    Big Guys Campground

    Activities for all ages!

There is so much to do at this camp! They have a jump pillow, pool arcade, movie room, RC track, and bingo for everyone. They have live music at tavern on the property with great food! They have a disc golf field, fishing, and so many places to go on the golf carts! They also go in big on their themed weekends. Great place to go if you want the kids exhausted at the end of the day!!

Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill

    Inexpensive, Peaceful.

I've stayed here on 3 separate occasions, twice in RV 12 and once in RV 6.

I used the 30 AMP hookup and had zero issues.

Beautiful playground for my son to enjoy and meet other kiddos. Deer, chipmunks and rabbits will say hi in the early and late hours.

    Large dumpsters near entrance.

Dump stations are present, but I haven't used them yet.

Potable water is present at a small spigot.

The washrooms facility is very close and speaking for the men's side, it had 2 stalls, 2 urinals, 2 showers, multiple sinks, and a sturdy baby changing station.

Hiking trails with gorgeous views of the valley within a 5 min walk of my campsite.

    Hamlin Beach State Park Campground

    Relaxing 2 weeks

The camp store is closed along with no firewood and no laundry.

We stayed for 2 weeks and it was so relaxing. We loved biking through the loops and by the beach at the park. There was live music at the park during the week. The campground has an activity room full of things to do. As a state park, there are a lot of different people with different values, so be ready for the occasional obnoxious family. Our site was secluded and in the pines. We love it here and will definitely do this again!

    Stay Bristol Woodlands

    Well maintained and friendly Staff!

Campground is adorable, you can see a lot of other campers, but the spots are spaced out. Showers were nice, didn’t get to try the pool out as it was a quick stopover, but this seems like a fun place to spend some time

Bluff Camping Area — Fair Haven Beach State Park

Shaded camping with Great Lake access

I booked this site for one night and ended up staying three. Trying to avoid the heat, I was relieved that the shaded electric camping area staved off most of the days heat. I was in site 63 the first night and 68 the other two. 63 has more shade but 68 is right next to the bathroom and water spout if that’s important. I was able to find shade.

Some people may find the sites too close together, I didn’t mind since I’m solo camping and feel a bit of safety with closer neighbors. The loop was majority RVs and campers but it was still quiet all night and until late morning.

The showers and bathrooms are mostly clean and well stocked and there is a dedicated sink outside the building for dishes.

What I really loved is how far into the park the camping is, you’re really surrounded by woods. There is also excellent and easy access to Lake Ontario.

The park store has firewood, ice, and lots of other items like corn hole for rent. There is also a small boat shanty for boat rentals.

    SutterCreek Campground

    Close to the Ren Fest.

Sutter Creek is a 4 minute drive to the Renaissance Festival. The camp was very quiet and the owners were friendly and helpful. The activity room is for seasonal people only. The showers get locked at night, so prepare to showers in the AM. There are swings and a tether ball for the kids. Golf carts look to be welcome there, but it's not that big.

Guide to Webster

Camping options near Webster, New York extend beyond the main parks to include smaller, secluded properties with distinct amenities. Located along the southern shore of Lake Ontario at an elevation of 400 feet above sea level, the Webster area experiences warm summers with temperatures averaging 80°F and cold winters with significant lake-effect snowfall. Most campgrounds in the region operate seasonally from April through October due to harsh winter conditions.

What to do

Water activities on Lake Ontario: At Hamlin Beach State Park Campground, campers have direct lake access for swimming, fishing, and shoreline exploration. "Great access to the shores of Lake Ontario from campground. Also few mile stretch of beaches. Short but pretty nature trail through the woods opposite the lake as well that goes through hard words and into wetlands," notes Erin T.

Explore hiking trails: Many campgrounds offer interconnected trail systems for day hikes. "The park itself is beautiful. Created by the CCC during the new deal. The park is flanked by a nature trail on the South side and a trail on the north side. The park is big. If you're going to do the trails I recommend a bike," suggests Rino S. about Hamlin Beach State Park.

Visit nearby attractions: Canandaigua-Rochester KOA serves as a convenient base for exploring the Finger Lakes region. "This KOA has all that you need for a relaxing family trip. It is close to the finger lakes, is clean, has kid activities and a pond where the fish are easy to catch with hotdogs!" writes Amy T.

