What to do
Hiking nearby trails: Lolo Hot Springs Campground provides convenient access to several hiking trails. "This is a nice campsite! The hot springs are right across the highway. The bathrooms have running water and a portable heater in the colder months. Worth staying for proximity to the springs more than anything," notes one visitor.
Enjoy water recreation: Rollins RV Park offers direct access to Flathead Lake activities. "We rented a pontoon boat from the rv park and explored the lake. The boat rental for a whole day is equivalent to a 4 hour rental near Spokane. Great prices," one camper shared.
Frisbee golf and recreation areas: Nugget RV Resort features outdoor activities on-site. "Nice hiking trails and scenic open field with frisbee golf. Pool. Some train and highway noise but pretty far off," according to one visitor.
What campers like
Hot springs access: Lolo Hot Springs RV Park & Campground offers natural mineral soaks. "The hot springs across the highway are $12 a person and we took a hot soak in the 106 degree enclosed mineral bath/pool area and rotated to the 86 degree pool outside. Kids and families all seemed to stay in the pool area while adults in the mineral bath area," notes a visitor.
Clean facilities: Many campgrounds maintain high cleanliness standards. "This is one if the prettiest and cleanest campground we have ever stayed at. The sites are gravel, mostly level and most sites have shade. The laundry and bathhouse was very nice and clean," reports one camper at Jim & Mary's RV Park.
Level sites with amenities: Campers value practical site features. "Level sites, nice pet walk area. Showers clean. Full hookups. Solid, clean, well kept place to stay," notes a visitor to Diamond S RV Park.
What you should know
Seasonal availability: Most RV parks near Dixon have limited seasons. "We ended up asking if they could extend their service past October 1st and they said YES! They will take care of you, they have everything you will need," notes a camper at Rollins RV Park.
Internet connectivity varies: WiFi quality differs between campgrounds. "The wifi during our stay has been totally useless, if we weren't traveling with our own hot spot we would have had to leave (need wifi for work)," reports one visitor at Polson Motorcoach and RV Resort.
Noise factors: Some campgrounds have nearby transportation routes. "The only downside (if I had to find one) was the train close by that was very squeaky as it went by. But I never heard it during the night," notes a camper at Jim & Mary's RV Park.
Tips for camping with families
Choose campgrounds with recreation areas: Family-friendly amenities make stays more enjoyable. "Great place to stay if your in the St. Regis area. You don't have to leave the campground if you don't want to with tons of great activities. Bathrooms were good, showers could use some work but they were clean and had hot water," notes a visitor to Lolo Hot Springs Campground.
Consider campgrounds with swimming options: Eagle Nest RV Resort offers water recreation. "Right next to beautiful golf course in Polson MT. All the hookups. Pool, hot tub, pickle ball courts," shares one camper.
Look for sites with shade: Summer heat can be intense. "This rv park is serene and beautiful. Whoever takes care of the grounds is meticulous and has two green thumbs. I felt safe which is of utmost important to me," notes a visitor to Jim & Mary's RV Park.
Tips from RVers
Water and waste management: Not all sites have full hookups. "Water and electricity hook up only. Bring a portable RV waste tank to the pump out station. Or walk to the bathroom/showers," advises a visitor to Lolo Hot Springs Campground.
Site selection for big rigs: Large RVs need appropriate sites. "Sites small, internet horrible, pool cold, hornets at mini golf and staff unfriendly," warns a visitor at Granite Peak RV Resort, showing the importance of choosing the right site.
Consider weather impacts: Sprinkler systems can affect outdoor gear. "There is flowers everywhere and they have a sprinkler system to keep everything pretty so you can't leave anything out overnight that you don't want to get wet," notes a visitor to Jim & Mary's RV Park.
