Best RV Parks & Resorts near Oran, MO

Several RV parks surround Oran, Missouri, offering convenient access for motorhome travelers exploring southeast Missouri. Cypress Creek RV Park in Sikeston provides full hookup sites with water, electric, and sewer connections, while Town and Country RV Resort, also in Sikeston, features big-rig friendly sites with 50 amp service. Boomland RV Park & Campground in Charleston accommodates larger rigs with 30 amp hookups and includes amenities like showers, toilets, and a market on-site. The Landing Point RV Park in Cape Girardeau maintains year-round operations with full hookup sites including 50 amp service, picnic tables, and fire rings. "Sites are pretty much gravel and dirt," noted one reviewer about a nearby park. "At $40 per night, the price felt a bit high for the amenities offered. We were there during dusty conditions, and friends came through a week later in the rain, and the campground was muddy."

Most RV campgrounds in the region welcome pets and provide sanitary dump stations for convenience. Cell service varies significantly between parks, with reviewers reporting 1-3 bars on major carriers. Propane fill stations are available at select locations like Magnolia Campground & Country Store, which opened in 2020 and features a country store with fresh deli items. Camelot RV Campground in Poplar Bluff, about an hour southwest of Oran, maintains 76 sites open year-round with both 30 and 50 amp service options. Pull-through sites for overnight stays are common at several parks, though availability may be limited during peak travel seasons. One traveler mentioned needing blocks for leveling at Shawnee Forest Campground: "Our site was not level and with all the rain we had, there were water puddles at the steps." Reservations are recommended, especially for weekend stays, as many parks fill quickly during pleasant weather months.

    Magnolia Campground & Country Store

    Highlights

    🌳 Highlights

Welcome & Hospitality Newly opened in October 2020 and family-run by Rick & Glenda Wilson, guests often highlight their warm, friendly service . One reviewer said:

    > “Owners and staff all super friendly, engaging and kind.”

Campground Quality Features include full hookups (30/50 amp, water, sewer), gravel pull-through sites for big rigs (up to ~43 ft), free WiFi, dump station, propane fill, fire pits, picnic tables, laundry, and a shower house .

On‑site Country Store & Deli A notable perk is the store with fresh deli items and daily lunch specials—particularly Friday catfish dinners—plus occasional breakfast on Saturdays .

    ⭐ Guest Reviews Snapshot

    Mick & Karla (30 Mar 2025)

Booked same-day, chose pull-through site, enjoyed 40 psi water, decent WiFi/cell service.

Friendly staff and solid amenities, though gravel/dirt sites got dusty or muddy depending on weather.

Road noise from nearby I‑57 noted. Felt $40/night was a bit high.

    CatTrailzz (24 Jul 2024)

Quiet despite being near the freeway. Loves the deli (noting salads and pulled pork).

    Clean facilities, new shower room.

    Plans to stay again.

    QueenMartell (16 Mar 2024)

    Friendly check-in, excellent service.

Accommodated a 43 ft fifth wheel with ease.

Highly recommends, loves the Friday catfish.

Other reviewers (Kitty, Kyla D, Tergeo)

Consistently mention friendly owners, clean/gravel sites, good common areas, and a strong likelihood to return .

    Pros & Cons

    👍 Pros 👎 Cons

Warm, personal service Sites are gravel/dirt—can be dusty or muddy Full hookups and big‑rig friendly Road noise from I‑57 On-site deli with fresh food & catfish dinners Wi-Fi and cell coverage are serviceable but not exceptional Clean shower/laundry facilities Price (~$39–40/night) might be a bit high for basic amenities

    Summary

Magnolia Campground is a great overnight or short-term stop if you’re looking for friendly hospitality, solid basic RV hookups, and the novelty of a country store with good food in southeast Missouri. It’s particularly suited for large RVs, travelers who enjoy a welcoming vibe, and those who appreciate a Friday catfish dinner. It’s not a destination resort, so if you're seeking plush amenities or a quiet nature getaway, plan accordingly.

