Best RV Parks & Resorts near Zephyr Cove, NV

Several RV campgrounds serve the Lake Tahoe region near Zephyr Cove. Tahoe Valley Campground in South Lake Tahoe offers full hookup sites with electric, water, and sewer connections under tall trees year-round. Sites accommodate various RV sizes though some spots have limited width due to trees. "Easy to access, even for larger rigs. We stayed in 39 foot 5th wheel. Plenty of pull thru spots, full hookups, regularly spaced bathroom/showers," noted one visitor. Silver City RV Resort in Minden provides big-rig friendly sites with 50-amp electrical service approximately 20 miles from the lake. Carson Valley Inn RV Resort offers similar amenities with water and sewer hookups in a casino setting, while RV Village Campground at Camp Richardson Resort provides electric hookups closer to the lake but with more restrictions.

Advance reservations are essential during summer months when lakeside RV parks reach capacity quickly. Most campgrounds in the area maintain accessible dump stations, though winter visitors should note that water connections may be unavailable during freezing conditions. Sites throughout the region vary considerably in price, with lakeside locations commanding premium rates between $65-130 per night for full-hookup spots. Pet policies differ between facilities—Tahoe Valley welcomes pets with a dedicated dog park, while RV Village Campground restricts pets entirely. Cell service remains reliable at most major RV parks, though reception may weaken at facilities nestled deeper in forested areas. A review mentioned that "sites are dusty which made us swipe every single day our rental RV," highlighting the fine, ash-like soil common to some Tahoe campgrounds.

    Silver City RV Resort

    Convenient location with great amenities

Great location if you want to be near Costco and the capital city.  Great views of the Sierras and the Carson valley.  Sites are narrow, about twice the width of your RV, and separated by chain link fencing.  But all sites are perfectly flat, paved pull-throughs; easy in, easy out parking.  Also electric, water, sewer hookup, cable and strong wifi and cell service.  Sites are gravel, but the campground has nice grassy dog parks, clean bathrooms and laundry, and well-stocked store with propane refill.  Pool and fishing pond were closed but looked great.  We were there in early April 2021; with our binoculars we could see skiers at the top of Heavenly Mountain ski area!

    Topaz Lake RV Park

    Wonderful private RV campground

We spend a month here every year and several weekends, too. It’s clean, the host, Julie, is very friendly and the spaces are great. Plenty of space for our 34’ travel trailer. Full hookups - water, electric and sewer and Cable tv, plus decent wifi. No fires are allowed, but you are right on the lake, with two docks and a beach with shade everywhere and amazing views, so who cares? There is a fish cleaning station, a laundromat, bathrooms with toilets and pay showers. There is also a small store and a freezer full of delicious ice cream treats. Pet friendly as long as your pets are leashed. There are two docks and you can dock your boat for a few. We leave our kayaks on the beach. Everyone is really friendly and Chuck, the maintenance man, could not be nicer or more helpful! He is a treat to chat with! A picnic table at every site, trees at every site and the lake has great fishing and boating. Can you tell we love this place?

    Sparks Marina RV Park

    Nice place to visit

Nice level concrete pads for travel trailers, they also have pull through sites for diesel pushers. Both 30 and 50 amp sites along with cable on the pedestals, make sure you bring your own cable to connect to the pet store or they’ll charge you $4.95 for a cable cord. Large clean bathrooms, with a laundry facility that is open 24 hours a day. Upon checking in, staff will guide you to your site and assist you in backing in to your campsite or guide you through the pull through site. They explain all the rules which are typical and show you the location of your pedestal and your sewer hook ups. Wi-Fi is strong and if there are not a lot of people at the campsite you can stream to a television which is the first time in a long time. Unfortunately when the weekends come in the campsite gets full Wi-Fi signal does degrade quite significantly. The bathrooms are well-maintained and constantly cleaned, staff is very friendly and they have a small camp in store for you to pick up small supplies. If you need anything larger there is RV country which is located basically across the street at legends which is a rather large shopping mall area. There are plenty of places to go out and eat if you would like such as outback steakhouse, Olive Garden, BJ’s and of course there is a plethora of fast food restaurants available in the area as well. The campsites are flat and level and have a picnic table with artificial turf next to your campsite. I’ll just say that the sites are very cozy. Very quiet camp area staff is very friendly and helpful

