island, you have to take the only ferry. Our round trip roundtrip fare for 3 adults and a vehicle was a around $100. It's around 25 mins across to the island. The island has about 500 full time residents. The road that runs up the center of the island, Division Street, starts a little west of the ferry stop and ends at the State Park. There are some small shops, restaurants, miniature golf, ice cream and fudge shops. There are golf cart rentals and lots of bikers and walkers on the island. You could walk the

The state park was beautiful. Filled with boaters, families and RVers. The bathrooms were clean, the park sold firewood and ice. There was an ice cream shop across from the entrance. Our tent spot was level. Quiet hours started at 11 pm. Unfortunately, people ignored it. I kept hoping the camp host would walk around and say something. Someone's car alarm went off at 5 am and the dogs got up and our day started. I would recommend watching the sunrise from the park benches at the water's edge. It was beautiful.

There were places to put your kayaks in as well as a boat launch by the park. People were fishing off the jetting that protects the swimming area.

It will get chilly at night, the sites on the edge of the water were windier. And bring your bug spray. Beautiful island, fun brewery on the island, sites are crowded. I would easily head back.

    Beautiful Campground

Very nice campground, it’s large so if you’re walking around, remember to take a map. The campground is right on the shore of Lake Erie, there are a few restaurants nearby. The sites vary in size, lots of shade trees where we camped. There are picnic tables and fire rings, some sites have FHUs, some standard electric, and of course, primitive.

    Cabins could be better

The bunk beds have very thin rv style bunk bed mattresses. And the master bed mattress was a weak memory foam. Needs to invest in better mattresses.

Guide to Avon

Camping cabins near Avon, Ohio sit primarily on flat topography ranging from 600-850 feet above sea level, with temperatures averaging 22°F in winter and 82°F in summer. The region features remnant glacial features including eskers and kettles that create interesting landscapes around camping areas. Most cabin facilities remain open from April through mid-October with limited winter availability.

What to do

Hiking woodland trails: Findley State Park Campground offers extensive trail networks through mature forests. "Wonderful state park with lots of trails and a lake. Took the kayaks out on the lake and had a great time," notes Linda R., highlighting the dual recreation options available to cabin guests.

Fishing in stocked ponds: Maple Lakes Campground maintains multiple fishing ponds with dedicated benches. Tracy L. explains, "This is a beautiful location. Lots of long term campers. Beautiful trees and the fishing lakes had lovely benches."

Beach swimming: East Harbor State Park Campground features a dedicated swimming area on Lake Erie. "Clean and full service! The campground is at the far end of the island so you will have to travel a bit to get around to the different sites and restaurants," according to one visitor who enjoyed the beach facilities.

Arcade gaming: American Wilderness Campground offers indoor recreation options when weather doesn't cooperate. Luis G. shared, "We loved the vibe here and the campground is nice and quiet and the clean restrooms and shower house was a plus we had a good time taking the kids to the arcade."

What campers like

Clean facilities: Timber Ridge Campgrounds receives consistent praise for cleanliness. "This campground was clean and the staff was friendly. We only stayed one night but had a pretty sight by the pond," reports Stacy E., highlighting the well-maintained facilities.

Modern cabin amenities: Kelleys Island State Park Campground cabins offer upgraded features compared to more rustic options. Rebecca F. explains, "Camp was well kept, clean, and helpful staff. Our campsite was easy to find and backed in with no problems. Our site was pretty open because it was one on the end in the back of the campgrounds."

Private site layouts: East Harbor State Park cabins provide more separation than typical cabin areas. "Large end of loop sites, but many sites to choose from!" notes one visitor who appreciated the spatial arrangement between accommodations.

Responsive staff: Sunset Lake Campground maintains helpful personnel. "The camp hosts were super friendly about helping get us arranged and everything we needed. Many long-term residents here and they seemed friendly and kept the place looking nice," according to Ro B.

What you should know

Reservation timing: Findley State Park fills quickly during summer months. Jeffrey L. advises, "Only downfall is trying to find an open spot for reservations. Place is booked most of the time. If you're planning a holiday weekend you need to book 6 months in advance."

Traci F. notes, "This is a very nice campground, we were able to get a group site with friends along a wooded section. Every night we were visited by raccoons, they stole our trash on the first night but the other nights we kept everything out of their reach."