Canal-side recreation: Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort provides access to the historic Erie Canal waterway. "Kayak launches and boat marina nearby. The speed limit is 5 MPH and they mean it.... Kids on bikes and having a good time in the enormous play area and the pool far enough from the campsites but close to the store," explains Rachel T.

What campers like

Privacy between sites: Many campers appreciate the secluded feeling of sites at Lake Bluff RV Park. "Had a large, private plot in drumlin loop. Close to the beach which was very pretty and clean. Hiking trails, kayaking, and lots of other fun activities," shares Jay P.

Clean facilities: Bathroom and shower facilities receive consistently positive reviews. "The camp sites are wooded and private. Very quiet and peaceful. Clean and well maintained," reports Amanda M. about Webster Park.

Lake views and beach access: Several campgrounds feature direct water access. At South Shore RV Park, Jeff F. appreciates the "Quite campground, well maintained, clean bathhouse" and notes the "Amazing sunsets!"

Recreational amenities: On-site activities keep families entertained without leaving the campground. Victoria from Lake Bluff notes, "Kids activities are great. Even with COVID they have stuff to keep them busy. Large wooded sites are our favorite as well."

What you should know

Seasonal operation: Most Webster area campgrounds close during winter months. Creek n Wood in Bloomfield operates with limited dates, while South Shore RV Park remains open year-round.

Cell service limitations: Coverage can vary significantly between campgrounds. "Cell phone coverage is poor by Verizon and T-Mobile, and there is no WiFi, and no camp store (but the town of Webster is nearby)," notes Carl C. about Webster Park.

Drainage issues: Some sites may become muddy after rainfall. "We stayed 6 nights. There was an okay bathroom (a bit run down) and clean, separate hot showers nearby our site, but our site was muddy and numerous sites around us were muddy, too. There was standing water in the road way," reports Craig J. about Monroe County Webster Park.

Reservation requirements: Advance booking is essential, especially for summer weekends. Booking windows vary by campground, with most allowing reservations 6-12 months ahead.

Varied hook-up options: Electric service is common, but full hook-ups are limited. "We had an amazing time at this park! Friendly people, plenty for the kids to do. Playground in walking distance and private sites! We loved it here. Will definitely return. You need a long hose for fresh water in the RV. No sewer sites," mentions Janelle G. about Webster Park.

Tips for camping with families

Playground proximity: Select sites near recreational areas for easier supervision. "We stay close to the playground these days in our pop up usually at site 5 so our 5 and 9 year old can walk or ride to campground. We like site 1 as well. We stay on the outer ring on that side of loop as it gives access to the woods and trails behind the sites," advises Scott C. at Webster Park.

Kid-friendly camping loops: Some campgrounds feature designated areas better suited for families with young children. "The campground is very quiet and very kid friendly to allow them to walk around and ride or scooter the loop alone," notes Scott C.

On-site activities: The PineApple Farm offers cabin options for families not equipped for tent camping, with both standard and glamping accommodations available.

Safety considerations: Look for campgrounds with controlled traffic speeds. Rachel T. appreciates that at Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort, "The speed limit is 5 MPH and they mean it.... Kids on bikes and having a good time in the enormous play area."

Tips from RVers

Site size variations: Not all campgrounds accommodate larger rigs. "The sites in the loop we stayed in had about 75' between driveways, all with varying levels of trees/brush between them, very secluded," explains Benjamin C. about Hamlin Beach State Park.

Hookup locations: Water spigot placement may require extra equipment. "Sites are electric only but with a 100' hose you can reach a spigot from most any spot to re-fill the camper," advises Benjamin C.

Leveling challenges: Some campgrounds have uneven terrain. Donna C. notes about Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort: "Almost all of the sites are not even close to level. Not a big issue with a fifth wheel but a real hassle with a motorcoach. We changed sites three times and finally resigned ourselves to not being leveled."

Dump station availability: Creek n Wood offers convenient services for extended stays: "If you stay for an extended period, they offer free emptying at your site," reports Sheri S.