    Sparks Marina RV Park

Great Urban RV Park, best in Reno Area

The Reno area is our home base, we are full time RVers in a 35 foot long fifth wheel.  We come to Sparks Marina RV Park whenever we are in town visiting family, and we typically stay for at least a month or sometimes two months.  We have visited ALL of the RV parks in the vicinity, and in Carson City to the south.  By far this is the best place in the area.  The sites are not at all outdoorsy, it is more of an urban feel, with a concrete pad and fake grass, but each site has a tree which is nice for shade in the hot summers.  The circulation works well and if you have a pull through you have two parking options for your tower/toad vehicle.  The spaces are long enough for the larger rigs, and are wide enough for all of the slides, even on both sides, and for awnings to go out.  Staff here is EXCELLENT.  We are always treated well, and we like how they are always there to help.  The office has some supplies for sale, and the laundry room and bathrooms are the CLEANEST we have ever seen.  Facilities are modern.  Rec room has ping pong, and pool, a large screen tv as well.  There is a small pool and hot tub, which gets a lot of use when open.  They do not allow tents.  They have a pretty robust WiFi system, and all cellular options are available in the area, so internet is not a problem.  Prices are higher than other options but the location is excellent, staff is excellent and they do a good job of security as well.  We feel safe here, and it is always clean.

    Zephyr Cove Resort

Took one look at my site, and left.

Booked a tent site. The campground was completely full. My fire ring was at the bumper of my vehicle, the picnic table was basically in someone else’s campsite, and I had to walk up a flight of stairs where the tent site was supposed to be. The site on one side of me looked down on top of me from 10 feet away, the RV site next to me was crammed on top of me as well. Their front porch was basically staring right at my site, like I would be there entertainment for the night.

I had planned to camp out of the back of my truck for a quick overnight stay. Lots of better options around.

It is nice that it is walking distance from Zephyr Cove. But Zephyr Cove was packed. Nevada beach was only a four minute drive away and much more spacious and relaxing.

$67, plus taxes and fees, for no services and being packed in like sardines, no thanks.

    Crystal Springs Campground

Camping under giant sequoias! What more could you want?

Beautiful, wild forest camping under huge sequoia trees in a well maintained campground with fairly well separated sites. Flush toilets and garbage disposal but no dump station or electrical or water hookups. Definitely not for big rigs and I have a teardrop trailer and my Outback which are almost 30 ft and it was quite a challenge

    Zephyr Cove Resort

    Family fun for all ages

Excellent spot for the whole family. Beware, if you are pulling a trailer brush up on your backing up skills. Very tight and narrow. Best time to get in the park is during the day. Not much difference between back in sites versus pull through sites. Very clean facilities. Close to everything. Everyone is nice and friendly. #162 is a good level site for RV.

    Washoe Lake State Park Campground

    Great stop over

Spent the night here on a road trip. 30$ for non Nevada resident but includes full hookups except water was shut off for the season. Flat, wide spaces with mostly pull throughs, clean bathrooms and shower. Convenient credit card pay system. Also a dump station.

    Bordertown Casino RV Resort

Well maintained, clean CG, friendly helpful staff

We are full-timers and have a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow. Since we had been boondocking for a while, we stayed for 3 nights in site 41 in mid May as a waypoint and an opportunity to dump, fill, do laundry, etc., as well as visit the casino. The CG is medium size, with a narrow strip of nice grass and a table(no chairs) between the sites, which are quite close- slides out, about 8-10. The CG is quiet, except for some road noise on US 365. The internal roads are a little narrow, although not too bad, but some of the turns are rather tight. All but a couple of sites are pull-throughs. AT&T service was fair with 2-3 bars of 5G and speeds up to about 20 MB/s. The CG WiFi was just ok, depending on your needs, with speeds up to 0.5 MB/s. Starlink had speeds up to 20 MB/s. We had DISH coverage on all of the western satellites. We didn’t try any OTA channels with our fixed omni antenna. As mentioned by others in their reviews, the sewer connections are slightly recessed, centered in concrete bowls; it was a challenge to get a good connection with a right-angle connector.

Guide to Zephyr Cove

Seasonal RV parking options near Zephyr Cove range from lakeside resorts to casino properties throughout Carson Valley. Located on the eastern shore of Lake Tahoe at 6,200 feet elevation, the area experiences heavy winter snowfall from November through April that can affect campground accessibility and water connections. Summer temperatures typically range from 70-85°F during peak camping season.

