Best RV Parks & Resorts near Dansville, NY

Several RV parks near Dansville provide full hookup options for motorhomes and travel trailers. Letchworth State Park Campground, located about 15 miles west of Dansville, offers electric sites with 30 and 50-amp service across multiple loops, though without sewer hookups at individual sites. Southwoods RV Resort in Byron features level gravel pads with full hookups, including water, electric, and sewer connections, and accommodates big rigs with spacious pull-through sites. Finger Lakes RV Resort provides concrete pads at premium sites and maintains wide spacing between units, particularly in the perimeter areas. "Our site was a level gravel back-in site. The back-in sites are very wide and roomy, the pull-through sites are a little closer together."

Fall through spring access varies significantly among parks, with most operating from May through October. Dump stations are available at all major RV parks in the region, though visitors staying at Letchworth should note the central dump station location can create lines during busy checkout periods. Cell service remains reliable at most developed RV parks, with Verizon users reporting 3-4 bars at Southwoods and Finger Lakes resorts. Pet-friendly options exist throughout the area, though some loops at Letchworth are designated pet-free zones. Travelers with larger rigs should consider road conditions when planning routes, as some access roads feature steep grades or sharp turns, particularly when approaching parks in the higher elevations west of Dansville. Between May and October, weekend reservations are essential as the region's proximity to the Finger Lakes wine country draws significant RV traffic.

    Canandaigua-Rochester KOA

    Camping near Canandaigua, New York

Campers exploring the Canandaigua area discover a delightful mix of lakeside retreats, wooded state parks, and family-friendly RV resorts. Just minutes from downtown, Canandaigua City Park Campground offers easy access to local shops and the lakefront beach, making it a convenient base for those who want town amenities within walking distance. A short drive farther out leads to Keuka Lake State Park Campground and the privately owned Canandaigua-Rochester KOA, both of which feature spacious sites, clean facilities, and excellent opportunities for swimming, kayaking, and fishing on the Finger Lakes. For those seeking a quieter experience, numerous backcountry and dispersed sites are tucked into the surrounding National Forest, where campers can truly unplug—though it’s essential to bring all necessary supplies and practice Leave No Trace principles. Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill and the Stay Bristol Woodlands campground blend rustic charm with modern comforts: well-maintained restrooms, picnic shelters, and on-site hiking trails that wind through hardwood forests and offer scenic overlooks, especially stunning during fall foliage season. Travel logistics are a breeze when visitors prearrange an airport shuttle from Rochester or Syracuse airports, ensuring a smooth transition from plane to campsite. And for adventurers mapping out multiple stops across the Finger Lakes or beyond, reliable multi-city transfers provide comfortable, door-to-door rides—no rental car necessary. With its blend of waterfront sites, wooded hideaways, and nearby attractions—wineries, waterfalls, and historic villages—the Canandaigua region truly has something for every type of camper. Whether pitching a tent under the stars or rolling in with an RV, visitors will find endless opportunities for adventure and relaxation.

    Darien Lakes State Park Campground

    Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

    Finger Lakes RV Resort

Beautiful new spacious RV resort in excellent location.

