    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Franklinville, New York provides a mix of established campgrounds and dispersed camping areas across western New York's scenic countryside. Triple R Camping Resort and Shamrock Pines Campground offer full-service facilities with amenities like swimming pools, playgrounds, and hookups for RVs, while East Otto State Forest provides free primitive camping for those seeking a more rustic experience. Several campgrounds in the area accommodate tent campers, RV enthusiasts, and cabin guests, with some locations like Arrowhead Campground featuring waterfront access along nearby creeks and rivers.

The camping season near Franklinville typically runs from early May through mid-October, with most established campgrounds closing for winter. East Otto State Forest and Boyce State Forest remain accessible year-round, though winter access may be challenging due to seasonal road conditions. According to one visitor to East Otto State Forest, "After sleeping in parking lots and rest stops, it is so nice to have a place where you don't fear law enforcement knocking at your car/tent, and it's FREE!" Travelers should note that while established campgrounds offer amenities like showers, water hookups, and electric service, the state forest camping areas provide minimal facilities with no drinking water, toilets, or trash removal. Cell service can be limited in more remote areas, particularly in the state forests.

The region's campgrounds frequently receive positive reviews for cleanliness and family-friendly atmospheres. Triple R Camping Resort earns consistent praise for its recreational options, with one camper noting it has "so much for kids to do with splash pad, pool, playground and Rec room." Sites at East Otto State Forest, while more primitive, are described as "clean and organized" with "spacious" designated spots that provide a sense of seclusion. Weather considerations include potentially muddy conditions during rainy periods, particularly in the state forests where one camper mentioned, "maybe non-rainy season is better for this site, my boots became very muddy." Most camping areas in the region provide convenient access to outdoor recreation opportunities including fishing, hiking, and exploring nearby attractions such as Letchworth State Park.

      Camp Seneca

      Secluded campsite

A bit buggy but nice otherwise. You have some evergreens, beech trees and some birch trees.

      Letchworth State Park Campground

Well run and beautiful state park

Stayed here in our Class B. Had a nice site in loop 4. Only complaint really is other guests cranking some kind of contemporary R&B with very loud bass, like we should all like their music. 4 sites away, it was pretty loud. The hiking, the falls were great. Tons to do, spectacular views. The park is 17 miles long folks. Camping is north, the falls are south. You can hike all the way down. Its perhaps one of the most impressive displays of CCC work i have seen. Stone tables, picnic pavilions, walls, steps, just amazing work and maintained nicely. Check is easy, plenty of places for trash, fresh water. Showers were not bad, two per building per gender. Of course i picked one that backed up so i was in standing water. I reported it and 24 hours later it was the same. Oh well it was hot and felt great and i didn’t get hoof and mouth disease or anything. One thing - MAJOR league poison ivy , everywhere, surrounding every campsite. Beware.

      Darien Lakes State Park Campground

      Friendly helpful staff, quiet spot

Large well maintained campground with many different types of sites. The staff is amazing and will help you find something - in person or by phone. Our site was tucked into the woods and felt very private. Lake for swimming, fishing, paddle boarding and kayaking. The bathrooms were dated but clean, with warm showers.

      Sugar Creek Glen Campground

      Site 71

This was our fourth trip to SCG and it’s always a blast. The water makes this campground such a great visit with kids.

Ankle deep water to play in all day and the waterfall hikes are great.

Restrooms are always very clean and the shower house was good too.

Owners and the general store are great.

      Skyline RV Resort

      Enjoyable location

I was to Skyline in May 2026 - Opening weekend. My site was on Pine, easy in and easy out. You are in a mix of seasonals and weekenders. First off, the check in was easy and quick, the woman at the desk was friendly and upbeat. I arrived to a campsite that was clean, very clean. The lot was grass and had a slight slop to it, the trailer spot was all gravel and level. it rained one day hard real hard and there was no real standing water. There are old trees on the sites all are trimmed up and clear of dead branches. You could get a 13'6" trailer in without worrying about branches. The facilities were in clean and in working order. There was a free chili dinner on Saturday night at the rec hall. They had the hockey playoffs on a big screen and a band also. You are out in the country at this spot, Alden is not too far up the road, you have most stores there for items needed.  Nice place!

      Shamrock Pines Campground

      Established and welcoming!

These people know what they are doing. We loved that the campground had its own music at the pool instead of dealing with everyone's individual speakers. The bathrooms were very clean and obviously cleaned every morning. The campground is huge and has great places for bikes or electric golf carts! They had great music and the other campers were very nice and respectful people. We stayed here as home base to visit Ellicotville and an Alpaca farm. Both were very close to the camp. I would love to visit again in the fall.

Campsite layout: At Campground Adventures, which features 50 sites, "This campground just changed hands and there alot of changes in store for the coming year's. It sets along the Ischua creek which has good fishing and kayaking."

Firewood considerations: Purchase firewood outside park boundaries for better value. A camper at Allegany State Park advised, "The park service asks you not to transport fire wood. We understand why, my problem is when you get to the park the small bundles way over priced 35$ lasted for a night. The next day we found camp wood 32"x60" rack for 15$ that lasted us 2 days."
