Best RV Parks & Resorts near Yerington, NV

Several RV parks accommodate travelers between Reno and Yerington, with varied hookup levels and amenities. Silver City RV Resort in Minden provides concrete pads and full hookups including 50-amp service, with sites that can accommodate larger motorhomes despite somewhat tight spacing. "The spaces are wide and recent upgrades will have nice vine covered privacy fences between each site," noted one camper about Silver City, though they mentioned highway noise can be noticeable during daytime hours. Whispering River Ranch RV Park offers pull-through sites with both 30 and 50-amp electrical service, sewer and water hookups, plus dedicated grass areas at each site. Gold Dust West RV Park in Carson City features paved sites with full hookups, though spacing between RVs remains limited, especially for vehicles with extended slide-outs.

Nevada's high desert climate affects seasonal RV camping, with many parks remaining open year-round but experiencing temperature extremes. Pull-through sites are common at larger facilities, though back-in spots may require careful maneuvering, particularly at Topaz Lodge RV Park where the terrain slopes slightly toward the lake. Most RV parks in the region provide dump stations, propane fill services, and laundry facilities. Cell service varies significantly across the region, with stronger reception in Carson City and Minden than in more remote locations near Walker Lake. A visitor commented that while Wi-Fi was available at Gold Dust West, it "worked most of the time" but could be inconsistent during peak usage periods. Pet policies generally permit leashed animals throughout the area's RV parks, though some locations charge additional fees for multiple pets or impose breed restrictions.

    Silver City RV Resort

    Convenient location with great amenities

Great location if you want to be near Costco and the capital city.  Great views of the Sierras and the Carson valley.  Sites are narrow, about twice the width of your RV, and separated by chain link fencing.  But all sites are perfectly flat, paved pull-throughs; easy in, easy out parking.  Also electric, water, sewer hookup, cable and strong wifi and cell service.  Sites are gravel, but the campground has nice grassy dog parks, clean bathrooms and laundry, and well-stocked store with propane refill.  Pool and fishing pond were closed but looked great.  We were there in early April 2021; with our binoculars we could see skiers at the top of Heavenly Mountain ski area!

    Topaz Lake RV Park

    Wonderful private RV campground

We spend a month here every year and several weekends, too. It’s clean, the host, Julie, is very friendly and the spaces are great. Plenty of space for our 34’ travel trailer. Full hookups - water, electric and sewer and Cable tv, plus decent wifi. No fires are allowed, but you are right on the lake, with two docks and a beach with shade everywhere and amazing views, so who cares? There is a fish cleaning station, a laundromat, bathrooms with toilets and pay showers. There is also a small store and a freezer full of delicious ice cream treats. Pet friendly as long as your pets are leashed. There are two docks and you can dock your boat for a few. We leave our kayaks on the beach. Everyone is really friendly and Chuck, the maintenance man, could not be nicer or more helpful! He is a treat to chat with! A picnic table at every site, trees at every site and the lake has great fishing and boating. Can you tell we love this place?

    Sparks Marina RV Park

    Nice place to visit

Nice level concrete pads for travel trailers, they also have pull through sites for diesel pushers. Both 30 and 50 amp sites along with cable on the pedestals, make sure you bring your own cable to connect to the pet store or they’ll charge you $4.95 for a cable cord. Large clean bathrooms, with a laundry facility that is open 24 hours a day. Upon checking in, staff will guide you to your site and assist you in backing in to your campsite or guide you through the pull through site. They explain all the rules which are typical and show you the location of your pedestal and your sewer hook ups. Wi-Fi is strong and if there are not a lot of people at the campsite you can stream to a television which is the first time in a long time. Unfortunately when the weekends come in the campsite gets full Wi-Fi signal does degrade quite significantly. The bathrooms are well-maintained and constantly cleaned, staff is very friendly and they have a small camp in store for you to pick up small supplies. If you need anything larger there is RV country which is located basically across the street at legends which is a rather large shopping mall area. There are plenty of places to go out and eat if you would like such as outback steakhouse, Olive Garden, BJ’s and of course there is a plethora of fast food restaurants available in the area as well. The campsites are flat and level and have a picnic table with artificial turf next to your campsite. I’ll just say that the sites are very cozy. Very quiet camp area staff is very friendly and helpful

    Whiskey Flats RV Park

Looks nice but it is dusty

Stopped for one night of a 4 week cross country trip. The staff were friendly and helpful with local information. The sites are full hookups, 30 & 50 amp electric, concrete pads (not entirely level), grass areas and trees. They have clean showers and bathrooms, and cable tv. There is WiFi, but it is very slow. It isn’t strong enough for the number of people trying to use it. After midnight it was better. They also have a “dog area” which is just a sandy area near the office, right in busy US 95, but it’s not fenced in! I would not let my dogs run there. The bathroom/shower code did not work in the evening and there was no one in the office to get it corrected.

    Sparks Marina RV Park

Great Urban RV Park, best in Reno Area

The Reno area is our home base, we are full time RVers in a 35 foot long fifth wheel.  We come to Sparks Marina RV Park whenever we are in town visiting family, and we typically stay for at least a month or sometimes two months.  We have visited ALL of the RV parks in the vicinity, and in Carson City to the south.  By far this is the best place in the area.  The sites are not at all outdoorsy, it is more of an urban feel, with a concrete pad and fake grass, but each site has a tree which is nice for shade in the hot summers.  The circulation works well and if you have a pull through you have two parking options for your tower/toad vehicle.  The spaces are long enough for the larger rigs, and are wide enough for all of the slides, even on both sides, and for awnings to go out.  Staff here is EXCELLENT.  We are always treated well, and we like how they are always there to help.  The office has some supplies for sale, and the laundry room and bathrooms are the CLEANEST we have ever seen.  Facilities are modern.  Rec room has ping pong, and pool, a large screen tv as well.  There is a small pool and hot tub, which gets a lot of use when open.  They do not allow tents.  They have a pretty robust WiFi system, and all cellular options are available in the area, so internet is not a problem.  Prices are higher than other options but the location is excellent, staff is excellent and they do a good job of security as well.  We feel safe here, and it is always clean.

