Best RV Parks & Resorts near Rushville, NY

Several RV parks serve the Finger Lakes area surrounding Rushville, New York, with Indian Village RV Park located directly in Rushville offering seasonal camping from May through September. Nearby, Stay Bristol Woodlands provides 78 spacious RV sites with full hookups including 50-amp service, sewer connections, and clean shower facilities. Finger Lakes RV Resort in Hector features level gravel pads accommodating large motorhomes with both 30 and 50-amp electric service, plus water and sewer hookups at each site. Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort in Macedon operates from April through October with pull-through sites for big rigs, though site leveling can be challenging. "Almost all of the sites are not even close to level. Not a big issue with a fifth wheel but a real hassle with a motorcoach," noted one visitor.

RV sites at Southwoods RV Resort near Byron remain open until October 31st, providing dump stations and full hookups for late-season travelers exploring the region's wineries and lakes. Many campgrounds throughout the area offer daily trash pickup, clean bathhouses, and WiFi service strong enough for video calls. Access roads to several parks may present challenges, with some featuring gravel inclines that require careful navigation, especially for inexperienced drivers. Pet-friendly policies are standard at most locations, though specific breed restrictions may apply. Cell phone reception varies significantly between parks, with excellent coverage at parks near Canandaigua but limited service in more remote locations surrounding Seneca Lake.

Robert H. Treman State Park Campground

    Good location

Location: This park is close to Ithaca which was the best part. Trails and Natural Features: We loved the waterfall, swimming area (seasonal so closed when we stayed), and the fall colors. Sites: They have very few electric sites so we decided to boondock. It surprised me that all the full hookup sites were reserved but very people actually showed up for their reservations while we stayed. Lame. And heads up that if you don’t stay in the big clearing for big rigs, there are tight turns between trees to get in and out of the non-electric sites. We ended up making a back-in site into a pull-through site… whoops. Starlink: I work remotely so internet is important. We weren’t camping in the clearing because those sites were booked, but even the Starlink struggled where we were and I ended up working from the library in town. So heads up if you need internet. Bathrooms: They were spacious but older. Temperature in the showers was tricky. Hot is cold and cold it hot. Cool stuff: They had compost bins and provide bags for all campers. That’s cool!

    Finger Lakes RV Resort

Beautiful new spacious RV resort in excellent location.

We arrived on Saturday, 10.8.22 and are staying for a week. This is a delightful location. Rachel and Doug are cheerful, attentive, and very personable owners who are on-site at almost all times. This park just opened this year, so we checked in at an entrance building that they're using until their primary building is complete. We were greeted with delicious cookies, our site(#9) backs up to a wooded area(with a hiking path buried in there) with a lot of space. We booked early, which was a good thing because they were 100% full for Indigenous People's Day. We chose this site because there was a lot of room around it and we're used to really tightly packed RV parks. But what we found is that all of the sites are very nicely spread out with generous spacing, so that's not an issue. It's still nice to be on the outskirts. We also chose this section per a review we read to be away from the main road noise, but there really isn't much road noise to worry about, anyway. The WiFi is strong and consistent. We're using 30amps, but they also have 20 and 50amp service to each site. The water pressure is great. The bath house is new and very comfortable. Each site has a picnic table, a fire ring and lots of room for big rigs. We watched Doug neaten up sites after other RV's vacated, which shows an attention to detail we don't often find. They also drive by each site every morning to collect trash and recycling. The sunsets are spectacular over the lake(we can't see the lake from here, but it's close). There are numerous award-winning wineries surrounding us and up and down the lake. We're headed out for tastings today. We've been hiking the last few days- Watkins Glen State Park- Gorge Trail(go early or it gets REALLY crowded), Taughannock State Park- Gorge& North Ridge Trail over on Cayuga Lake, and a concert(Rufus Wainwright) at Point of the Bluff Winery over on Keuka Lake. We stopped afterward for dinner in Hammondsport at Timber Stone Grill which was truly wonderful. That's about 35- 45 minutes away. Lots more hiking trails to do in the National Forest and surrounding areas. And there's Watkins Glen, a charming town just minutes away. We highly recommend Finger Lakes RV Resort and we'll be back!

