Best RV Parks & Resorts near Cortland, NY

Multiple RV parks accommodate motorhomes and travel trailers within 30 miles of Cortland. The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone features spacious pull-through sites with 30/50-amp electric hookups, water, sewer connections, and level gravel pads suitable for big rigs. Owasco Hill RV Campground offers seven sites with full hookups operating from May 15 to October 15. "Sites are level and great size with nice spacing in between. The campground was beautiful and easy to get in and out of," noted one RV owner who stayed at The Villages. Pine Valley RV Park near Endicott provides pull-through sites with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer, operating seasonally from May through September.

Advance reservations are strongly recommended during summer weekends and fall foliage season when RV sites fill quickly. Most parks in the region provide sanitary dump stations, with Finger Lakes RV Resort, Spruce Row Campground, and The Villages RV Park offering on-site dumping facilities. Cell service varies significantly throughout the area's valleys and hills. Verizon coverage tends to be more reliable at most parks, though signal strength can be weak in more remote locations. Nearly all RV parks in the region allow pets, though some maintain breed restrictions or designated pet areas. Winter camping options are extremely limited, as most facilities close between mid-October and early May due to harsh New York winters and potential road access difficulties.

Robert H. Treman State Park Campground

    Good location

Location: This park is close to Ithaca which was the best part. Trails and Natural Features: We loved the waterfall, swimming area (seasonal so closed when we stayed), and the fall colors. Sites: They have very few electric sites so we decided to boondock. It surprised me that all the full hookup sites were reserved but very people actually showed up for their reservations while we stayed. Lame. And heads up that if you don’t stay in the big clearing for big rigs, there are tight turns between trees to get in and out of the non-electric sites. We ended up making a back-in site into a pull-through site… whoops. Starlink: I work remotely so internet is important. We weren’t camping in the clearing because those sites were booked, but even the Starlink struggled where we were and I ended up working from the library in town. So heads up if you need internet. Bathrooms: They were spacious but older. Temperature in the showers was tricky. Hot is cold and cold it hot. Cool stuff: They had compost bins and provide bags for all campers. That’s cool!

    Pine Cradle Lake Family Campground

Great campground in PA northern tier

The owners do a fantastic job keeping the campground shipshape. Restrooms/showers are immaculate any time of day. Heated swimming pool and the splash pad for kiddies is spotless as well. Nice, pull-through on gravel pad withfull-hookups that can take large rigs. Lake is lovely for fishing/kayaks/canoes. Seasonal campers are tidy. Only a few tent sites with water & electricity tucked into woods. Larger pull-through sites don't get a lot of shade, but there are back-in sites for shorter campers in wooded sites and shaded lake front, as well. Campground store sells ice-cream & nachos and supplies. Campground is pretty quiet during the week, but fills up on weekends with guests using own (or renting) golf carts. Activities on weekends. The campground sits atop one of NEPA's "rolling hills" in quiet, rural farming area. Cell service is spotty. Local winery/cafe just down the road for tastings and lunch. Row boat, paddle boat rentals.

    Chenango Valley State Park Campground

Well maintained NY state campground; good for family camping

We were just passing through on a rainy night, but this park would be a good choice for a multi-night stay.

    Activities for a Multi-Day Stay

    • Swimming in the lake, golfing, boating, fishing, multi-use trails for hiking or mountain biking

    • You're only about 20 minutes from the Binghamton/Johnson City area. For us, that means food and craft beer.

Sites in the Chipmunk Camping Area

    • Parking pads in the non-electric section are dirt/grass. Some of the pads are short; this section is geared toward tent campers. We found a site long enough to easily accommodate our vehicle and teardrop trailer (30 ft total) since we didn't want to detach for a one night stay. Even if the pad wasn't that long, there are other pads wide enough to handle a vehicle and trailer like ours side by side.

    • Parking pads in the electric loops (30 amps and 50 amps) have a good amount of gravel.

    • We usually prefer sites on the outer part of a loop, and this was no exception. The sites have more trees.

    Amenities

    • Electricity at about 1/3 of the sites

    • Pretty good restrooms/showers

    • Water spigots on the loops and more water at the dump station

    • Trash disposal

    • Playground at the beach area, not the campground

    Wildlife

    • Beware of raccoons. They are brazen thieves here...and every campground they inhabit. Just don't leave your food out.

    • The park brochure warns of the occasional bear but that's true even in towns all over NY. I doubt you'll see one.

    • Deer are all over. Watch out for them on the roads. We had four that were feeding behind our site in the morning.

    Finger Lakes RV Resort

Beautiful new spacious RV resort in excellent location.

