There is so much to do at this camp! They have a jump pillow, pool arcade, movie room, RC track, and bingo for everyone. They have live music at tavern on the property with great food! They have a disc golf field, fishing, and so many places to go on the golf carts! They also go in big on their themed weekends. Great place to go if you want the kids exhausted at the end of the day!!

    Sugar Hill Fire Tower Campsite

    Free camping with amenities!

26 camp sites with bathrooms! That flush! Very quiet and the sites aren’t on top of each other. People bring their horses. You can drive to to your site and tent camp or camper camp. I would come back!

Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill

    Inexpensive, Peaceful.

I've stayed here on 3 separate occasions, twice in RV 12 and once in RV 6.

I used the 30 AMP hookup and had zero issues.

Beautiful playground for my son to enjoy and meet other kiddos. Deer, chipmunks and rabbits will say hi in the early and late hours.

    Large dumpsters near entrance.

Dump stations are present, but I haven't used them yet.

Potable water is present at a small spigot.

The washrooms facility is very close and speaking for the men's side, it had 2 stalls, 2 urinals, 2 showers, multiple sinks, and a sturdy baby changing station.

Hiking trails with gorgeous views of the valley within a 5 min walk of my campsite.

    Sleepy Hollow Lake Campground

    Kid friendly but Bee Problem

We had a lot of fun here and there’s a lot of activities for kids I would typically give this campsite 5 stars but our only problem was there were bees everywhere. I get some bees are apart of the camping experience and nature but we’ve never ran into this problem elsewhere. They were all over the campground it was very unpleasant and there was a nest under the playground we did advise management of.

    Woodstream Campsite

    Rip off

Have to stay at least 2 nights. Employees say one thing. Then boss charges me even though I was told it was okay. Aren't willing to reason with. Also traffic very loud at night

    Stay Bristol Woodlands

    Well maintained and friendly Staff!

Campground is adorable, you can see a lot of other campers, but the spots are spaced out. Showers were nice, didn’t get to try the pool out as it was a quick stopover, but this seems like a fun place to spend some time

Guide to Nunda

Camping spots near Nunda, New York provide access to the western Finger Lakes region and Genesee Valley. Situated at approximately 650 feet elevation, Nunda experiences four distinct seasons with summer temperatures averaging in the mid-70s to 80s. Most camping options operate seasonally from May through October with peak visitation coinciding with fall foliage viewing in late September.

What to do

Gorge hiking trails: Several campgrounds near Nunda offer access to dramatic gorge trails. At Stony Brook State Park Campground, visitors can experience waterfalls and unique rock formations. "We hiked the gorge trail and east trail. The gorge trail is very busy but you still can enjoy the beautiful waterfalls along with the gorge formation. The east trail goes up to the top of the gorge and is much quieter," reports one camper.

Water recreation options: Lakes and streams provide swimming opportunities beyond the standard pool amenities. Stony Brook features "a 'pool' carved from the mountain" and "creeks to cool off in," according to one reviewer. At Woodstream Campsite, "rafting on the creek" offers a distinctive water experience, with many sites positioned directly on the water.

Off-site attractions: The region contains multiple entertainment options within short drives. Near Conesus Lake Campground, families can find "a drive-in with 4 different screens, many places to eat, parks, a fun center with mini golf, go carts, batting cages, laser tag and arcade." The local flea market in Avon is noted as "HUGE" and worth visiting.

What campers like

Natural pool swimming: Many campers highlight the distinctive swimming options as standout features. One Stony Brook visitor mentions, "My favorite part about this park has to be their natural pool. It's beautiful and so refreshing." Another adds that beyond the dedicated swimming areas, there are "small pools for swimming" throughout the gorge trails.

Secluded wooded sites: For those seeking privacy, Evergreen Trails Campground offers deeply wooded camping options. "The sites are very secluded though and if you want some peace get one of the sites in the woods and have some time to yourself!" notes one camper. Another mentions crossing "a small foot bridge" to reach primitive sites surrounded by forest.

Seasonal festivities: Several campgrounds host special events throughout the camping season. At Jellystone Park of Western New York, "Halloween weekends are full of fun and fright!" while they also offer "the best fireworks for July 4." Similarly, Woodstream Campsite organizes a "Christmas in July weekend" with "cookie decorating to visits with Santa."

What you should know

Terrain considerations: The topography around Nunda creates challenges at some campgrounds. At Conesus Lake Campground, "the hill is a killer!" with one visitor noting, "The campground is on a very steep hill so it is difficult to walk around." Many visitors solve this by renting golf carts, which are available at several facilities.

Wildlife presence: Some campers report encounters with small wildlife at certain campgrounds. At Stony Brook, one visitor noted, "Most of the camp areas washed out from rain with water running through them. Rats and mice all over. As we were walking back from a trail rats were jumping in to the underside of the car."

Shower facilities vary: Bathroom and shower arrangements differ significantly between campgrounds. At The Ridge Campsite, facilities are described as "clean," while Woodstream features "outdated, but clean" bathrooms where "some of the showers cost a quarter and some don't, which was peculiar."

Tips for camping with families

Playgrounds and recreation: Family-friendly campgrounds typically offer multiple play areas. The Ridge Campsite provides "multiple fishing ponds, swimming pool and playgrounds" with "a nice little store for necessities and a snack shop." One family noted their kids "had so much fun on the playgrounds and with all of the other kids."

Swimming options for different ages: Campgrounds offer various water recreation suited to different age groups. At Stony Brook, families appreciate the "unique swimming area" that provides safe options for children. According to one parent, their children "used natural clay which my children used to make clay pots which air dried on the grass by our playground."

Organized activities: Letchworth State Park Campground and other sites provide scheduled events for families. Jellystone offers extensive programming where "there is something for everyone at this campground" with "activities galore for the kids." One visitor appreciated that Letchworth features "nice cabins to rent scattered around the park" for families seeking more comfortable accommodations.

Tips from RVers

Site sizing and access: Several campgrounds accommodate larger RVs, but access roads can present challenges. At The Ridge Campsite, "Driveway getting in and out is a little tight for big units, definitely have to swing wide. Sites are very big and clean." Another visitor confirmed the campgrounds are "large and spacious."

Hookup availability: Most established campgrounds offer electric hookups, though capacity varies. Letchworth State Park provides electric sites for RVs with some loops offering full hookups. One visitor noted that at Evergreen Trails, "I wish I had known the more wooded sites were water and electric. I had full hookup so it was kinda open for my liking."

Seasonal considerations: RV campers should prepare for limited operating seasons. Most campgrounds close by mid-October, with Conesus Lake Campground operating "May 15 to Oct 15" and Evergreen Trails running "May 1 - Oct 31." Winter camping options are extremely limited in the immediate Nunda area.