    Webster Park

    Close Family Camping

We go to webster park family campground several times a year for the past few years. Usually sometime in early May and in late October with an occasional day or two mid summer. It is a smaller single loop campground with sites for tents/small trailers, larger trailers, and motor homes. He difference is 30a power and no water or sewer, 50a power and water, and 50a power and water/sewer. There is a dump station. The motor home sites are all along the entrance road. The small and large trailer sites are distributed around the loop. Nice central playground and bathroom/shower house. There is hiking in the park, lots of nice woods, big field for playing games/sports. It’s close to town and home for us. We stay close to the playground these days in our pop up usually at site 5 so our 5 and 9 year old can walk or ride to campground. We like site 1 as well. We stay on the outer ring on that side of loop as it gives access to the woods and trails behind the sites. The campground is very quiet and very kid friendly to allow them to walk around and ride or scooter the loop alone.

They allow reservations online on the monroe county parks website, and are open May 1st to October 31st.

Blueberry Patch Campground — Green Mountain & Finger Lakes National Forests

    Simple

The only Finger Lakes National Forest designated campground, Blueberry Patch offers a secluded experience in the heart of this sometimes overlooked beautiful geographic region in the State of New York. This campground offers a simple experience, with fire rings and picnic tables at each site and seems to accommodate just tent and small campers. Vault toilets available. On a week day in early summer, 3 of the 9 campsites we’re occupied. Can see it filling up on weekends. Enjoy!

    Ferenbaugh Campground

    Relaxing place to stay

This CG has two distinct sections. Near the entrance is the Pull Through Area. Behind a row of trees there are several sites with full hookups including cable TV and Wi-Fi. The sites are open, reasonably level, and a good size. The other sites are in the woods, most of these sites do not have sewer connections. There is a honey wagon service available. We camped with a relative who was new and we were teaching them how to operate their camper. We had a couple of dry days then some rain. Still was a great teaching/learning experience.

Make sure you use a water filter, there was a lot of sediment in the water when we were there. See pictures of 4 days on a new cartridge.

We had a fantastic sunrise one morning.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Beautiful place

Letchworth is absolutely stunning. The views are beautiful, however the scenic areas are at least a 10 minute drive from the campground. The park is massive.

There is a huge variation in site sizes. We lucked out and got a large site with privacy and an area for the kids to run around, however the site directly across from us was little more than the gravel pad and fire pit. Some of the sites are right on top of each other. Great for group camping, not so much if you want any privacy.

Only two out of the 8 loops (200 and 700 loops) have updated bathrooms (single toilet with handheld showers in half of the bathrooms). The others loops have older facilities with three traditional toilet stalls and two showers.

We loved our site but would’ve preferred to stay in a loop with the updated bath houses as we have younger children and a tent trailer.

All sites have electricity. Some loops are pet friendly, some are pet free. The camp store has a good selection of necessities, albeit expensive for discount brands. The pool is 4-5 miles down the road from the camping area.

    Would absolutely camp here again.

    Southwoods RV Resort

    Enjoyed our stay

We stayed at Southwoods while visiting the Rochester, NY area and exploring attractions in the area. The campground is about 20-25 miles from downtown Rochester and located in a quiet rural setting surrounded by farmland. The campground is quite large and has separate sections for seasonal and transient campers and has a variety of different campsites from back-ins to pull-thrus, 50 to 30-amps, and full hook-up to water and electric only. The campground manager was very nice and helpful when we checked in and was able to extend our stay thru the weekend without us having to move sites. The park is gated and very clean and well-groomed.  Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Southwoods and would stay there again if we were in the area.

We chose a back-in 50-amp full hook-up site (M28) at $42/night. All the utilities were placed appropriately so we didn’t need any extensions. The water pressure and electric were good. Most of the roads in the park are paved with the exception of the pull-thru section in the front of the park (N12-N25) which is gravel. All campsite pads are gravel except for three long pull-thrus that are paved(M24-M26).

We had a fire pit and picnic table and there was nice grass between sites. There was free WiFi which worked well except during peak hours and over the weekend when the park was full. We stayed four nights (which included a weekend) and experienced the park going from half full and quiet to packed with lots of music, all-day fires, and big gatherings. In the back section of the park is a very large group/rally area with sixty sites and a large pavilion for gatherings. All sites in that section are on grass and water/electric.

The campground has lots of amenities like two swimming pools, nice camp store (with lots of food, souvenirs, and gifts), a large playground, miniature golf, sand volleyball and basketball courts, large recreation hall/wedding venue, bicycle track, and game room. There is a short nature trail through a wooded area. They have a busy events calendar throughout the year with lots of get-togethers. During our stay they had a closing weekend pizza and wings party with live music for a small fee. We chose not to go to the party but went to a local historic steak house (The Johnson House) and had delicious prime rib instead (which was very good) for a lot more money!