What to do

Hiking access: RV Village Campground at Camp Richardson Resort offers proximity to numerous trail networks within walking distance of campsites. "Very close walk down to the Lake and the Beacon restaurant where you can have world famous RumRunner. Campground had hot showers," notes Janet G., highlighting the balance of outdoor activities with amenities.

Beach activities: The shoreline access at RV Village Campground At Camp Richardson Resort makes water sports convenient without moving your vehicle. One camper reported, "This is my favorite spot to enjoy the lake! The people are so friendly here! We stayed at a hotel a block up the street and they had partnered with this beach."

Mountain exploration: Winter visitors can see skiers on nearby slopes from Silver City RV Resort in Minden. "Great location if you want to be near Costco and the capital city. Great views of the Sierras and the Carson valley. Sites are narrow, about twice the width of your RV, and separated by chain link fencing," explains a reviewer who visited in April.

What campers like

Quiet escapes: Despite being located about 20 miles from Lake Tahoe, Silver City RV Resort earns praise for its tranquil setting. "Very clean with lots of amenities....laundry, pool, exercise room, meeting room, showers, and even a fishing pond. Sites all have picnic tables but very little privacy or green space," according to Rich J.

Family programs: Tahoe Valley Campground organizes regular activities for campers of all ages. "Super busy campground with kids running around and riding bikes. They put on a ton of events like karaoke nights, live music, and smores nights. Hot showers and well lit clean bathrooms. Hard to find solitude or silence," explains Dani P.

Casino convenience: Carson Valley Inn RV Resort provides easy access to entertainment without driving. As one visitor noted, "The space was wide enough for our slides to come out, but not the awning. The space is marked 30/50 amp but only had 30 and 20 amp outlets. Despite being pretty crowded, it was quiet at night."

What you should know

Winter considerations: Snow camping requires different preparation at Tahoe Valley Campground. "We ended up camping in a truck camper at Tahoe Valley Campground after being caught in a snow storm. We weren't able to connect to water because of freezing temperatures... nothing beats making a fire in the snow and waking up to a couple of feet of white fluffiness!" shares Basia M.

Noise factors: Location relative to highways affects sound levels at rv parks near Zephyr Cove. "Wedged between Costco and highway 395. So this is a long term stay place that is right next to busy 395. Costco forms the other boundary. Not my kind of place to stay or go camping," notes one camper about Comstock Country RV Resort.

Site variations: Carson RV Resort has recently changed ownership with significant upgrades. "What I liked most about this place was that it is more spacious than typical RV parks. Also, more importantly, the bathrooms were amazing and deserving of the 'resort' name," reports a camper who stayed during renovation periods.

Tips for camping with families

Age restrictions: Some Zephyr Cove area RV parks limit amenity access for children. At Sparks Marina RV Park, one family noted, "Rv park was clean clean clean very nice staff. The only negative part was my children and I could not enjoy the amenities. Kids must be 18 to enjoy the spa even if accompanied by adults, had a great club house with a pool table but kids must be 14 to play."

Bear safety: Camp Richardson requires proper food storage. "The RV village in Camp Richardson Eagles Nest didn't have water spouts to clean dishes, nor bear boxes. Our neighbors told us of bear stories coming up to their camp the day before so I was not sure why bear boxes were not included for each site," mentions Sarah B.

Space considerations: Family-sized sites vary between rv parks near Zephyr Cove. "We came into south lake to visit family. This campground is right in town but there's enough space and trees to give it a natural setting. Bathrooms are great and it's pretty quiet considering it's popular. Looks great for families and there's a dog park, pool and trails," notes Sarah R. about Tahoe Valley Campground.

Tips from RVers

Registration efficiency: Check-in processes differ significantly between campgrounds. One RVer at Camp Richardson shared, "The line at 2pm was horrible! I got there at 2:01 and there were already 20 people in front of me. The process is painfully slow... It would affect my decision to return. Why not have people pay in full before arrival, have all paperwork completed online?"

Site selection: At Gold Dust West RV Park, the casino location offers specific advantages. "A pretty typical Casino RV park, pretty tight paved sites, mostly asphalt with a few trees. Bathroom and showers are adequate and clean. WiFi was variable worked most of the time. Convenient to 580 and downtown Carson City," reports George L.

Age restrictions: Some resorts enforce vehicle age limits. A reviewer warns, "There is NO mention of an age restriction on their website. I specifically searched it before I made the reservation. But they WILL take the reservation online, take your money, then call to check the age of your rig."
