Best RV Parks & Resorts near Bennington, NE

Several RV parks surround Bennington, Nebraska, providing convenient options for motorhome travelers. West Omaha/NE Lincoln KOA Holiday in Gretna operates year-round with full hookup sites featuring 30/50 amp service and accommodates big rigs with pull-through access. Many campgrounds provide on-site conveniences like laundry facilities, camp stores with RV supplies, and propane service, eliminating the need for frequent trips into town.

    Czechland Lake Recreation Area

Great first come first serve campground

This is a nice small campground that is well taken care of. We stayed at site number 8 which may be one of the more unlevel spots. The passenger side of our 5th wheel was about 7" lower than driver side and rear of fifth wheel was about 3" lower than front before we levelled out.

    Pros:

-Well maintained walking trails that are perfect for dogs

-Most sites have 30 and 50 amp hookups

-Fire rings and picnic tables at most sites

-$18 a night for electric hookups

    -Quiet

    Cons:

    -Some sites are very unlevel

    -No water or dump station

    Louisville State Recreation Area Campground

    Good campground and recreation area

Pretty decent campground that’s suitable for extended stays.

There’s five or so lakes you can fish. One lake has swimming access. Canoe and paddle board rentals. Convenience store on site with firewood and propane tanks. There is an air compressor at the convenience store.

RV sites are electrical only but paved. Restrooms are somewhat clean. Showers are okay but the hot water is nice.

Dump station is clean. Don’t checkout on a Sunday if you don’t want to wait two hours to dump.

Sites are concrete pads with full hookups and include a fire ring and picnic table. The campground also has a bathroom and dog park. 5 bars of AT&T @ 120Mbps!

    Arrowhead Park Campground

Great nature, fishing, and camping park.

Arrowhead campground has 60 RV sites that support both 30 and 50 amp hookups. They have several well water stations to take on water and a sewer dump station. There also lots of tent camping sites. All sites come with picnic table and fire ring. There are numerous nature trails to hike ranging from easy to hard. There is also a nice sized lake for fishing, canoeing, and paddle boats. The lake has a boat ram for small fishing boats. Very well maintained, managed, and friendly atmosphere.

Branched Oak Lake State Rec Area

    Amazing Views from Our Campsite

Once we exited off I 80 per campground(CG) instructions, we traveled following our RV GPS, WAZE, and Google Maps on the back roads to the state recreation area(SRA) and specifically the South Shore CG. We saw the South Shore sign that was somewhat hidden by trees and also a sign for the dump station and potable water. We pulled into the dump station for potable water and to dump what we had from our overnight stay as we were going into back-in site 80 with only electric(50/30/20 AMP). There was a small unmanned check-in gate where we got our Nebraska State Park Pass, but no one was around to stamp our pass so we followed the signage to site 80, which was a fairly easy back-in. We were amazed at the lake view as this site sits up on a hill about 100 yards from the water. Our name was on the post as we had online reservations(there are some first-come-first-serve sites here). We could have put out our satellite, but we got a multitude of OTA channels out of Lincoln, NE. We also got 3 bars on Verizon and 2 bars on T-Mobile. The South Shore CG has a mix of FHUs, 50 AMP, and 30 AMP-only RV sites. Note that when the utilities state Electric Plus, there is no water at the site, just 50 AMP electric plus a 30/20 AMP as well. There are also tent areas within the SRA campgrounds. The sites in general are spaced so you are not right on top of your neighbor. However, the sites that run on both sides of site 80 have no one behind with lots of space down to the lake. This was a very nice CG that we would not hesitate to visit again.

    Arrowhead Park Campground

    Easy Family Camping Near Omaha

Our family and another family shared a primitive tent site near the back of the park. We were first and foremost impressed with the freedom we had in choosing our site. Tent camping here is non-reservable, but once you enter the park, you may choose from any spots containing a fire pit outside of RV loops. Tent sites range from lake-front, to playground side, to more private sites on the outer rim of the park. We chose a large, private site at the back of the park. This site was well maintained and had enough space to easily accommodate two families of four. We even had a picnic shelter all to ourselves. Our site was lined by woods and farmland and had a good view of a small pond. The night was full of exciting animal noises from both the nearby farm and pond. Vault toilets were a short walk away with clean shower facilities just a few loops away. The kids enjoyed riding bikes up and down gravel roads, looking for frogs, and playing on the playground. Canoe and paddle boat rental is extremely reasonable. Hiking trails near the park entrance are rugged. The staff was incredibly kind and easy-going, yet attentive. Just a short drive from neighboring towns, this is a good starter campground for families with younger kids. We hope to return in winter to check out the camping cabins.

    Camp A Way Campground

    Looks like fun for family

We spent one night here and it was nice. It was out first night camping in a 31’ with 3 slide outs and it was a great experience. Easy set up although only used power, nice level site with pull through. Busy but we had a pretty roomy spot. Bathrooms were clean, staff friendly. Cute little train rides for kids at night and vehicles to rent

    Lake Manawa State Park Campground

    Nice metro campground

Large concrete pads with patio and permanently mounted mesh steel picnic table with a fire pit grill on the corner.. Lakeside locations are quite well spaced with a panoramic Lake view. small restroom and shower pair with unisex entry. Quite spartan, but relatively clean. Trees surround the campground, but none provide any campground shade. Entry gate code required, which provides some security. all amenities are available within a limited distance. Some lake activity noises during the day, and depending upon wind, some aircraft traffic, otherwise very quiet.