    Bottom Line

If you're rolling through with an RV and want a hassle-free, friendly, quick stay with full hookups and good food, Magnolia is a solid choice. For longer stays, be prepared for gravel underfoot and some road noise—but clean facilities and warm hosts might still make it worth it.

    Magnolia Campground & Country Store

    Very Good Customer Service

This review is based on a short stay rather than a destination campground (CG) experience. We found this CG while looking for options near Sikeston, MO, and decided to try it based on positive online reviews. Booking was easy with a same-day reservation, and we received an email with directions, the WiFi password, and instructions to pick any site between 8 and 13, designated for big rigs and short-term stays, as most of the other sites were occupied by longer-term residents. We chose pull-through site #11 with full hookups (FHU) due to its convenient angle. All of the sites, including the shorter back-ins, offer FHU. Our site accommodated our 40’ fifth wheel and F450 truck comfortably, with centrally located utilities and 40 psi water pressure. The WiFi was sufficient for checking emails and general browsing, while cell service was limited to 1 bar on Verizon and 3 bars on T-Mobile. With few trees, satellite reception wouldn’t be an issue. During our stay, we were the only short-term guests. Some sites had picnic tables and fire pits, and while ours did not, we could have moved them if desired. The CG has a nice shower house and laundry facility, but the real draw is the country store, which operates more like a restaurant. The owner and staff were exceptionally friendly, and the food was good. The sites are pretty much gravel and dirt. At $40 per night, the price felt a bit high for the amenities offered. We were there during dusty conditions, and friends came through a week later in the rain, and the CG was muddy. Along with the country store with a restaurant, there’s a dump station, plus they sell ice and propane. Being located along a frontage road off I-57, road noise was noticeable. Overall, we had a pleasant overnight stay and appreciated their hospitality.

    Riverview Campground

    Beautiful Views

Riverview campground is a clean, quiet, family friendly campground. It overlooks the Ohio River and provides amazing views at sunset. The stargazing is also great. There are 30 amp and 50 amp sites with water, and a dump station is on site. Firewood is also provided. This was the perfect place to spend the weekend!

    Greenville - Lake Wappapello

    A great COE campground

If you've camped before at a COE campground you expect a quality experience. This one is no exception. It has paved drives and paved sites with a concrete pad for the fire ring and picnic table along with a hook for your lantern. They are also full hookups.

The place is very clean as well as the restrooms. There are plenty of things to do right from the campground including a paved bike trail into Greenville. We spent two days in early November and just about had the park to ourselves.

Cell service was adequate but not great.

    Cypress Creek RV Park

    Great for the Night

If you are traveling on I 57 or I 55 this is a great over night stay.  Beautiful Campground but not to many amenities.  IT does have the best internet we have had in 3 months.  Love the trees and nice level sites.  It has a few run down long term campers, but they don't over run the place.

    Redman Creek Recreation Area

    Best place to camp

This is a Army Corps of Engineers campground. We love it because it is quite and peaceful. The sites are well maintained with asphalted pads, fire pit, grill, camp light pole and picnic table. Best of all it is full hook up. Redman West traditionally has older campers (sites 1-40)but Redman east usually has more kids (sites 41-109) (currently under remodel 2023 season). Both sides are family friendly. We camp Redman West March to November.

    Shawnee Forest Campground

    EV Car Camping

I’m a novice car camper, sleeping in my Tesla Model 3. This campground is quiet and clean. The host is very friendly and knowledgeable. Each site has 50 amp electric service (so you can charge your EV with a NEMA 14-50 plug), fresh water, fire pits, and picnic tables. A nice stop to visit the Shawnee National Forest.

Guide to Oran

RV campgrounds near Oran, Missouri provide convenient overnight accommodations for travelers exploring the region's natural areas and small towns. Located in southeast Missouri, Oran sits at approximately 361 feet above sea level in a primarily agricultural area. Most nearby camping facilities offer year-round availability with varying levels of amenities for both short-term and extended stays.