We arrived on Saturday, 10.8.22 and are staying for a week. This is a delightful location. Rachel and Doug are cheerful, attentive, and very personable owners who are on-site at almost all times. This park just opened this year, so we checked in at an entrance building that they're using until their primary building is complete. We were greeted with delicious cookies, our site(#9) backs up to a wooded area(with a hiking path buried in there) with a lot of space. We booked early, which was a good thing because they were 100% full for Indigenous People's Day. We chose this site because there was a lot of room around it and we're used to really tightly packed RV parks. But what we found is that all of the sites are very nicely spread out with generous spacing, so that's not an issue. It's still nice to be on the outskirts. We also chose this section per a review we read to be away from the main road noise, but there really isn't much road noise to worry about, anyway. The WiFi is strong and consistent. We're using 30amps, but they also have 20 and 50amp service to each site. The water pressure is great. The bath house is new and very comfortable. Each site has a picnic table, a fire ring and lots of room for big rigs. We watched Doug neaten up sites after other RV's vacated, which shows an attention to detail we don't often find. They also drive by each site every morning to collect trash and recycling. The sunsets are spectacular over the lake(we can't see the lake from here, but it's close). There are numerous award-winning wineries surrounding us and up and down the lake. We're headed out for tastings today. We've been hiking the last few days- Watkins Glen State Park- Gorge Trail(go early or it gets REALLY crowded), Taughannock State Park- Gorge& North Ridge Trail over on Cayuga Lake, and a concert(Rufus Wainwright) at Point of the Bluff Winery over on Keuka Lake. We stopped afterward for dinner in Hammondsport at Timber Stone Grill which was truly wonderful. That's about 35- 45 minutes away. Lots more hiking trails to do in the National Forest and surrounding areas. And there's Watkins Glen, a charming town just minutes away. We highly recommend Finger Lakes RV Resort and we'll be back!

Blueberry Patch Campground — Green Mountain & Finger Lakes National Forests

    Simple

The only Finger Lakes National Forest designated campground, Blueberry Patch offers a secluded experience in the heart of this sometimes overlooked beautiful geographic region in the State of New York. This campground offers a simple experience, with fire rings and picnic tables at each site and seems to accommodate just tent and small campers. Vault toilets available. On a week day in early summer, 3 of the 9 campsites we’re occupied. Can see it filling up on weekends. Enjoy!

    Ferenbaugh Campground

    Relaxing place to stay

This CG has two distinct sections. Near the entrance is the Pull Through Area. Behind a row of trees there are several sites with full hookups including cable TV and Wi-Fi. The sites are open, reasonably level, and a good size. The other sites are in the woods, most of these sites do not have sewer connections. There is a honey wagon service available. We camped with a relative who was new and we were teaching them how to operate their camper. We had a couple of dry days then some rain. Still was a great teaching/learning experience.

Make sure you use a water filter, there was a lot of sediment in the water when we were there. See pictures of 4 days on a new cartridge.

We had a fantastic sunrise one morning.

    Watkins Glen State Park Campground

Watkins Glen State Park, New York

Campers arriving at Watkins Glen State Park are immediately captivated by its dramatic gorge scenery, where 19 waterfalls cascade through narrow stone walls. Their campsites are nestled among hardwood forests, offering a perfect balance of sunlit clearings and shady retreats. Each site comes equipped with a picnic table and fire ring, making it easy to prepare meals after a day spent exploring the park’s famous Gorge Trail. The park’s facilities blend rustic charm with modern comforts: clean flush toilets, hot-water showers, and convenient potable water stations. Hiking enthusiasts appreciate the interconnected trail system, which includes the popular Rim Trail for elevated views of the gorge, as well as more secluded footpaths through hemlock groves. Families particularly enjoy the nearby swimming pool and easy-access picnic areas overlooking Seneca Lake. To simplify travel logistics for out-of-state visitors, many campers opt to pre-book an airport transfer so they can arrive at Ithaca or Elmira–Corning Regional Airport and head straight to the park without the hassle of car rentals. Those planning to explore multiple stops along the Finger Lakes often choose the provider’s reliable city-to-city rides for comfortable, door-to-door transportation between destinations. All in all, Watkins Glen State Park delivers an unforgettable combination of awe-inspiring gorge hikes, well-appointed campsites, and family-friendly amenities. Campers seeking both adventure and relaxation will find this New York treasure hard to surpass.

Guide to Cortland

Seasonal RV sites near Cortland, New York typically operate from May through October, with most facilities closing during harsh winter months. The region sits in the central Finger Lakes area at elevations between 1,100-1,300 feet, creating rolling terrain with valleys that affect cell reception. Summer temperatures average 70-85°F during peak camping season, while fall brings cooler nights in the 40-50°F range and vibrant foliage displays.