West Omaha / NE Lincoln KOA Holiday

    Great pizza.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The bathrooms & laundry room are clean,a little outdated. The pull through sites seem to be all gravel/stone. Our back in site had a patio, fire pit and nice patio furniture. Looked like a lot to do for the kids. The camp store is well stocked with RV supplies and parts. After driving all day, then doing laundry it was nice to get a pizza and relax.

Guide to Bennington

Camping options near Bennington, Nebraska span diverse terrain across the Missouri River valley with many sites situated within the unique Loess Hills formation. The region's camping season generally runs April through November with varying availability during winter months. Cell coverage ranges from strong at interstate-adjacent sites to more limited service in state parks and conservation areas.

What to do

Hiking trails with elevation: At Hitchcock Nature Center, trails offer unexpected hill training just outside the Omaha metro area. "The trail system isn't huge because of the size of the park, but it has a lot of up and down and is a great place to practice backpacking or test new gear before you leave the plains and head to the rocky mountains for a new adventure," notes reviewer Matt S.

Archery practice: Several campgrounds maintain dedicated archery ranges for visitors. "As a family we go to Hitchcock a few times a year for the hiking and the archery range they have on-site. Both are excellent and a nice escape from the city!" reports Pat V.

Hawk watching opportunities: The Loess Hills provide excellent bird watching stations. "When your done with your hiking, climb up to the top of the towering platform and bring your binoculars to checkout the visiting hawks and occasional eagle," suggests Matt S. about Hitchcock Nature Center.

What campers like

Convenient interstate access: Pine Grove RV Park & Campground offers easy highway access while maintaining good amenities. "Close (but not too close) to I-80, we stayed here as a way point cruising across Wyoming/Nebraska/Iowa. Clean facilities, quiet vibe, it was just what we needed after a long day of driving," writes Jessica.

Walking distance to town amenities: Ashland RV Campground provides accessibility to local services. "Brand new clean quiet campground walking distance from downtown. Site wasn't level front to back and the host offered to move us," reports Jen S. Another camper added, "It is close to main street Ashland, which offers gourmet coffee (Fariner Bakery was my favorite), and a couple of restaurants."

Clean facilities: Travelers consistently note the maintenance standards at many area campgrounds. "The bathhouses are very clean. I stayed at site #22 because it is close to the playground and is a full hookup site," writes Andrew D. about Ashland RV Campground.

What you should know

Self-service check-in process: Several parks offer simplified arrival procedures. "Stopped late after a long 12 hour drive. I loved the simple self service process. We picked an open spot, paid, and parked," notes Abby W. about her stay at Hitchcock Nature Center.

Highway noise considerations: Interstate proximity affects sound levels at several campgrounds. "It's a nice campground especially since it's MWR. Many full hook up sites and a very nice boat house with water toy rentals," reports Sean F. about Offutt AFB FamCamp, though noting, "It is exposed to the elements and we actually broke camp at night due to high winds."

Seasonal bathroom availability: Winter camping requires planning for limited facilities. "Shower house available until it's gets down to freezing weather. Dump station and water fill," notes Chris H. about Bob Hardy RV Park in Blair.

Tips for camping with families

Educational programs for kids: Nature centers offer structured learning activities. "When I think of 'nature center' I think of a stuffy little cabin with taxidermy. This site is far far more than that, with hiking trails, educational programs, a museum, event halls, and of course camping," explains Lynn G. "Make sure to look at their events calendar, they have exceptional programs for all ages (and especially kids)."

Accessible trails for all abilities: On-Ur-Wa RV Park accommodates visitors with mobility needs. "One of our party is in a wheelchair and had no problem accessing the showers or bathroom," notes Maggie C. The park also features "a small dog park for the pups. Bathrooms and showers are clean."

Geocaching opportunities: Some areas feature treasure hunting activities. "To entertain my kids (ages 6-12), there were several geocaches to find within walking distance, and the town has a splash pad and pool during the summer months," shares Andrew D. about camping near Ashland.

Tips from RVers

Payment processing: Different rv camping near Bennington, Nebraska options have varying payment systems. "This park was a nice find. It had a decent shower house and bathrooms. The park stayed pretty clean. The dump station was free. We made $15 per night. But on some spots it says it $17.50 a night. All camps for 30amps," explains Victoria S. about Bob Hardy RV Park.

Site selection strategy: Sunset at Blue Oasis RV Park offers specific site features. "The gravel site we were on fit our 40 ft fifth wheel without a problem but was slightly off level. Amy and Ed are very helpful and friendly, the bathrooms/showers are beautiful and immaculate," reports Toni S.

Pull-through availability: Several campgrounds accommodate larger rigs without disconnecting. "Night 1 of a 60 day trip with 42 moves. Super clean park and very well taken care of... charged me $43.34 for a full-hookup, super long pull thru," shares Andrew about On-Ur-Wa RV Park.