We arrived on Saturday, 10.8.22 and are staying for a week. This is a delightful location. Rachel and Doug are cheerful, attentive, and very personable owners who are on-site at almost all times. This park just opened this year, so we checked in at an entrance building that they're using until their primary building is complete. We were greeted with delicious cookies, our site(#9) backs up to a wooded area(with a hiking path buried in there) with a lot of space. We booked early, which was a good thing because they were 100% full for Indigenous People's Day. We chose this site because there was a lot of room around it and we're used to really tightly packed RV parks. But what we found is that all of the sites are very nicely spread out with generous spacing, so that's not an issue. It's still nice to be on the outskirts. We also chose this section per a review we read to be away from the main road noise, but there really isn't much road noise to worry about, anyway. The WiFi is strong and consistent. We're using 30amps, but they also have 20 and 50amp service to each site. The water pressure is great. The bath house is new and very comfortable. Each site has a picnic table, a fire ring and lots of room for big rigs. We watched Doug neaten up sites after other RV's vacated, which shows an attention to detail we don't often find. They also drive by each site every morning to collect trash and recycling. The sunsets are spectacular over the lake(we can't see the lake from here, but it's close). There are numerous award-winning wineries surrounding us and up and down the lake. We're headed out for tastings today. We've been hiking the last few days- Watkins Glen State Park- Gorge Trail(go early or it gets REALLY crowded), Taughannock State Park- Gorge& North Ridge Trail over on Cayuga Lake, and a concert(Rufus Wainwright) at Point of the Bluff Winery over on Keuka Lake. We stopped afterward for dinner in Hammondsport at Timber Stone Grill which was truly wonderful. That's about 35- 45 minutes away. Lots more hiking trails to do in the National Forest and surrounding areas. And there's Watkins Glen, a charming town just minutes away. We highly recommend Finger Lakes RV Resort and we'll be back!

    Webster Park

    Close Family Camping

We go to webster park family campground several times a year for the past few years. Usually sometime in early May and in late October with an occasional day or two mid summer. It is a smaller single loop campground with sites for tents/small trailers, larger trailers, and motor homes. He difference is 30a power and no water or sewer, 50a power and water, and 50a power and water/sewer. There is a dump station. The motor home sites are all along the entrance road. The small and large trailer sites are distributed around the loop. Nice central playground and bathroom/shower house. There is hiking in the park, lots of nice woods, big field for playing games/sports. It’s close to town and home for us. We stay close to the playground these days in our pop up usually at site 5 so our 5 and 9 year old can walk or ride to campground. We like site 1 as well. We stay on the outer ring on that side of loop as it gives access to the woods and trails behind the sites. The campground is very quiet and very kid friendly to allow them to walk around and ride or scooter the loop alone.

They allow reservations online on the monroe county parks website, and are open May 1st to October 31st.

Blueberry Patch Campground — Green Mountain & Finger Lakes National Forests

    Simple

The only Finger Lakes National Forest designated campground, Blueberry Patch offers a secluded experience in the heart of this sometimes overlooked beautiful geographic region in the State of New York. This campground offers a simple experience, with fire rings and picnic tables at each site and seems to accommodate just tent and small campers. Vault toilets available. On a week day in early summer, 3 of the 9 campsites we’re occupied. Can see it filling up on weekends. Enjoy!

    Ferenbaugh Campground

    Relaxing place to stay

This CG has two distinct sections. Near the entrance is the Pull Through Area. Behind a row of trees there are several sites with full hookups including cable TV and Wi-Fi. The sites are open, reasonably level, and a good size. The other sites are in the woods, most of these sites do not have sewer connections. There is a honey wagon service available. We camped with a relative who was new and we were teaching them how to operate their camper. We had a couple of dry days then some rain. Still was a great teaching/learning experience.

Make sure you use a water filter, there was a lot of sediment in the water when we were there. See pictures of 4 days on a new cartridge.

We had a fantastic sunrise one morning.

    Colden Lakes Resort

    Beautiful Campground

This a beautiful campground with very friendly staff. Our site was a level gravel back in site. The back in sites are very wide and roomy, the pull through sites are a little closer together. There are 4 small pristine lakes. It’s about an hour from Niagara Falls and out in the Country, very quiet and peaceful. Would definitely come back

Guide to Dansville

RV camping near Dansville, New York offers options within 15-25 miles of town at elevations ranging from 600-1,200 feet. The region's Allegheny Plateau geography creates varied camping terrain with moderate summer temperatures averaging 75-85°F during peak camping season. Campgrounds typically receive 35-40 inches of annual rainfall, creating lush surroundings during the May-October camping season.