    Desert Rose RV Park

Nothing Special but a Good Short Termer to Visit the Reno Area.

The RV park was easy to find and enter. Check in was smooth with a very friendly staff, and we were escorted to pull through site 150 with FHUs for our three day stay. The utilities are nicely placed on the middle of the pad. Site 150 is a premium pull through. The only thing that makes this site premium is the concrete pad, small grass front yard, and shade trees; as there is no picnic table, patio, or fire pit. Sites are near each other throughout the park. We really didn’t see where any sites were better spaced than others. We received a Good Sam discount for the nightly rate, which basically paid for the lodging tax. Then there’s a $2 resort fee and $3 per pet fee ($6 for our two pets) with other charges if you bring additional people and vehicles with you. The WiFi was average for a park this size. Cable did not work, but they were trying to get the cable company to come fix it. However, we got a fair amount of OTA channels, with two prime channels. We got 2 bars on Verizon. There’s an interesting mix of full timers, seasonal, and short termers. I state interesting as many of the permanent party live along the South to West perimeter. Most take pride in their sites but as good as the park sites look towards the front it degrades in too many sites looking like, well, a “trailer park”. There’s a very clean and well maintained facility with a Rec Room, showers and nice big laundry. We like the rule where a site can only use two machines at a time. Unless you want to trek out into the desert where the Quads and ATVs go, there are no trails here to walk your dog, but there is a small fenced, off-leash dog area, which was nice. We thought this park would be more of a destination park and for us, it was not. This park had the worse road noise we've experienced after two years on the road. Our sound machine could not drown out the internal park muffler rumbles of locals going to work that started about 4:00 AM, the highway noise all day plus most of the night, and the 5:30ish AM train. We stayed here three nights based on reviews from other websites. Our opinion overall, this place is nothing special. However, it is a good overnighter and could be an option to explore the Reno area.

    Crystal Springs Campground

Camping under giant sequoias! What more could you want?

Beautiful, wild forest camping under huge sequoia trees in a well maintained campground with fairly well separated sites. Flush toilets and garbage disposal but no dump station or electrical or water hookups. Definitely not for big rigs and I have a teardrop trailer and my Outback which are almost 30 ft and it was quite a challenge

    Zephyr Cove Resort

    Family fun for all ages

Excellent spot for the whole family. Beware, if you are pulling a trailer brush up on your backing up skills. Very tight and narrow. Best time to get in the park is during the day. Not much difference between back in sites versus pull through sites. Very clean facilities. Close to everything. Everyone is nice and friendly. #162 is a good level site for RV.

    Washoe Lake State Park Campground

    Great stop over

Spent the night here on a road trip. 30$ for non Nevada resident but includes full hookups except water was shut off for the season. Flat, wide spaces with mostly pull throughs, clean bathrooms and shower. Convenient credit card pay system. Also a dump station.

Guide to Yerington

RV camping near Yerington, Nevada offers various options for travelers in Nevada's high desert environment where summer temperatures regularly exceed 90°F and winter nights can drop below freezing. The region between Reno and Yerington sits at elevations ranging from 4,300 to 5,000 feet, creating dramatic temperature swings between day and night even during summer months. Campers should prepare for the possibility of strong afternoon winds that frequently sweep across the open landscapes.

What to do

Visit Walker Lake: Located near Topaz Lodge RV Park, this natural desert lake provides swimming and fishing opportunities. "The view was nice overlooking the lake and hills. The showers were clean and required me to put down $10 deposit which was a bit weird, usually, parks keep their bathrooms open," notes one visitor.

Explore Virginia City: A historic mining town within 30 minutes of Carson RV Resort. The preserved 19th-century architecture offers a glimpse into Nevada's silver mining past. A visitor commented that Carson RV Resort "is a good overnight and could be an option to explore the Reno area."

Enjoy Lake Tahoe recreation: From Tahoe Valley Campground, access numerous hiking trails and water activities. "We came into south lake to visit family. This campground is right in town but there's enough space and trees to give it a natural setting. Bathrooms are great and it's pretty quiet considering it's popular," reports one camper.

What campers like

Clean facilities: At Sparks Marina RV Park, the well-maintained amenities receive consistent praise. "Very clean and nice RV park. Pool, hot tub, game room and nice small shop. Sites have fake grass but it looks nice. Pads and streets are paved. Full hook ups. Picnic tables at each site," writes one satisfied guest.

Convenient highway access: Many parks position themselves for easy access from major routes. At Whiskey Flats RV Park, campers appreciate the straightforward layout. "Super easy to get to, to get into and get out of. There was a Safeway within walking distance as well as a pub and a casino," notes a recent visitor.

Family-friendly amenities: Several parks offer activities specifically for families. At Whispering River Ranch RV Park, "Everyone at the front desk was kind and very responsive. The operations manager was so kind as to pick up and deliver our empty propane tanks upon our arrival! Views of the Walker over from the walking trail were perfect. Kids welcome, two nice playgrounds and a pickleball court that they provided rackets for."

What you should know

Age restrictions apply at some parks: Certain parks enforce RV age limits that might not be clearly stated online. At Sparks Marina RV Park, one frustrated camper reported: "There is NO mention of an age restriction on their website. I specifically searched it before I made the reservation. But they WILL take the reservation online, take your money, then call to check the age of your rig."