One downside of this park is that the sites are pretty close and feel a little cramped when the park is full. There is a train track near the park which occasionally is quite noisy. Rochester is about a 45-minute drive but the town of Batavia is about 15 minutes away and has groceries, fuel, restaurants, shopping, etc.

Guide to Rushville

RV camping near Rushville, New York occurs in the heart of the Finger Lakes region, where elevations range from 700 to 1,000 feet above sea level with a humid continental climate. The area experiences four distinct seasons with summer temperatures averaging 70-85°F during peak camping months. Most campgrounds in this region maintain operations from May through October, with limited options available during the early spring and late fall shoulder seasons.

What to Do

Winery visits via walking paths: Finger Lakes RV Resort offers unique access to neighboring vineyards. "They are bookended by two wineries with walking paths from the campground," notes Craig F., adding that this makes for "quiet and relaxing" evenings after wine tasting.

Waterfall exploration: Many campers use the area as a base for exploring natural formations. "We stayed at Finger Lakes RV Resort in Hector, a short drive from Watkins Glen and Ithaca, in search of waterfalls and wine in the Finger Lakes region of NY state," explains Matt S., who found it to be "a great place to stay for wine and waterfalls."

Canal-side recreation: The historic Erie Canal provides unique outdoor activities. At Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort, Rachel T. notes, "Kayak launches and boat marina nearby," making it easy to enjoy water activities without traveling far from camp.

What Campers Like

Spacious sites: Stay Bristol Woodlands receives consistent praise for its generous camping spaces. Donald R. commented on the "quiet friendly place," noting that "the new owners have brought this place to a new level" with improvements including "real Wi-Fi and a great pool."

Clean facilities: Bathroom quality varies between campgrounds, but several receive high marks. Jody M. specifically mentioned that at Stay Bristol Woodlands, "bathrooms clean and fully functional," while Steve A. wrote that at Finger Lakes RV Resort, "the bath house is immaculate and rivals those at Fort Wilderness Resort."

Family-oriented activities: Southwoods RV Resort focuses on family entertainment options. Hope C. described it as "Western New York's best kept secret" with "2 well kept pools, playgrounds, laundry facilities, mini golf, soccer, basketball."

What You Should Know

Site levelness varies significantly: At some parks, getting level can be challenging. For example, at Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort, Donna C. pointed out, "Almost all of the sites are not even close to level. Not a big issue with a fifth wheel but a real hassle with a motorcoach."

Seasonal operation limitations: Most campgrounds close for winter. Lake Bluff RV Park operates "April 15 to October 31," similar to most parks in the region. Some parks like Indian Village RV Park in Rushville limit their operations further to "May 1 to September 30."

Cell reception variability: Connectivity differs dramatically by location. At Finger Lakes RV Resort, Laura W. noted, "Wifi was strong enough to do work calls," but other parks deeper in rural areas have limited reception, particularly those in valleys or surrounded by hills.

Tips for Camping with Families

Pool access: When camping with children during summer, prioritize parks with swimming amenities. At Lake Bluff RV Park, Sara H. appreciates that they offer a "Pool, frog pond, catch and release fishing" along with "events for kids every weekend."

Playground proximity: Request sites near play areas for convenience. At Spruce Row Campground, facilities include a playground centrally located. One camper noted, "Near the play ground they have a nice game room pool, air hockey, video games. There is a change machine too."

Weekend programming: Many campgrounds schedule children's activities on weekends. Victoria mentioned that at Lake Bluff, "Kids activities are great. Even with COVID they have stuff to keep them busy."

Tips from RVers

Water pressure considerations: Bring pressure regulators as water systems vary between parks. Steve A. reported that at Finger Lakes RV Resort, "The water pressure is great," which could potentially damage RV plumbing without proper regulation.

Site selection for big rigs: When traveling with large RVs, research access roads carefully. Nancy W. observed at Southwoods RV Resort, "All campsite pads are gravel except for three long pull-thrus that are paved (M24-M26)," providing useful information for those with larger motorhomes seeking level sites.

Utility placement: Check hookup locations before booking. At Southwoods, Nancy W. appreciated that "All the utilities were placed appropriately so we didn't need any extensions. The water pressure and electric were good."