What to do

Hiking at Letchworth: Experience the "Grand Canyon of the East" at Letchworth State Park Campground, located about 15 miles west of Dansville. "Wandering around the gorge is so beautiful and relaxing the views and sights inside the park are amazing, it's almost like another world at times," notes one camper. The park features multiple hiking trails accessible directly from campsites.

Winery visits: Finger Lakes RV Resort provides convenient access to local wineries. "Two wineries are even walkable! Owners are clearly dedicated to excellence," shares one visitor. The resort is strategically positioned for wine country exploration with walking paths directly connecting to neighboring wineries.

Recreational activities: Seasonal campers enjoy family-friendly amenities at nearby parks. "Family friendly park, lots of activities, park hosts/owners are hands on and awesome," reports a visitor to Southwoods RV Resort. Many campgrounds feature recreational halls, sports areas, and scheduled weekend activities during summer months.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Campers appreciate ample room between sites at Stay Bristol Woodlands. "Campground is adorable, you can see a lot of other campers, but the spots are spaced out," notes a recent visitor. Sites include standard amenities like picnic tables and fire rings, with level pads for easier setup.

Clean facilities: Bathhouse cleanliness ranks high on campers' priority lists. "The bath house is immaculate and rivals those at Fort Wilderness Resort," reports one guest at Finger Lakes RV Resort. Several campgrounds feature updated bathroom facilities with private shower stalls rather than communal shower areas.

Personalized service: Campground owners often provide personal touches that enhance stays. "We were greeted with delicious cookies, our site(#9) backs up to a wooded area with a lot of space," shared one Finger Lakes RV camper. Many smaller operations have owner-operators who live on-site and provide daily trash pickup and site maintenance.

What you should know

Reservation timing: Summer weekends fill quickly, especially at popular parks. "This is a popular park so make reservations," advises a camper at Letchworth State Park Campground. Most campgrounds open reservations 6-9 months in advance, with holiday weekends booking particularly fast.

Site leveling considerations: Not all campgrounds offer perfectly level sites. At Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort, "Almost all of the sites are not even close to level. Not a big issue with a fifth wheel but a real hassle with a motorcoach," reports one camper. Bringing extra leveling blocks may be necessary at some locations.

Seasonal operations: Most RV parks in the region operate seasonally. "We stayed here on 9/19 after spending the day hiking at Letchworth. Campground there was booked, and we preferred not to drive home," notes a visitor to Maple Lane RV Park. Plan ahead as most facilities close between late October and early May.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Southwoods RV Resort provides multiple play areas for children. "Bathrooms were very clean. Quiet campground. Lots of plays areas for kids," notes a recent visitor. Some campgrounds have dedicated children's recreation areas separate from main camping loops.

Swimming options: Pools provide relief during hot summer days. "We stayed at this Jewel of a campground for years. The new owners have brought this place to a new level. Great amenities, real Wi-Fi and a great pool," reports a Stay Bristol Woodlands camper. Pool operating hours typically run from 10am-7pm during summer months.

Kid-friendly activities: Many parks schedule weekend events for families. "Weekend sites would be pretty tight together if they were fully booked. Golf carts not available," mentions one Southwoods visitor. Check activity calendars when booking, as scheduled events primarily happen on summer weekends.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: RVers recommend specific campground sections for more privacy. "We chose a back-in 50-amp full hook-up site (M28) at $42/night. All the utilities were placed appropriately so we didn't need any extensions," notes one experienced RVer at Southwoods. End sites and perimeter locations typically offer more space and fewer neighbors.

Utility placement: Electric and water hookup locations vary by campground. "We're using 30amps, but they also have 20 and 50amp service to each site. The water pressure is great," reports a visitor to Finger Lakes RV Resort. Check whether you'll need extension cords or extra-length water hoses when booking.

Noise considerations: Train tracks and roads can affect some camping areas. "There is a train track near the park which occasionally is quite noisy," notes a camper at Southwoods RV Resort. Sites further from main roads or railroad tracks provide quieter experiences, especially for light sleepers.