What to do

Fishing access: Horseshoe Lake Alexander County offers boating and fishing opportunities with a launch area near the campground. "The lake is more of a swamp with cypress trees, very pretty," notes one camper, while another mentions it's "gray lake for kayaking" with the boat launch conveniently located near the camping areas.

Walking trails: Several campgrounds connect to walking paths for exercise and nature observation. At Cape Camping & RV Park, "there was a public paved walking trail along the back of the CG, which was very nice to walk the dogs." This concrete trail provides a convenient option for campers looking to stretch their legs.

Local exploration: Cape Girardeau, approximately 30 minutes from some campgrounds, offers additional activities. "There is gas, liquor store and dollar general within 10 miles," reports a camper at Horseshoe Lake, providing context for basic supply runs. Smaller communities like Sikeston also offer services for travelers passing through the area.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Many reviewers specifically mention cleanliness as a standout feature. At Hinton RV Park, campers appreciate the "clean well kept facility" and note that the "park is very clean with great space between sites and lots of trees." Another reviewer mentions, "Bathrooms only have one shower and toilet. Small laundry."

Convenient highway access: Travelers value the strategic locations of rv campgrounds in Oran, Missouri and surrounding areas. "This RV Park is not far off the highway and it was easy to find," writes one Hinton RV Park visitor. Another notes, "It was easy to find just off the interstate. Nice level sites, friendly staff."

Level parking areas: The Landing Point RV Park earns praise for its "level concrete" sites that accommodate various rig sizes. As one camper describes, "Large sites with level concrete. Staff is helpful and friendly." Another notes the campground has "big sites and lots of grass" making setup easier for travelers.

What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Weather impacts the camping experience significantly in this region. At Horseshoe Lake, "In late October there was no water, but several sites have full hook ups." During rainy periods, drainage can be an issue at some locations.

Amenities vary widely: Not all campgrounds offer the same facilities. Camelot RV Campground provides "Full-Hookups, water, sewer, electric30/50amp, Cable TV and WiFi. Laundry and Propane Station on premises," while other parks offer more basic services. Some locations have limited or no shower facilities.

Connectivity options: Internet and cell service quality differs between locations. At Hinton RV Park, visitors report "fantastic wireless" and cable TV access. Another camper at The Landing Point mentions, "ATT & Verizon both worked fine. Wifi & cable included in the price."

Tips for camping with families

Limited play facilities: Parents should note that many RV campgrounds near Oran focus primarily on overnight stays rather than recreation. At The Landing Point, one camper observed there's "not much for kids has an out dated swing set not in great shape" but mentioned "Water park close by (5 minute drive) that was great for the kids on a hot day."

Central green spaces: Some campgrounds feature open areas where children can play. The Landing Point has "a big grassy area in the middle of the loop of wanting to play games and run around," which provides space for family activities without dedicated playground equipment.

Pet accommodations: For families traveling with animals, many parks accommodate pets and some offer dedicated areas. The Landing Point features "a nice fenced in area for dogs to run and play at," which helps manage pets during your stay.

Tips from RVers

Discounts available: Wildwood RV Park and other locations may offer reduced rates for certain travelers. As one RVer notes about The Landing Point, "10% discount for Good Sam, military & seniors," which can help manage travel costs for extended trips.

Check electrical systems: Verify hookup functionality before setting up. At Horseshoe Lake, a camper advises, "electric not working at first 3 or 4 sites so check before you set up your camper," highlighting the importance of testing connections upon arrival.

Site selection considerations: When booking, consider specific needs regarding space and connections. One traveler at Hinton RV Park mentioned, "Each space has full hookups and its own picnic table," while another noted after arriving, "We had some issues and needed an extra day last minute and were able to stay on until things got fixed."