What to do

Water recreation on Owasco Lake: Fillmore Glen State Park Campground, located 15 miles from Cortland, offers access to nearby Owasco Lake with opportunities for kayaking and swimming. "We came for a couple nights to check it out and stayed for over a week! From the gorgeous hike up the gorge to kayaking at sunset on Owasco Lake to enjoying some wine from the grapes grown in the region, the Finger Lakes region is hard to beat for total family entertainment," writes one camper.

Hiking gorge trails: Trails ranging from easy to moderate difficulty wind through the area's distinctive gorges. "Fillmore Glen State Park is a beautiful little park with wonderful trails, swimming pool, and activities for kids," notes a visitor. Some trails feature multiple waterfalls and natural swimming areas that are popular during summer months.

Wine tasting excursions: Finger Lakes RV Resort provides convenient access to regional wineries. "Located about 1/3 of the way up the eastern side of Seneca Lake, the location provides easy access to the wineries, distilleries, and breweries along the lake," explains one reviewer. Some campgrounds even offer direct walking paths to nearby wineries.

What campers like

Spacious RV sites: Many visitors appreciate the well-designed sites at RV parks near Cortland. At The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone, reviewers note, "Spacious FHU sites. Pull thru and back ins" and "The sites were level and great size with nice spacing in between." These larger sites accommodate various RV sizes without feeling cramped.

Clean facilities: Campground cleanliness ranks high in camper satisfaction. "Bathrooms are very clean and close to all campsites," reports a Fillmore Glen visitor. Another reviewer at Finger Lakes RV Resort commented, "This is a family owned campground and the owners were very friendly and took pride in their business... The bath house is immaculate and rivals those at Fort Wilderness Resort."

Convenience to attractions: Many campgrounds provide strategic locations for exploring the region. "Great location in the middle of wine country with many destinations very close. Two wineries are even walkable!" notes one camper about Finger Lakes RV Resort. Others appreciate proximity to small towns with services and shopping.

What you should know

Seasonal operation limitations: Most RV parks in the Cortland area have limited operating seasons. Pine Valley RV Park & Campground operates "May 1 to September 30," while Owasco Hill RV Campground runs "May 15th to October 15th. Off season may be available on request." Very few options exist for winter camping.

Crowding during peak seasons: Expect busy conditions during summer weekends and special events. "We were traveling the week of July 4th so there were limited sites available," notes a camper at Spruce Row Campground. Fall foliage season also brings increased visitor numbers to the region.

Noise considerations: Some campgrounds experience noise from nearby roads or railroad tracks. At The Villages RV Park, a camper notes, "The only real negatives would be the proximity to some railroad tracks, which can be somewhat active and very audible in some spots (you'll want to stay towards the south/front of the park if this kind of thing bothers you)."

Tips for camping with families

Swimming options: Spruce Row Campground and other parks offer swimming facilities that kids enjoy. At Fillmore Glen State Park, "Kids loved the park and swimming in the waterfall beach," reports one family. Natural swimming areas provide unique alternatives to traditional pools.

Playground access: Several campgrounds feature playgrounds and open spaces for children. "The grassy field is great for kiddos to run-amok and there is a playground at the far end of it so parents can keep an eye on the kids while enjoying time with their friends and family," notes a visitor to Fillmore Glen State Park.

Family-friendly activities: Organized events keep children entertained throughout summer. Pine Valley RV Park offers family-centered recreation: "This is by far one of the best family oriented campgrounds we've ever been in. The staff, the grounds, the amenities made me wish we were closer. So many things for kids to do. From boating, to giant swimming inflatables, putt putt even a giant slide."

Tips from RVers

Site selection for comfort: RVers recommend specific areas within campgrounds for the best experience. At The Villages RV Park, "If this kind of thing bothers you, you'll want to stay towards the south/front of the park" to avoid train noise. Sites on the periphery often provide more space and privacy.

Hookup availability: Full-hookup sites are available at multiple campgrounds, but with varying amperage options. Butternut Hill RV Campground offers "electric hookups, fifty-amp hookups, thirty-amp hookups" while other parks may have limited electrical service options. Confirm your specific power requirements when booking.

Seasonal flexibility: Some RV parks offer extended-stay options. "If you wanted to camp here at a non-event time, you would find it to be a quiet pastoral location with access to some hiking and fishing spots in close proximity," notes a visitor to Butternut Hill RV Campground. Sites can be reserved "on a daily, weekly or even monthly basis" at some locations.
